I signed with Patio Enclosures in November of 2023 for <$52,000 for a 12x16 sunroom.
The project was not completed until June 2024 for what I can only assume is negligence.
Prior to running the permits, 811 was not called. As a result, when I had a concrete company tear up my old patio, they discovered a rusted gas line. Because Patio Enclosures neglected to call, I had this gas line exposed at the front of my house for a month while I found someone to address it.
Furthermore, I would routinely have to call Patio Enclosures to get any updates. They would go no contact for weeks at a time. I had to call the ******* ** ****** to get an update on the permit since I didn't hear from them. It was only when I called and said that the ******* confirmed the permit had been approved for over a month that they told me it was done.
The salesperson also told me things that were untrue. He told me they would take care of the ceiling fan, but I had to provide it. He estimated initial project completion for January, but it wasn't finished until June.
To top it all off, we have a bent track for one of the screens that will not close properly. They said they would send someone to fix it, but I have heard nothing.Business Response

We want to express our sincere apologies for the less than
satisfactory experience you had with our services. Your feedback is invaluable
to us, and we genuinely appreciate you taking the time to bring this matter to
our attention. We are committed to providing a positive experience for all our
customers, and it is discouraging to hear that we did not meet your
expectations on this occasion. Our records indicate our Regional Operations
Manager has spoken with you and is refunding your account $500. We stand behind our finished product and will have someone
address the issues with your screen/track. Thank you.- The Great Day Improvements Team

I am rejecting this response because: $500 is a poor offering for such a serious issue. The gas line was rusted and exposed during several severe weather incidents, placing my entire family at risk. That being worth less than 1% of the value of my contract seems hardly commensurate to the anxiety, unsafety, and hazard this posed.

We called *** prior to starting your project. The gas line that was discovered was not in use and did not place any danger to you or your home. We are an upstanding company and we would not leave our customers in a dangerous situation. Our offer of $500 in concessions is final. Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because:
Attached is my invoice to ******** Plumbing, who came out to replace the gas line. The plumber there can verify that the line was live.
Furthermore, if the line was not live, then the project manager should have known that instead of telling me to get the line redone and stopping progress on pouring the footers. I'm certain your records will show those correspondences.
I also had ******** Gas out to verify that the line was live.

Several years ago I had a sliding patio door installed. I was very happy with the quality of the door and the smoothness of the installation and recommended Staneo to a number of friends and associates. Unfortunately, two years ago, the door stopped closing due to a piece of trim between the two doors coming loose. I contacted the local Stanek office to have it repaired under the lifetime warranty, but was told it wasn’t covered (no explanation as to why). I have tried contacting them repeatedly over the last two years (including this week) and don’t receive a reply. I would like to have this issue repaired under the lifetime warranty that I was sold.Business Response

I had a patio enclosure installed in December 2023. Unfortunately, the installers placed the west wall such that it enclosed the vents necessary for the safe operation of my fireplace. I only learned this in January when my fireplace company visited to install new fire logs.
I also noticed that many doors do not flow smoothly and that much of the sheet metal separating the windows is wavy and unsightly.
I have been trying to get this resolved since February--with no satisfaction. Last week I sent a certified letter to your Phoenix office only to be returned by the Post Office. Apparently, the address I had in my contract was not accurate. I will send another letter to your office in Ohio.
Please help me with this.Business Response

I will call my contact at Great Day on Monday, July 8 to get a status report. At this point all I know is that their representative said they would address my concerns. That was on June 19. They asked that I give them a couple of weeks.Customer Answer

I called the Patio Enclosures contact (**** at ************) on Monday of this week and left a voice mail message for him. He has not returned the call. He visited my home on June 20 and acknowledged the work required and said he would be back to me within 2 weeks with a work plan. I have heard nothing. I will call again on Monday.
In the meantime, the family across the street from me had Patio Enclosures give them a quote. They asked me for my views. I would like to recommend Patio Enclosures, but I will have to be truthful. I am disappointed with them. I hope they get their act together and rectify my concerns. Overall, I like my enclosure and I am sure my neighbors would be happy with theirs should they accept the quotation.
Please keep your file open. If you could nudge them to take some action, that would be great. I have no objection to your sending them this communication.

