I was instructed to park in what I mistook for this lot by neighboring business on a Sunday. I was unaware this was private property other than the business I was visiting, and there was no signage posted to the contrary. Further, I did not receive an initial notice, so the first notification I received had doubled the fee as a "late" fee - from $60 to $120. I messaged the business and asked them to send me the "sign" posted at this lot - and it's one tiny sign actually on a dumpster I parked next to! It did not look like a traffic sign, as it blends into the dumpster, and is evidently disguised to be camouflaged so as to remain un noticed by drivers looking for traffic signs - not trash information. When attempting to file an appeal on their website, one must first "agree to the terms" before proceeding to the appeal process, and the terms are agreement to be billed for the parking. I did not consent to their service then, and had the signs been visible I would not have chosen to park there as the entire vicinity was empty and i could have easily found a spot on the street or surrounding. I certainly do not agree to their "late fee" billing of double the fee, when I did not receive an intitial notice I had even been "charged."Effectively, they leave no way of contacting them, except for a PO Box. I have sent my dispute to their PO Box, but can not even get a delivery confirmation. When putting their mail coupon back into their return envelope, there is a window for the addressee information, but their address does not even line up with this window. It is evident they utilize whatever predatory tactics they can to incur, and run up additional, "charges" without consent or notification; and I dispute the validity of being able to incur a fee without knowledge or consent; much less to then incur a "late fee" DOUBLE the original bogus fee without actually receiving notification of such initial "charge."These fees must be dismissed, and better signage posted.

    Complaint: 20716841

I am rejecting this response because:

    1. The sign was not posted in a location that was expected - traffic information is not expected to be posted on the side of a dumpster. There was no way of knowing I was parking on private property that was not affiliated with the business I was visiting unless I knew to check a sign on a dumpster for traffic information, on a Sunday, for a parking lot attached to a business I was actually visiting and had every reasonable expectation that this parking lot attached to the business was affiliated. (Please find photo attached after I went back to visit the lot when I finally did receive a notice because I could swear there was no such sign or I would have willingly paid for parking and/or found another spot).

I frequently utilize paid parking, and can show that I do so weekly if not daily in downtown ********; and have no reason to have willfully skipped paying here IF I HAD BEEN MADE AWARE IT WAS A PAID LOT.

    2. This response fails completely to address the lack of first notice and subsequent doubling of a fee I was not even aware I had incurred. I never agreed to a late fee, as I did not have knowledge of soliciting a service, nor knowledge or agreement of continuing to incur fees.

    Sincerely,

I received a parking ticket in the mail from this company for parking in their lot without paying. I was confused because I never saw a sign that says you have to pay for parking. I went back to the lot to take another look and I found that they intentionally turned the sign around so that when you drive into the parking lot you can only see the (blank) back of the sign. There is no way to see the sign when you enter the parking lot unless you are looking in your mirrors for a sign, which is obviously not reasonable. In addition to this, the ticket that I received was my final notice, and the price of the ticket is doubled due to a late fee. I never received a ticket on my windshield. I never received a first notice. There are many other reviews that have the same complaints as me, so they are obviously doing this on purpose. Disgusting business practice.

I am rejecting this response because:
First of all, every sign goes along with the flow of traffic meaning you can only see the back of the sign. There is no reason you would turn the sign around like this other than to take advantage of a grey area in the law and take advantage of people. Also why dont you have anything to say about the fact that you didnt put a ticket on my windshield, didnt send me a first notice in the mail, and then just sent me a final notice where the ticket price is doubled because of a late fee? These are predatory acts.

I am rejecting this response because: this is just getting completely ridiculous now and it leads me to believe you are not even a real business at this point. you are joking when youre writing that. if you remove the late fee that you enforced by purposely sending me a notice late, i will pay the $60 ticket. i will not pay the late fee on the final notice because i never received an initial notice or a ticket on my windshield. these are predatory acts.

I have just received this enormous bill. I guess this company gets to double their bill if you don't pay in thirty days. You actually don't have 30 days to even respond but.... I received the bill on 8/21/23 appealed it and got denied. I didn't even get thirty days to respond.********* is doing a bunch of construction. Construction Trucks are everywhere parked on this particular road making it very hard to see. I ignorantly thought pay to park, okay I bought a tea and left. I did not have a phone that day. How are you supposed to pay to park? Pay to Park, I paid at the local coffee shop. I take it that everybody has the privilege to own a phone in todays world. This is just not, RIGHT!*****************************

    Hello there,

As we discussed by phone, buying a tea at another area business does not give you authorization to park your car at our location without paying your daily parking fee. There are no constructions vehicles on our location nor are any of the posted signs blocked from anyone's plain view or sight.

