***************************** sold us a roof from Erie Home on 9/6/23. He violated FTC's Cooling Off Law where "by law, the seller has to tell you at the time of the sale about your right to cancel. The seller also must give you two copies of a cancellation form. One copy is for you to keep. The other copy is to send to the seller if you decide to cancel your purchase. A copy of your contract or receipt. The contract or receipt should be dated, show the name and address of the seller, and explain your right to cancel." This is suppose to be given to ALL parties who sign the contract orally, which he did not make known to myself. He also did not provide us with a copy of our contract after signing, which again violates federal law. The roof was then installed on 9/20/23 with various issues. When an **** employee named *** came to do an inspection afterwards, we brought to his attention multiple issues that were done incorrectly. Ridge venting, drip edge, power vent installation, staples being used in the underlayment. ****** specifically told us on 9/6/23 that they has special nails they used to place the underlayment, which is what sold us on their roofing system. After calls and text with *****, a supervisor at ****, and a trip to our house, ***** made it known that our roof needed a complete tear down and reinstallment. We spent the entire day pointing out mistake after mistake with ***, who did not see the mistake we were mentioning, which led us to no longer wish to work with **** after such material breaches. We have spoken with *********************** (on 9/25/23) the Regional Sales Director as well as ***************************** (on 11/7/23) the Sales Representative who sold us the roof installation and both said we would hear back from them in a few days about issuing a refund. We have not heard back and have not received a refund.Business Response

I am very happy with my roof. What I am not happy about is the fact that I was promised a 5% referral fee for referring a friend who also contracted with Erie Metal and had a roof installed. I was told by the Erie Roof Representative that I would receive the check within one month post installation of my friend’s roof in front of a witness to the conversation. I did not get it. Despite numerous text messages to and from the Rep promising me the check, I still do not have it 3 months later. (I have all the text messages and can provide them as well as a notarized affidavit from the witness). I called the company a week ago and received a case number and was told someone would get back to me. Big surprise no call. I will not be referring them to anyone else and will most likely tell people to stay away from them as they make promises they have no intention of delivering.Business Response

I am 81 years old and my 1250 sq ft home needed a new roof.
I saw an online advertisement for Erie-Home that advertised their work as installing the “Best Roofs.” Shortly after calling them, two salesmen showed up with a presentation of what they said was excellent and unique products “only available to them.” We later discovered that their products were not at all unique to Erie Home and in fact, substandard.
The company’s initial estimate of $27,000 shocked us so much that we declined. However, the salesmen continued to pressure us, assuring me that their system was superior to that of any other company and that their installers were exceptional professionals. When we continued to refuse to sign the contract, they recalculated the quote, adding gutters, and dropping the price to $24,000. They even provided us with “reports'' that showed similar sized roofs in our neighborhood on average, $23,000. After seeing this “evidence,” we finally agreed to move forward with the installation.
Several months after the completion of their job, I noticed that some of the shingles weren’t sticking to each other and the roof had hump and voids in it. I didn’t know whether there was a problem yet so I had my son contact some local roofing companies to inspect the work. At least three companies told me that the roof had not been installed correctly and would need to be replaced entirely. They quoted a new roof at an average price of $12,000.
I then contacted the Village of Mt. Prospect about whether the roof had passed inspection and was informed that they had never requested a final inspection. The Village sent out an inspector who confirmed that our roof did not meet code requirements. He then reached out to Erie-Homes, giving them two weeks to reach out to them and to me to review the failed inspection. As of today, there has been no response from Erie-Home.
I am seeking a refund for my roof.Business Response

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:The representative from Erie Home came and replaced screws around the chimney (different color screws). This is not the problem with the roof. The problem with the roof is shown in the report from ******** ******* (as collaborated by other roofing companies that came out) and has NOT been addressed by Erie home. The attached ******** report clearly states what is wrong and also includes picture of the issues. Some of these are; Eave underlayment and single install detail is wrong, rake edge flashing is under the underlayment, valley shingles have hump and voids, chimney flashing and sealant doesn't match the roof shingles.