Our sunroom suffered heavy hail damage in August 2023. We signed a contract with Patio Enclosures on 8/8/23 and put a down payment of $16,763.09 for a new sunroom to replace the damaged one. When we signed the contract, we were told that once the design was done and approved by the city/county, the materials would be ordered for an additional payment of $16,763.09. We'd pay the remainder when the room was finished. The sales rep told us we should have a new sunroom by the end of January 2024. A representative came to our house and took measurements for the new room and then was supposed to draw up a custom design for us. Since the measurements were taken, we have seen no progress toward the actual sunroom being installed. We were told repeatedly that there were issues with the county approving the plans but were told in April that those issues were resolved, and they were applying for a permit. On May 28 ******* at Patio Enclosures texted us that the permit was approved and there was some additional paperwork we needed to sign. After hearing nothing else about the paperwork, I texted ******* on June 7, and she replied via text that they were having permit issues despite having told me on May 28 that the permit issues were resolved. Since then, the company hasn't contacted us or returned our phone calls. We have waited 10 months and still have a damaged, leaking sunroom attached to our house. We would like a straight answer from the company as to what the problem is and are we ever going to have a new sunroom built? Can they fulfill their contract, or will they refund our down payment and release us from the contract so we can work with someone else to obtain a new sunroom?Business Response

We want to file a complaint about a project contracted through “Patio Enclosures” by Great Day LLC. As of May 29, 2024, the project has not been completed and the quality has not justified the expensive price tag. Since the beginning of the project, company employees have not answered questions about the project timeline, and scheduling. We have had two different Operations managers without explanation for why, and neither have tried to address our concerns or provide adequate explanations. The installation supervisor has also not been responsive. The only time the company reached out was to inform us of when the payment would be processed, which the company took from our bank account without direct authorization. Until the last payment was withdrawn and we learned nothing about it until months later when we received our bank statements. The bank refunded the last payment after an investigation that determined we had not authorized any withdrawals. The job has been a disaster, they estimated the job would take 23 weeks to complete. But, we are 40+ weeks in and the job is still incomplete. The company has constantly attributed delays to needing to ship the correct materials. This excuse has been used more than 5 times and it's not good enough to explain multi-month-long delays and shows poor planning. The quality of the work has been unsatisfactory. Building materials and tools were left behind, the wrong plug for the air conditioner was installed, work was left unfinished, months passed to finish sections, and the work using the silicone building sealant looks unprofessional. Any work completed was done after having called several times until some random individual responded and made a minimum effort to continue this project. It's important to note that none of the original employees who initiated communication have been involved since December, yet the company has charged the full project amount. We want a full refund and the job to be finished well.Business Response

On 4/11/2023, I signed a contract with Great Day improvements to replace our screened-in porch with a 3-season solution.
On 7/11/2023, I signed an upcharge of $1992.22 to replace the AV utility posts (originally contracted) with 6*6 wooden posts. I found this upcharge to be excessive, but was eager to get the project underway.
On 8/22/2023, a few days after starting, we were told by the worker (brand new to the company) that the job was completed, it was not. No one from Great Day came to inspect the work and our town building inspector had not yet been to the job site. We immediately contacted the company, sent them pictures of the incomplete work and asked why no one from the company had come and why the town inspector had not been called in to inspect the framing before everything was wrapped.
We were ignored by Great Day, but our account was charged for the final payment, which we disputed. Apparently, the project manager had left the company.
We spoke to the building inspector, who expressed frustration that he had not been called in for the original structural inspection and that no company representative was present. He failed the inspection. We had no project manager and an inept secretary kept asking us questions like where to find the inspection reports.
May 3rd, I speak with ******* ***** on the phone and he assures me that he has spoken to the town inspector and is eager to resolve the issues and complete the job.
May 6th, guys come out to dig footers and we are told that they will be back May 8th to complete the job. No one shows up May 8th. May 13th, I ask ******* when the job will be completed. I am told that they will need more money to complete the project to code. They have dug out footers and I have piles of dirt in my backyard and they are trying to exploit me again. This is over a year after I first signed the contract. This job is already $2K over what I originally agreed to pay and a year past when I signed the contract.Business Response