I received on a letter on August 21st, 2023 of a possible parking violation from Skyy Parking. Ticket No: 23BV070101. On July 1st, 2023, we entered the parking lot located on Washington St in *********. We have parked in this parking lot in the past and when we went to pay, noticed that there had been a major increase in price. Because of this, we decided to park somewhere else. My husband and daughter exited our car and I left the parking lot to find an alternative location. Because we did not physically park and leave our vehicle in this lot without paying, I do not believe this warrants the accused violation and associated fine. The company states that because we had our vehicle in the lot, we agreed to the pricing but you cannot local the price of parking without entering the lot and exiting your vehicle to scan the ** code to pay. To reiterate, the parking lot displays no signs within the lot or surrounding area that provide the actual cost to park there. You must take out your phone and scan the ** code to identify the price to park. The company is also lying, saying they have footage of me leaving the lot on foot, that is my husband leaving and moments later, I drive away in our vehicle. I have reached out to the ***************** to initiate mediation, which the company flat out refused. They also provided fraudulent information to the ****** *** and demanded my case file be closed. They issued a late fee to me, even though they did not respond to my appeal request in their guaranteed 10 day time frame. They will not return emails or calls and there is literally no way to communicate with this company. I see other complaints of individuals parking to pick up food. My situation is different as I returned to my vehicle and left as soon as I had identified the price. Please make this right.

I am rejecting this response because: As I mentioned previously, we intended to pay for parking in the lot until we realized the price increase. I have a 2 year old and yes, it does take more time for them to exit a vehicle compared to an adult. As soon as they left the vehicle, I took my vehicle and exited the parking lot.

    Sincerely,

This business profits from taking advantage of grey areas in the legal code to capitalize on fees. Their signage is not clear from the road and strategically placed to make the lot appear to look like a public use lot. Its placed in a city that has zero other pay to park lots, and directly in a public commons area. Predatory and immoral, especially in how their website and communication is handled. They are rude, lack empathy, and cut off all communication without debate after denying appeals.I pulled into this lot to grab a takeout pizza from the attached restaurant, and left my car for a documented 3 minutes. Didnt even know it was a pay lot until I was pulling out, because the signage is purposefully placed to avoid eyeshot. Received a $55 fee in the mail due to their sketchy DMV connections, with threats that it will double in 30 days and damage my credit. Im in talks with the city of Hillsboro, and considering starting a petition to get this shady business removed from our beautiful downtown area. Would not be surprised to see a class action lawsuit develop eventually judging by the volume of complaints Ive read here and heard from locals in the area. Avoid these lots at all cost, they are a trap.

The company has retracted their fee from my record, and this complaint is resolved.  Ive also spoken with the city to start further regulation of this companys actions to help prevent this situation from happening to other individuals.

I will also note that the company only informed me of the waived fee through this complaint on BBB, and not through any other form of direct contact.

I paid to park to have lunch. The only option I had was to pay until midnight even though it was around noon. I paid $7, had lunch, visited a neighboring business for a few minutes, and then I left. Then I received a ticket in the mail for not paying. I took a screenshot of my receipt emailed to me when I paid and my bank transaction of the same amount. The website would not allow my picture format. There is no phone number or address to reach these people. Once I searched ****** for a phone number, I saw many people posting that this is a predatory business and they will ticket you unnecessarily. I found a phone number and I left a voicemail. My only option at this point is to wait for someone to call me back, which I feel will not happen. I already overpaid them to park. I am definitely not paying a ticket when I have a receipt for paying to park. This is typical in the Portland area and should be illegal.

    Good day,

If an error occurred we would like to fix it. We would also appreciate you following the appeal process in place so that any errors can be resolved. Unfortunately, on the BBB platform we do not have the pertinent information from any complainant to lookup a violation. Please follow appeal instructions found on your notice to resolve any error.

What the h*** is this parking lot. I never seen a sign that pay to park. Do you leave it inside your office? I hope your company will get the karma for this. Do you ask yourself why all the reviews are bad, because you're a predator, stealing money from random people.

Recently, I was on my way home from work. I needed to find a restroom urgently. I couldn't find street parking, so I pulled into the parking lot managed by this company. I parked, ran to one of the nearby businesses, used the restroom and returned to my car. Roughly 10 minutes of their precious parking time.I received a notice indicating that I need to pay $10 for the parking, plus an additional $50 in fees. I wrote an appeal explaining the situation which was denied citing that I should have pre-paid and my appeal would be denied. What they are doing seems predatory in cases such as my own. (and many others I've read on here)

On July 30th I received notification of a parking violation. I attempted to appeal this violation as I was delivering for Doordash and there was no on street parking available. The parking lot was empty and I was there for less than 10 minutes. They denied my appeal on August 21st. For the last several days I have been attempting to go online to pay this fine and the website did not work. I have left a message regarding this issue. This morning I tried logging in with my phone and was able to get through with that browser and guess what ... they doubled my fine! How do I get this resolved when a company won't even return your call! I am tempted to let them go to collections and countersue them!

    Business Response

This parking lot requires payment by all vehicles unless you are parking in one of the two stalls dedicated for 10 minute parking. Street parking and the public right of way are out of our control, but we do control and monitor our privately operated parking facility for compliance. If you choose to park here you must pay as posted. If you did not pay, you may receive a parking violation notice, as posted. We apologize for any inconvenience this experience may have caused you but there are no grounds in your appeal that would require the dismissal of your violation.

Skyy parking is incredibly predatory. $57 for parking in an empty lot for less than an hour is exorbitant. This is equivalent to my daily wage after taxes. The idea that some machine picked my car out of their cameras, wrote up a letter, and mailed it to me with no human involved makes me disgusted. That a day's worth of work is being taken from me because of unclear signage is unacceptable. If it were a reasonable amount I could accept this bill, but charging me eight times the parking fee is unreasonable.
