Let me start off by stating progressive is actually a pretty decent company overall, But their commercial insurance 'arm' is complete garbage. More so to do with their underwriters, or lack there of. (which i guess falls on the parent company cutting costs) I currently have an auto policy with 3 vehicles, Motorcycle, snowmobile, home, boat, and up until recently commercial. I will soon be switching all policies to a new company. The underwriters 'flagged' my policy and alerted me they needed proof of residence where the vehicle would be parked. Which i stated would be my house. I guess each department can not see each orther, because they insure my home, which i would think would be proof enough, or enough to not 'flag' my policy. I attempted to call for about a week straight starting at roughly 10 am and would be on hold for the day waiting for underwriters almost daily being told that they were closed when 5pm rolled around, for the last few 3 ive been trying to get in touch intermittently, because i work, and cant spend 8 hours a day on hold. My policy canceled and they can now not insure me for 12 months due to the fact that progressive cut labor costs and does not employ enough people, not even to help their 'premium' members.
They will be losing a previously loyal customer and will never again be a recommended company. Terrible management/head decisions lead to extremely poor customer service.

I canceled my policy with Progressive and was still charged a non-waivable $50 “policy fee” despite having no claims, minimal service, and no clear warning about the fee being non-refundable. I tried to escalate and was told no one had the authority to help. This fee feels like a penalty, not a service charge.

I wish I could rate progressive a zero star. word of advice run for the hills. for starters customer service is so poor its not even funny. my billing for renewals $347, $410. $522. when I call Progressive I was told parts are getting more expensive, granted I never put in a claim. they also said it went up because I had an improper turn, to be transparent it's a ticket I paid $100 for , however my policy went up over $1000, of course the agent had the nerve to tell me its only $600. I can't imagine how much it would be if I had an actual accident. after being with progressive over the years I couldn't believe how I was treated. when I finally went in the app and chatted with an agent to cancel, the agent told me she wanted to send me cancelation documents in the mail which would drag the policy out for another week or two. I have auto pay so I understood her assignment, and ask for the cancelation effective immediately. I told her to send me anything they needed to be sign electronically using my email. she then proceeded to tell me if I didn't provide my information she was going to sign me up for non-renewal. to say the lease I was appalled. I took screen shots of the messages and will be uploading them. I did this review to alert people that even if you have to pay more someplace else, do that at lease you'll be treated like a customer. Progressive increases without notification, poor customer service, and don't even miss a turn by accident.

I have had this company paying for full coverage for my vehicles. My car was stolen and I filed a report with them while the police were on the scene and after I spoke to someone the next day I was asked to send in personal information such as 3 month bank statements and give permission to have my credit pulled to see if I had placed my car in a cash title loan, I replied to her no and if she was to do her job she would see through the DMV it is a clean and clear title. I then was asked to send in call logs for the day before and the day after which was sent multiple times, followed by a email stating I did not authorize my credit or financial released to them. Heard nothing from the adjuster, the next call I get is from another adjuster asking for the same thing and she got the same answer, she went on to state that the first adjuster was out on leave and did not know when she would be returning but they could not get into her computer which is why the information is being requested gain. All lies, but again I refused to send anything over again and told her that it should be under my claim not stuck in her computer. They have no problem taking money from you because its apart of their salary but, if they have to pay out its like giving them your first born. The car was totaled according to them, but then they send me letter to go pick up the vehicle from the scrap yard where they placed it at and have it brought to my home(SMH) because they don't have access to her files. This sound more like a legal battle but, everyone be aware of this company for violation(s) of your rights, they try to make it seem like its apart of the process but its not based on other companies I have spoken to. RIP OFF CITY If I could put a negative star times 10 I would