We appreciate your feedback and want to address your concerns
regarding the slab and footings. The existing slab was not included in our
contract. We obtained the necessary permit, and during the inspection, it was
required to confirm the presence of footings. As a goodwill gesture, we offered
to dig near the footings at no additional cost so the inspector could verify
them. This work was completed, but no footings were found, and this is why the
inspection failed. We informed you that completing the necessary work would
incur an additional cost, as this was not included in your contract, which you
declined to discuss further. Please see section 6 of your contract. We are an
upstanding company and do not try to get extra money out of our customers
unless it is absolutely necessary due to unforeseen circumstances as outline in
section 6 of your contract.

I am rejecting this response because:
I was informed that there would be an additional cost after the holes were dug. No one asked if I was willing to pay an additional cost before the work started, nor was I sent a change work order. I was told 1 week after the footers were dug that the company wanted more money. That is illegal. Additional costs must be disclosed before work begins.Customer Answer

Dear
******,As
previously mentioned, the team has done a thorough review of this project. The
building inspector required verification of footings under the original
concrete slab, which is why the holes were dug. No footers were found, which
are required to pass this project in your municipality. According to the team,
they provided you a price for our team to pour the footers. Or, should you
wish, you can choose someone else to pour the footings, which is why the team
left the holes exposed. Either way, your original foundation was not footered
and needs to be in order to pass inspection. Please let us know how you wish to
proceed.Thank

I am rejecting this response because:
On 5/3, I spoke with **** *, who assured me that he had spoken to the inspector, understood what needed to happen and would complete the job the following week. No mention of additional fees or change work orders. On 5/6, holes were dug and we were told that the project would be completed 5/8. No one returned or contacted me that week. 5/13, I reach out and am informed that there will be an additional charge to fill the holes that they dug. I said that additional charges should have been disclosed before my yard was dug up. I could have conferred with the inspector. No quote was provided and I was told that someone would be in touch. No one was in touch the following days. On 5/16 I reach out to both **** * and *** ****** seeking resolution and am ghosted.
5/18, I meet with the inspector who informs me that no one from Great Day is taking his calls and that if the holes remain, we may have property damage. At that point, it has been almost 2 weeks since the holes were dug and no one from Great Day is returning any communications from the town inspector or myself. To avoid property damage we made a plan with the inspector to bring the project to code and protect our home. We spent significant time and money to complete this ourselves, as we felt we were out of options.
We have paid all but the provisional credit of $2788.46 for this year-long project. I have a spreadsheet detailing the hours and materials to complete the job up to code that I am happy to provide. In the interest of getting on with it, I propose that we close this out and keep the credit, as our costs to complete the job are about equal to that.
I do have all expenses and correspondences documented.Business Response

On November 24, 2021, we signed a contract to purchase two patio enclosures (one to be stacked on the other) to be connected to our home's north wall looking out over **** ****. The price we paid was $99,927.83. The problem of multiple leaks on both levels has persisted since initial construction in the late spring of 2022. Repairs by Great Day Improvements in fall of 2023 alleviated one source of water, but not all. Water leaks drip and actually can stream down. The ceiling sags from the load of the water. During purchase, construction, and repair attempts we were assured that they'd had many happy customers whose patio enclosures were perfect near the shore. The company representatives have "blocked" emails and not returned text messages since fall of 2023. We consistently mop and clean up this mess, but feel they should make it right. In the past many family members have had beautiful patio enclosures and zero issues with the company and its products. We're greatly disappointed with how the company's customer service and quality have decreased so significantly and would like these problems remedied.Business Response

