1 starProgressive Insurance, *****, and ******** have been terrible to deal with.
A huge amount of my settlement was withheld on the grounds of Actual Cash Value versus Recoverable Depreciation. As it stands, I can't afford to replace my roof after a recent hail storm. "This is just how things go, sir, it states it in your policy." This is what I was told by Paul W******, an ***** adjuster.
Paul W****** and Benjamin L*****, his subordinate, were both rude and unhelpful as I sought to understand why 80% of my painting estimate was withheld. Possibly the worst customer service I've ever received.
Do not use Progressive Insurance. They buried a $5K hail deductible in my home insurance application, and their process for calculating actual cash payments cripples homeowners' ability to prioritize repairs.
I'm switching home insurance companies immediately, and changing my car insurance as well.
Again. Do not use Progressive. Pay the extra $300 or whatever your premium is; the time you'll save alone will pay for itself.Review fromRamiro H

1 starI have been with progressive for 5 years. No problems or even concerns. Unfortunately, this current situation has made me feel disgusted. Trying to do a basic address change. Has become one of the most humiliating and degrading situations I have faced.
I was in the process of moving and several other factors had multiple members my family living in the same address as me. When it was time to change my address. We listed the house for sale. The agent demanded I provided proof the other members where not living with me anymore. They expect me to hunt down my family members to get proof of their new residence.
I talked to my local agent and they say it very extraordinary for that to be requested. Why me? I feel discriminated without a solid reason. It’s simply an extra step for me and extra time. Meanwhile I am stuck paying for a high premium.Review fromLaquita T

1 starWorst customer service experience ever!!! Was rear ended in a hit and run and filed a claim. After getting the run around about receiving my uploaded pictures, the claims rep offered to send an adjuster. The adjuster never called or scheduled to come out on the day the rep stated. I was given a direct number to call ti inquire and got Alyssa. This rep stated the adjuster does not have to call or make appointments, he would just show up. After letting her know that I did not think this was true and asked to confirm her name, she hung up the phone on me. I have yet to speak with someone who can help to escalate my claim. Almost 3 wks and I don't even have an estimate.Review fromJoshua R

1 starTruck body work has been completed for over a week now but I can't pick it up because progressive won't return e mails or phone calls to the shop confirming the payment is approved. Insurance adjusters mailbox is full. I finally got ahold of him, no apology or remorse, no ETA on when he will complete it, and wasn't even aware that it was done. The shop had left numerous voicemails prior to the full mailbox and sent numerous e mails. I have also done the same. I also called the claim rep and left a voicemail but no response. Needless to say I'll be finding new insurance once I'm done with this claim.Review fromAna B

1 starLeft me on the side of the road with a flat and didn’t bother to contact me again. Late at night I had a motorcyle with a flat. Called for roadside assistance and told the lady I had FINALLY spoken to that I needed immediate assistance as my phone battery was dying and this was probably my last call. My destination was a 10minute drive. She told me my service was out of range and it would cost me, when I told her that’s not possible I know I’m covered she said she would look into it and call me back. Never hear back. I couldn’t get a hold of a single human being and eventually had to give up. For hours I waited on the side of the road until a stranger helped me. Can’t believe I’ve been their customer for 5 years. What a waste. When I finally got home I cancelled my service immediately.Review fromChase L.

1 starTook them over 30 days to even come out and inspect my vehicle. And then when someone was able to inspect my vehicle I had to go to them what's the point of being Platinum members when I have to do all the work. Then I was told that I would be able to keep my car and my title would not be branded as a salvage title so then I called my bank and they would allow me to continue making the remaining $2,000 payments. Then call back to tell them that I would like to keep the car and they can issue the check to the bank for the car loan. Then the woman starts to tell me that it would be a salvage title and I wouldn't be able to continue with full coverage insurance. Your customer service needs to make up their mind you need to do a better job of taking care of your customers. Been with this company for over 10 years and after this I am done rude disrespectful customer service ever. Stay clear of this company they will continue to tell you lies and then you call back to verify and it's just more lies. I would rather pay an insurance company double than what I was paying with Progressive because I have never been treated with so much disrespect.Review fromNicardo M

1 starThis is the worst insurance company out there and then on top of it they are real cocky as if no one can do anything to them. Take your chances if you want the headache of added fees and broken promises.Review fromJamal S

1 starI had a roadside assistance problem and Progressive did not handle the situation correctly and I end up coming out of pocket about $500 however they told me to submit for a reimbursement online and the website does not work it just says the meeting for reimbursement one moment please and then there’s nothing now I have to take the time to go all the way to the post office print these receipts out make copies and send them the originals and this is just ridiculous who has time for that. They really need to come up with a way a better way to submit reimbursements when their website is not working!! Or better yet just do the job right the first time she won’t have to submit reimbursementReview fromAlly B

1 starAfter noticing Progressive withdrew a much larger sum than usual for my car insurance this month, I checked my account and noticed that they added my landlord's son to my car insurance policy without valid notice or my consent. My landlord's son does not live with me, nor has he ever had access to my vehicle. After waiting on hold for over two hours, Progressive informed me that they "emailed" me the change and my failure to respond was "implied consent" for the change to occur. I then was forced to sign a document stating this child does not live with me or have access to my car for Progressive to REVIEW. When I explained that I did not receive any email, I was informed that they usually end up in SPAM folders. When I asked what email they sent this "letter" too, I was told that they could not share this information with me for security purposes (despite having already provided my social security number, address and date of birth to confirm I was the caller). So Progressive can add a STRANGER to my car insurance policy without my consent, but cannot provide the email they sent their "notice letter" to for security reasons? How is this practice of adding a person to an insurance policy without valid consent legal? Progressive admitted that most of these "notices" end up in a Consumers SPAM account and yet they still consider it "implied consent" when the Customer does not respond to a letter they KNOW most Costumer's are likely to miss entirely? They also let me know that they are unable to REFUND their mistake. They can only credit my account AFTER the review the claim and determine I am not LYING. I have NEVER made an official complaint about any company, but this was so egregious I needed to warn others of this SCAM Progressive is apparently legally allowed to perpetrate.Review fromJennifer R

1 starIf I could leave a negative review I would. During last December I wrecked my car. I immediately went through claims process and talked to an agent. I continued trying to reach this agent for a month straight and had to call progressive's general number multiple times just to get information on my claim. During this encounter with my first agent, I asked about the GAP insurance I had through progressive and he relayed to me the "my bank would cover that." However, I purchased GAP through progressive also. Anyways, I eventually was assigned another agent who did help with GAP question and assured me she would be more available and responsive. After that encounter, I again didn't hear from that agent for multiple weeks. I was assigned yet another agent. By this point, I was beyond frustrated for my service that I was STILL paying for. They didn't provide any financial assistance for my fully totaled vehicle until three months after my accident. All while I was still making payments on a vehicle that I didn't drive and didn't receive a rental for. After this incidence, I stayed with them and got full coverage on a 2014 Jeep and liability on two other cars. They didn't give me a quote over the phone. I got my first bill and they changed my rates from $160's for full coverage on a 2017 to $480 a month for an older full coverage and two older liabilities. I called other insurances and got the same coverage for more than half the price and way better service. I will NEVER recommend using Progressive to anyone.