If I could give them a zero, I would. I purchased car and house insurance from them approximately 2 years ago. I recently had a rock hit my windshield that caused a crack. I called Progressive to initiate a claim and they told me that I had a $500 deductible. When I purchased the policy and chose the deductible, I thought it was for collision as I've never had a deductible for glass. I filed a dispute and was told someone would call me within 48 hrs, it never happened. I had to call back and got no satisfaction and was pushed onto someone else who was rude. I never used profanity as I would never want someone to speak to me that way. The woman hung up on me and when I tried calling back, the call wouldn't go through. I think she might have blocked me. I was insured by a company for over 30 years and never had a problem but unfortunately they were bought out by another company so I had to find a new company. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE, THIS COMPANY IS HORRIBLE !!! DO A CUSTOMER REVIEW ON THE DIFFERENT INSURANCE COMPANIES AND FIND THE BEST ONE. E EN IF THE PREMIUM MIGHT BE A LITTLE HIGHER

They were awesome till today when I got hung up on in the middle of a qoute and then had the rudest customer service with 5 or more employees. They transfer you to someone else when you wanna see their supervisor so they don't get into trouble

Please if save yourself the time and avoid using this company!!! They are thieves!!!!!! I feel they lure you in with lower pricing and then even lower when adding going paperless and automatic deductions. This is where they get sneaky and create unwanted policy in underwriting and just add anyone living in your home to full coverage cars. They did this to me!!! They added my 18 y/o son who has his own car and policy with another company just because they can. They had access to my account and deducted nearly 1500$ from my account. Once I realized what has happened they said it was too late and they attempted to reach out to me by email but because I had agreed to go paperless I missed the email. They said I am responsible to open every email I receive from them. Do not go paperless and do not provide credit card information and maybe they won't be able to steel from you like they did me.

Progressive Renters insurance should be AVOIDED at all cost. It's taking me months to cancel a renters insurance policy and they will give you the run around. Horrible way to run a company!!!

Ive had Proogressive car insurance on my last 2 vehicles. The first car was totaled after a deer ran into it. It was strictly cosmetic yet they refused to fix it. Even so, the process was seamless and i continued on. Mind you in 2016 my monthly payment was $160 for full coverage….
I got another car, also full coverage. By this time my rate was up to $180. I had the car for 2 years when i was in a 3 car serious accident caused by a young man driving recklessly. He was arrested on the scene due to video surveillance on a near by house. Now my rate has increased monthly up to $336 That car was severely damaged and they totaled that. The adjuster was a snarky unhelpful man who was located out of state. He wanted to total the car based on 2 photos that only showed exterior damage. I admit the car had very bad damage, but photo didnt capture. He argued with me that he is “experienced” in this and i asked him how he could determine the outcome from another state without looking at it in person. I could not afford a new car and was scrambling to have a way to work. My declarations page clearly stated i had rental car coverage for 30 days after an accident. I needed that desperately to get some money together. He told me “thats not what it means”. And they gave me 7 days. I had to drive after both incidents way out of my way to pick up settlement checks. The office staff was not professional at all, both in dress and demeanor. I just got my renewal for 6 months and my monthly payment has more than doubled to $745 a month. When i called to inquire the response was that i had an at fault accident and although it wasn't my fault “thats just how it is now”. I have never caused an accident in the 45 years I've been licensed to drive. Needless to say at this point Progressive Ins can kiss my business goodbye. I got a quote for under $300 with full coverage elsewhere. They are the worst.

This is one of the worst insurance companies, if not the worst, I have ever used. My name is ******* ******* and I have used Progressive for a little over a year. I got T-boned in October of last year (2024). I had full coverage for that vehicle. I have not received a single cent to help with that car. I had to get a lawyer involved to get anything going for it.
In 2025, I was hit by a semi-truck that fishtailed into me. I repeated numerous times that no driver was found at fault because the truck driver who hit me ran. It was a hit-and-run incident. Progressive decided all on their own that somehow a semi-truck fishtailing into my truck was my fault and refused to help me with any of it. I canceled insurance with them this year after they expected me to pay $900 for a vehicle with full coverage they haven't helped with and two liability vehicles. If you want good coverage for your vehicle, you would be better off seeking other options.
If I could leave less than one star, I would.