Thank you for your correspondence dated May 9, 2024 and May 21, 2024 in regard to our complaint against Great Day Improvements, LLC, ID ********.
Although the response from the business is encouraging after previously having received "blocked" responses to emails and no replies to text messages regarding the ongoing concerns about our project, we have spoken with ****** and arranged for work to be done starting on June 4, 2024. ****** had suggested May 20, but we already had an appointment for spider spraying on the exterior that morning. The delay was also due to the technician of choice, ****, going on vacation the week of Memorial Day.
Due to the nature of the problem involving rain and winds causing leaks, please keep this case open until we are agreed that the leaks have stopped. This extension should in not impact the company adversely as mother nature determines the testing timeline.Customer Answer

Repairs were conducted on June 4 by a technician as scheduled by the company. The technician caulked both holes left by the construction process and upright post joints that leaked from weep holes.
We are hopeful this will end our nightmare occuring during strong winds and heavy rains that have caused flooding in both of our patio enclosures since their construction.Initial Complaint

I am rejecting this response because: the amount of refund is significantly low.
In the attached CAD (***** footage), the initial plan was to place 12 footages. However, the only five footages were installed (see footage). Because you did not give any detail of the information before, I asked the footage company about quote for 12 footages for our porch area. Their total was $8,323.82 for 12 footages ($693.65/footage). The amount of refund should be at least $4855.56 ($693.65 x 7).

I spent over $10,000 on a screened in porch. They were quick and responsive in the beginning when it came to collecting that $10,000. Now after that we need a warranty repair, they completely ignore all emails and phone calls. I have been trying to get a hold of the local office for OVER ONE MONTH NOW and all I got was a rep from ***** who can set up an appointment that needs to be prepaid for. I will not be prepaying for an appointment if they can’t give me the common courtesy of contacting me back. I need the regional or higher up from the ** office to contact me. There is zero excuse to be ignoring a paying customer like this.
If I don’t get a timely solution I’ll be contacting the local AG office and demanding a full refund to the $10,000 as they are in breach of the contract we signed.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
They have not addressed my issue and issue is still not fixed. I will not close because they want prepayment to do the repair that they neglected for months to schedule. Why should I trust they’ll show up. My calls are being ignored by them.Business Response

I had Patio Enclosures come give me an estimate which seemed pretty fair. The job they did was horrible. They have been here about 15 different times and also not show up when they say they are going to come. When they do show up they just keep putting more caulk on top of the existing stuff. Sharp edges not finished and the metal is scraped up. They were supposed to start in Jan of 2023. I have 2 year warranty. They don’t answer my calls anymore. I leave messages and sometimes they call back and sometimes they don’t. Very dissatisfied with the work. I am a single female and feel like I have been taken advantage of.Customer Answer

They were supposed to come today. They called and said because of the weather they were not coming. However, we did not get any bad weather. Now they are supposedly coming on Tuesday next week. So I cannot answer your question until they actually show up. This **** they are sending has been here before, I believe. I cancelled my plans for today hoping to talk with them.Business Response

With the scope of
work that we had to do we felt it was best to reschedule due to the threat of
potential weather. The re-caulking would have been pointless had it rained immediately
after we applied it. Our records indicate our team was out on 5/7/24 to address
your concerns. We were unable to get a uniform surface with the trim on one post
because it has some warping to it. Thank you.

I still have about 10 month’s warranty. I would like to extend that for another 6 months. I feel the issues are not finished.Business Response

On 5/07, our team revisited the site and successfully completed the rework on caulking and coil around the door, alongside replacing the trim angle near the door with a larger one. During our interaction, it was conveyed that you were largely content with the work undertaken. The sole remaining issue pertained to the appearance of the coil on one of the posts. We clarified then that due to the nature of the materials used and the condition of the post, achieving a flawless coil appearance might not be feasible.
Regarding the warranty, it's imperative to note that the additional work performed subsequent to the completion of the installation was not warrantable. Rather, it was carried out with a primary focus on enhancing customer satisfaction and service. Thus, there exists no grounds for extending the warranty period.
We kindly request the Better Business Bureau to mark this complaint as resolved. Patio Enclosures has diligently fulfilled our contractual obligations and has endeavored to address the cosmetic concerns, which predominantly stem from inherent material characteristics.Thank You,
