1 starPep Boys - US ************************************** Counter person had attempted to have me pay for a complete the $2,400.00 work order, up front for an a/c repair, before to the parts were even being ordered, and before the labor actually being started and completed for the actual repair. Had given them a $1,000.00 deposit and made an appointment for the actual work being done, for the following Tuesday, at 10am. When I had called Tuesday morning at 8:15 in order to confirm this appointment, was told that the work was given to this technician for the customer walk ins traffic for this morning, and the actual work could not be completed as promised.Apparently, giving this company and place of business a $1,000.00 deposit, did not matter, and thus they wanted to do the work at another point in time, which would be convenient for their schedule. These are not trustworthy people working on the counter and mechanics. Waiting area and bathroom are filthy dirty, have not been cleaned in ages.Review fromRenee W

1 starOn August 31, 2024, my husband and I called Pepboys in **********, Fl and spoke with ***, who we have been working with in the past. We told him that the problem we had brought our car for twice already is doing the same thing. He told us to bring it and he would have someone take a look at. My husband and son, took the car and was called back a hour later. He told them about a separate issue, that was not related to coolant leakage. The Jamaican mechanic, that was on duty found a different problem. However, the problem was not related to the issue that we were trying to resolve at the time. The Jamaican mechanic became so, irate and disrespectful even, *** had to walk away. He would not let us get a word in and he became very combatted. He even, told our son, you not paying for it, so I am not talking to you. He was very nasty man, that just wanted to be right and will not be quite. He was talking all over management, he had know respect for his bosses. Since we had been back and forth about the same issue and paying each time for something different. We felt like it was a switch and bait and they were not operating with integrity. They did not do a pressure test, this is why they could not pin point the area that needed fix and they was just making suggestions and hoping it would get fix, but did not. I dont understand if they are mechanics and they have the tools to do the job, why is it they want to rip off loyal customers and be disrespectful about. I dont understand how a person can be employed by your company and is allowed to continue with the bad behavior. His bosses has to walk away from their own employees that mean they do not have any control over the workers.Review fromJosephine S

1 starI had a flat tire few days ago and I took my vehicle to Pep Boys at ***************** in *****, **. After spending almost 2 hours with the vehicle, they told me that the flat was not fixable and recommended me to change the tires. I have heard about Pep Boys for their "price gouging" practices but got to experience it first hand. I took my vehicle to Discount Tires who fixed the flat for free for "0" dollars. Never going back to Pep Boys. Discount Tires - You earned a new customer.Review fromVincent S

1 starAugust 18 at 1:50pm and I asked *******, the manager, what is the cost for removing and replacing the lower control arms. She shared that my vehicle's axle needs to be replaced along with both lower control arms with a total cost of $3785.22. I asked, "Why is it so expensive?" She shared that it takes 14 hours to perform the service (as she pointed out that 14.2 hours at $140 per hour equals $1988). *****, the service technician, then appeared stating that it is the way that they make the ***** vehicles and that he had to take multiple steps to remove and replace the parts. I asked for a printed work order, reviewed it, then told her to proceed with performing the service. I left Pep Boys at 2:******* 4:27pm, ******* called me stating that my vehicle is ready for pickup. I asked her how that was possible when she told me two hours ago that the work would take 14.2 hours. She said that her technician knew how to perform the work quicker. I stated that I am glad that I will be paying only for two hours of labor versus 14.2 hours. She replied that Pep Boys closes at 6pm and ended the call. At 4:51pm, I received a text from Pep Boys stating that my vehicle is ready for pickup.I asked ******* when I arrived at 5:45pm, "What is the adjusted price for services since it only took two hours to perform the service?" She said that she cannot adjust the price since it was based on the technician's estimate based upon the hours listed in her computer. I asked to speak to the technician who was gone for the day. I stated that it is not right for me to pay for an additional 12 hours of labor when it took only two hours to perform the service. She stated that I can contact Pep Boys Corporate. I had to pay $3785.22 in order to get my ********** vehicle is not riding correctly, and I have to take it to another mechanic. I contacted Corporate who shared that the manager was right and added that the best they can do it offer a 10% refund.Review fromRobert S

