My metal roof was damaged by a hailstorm & needed replacement. I filed with State Farm (I have replacement insurance). Their estimate was $36k. Erie Homes estimate was $81k. The job was completed to my satisfaction. State Farm needs an itemized invoice to pay the difference in price. Erie Homes will not supply the required invoice. So now I’m at a stalemate & will probably have to get a lawyer! Erie was paid the $36k when the contract was signed. I financed the rest but decided I could just pay off the loan.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: this is the same response I received app. 2 weeks ago! Erie includes the materials break down but not the prices! I find it hard to believe other insurance companies do not need cost breakdowns when there is such a difference in estimate vs.cost.

Erie Home apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused. Erie Home came out on 2/17 to perform an inspection. The homeowner showed **** the affected areas, which were leaking across the garage at the same distance from the front to the back. After measuring the wet areas inside and comparing them to the exterior, we determined that the issue was related to the gutters and fascia board rather than the roof itself.
The home has no overhang, meaning water has no place to drain except down the side of the house. Additionally, the gutters were full of debris, which may be contributing to the issue. Erie advised the homeowner that we would return for a further inspection with a water test once the weather warms up. Erie Home has a scheduled date of this weekend to complete the test.Initial Complaint

Initially I was having issues with a couple areas of my old roof. The valleys were leaking in a small part of the home along with a minor icing issue in one of the 3 attic spaces. The other two attics were dry. The salesman for Erie home had sold to me assuring me that it was a roofing issue and that all of my issues would be resolved by adding one of their new roofing systems, and said they would not occur again. Said salesman also at the point of sale had claimed that Erie Home would address any insulation/venting issues in the attics prior/during the installation to make sure the new system would perform correctly. They failed to meet the salesman's claims and did not address my insulation/venting in the attics. Erie home cut open ridge vents, which caused a 'stacking' effect in the attic from the home, further worsening my existing issue in the one attic out of 3, along with creating issues in my other 2 attics with no prior issues. The prior attics were looked at before installation and were dry. Following this my situation became much worse and starting icing very rapidly in all areas of the attic, which lead to water dripping into every ceiling of my home which started to ruin every ceiling and create water damage throughout the home that did not exist before. I called out my town's CEO, another professional insulator, and a third construction builder/outsourcing engineer which all agreed they should have addressed these issues before installing a new system on my home which lead to essentially changing the physics of my attic, creating new issues and worsening existing issues in the one attic with prior issues. Also, Erie home had mentioned changing all necessary plywood that needed to be replaced due to aging, which upon inspection of the attics post install, they had left a lot of damaged and warping wood which was promised to be replaced upon installation. This had caused, water damage and icing, damaged ceilings, and bad plywood in the attics.Business Response

Erie Home sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this situation may have caused. We take customer concerns seriously and appreciate the opportunity to inspect and address them thoroughly.
Our team has conducted multiple inspections of the home to assess the reported issues. Upon review, we have confirmed that the work outlined in the contract has been completed in full, including the replacement of decking where necessary. However, our findings indicate that external factors beyond the scope of our roofing installation are contributing to the condensation in the attic.
During our inspection, we identified that the attic is not properly insulated, which is a key factor in moisture buildup.Specifically, we observed that the attic contains R13 insulation, which is designed for walls rather than attics. Proper attic insulation is essential in preventing condensation and regulating temperature, and we recommend consulting a professional insulation specialist to explore solutions that may help mitigate this issue.
We have made multiple attempts to contact the customer directly to arrange for a third-party inspection. However, as of now, we have not received a response. We remain committed to addressing any concerns and are ready to proceed with the inspection as soon as the customer is available to coordinate.Initial Complaint

I had several windows installed in my home in 2016. They have a lifetime warranty. I have all the documentation. I contacted the company almost 1 year ago to have them replaced. My home is freezing, the windows are drafty, And they don't close properly. They sent someone out to check them. I was told they were ordered in August and I have not heard anything since.Business Response

Contracted with erie construction to provide a new roof on house and garage. These were provided but after the job was complete some gutter guards needed to be installed. This was completed days latter. An area of a stucco panel wall appeared to be damaged. They agreed to fix this area and amended the contract signed it and stated they would be back to fix it. They haven't shown up for 7 months now and keep coming up with excuses. The latest is the weather is to cold. Recently it was 47 degrees and they still didn't show. I hired this company thinking they were a good company and true to their word. I am a senior citizen and am trying to cope with the stress of the situation. A manager told me they have no copy of the amended contract. I texted a copy to the install manager ***** at ************.Business Response

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:The business has had since last may to the present to fix the problem. I have stucco panels. To replace a panel one does not need it to be above 40 degrees day and night. If it were real stucco I would agree with the temperature scenario. It is a panel that is prefabricated. It is just another excuse by the company to not complete the repair.

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:They have advised me by text that they are not replacing the panel but simply want to use stucco mix with fiberglass tape. This is not an approved repair method from what I have researched. It was agreed by myself and their representative in the field last May that the panel would be replaced. So now we have the response to better business that they will replace it but I've been texted that they will mix up stucco and patch it. Two different responses. The proper way to fix it is to remove and replace the panel.