Erie Home came out with the village building inspector and they have stated the roof is up to code and passes inspection.Customer Answer

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:The inspection report states that the inspection was from the ground level. How can the inspector see the work from ground level? I had three different roofing contractors come out and inspect going up on the actual roof. If you look at the report from ******** it includes pictures and description of why the roof is done incorrectly. The fact is, the work was done incorrectly and I was charged twice the cost of what the roof should cost (compared to the three other roofing contractors I had come out).

A salesman came to the door asking if we were interested in speaking to someone about replacing our roof. We were interested in what they had to say, but I was very concerned about the project's cost while we are planning our wedding. The salesman made quite the production about doing everything in his power to get us a good deal and help us with pending wedding expenses while continuing with the project. The first thing we were promised was no payments for the first three months. Turns out that was incorrect so in an attempt to rectify that they offered a $900 rebate. (Which for the record, is not equivalent to three months' payments. If the amount were actually equivalent to three months' payments it would be $1,439.43) We were also supposed to receive a rebate of $1,500 from a scratch-off promotion we were given when initially making the appointment. $2400 in rebates in total. Our project was completed on June 28th, 2023. We have waited beyond the time allotted for them to deliver the rebate. I have contacted the customer service team with no response and no resolution. I am now paying interest on expenses I was promised I would have a rebate from Erie Construction to cover. I believe to rectify this situation not only am I entitled to the money I am owed but the money they have cost me for the months of interest on the funds they failed to deliver as contracted.Business Response

On or approximately a week ago my neighbor's had the Erie business come out to waterproof their basement. While doing so my fence was struck hard enough to break and make other parts lean on my tree. When I came outside and noticed it. I stated that you guys broke my fence. No one said anything they looked at me and processed with there work. I waited to see if they would at least put it back up or a bracket something to make it look better. They totally ignored me. Look at me as if my fence was like that when they came. When I went to try to fix it a board fell on there truck and one gentleman just propped it up on my fence like "whatever" and continued his conversation on his phone. I waited because I thought as a company that you would make sure to at least try to patch it. No a week went by all work completed and Not a sole said Sorry or anything as to how they can rectify the situation. As a single Mom who is not able to fix everything. I didn't expect them to help tear my things up. After a couple of days and no one said anything me outside and stated if it wasn't fixed I was going to tell anyone that would listen how you did me property. As long as you got your money! Forget your damages.Business Response

Date of contract 8/1/23--- Date of 2nd contract after inspection 8/18/23 written by install manager *** ******* saying Erie Home to replace front of house fascia. Erie Home to replace siding on driveway side of house, siding to be agreed with customer. Erie Home to cover cost of replacement directly. Erie home to give gift card in amount of $300 to customer. Product to be approved by customer before install. This was signed by *** ******* and *******. He took a picture of the contract with his phone and said he would have it for his file.l He offered to do this contract because we had lots of trouble with the installation and wanted cost of decking removed. The siding we have has been discontinued so do not want to replace it. On 8/18/23 *** wanted us to pay the balance of the contract , but I said no until he offered to write this 2nd contract. Salesman **** ******, insisted checking in attic for water damage, said we needed new decking and roof before winter. Crew started tear off when they arrived only covering shrubs. Siding was not covered, tar marks all over, yellow spots all over, cleaning took off finish. No one speaking English,,but was told there would be someone here for whole project. They had no intention of putting up new decking, because they did not bring it until afternoon, only 4 sheets and used only 1/2 sheet.l *** is no longer working there I understand. He told me to contact ***** ****, his boss in Oklahoma, which I did but he has been no help. I also contacted the Corp office *** *** ****. ******* there gave me a service ticket on 10/27/23 #********. She said someone would call and make an appointment to see what can be done. Received no call. I wrote another email to ***** **** on Nov 6, 2023, but no answer. I told him we would be willing to accept about $400 (materials) and the $300 gift certificate to settle this if agreeable. We were also promised a better gift by the salesman ,
