I contacted Patio Enclosures in ******* ** in September to have a design consultation to add windows to an existing porch. The design consultant, came to my house, inspected the porch, and put together a window project quoted at over $20K. He examined the structure, which is fully exposed and easily accessible, and said that the project would easily be completed, he mentioned no structural problems. That evening we put a down payment of $1,000 and later put an additional 30% down payment (over $6,843.17) to begin the project. Several days later, ****** informed my wife that Patio Enclosures was unable to move forward on the project as quoted due to structural issues. When I contacted the office to receive a refund, they were unwilling to give me a full refund and told me would hold $1000 for administrative fees. This fee is not specified anywhere in the contract, but still refused to agree to a full refund. I am asking for a full refund of $7,843.17 because I did not break the contract, rather Patio Enclosures backed out of the contract by refusing to carry out the work as quoted to me. Looking at the many complains listed here against Great Day Improvements, it's clear that this is a systematic practice from this company to bully customers by pushing predatory contracts. It's bad business and only a matter of time before this company gets hit by a class action law suit.

      Mr. *****,

We regret that your project was unable to move forward. We understand your frustrations and have done our best to explain the circumstances surrounding your project. There are administrative costs surrounding the start of a project that are unavoidable. Someone from your local branch will reach out to you as soon as possible to best further clarify the details of the contract. We do our best to provide every customer with the most ideal experience. Sometimes we miss the ***** but we do not deceive or push a contract on to our prospective customers. We pride ourselves on our no-pressure sales practices and providing exactly what our clients are imagining. Again, we apologize that we were unable to do so in this situation but the elements that impacted that decision were out of our hands.

I sent three pages of documentation of problems to the president of the company. This summer a leak occurred in the sunroom and a window shattered during a storm. They have ignored my complaints. I want this shoddy work repaired.

I contracted this company to screen in my patio on November 30th, 2022. I live in a new neighborhood and explained to ******************* that I had to get *** approval prior to moving forward. **** assured me that the contract would be null and void in its entirety if the *** did not approve it. No one in their right mind would agree to a contract if they thought they would lose money, but again, **** assured me that would not be the case. On December 8th I sent the *** denial letter and asked that the contract be canceled and the deposit of $4137.56 be refunded, the *** denied because of materials being used. I did not want this and still want my patio screened it, the *** denied it, not me. I have emailed this company, I have called this company, left a voicemail, I even reached out to the credit company, not one person will reply to me. I have read numerous complaints since beginning this horrific ordeal and apparently this is how they do business, taking advantage of widows and disabled veterans. This is stealing, dishonest, and quite frankly a scam. When your salesman assures a customer that a contract will be null and void in its entirety, you should honor this. I am seeking a full refund of the deposit. The contract states deposit will be refunded if canceled within 3 days, I canceled in seven, because it took that long for the *** to come out and handle the request. I'm not quite sure why you're even charging a deposit prior to *** approval to begin with and thats why I believe its a scam. Who is going to cancel in 3 days when they actually want the product and are hoping it gets approved? And again, your salesman assured me the contract would be null and void in its entirety due to *** denial. Please return my deposit of $4137.56. I'd also like to ask you to change your practice of cheating people out of their hard earned money.

      ******************,

We hate that we could not proceed with out HOA approval, we did ask for an HOA denial letter and it was received on 12/15/22.  We will be refunding the amount less expenses and our team should be reaching out to answer any questions you may have. We have moved through this process as quickly as possible. Contract was booked on 11/30/22, HOA denial letter was received on 12/15/22. As we are only 22 days from booking, we feel that we have done our best to resolve all of this in as timely of a manner as we can.

I contracted with Patio Enclosures on 10/08/2021. Paid $11,031 down on $36,771 total job. Was told would have completed by Aug. They took measurements and then I removed flooring, railings etc from my existing porch per their instructions. In Aug I enquired as to when they would begin. I was informed they had lost measurements and needed to get them again. Through all of this no one was responding to any of my emails or calls. On Oct they again called and said they had lost measurements. I left work to meet them and they never showed up. On Oct 13 they sent me and email again wanting me to leave work to meet them. At this point all I had gotten was lie after lie and all summer without even my current porch. When I told ********************************* I wanted to cancell the contract he said he would speak to his supervisor and get back to me that day. Now he won't answer my calls or respond to emails.