Erie basement water proofing started a job around Dec 4th 2024 and ever since we have had nothing but major problems. They broke 2 sewer plpes and flooded our basement w sewer. We made them hire **** to come out and **** clean our basement up. They wanted to just wipe it. Couldnt do laundry for a month. Had to pay at the laundromat. Cost us $100. We had our sewage tank drained because Erie thought that was the problem and it wasnt their fault for sewage leakage. So we had our sewage tank drained. $295 cost us. They said they will reimburse us but havent yet. We hired our own plumber to check the line and our plumber said Erie broke something. That plumber cost us $286. Twice cleaners had to come out and **** clean and sanitize and leave fans, dehumidifiers, air purifiers and such. We could NOT use the rest room and had to use buckets to go to the bathroom. This is pee and p*** No offer for a hotel. How degrading. Now today January 21st. Basement flooded again. Sent them picts. All we want is to be reimbursed for a job that they made absolutely miserable for us. 3 days turned into still not being done. But, they say they were right there to fix everything. Well, things did not need fix if they would have done things right the first time. They will not get me in touch with corporate. ******* ********Business Response

******* ********* project began on 12/5/24 and was completed on 12/9/24. On the final day of installation, the ******* identified a crack in the sewage pipe fitting. To ensure proper repairs, the affected area was left open for a plumber to fix the issue before completing the final section. ******* was informed and was understanding. The plumber completed the repair on 12/12/24, inspected the pipe with a camera, and recommended pumping the septic tank due to water near the cleanout, which was unrelated to our work. The visit cost $1,148, and the affected area was closed upon completion. ******* signed off on the work that same day, satisfied with the results.
On 12/16/24, ******* called reporting another backup. She hired a plumber who found an obstruction in the sewage pipe. Our plumbing partner was dispatched on 12/17/24 and confirmed there was debris blocking the pipe. Upon further investigation, a break in the pipe was found where our trench ran through. Our Field Supervisor, ****, came out that day to expose more of the pipe so the plumber could complete the repair. The plumber returned on 12/18/24, completed the repair, and **** restored the area, reconnecting the drain tile and sealing the concrete. As of that date, there were no leaks, and all work was successfully completed. The plumbing repairs totaled $1,200.
To ensure proper sanitation, a professional cleaning crew was hired. Initially, we planned to mop and disinfect the small affected area, but upon further inspection, the issue was more extensive. The cleanup team was sent out the same day at ******** request, costing over $5,200 for two visits.
On 12/26/24, ******** husband, ***, reported another backup occurring on Christmas night. Our plumbing partner was contacted immediately and determined the blockage was further down the pipe, beyond the wall leading to the septic. The plumbing company cleared the obstruction at no charge, acknowledging they should have inspected further during prior visits. A final professional cleaning was conducted after the issue was resolved.
Throughout this process, we have responded promptly to every concern, dispatched professionals for necessary repairs, and reimbursed all reasonable expenses, including the septic pump and plumbing costs. ******* later requested reimbursement for an increase in her electric bill, which was also submitted for processing. While we acknowledge the inconveniences faced, we have resolved all issues in an efficient and timely manner, covering all appropriate costs. We remain committed to customer satisfaction and have documented every step of the resolution process, including photos, should further verification be required.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because
the way things happened as Erie explains is not in the correct order. My husband also signed off on some jobs not just *******. Erie broke 2 pipes in 2 different sections of the basement . Our plumber used his sonar first not Erie and said they broke the main sewer line. If **** hadnt broke anything and done such a bad job they would not have had these xtra costs and had these **** come out. We also had no use of toilets for 4 day or showers. Buckets are great to use. We also just recently a week ago had another flood. Erie came out and checked things out and they have no idea why our basement was wet again. So we still have an unusable Basement. When can we put stuff away and not have things ruined? Everything is still piled up. All this was during holidays and very stressful. Pictures sent show most recent flood. Basements unusable again. The day we signed off on the job being complete the very next day we flooded. Obviously we would not have signed off.. A job that was supposed to take 3 days is still ongoing.. still flooding. Not happy!!!!!. We never flood in the winter. We have more problems now than we did before we hired Erie and I dont believe the problems will stop. Erie needs to reimburse us full price of the basement waterproofing. Where is our satisfaction??? No where! Just ongoing problems for alot of money. Yes, **** responded but they were the problem!!!!! They should have responded and fixed and paid for repairs. We just let them ruin our basement and take our money.
Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because: It does not satisfy what we are asking for. The text from **** on what Erie plans on doing when they come out to the house again sounds like blame is being put on the homeowners. For one the wall he refers to in the basment does NOT have water pouring in EVER. We were not talked to about a negative grade incline area that we had to fix. We were instructed not to get gutters specifically by the gentleman that last came out to look at the last flood in January. Erie acts like we were instructed or explained to do or take care of these things or we would not have a problem. We did not have this problem before bringing **** into the basement. Now we need gutters and also we need to fix a slab of concrete that has a negative grain incline outside and also a crack by the breezeway that has nothing to do with the basement. These are not problems we have had to deal with before. Erie is trying to come up with things to say is the problem in the basement because they dont know why it is flooding and they dont want it to be their fault. We are hesitant to have them back in the basement messing around with more areas and doing testing in case things get worse.