1 starThey left a price of their tire changing machine in my tire. Big chunk. Caused me to fill tire repeatedly, then it started to clank around after it broke free from bead. Cost me 50$ to get out. Ridiculous. And they won't answer phone when I call. ***********Review fromKen T

1 starEvery single time I use pep boys on 46 in ******* there's an issue. For to replace air filter once. Never patched my tire once. I make an appointment and they are never on time. Usually 20 minutes or so behind. Today 8/18/2024. The skinny geeky guy at the counter said with a smug grin and tone." We are about 5-6 hours behind" Basically laughing at me. I asked him to cancel my appointment then he got really smug and smart with me.That's why they get peanut pay. His tone changed when I rounded the counter and was face to face.Keep in mind I know sometimes they are short handed. I ALWAYS leave the tech a nice tip. $30-$50 depending on what service I'm doing. Don't laugh and be smug with me. I fight back.Review fromHeather M

1 starI went to pep boys on ****** Hwy at *******, ** with my 2018 ***** civic due to a check engine light. I had a ***** of mine run a diagnostic beforehand to check the issue since I know they charge for that and it was a gas leak issue. I go there and explain to them my issue and that I need them to check my gas line and they said theyll use the dye to check my car (assuming the dye for the gas leak check since thats whats used and what I asked about) to see if they can spot any leaks. They are aware that I already have done a diagnostic check. Then when I come back, they said that they did diagnostic check and it didnt show anything since its already been done and tried to charge me for it. I told him that they did the complete opposite of what I asked for since I already got a diagnostic check and they even said they would use the dye To see of any leaks. Then they said that they meant Diag which is their lingo for diagnostic and demanded that I still have to pay for something I Already specified Ive had done myself. Im sorry, but that is not OK. I do not use the lingo that mechanics use and I almost feel like they use that against me to charge me for something I did not ask for. This was handled very unprofessionally. I will not be going back there and will go to a proper mechanic that will be more honest with me when it comes to taking care of my car and not use lingo To confuse the situation.Review fromCandice H

1 star***** loves to advise customers to leave a review and be sure we mention his name, I think it's fair to also review the negative impact of his combative attitude. After 3 years of making this location my go-to, dealing with ***** has been nothing attitude and combativeness. If a customer ask the question why am I paying for something that has warranty? There's no other answer besides the right answer to make it make sense. Today, ***** was combative by questions from me due to me not understanding WHY AM I PAYING FOR TIRES AGAIN? (mind you 4 BRAND NEW tires were purchased last year or the year before with a warranty) I also asked how much is the tires (2) he prints the history of what he "looked out for me" on. Still didn't get how much is the tires. instead, he gets up from behind the desk and states "Let me hurry up and get you outta here because if you think I'll sabotage a business over a tire is crazy. after today we are good. I do you a favor" First off, DO ME A FAVOR..DON'T DO ME NO FAVOR. EVER! I never have/had a problem paying for a need but I do have a problem of a combative sales rep and a mouthy man. He proceeds to the back and make his way back after I continue to speak to my boyfriend on the phone about not ever meeting a combative man. He cut the corner "*************** what was that?" I repeated EXACTLY what I said. The combativeness of a sales rep while a customer needs to know why am I paying for something that has a warranty and STILL no answer came out of it is DIABOLICAL. He stated you can speak with the manager tomorrow, (Monday). *****, You poked the bear you woke the bear today.Let me add this location stripped my stud and put a random lug nut on my tire. It's not the mechanics in the shop that get this review. ***** also wanted to keep going off at the mouth to another customer about MY car situation. In the future don't ever come from the back asking a customer what they say. You wanted an issue when they were on the phone with their spouse.
