I do not recommend Progressive Insurance. They did a classic Bait & Switch tactic on me. I spent about an hour entering my information online, got a claim number but wanted to speak to a rep, I called and they made me do everything over again even after stating I had a quote. In summary I was asked for all my personal info. including my drivers license # and got a quote for $107.53 I asked that the quote be saved for later. I called later again with my quote # and was told $213 then I asked to speak to a manager-- he mentioned no fault accidents and said to contact Lexus Nexus, then I said okay I'll get the plan, he transferred me to sales. The rep proceeded to ask repetitive questions once more as if it was a new quote; she stated it will be $240 due to not enough coverage-- but my state allows Liability, so I am unsure how she came up with that. So in a matter of hours my quote changed three times which left me beyond frustrated and not insured when I picked up the car. My entire time was wasted. There are other people who have similar experiences. It seems like they are trying to get the highest dollar possible from customers. DO NOT GET PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE. They get you excited but when it's time to pay they increase the price. Very bad business practices.

Terrible, I hit a deer and had to threaten them for them to send out an adjuster to assess the damage. They want you to take pictures which means you can miss damage. But they save money. They also allowed the fire department that came to my son's accident to bill $875 for property damage. Even though property was damaged. In short, Progressive is fine as long as you never file a claim. Good prices, just terrible support.

Complete rip off. I use them for one term to ensure multiple vehicles and after that term and having no accidents or tickets, they quoted me $5000 over their competitor when I called to cancel they decided on their own to keep my insurance going for 30 days and at the end of 30 days, they use their lawyers to sue me saying that I never notified them in writing. They are a complete rip off. I don’t recommend them to anyone JOHN.

Wish I could give zero stars. I had a policy for 8 years and the one time I needed help from them they made me pay. I was in a car accident as a passanger in a friend's car and required medical attention. In NJ apparently this had to be claimed.l under my personal auto insurance personal injury protection so I did as I was supposed to and alerted Progressive. Shortly after that they added 4 people to my account based on my forwarding mail adress. They added my finances family members and a random person who name we had never seen in my life. Trying to get this rectified was a nightmare I was on the phone for 3 to 4 hours a day for 4 days. I was treated poorly and everyone was incredibly rude. They scammed me out of $900 using complex technicalities. Please save yourself trouble in the future and steer far away from Progressive. Treating people poorly is a sport to them.

My car broke down in Binghamton on Friday, June 20 at 9 PM. I have roadside assistance included in my car insurance policy, so I used the insurance app to request help.
I received a call shortly after and was told I would need to pay approximately $450 because the tow was outside the "15-mile radius limit." I paid the amount and was informed that Val-U Auto would be handling the tow. I was initially told the wait would be 90 minutes. I waited in my car at night and made several follow-up calls.
The next morning (Saturday at 10 AM), I was told Val-U Auto wasn’t responding, and Progressive would connect me with another towing company—Junk Auto. I received confirmation of this, but no one arrived.
At 2 PM, a tow truck from Val-U Auto finally showed up. The driver said he couldn’t take the car to the final destination but would bring it to Val-U’s lot on Conklin Road. He said someone else would deliver it to the intended location later that evening.
I went to the drop-off location to wait, but the car didn’t arrive until Sunday at 6 PM—a total of 44 hours after my initial request. I paid $450 for the tow on top of already paying for roadside assistance through my insurance. This does not reflect the “24/7 assistance” that was promised.
To make matters worse, I later discovered that Val-U Auto and Junk Auto are the same company. That feels misleading and raises serious concerns.
So I ask—who is responsible here? The towing company, Progressive, or both? I don’t expect just a call center to pick up the phone—I expected real, timely help. And I certainly didn’t expect to pay out-of-pocket for this kind of experience.

I had wind damage to my 2024 travel trailer in 2025 with a bottom side panel hanging seven feet out into the other lane . Progressive denied paying for damage citing "Damage to the **** ******* ***** ***** was due to wear and tear." A new trailer with wear and tear???" I will be moving my coverage to another company!

If I could give no stars, I would. I have filed a claim with Progressive due to a car accident that was not my fault, and I am not the policyholder. They have put me through absolute agony, displayed scare tactics, intimation, and then proceeded to not respond for 20 days despite calls, texts, and emails. The person in charge of my claim even stopped my rental when my car was not finished being done, on the same day she went on vacation. No one else can extend the rental but, her and her manager and they have been MIA since the 6th of June and it is now the 26th, 20 whole days. This company is a scam and should truly be shut down. I used to have insurance through progressive and they scammed me out of hundreds of dollars, adding random charges on my policy each month and I went insane until being reimbursed. This company has caused me so much grief, financial loss, and distress.

Wish I could give a zero! Please never use progressive home! Worst experience of our lives. Rude agent. Didn’t cover ANYTHING! Changed my deductible without telling me or my permission! 16k $ to be exact for “wind and rain” didn’t cover food lost wouldn’t cover roof for shingle matching. Horrible experience! Wouldn’t wish this company on my worst enemy. Save yourself shop around!