On 9/24/22 a salesman from Patio Enclosures (company that installed our existing patio room in 2008) comes to our house to give us a quote on changing our existing sliding glass door to one with a keyed lock. After 1.5 hours of chit-chat about everything but the request, I ask him again to tell me how much it will cost because both my husband and I have an appointment in 1.5 hours. He measures, looks on his tablet-sized computer, studies possible solutions and comes up with something he thinks will work.He and I both know that it HAS to be exact or it won’t open because of an existing support post.He states that an installer will come out to measure for sure.I need to initial and sign the contract for this to happen.Neither of us can read his computer screen because of its size and positioning in the sunlight.I click to initial so I can hurry to my appointment. He states that door will be $10,717.92, with $3,215.38 down, $6,430.75 upon receiving the materials, and $1,071.79 upon completion.I figure it’s a quote and sign it (the company had always been great; we trusted them). He then asks for the down payment and, foolishly, I charged it.He says he’ll email me the paperwork. The next day the salesman sends the specs of new door and they don’t look right; I call him but have to leave a message. The installer comes to measure on 9/29, but he hasn’t read the order so is not sure the door will work.I tell him to stop any order.I call the office administrator (OA) and the salesman and tell both not to order the door.On 10/6 I get an email from the OA telling me that the $6,430.75 she had tried to draw from my account was denied. I adamantly told her not to order any door; I had never authorized any withdrawal from my account.I told them all that I want my money back; I no longer trust them.On 11/8 I received another email stating that if I did not give them bad reviews, they would put a lock on my existing door for the $3,215.38 I have already paid them.

We had Stanek windows installed in 1995 and received the warranty. We had to have one window replaced a few years back after a temperature change blew the window into splinters. It was successful replaced within a reasonable time. Now it is very difficult to lock. Just recently another window splintered and I’ve been calling since Oct. 3rd at 10:28 a.m., Oct. 17th at 3:10 p.m., October 24th at 1:55 p.m., and I have called corporate headquarters on Oct. 31st at 8:55 a.m., plus a few more times. Each time in each location I have left a message with my name, telephone number and reason for my calling. No one has ever returned any of my calls! Winter is upon us and the bedroom (upstairs front room) is cold. I feel that this is not good customer service to say the least. I would really appreciate it if you could facilitate these repairs for me as I’m at my wits end at this point. A cold bedroom is not healthy and a splintered front window is definitely not attractive. Thank you very much!

I purchased a replacement window for my sunroom on 9/23/22 $1250.00. The representative came out to do measurements on the window the following week. I have not heard from them. I called twice and no response. This is poor business practice not to at least contact me with an ETA of when the replacement window will be installed. We are going into winter and I need the window to be replaced imme

Paid $7500 for a screen room. Sales person sold my mother a concept that we later found out was not possible. Originally, as you can see from his drawings there was to be one middle sliding door to mirror our sliding door from the Living Room. What we received was two sets of sliding doors, so instead of two doors, we have four. He took advantage of my 80 year old mother by not explaining the design and concept properly to her. He took her money, and when we tried to get a resolution through the company their resolution was unsatisfactory as it did not actually take care of the problem. We found out when the installer came back out that the sales persons concept and drawings were not executable, and all he could do was to pin two of the doors closed so they would not longer be operable. Poor customer service, no to little communication, and as soon as they had my mothers money they washed their hands of the entire mess. They are no longer in communication with us to help resolve this issue.

I am unable to afford this project and need to be refunded. I was verbally abused by the regional sales manager, *********************, and threatened by him as he made very undignified remarks to me and mocked me for being a young widow. I was pressured into making a decision the day of the estimate as the price was only good for that date only which did not give me an opportunity to further research the company. I explained I would be traveling and **** called demanding money while I was trying to catch a flight. I want to sever ties with this company as their sales associate is customer service oriented but their managers are thieves who bully and torture women.

I am rejecting this response because:

The remaining $1500 needs to be refunded. No work has been done to my home. My travel dates were made clear and I was threatened with the price increasing. I was heckled by ***** for being a young, widowed mother during our phone conversation and I want nothing to do with a company that bullies the vulnerable population. The $1500 theyre trying to steal needs to go to my children who watched cancer eat Daddy alive.

      Dear **********************,

We are truly sorry to hear you feel this way. We strive to create great experiences for our customers, which is why we dont employ high-pressure sales tactics. It is our understanding that you spent several hours designing the perfect space with your consultant, were extremely excited about your planned project and praised him for an excellent job. You then signed a binding contact to put the *****************.Your decision to cancel the project occurred after the clearly defined cancellation window had passed. Our regional sales manager reached out to help alleviate your concerns and offer additional financing options but was met with hostility and a string of verbal attacks from you. We are an upstanding organization and employ professional and caring employees who do all they can day in and day out to create great customer experiences. We have cancelled your contract and refunded the down payment less the cancellation fee and administrative costs incurred on the project.

      Thank you,
      Great Day Improvements

      Customer Answer

      Date: 11/21/2022

I am rejecting this response because:
I made it very clear I was traveling and pressured and manipulated into making an immediate decision. No one should be pressured into a $100k decision and only given 4 hours to make it. Nothing your company did equals $1500 that youre trying to steal. You dont test drive a car for a day and forced to make a car payment if you decide not to buy it. Your company is attempting to steal from a widow with small children. The longer this drags out; the more relieved I am I didnt choose a company whose only goal is stealing money from the vulnerable population.
