1 starI took my Mini ****** ********** to Pep Boys on ********. on a Sunday as my dealer was closed. The mechanic, ******, told me my battery was bad, replaced it, and then wanted $2000 to replace the alternator as the car would still not run. I had the car towed to my dealer the next day instead. They spent the whole day doing diagnostics and said the new battery from Pep Boys was DEFECTIVE, and my alternator was fine. I later learned from the mechanic that it was the FIFTH bad battery from Pep Boys' inventory.I attempted to get a refund from *************************, the manager at Pep Boys, and she said they'd only refund the battery. When I arrived (having to make multiple trips and drive to a second store), she said she'd only "replaced" the battery. She was unprofessional and childish. She welcomed the bad review and called me names. It was a runaround and costly endeavor. Why didn't the mechanic check the battery after replacing it if he knew they had a batch of bad ones, causing me to have to pay for towing nearly $500 at the dealer? 1 starPep Boys damaged my vehicle when working on it 07/17/***4 and have not repaired vehicle after 2 weeks. Corporate office said area manager will take care of matter and when he would not return calls they said regional director will call but never has. Part cost approx. $130.00 retail and they can install part which is simply bolted on vehicle. He damaged the vehicle while I was watching them work on it in parking lot. I told them they should not work on it like they were. I tried to tell them how to work spare tire lift and I had a video pulled up on phone and asked manager to look at the video so he would know how to put spare tire back on vehicle without damage but he refused to look at video and then damaged vehicle spare tire lift and storage mechanism. His worker asked him more than once if he could get another worker to show them how to operate spare tire lift but he declined. I had earlier removed spare with the lift when I changed the tire and went to Pep Boys to repair tire since that is where I purchased the tires and it was also close to where I had the flat tire. Thus the spare tire lift worked fine right before I went to Pep Boys store # ***, ***************************************************. Manager apologized and wrote on receipt that he would replace part for me and signed that hand written comment on my printed work order *******. He said he will call auto supply store and purchase part and install on my vehicle to make it right two weeks later and get back to me that day 07/31/***4. Then he does not do it. He said he has been to busy when I call and ask him what the status is on getting my truck repaired so I may properly store my spare and have full use of my truck bed. I have called local auto parts stores and reported to manager the cost of the part and that the part is available locally. He said he cannot find the part. The part is available at local ******** auto parts stores, Auto Zone parts stores, and Bumper to Bumper Part stores.Review fromLing B

1 starTheir engine oil service is not the best but okay, usually. I had engine oil change here 6 months ago. They recommended to replace an axe and belt after inspection and said will be done before 5pm. All service cost around $2100. Okay I came over the store at 4:30pm the day and waited till about 7:30 pm, finally all done. When I left the store, it was a little dark and I did not pay too much attention to check my car. The next day, I found a lot leak oil on my garage ground under the car and a lot of dirt black oily stains / prints (my car is white) on the door, hood cover and inside, terrible. So I drove to Pep Boys and asked them to check the leakage. They asked me waiting for 2.5 hours and finally a mechanic came out and took less than 5 minutes to check it, then told me the oil leakage probably caused by engine gasket, and gave me a quote of about $800 to repair. My car did not have any oil leakage problem before this service! I did not believe them. So I drove to another store nearby and after their inspection, they found a axe part was miss (not installed) and this caused the oil leakage. I called Pep Boys and told them the reason and they asked me to drive back their store to check again. No way! No more! After that, I tried to talk with their manager face to face in their store, every time they said he is not available, even I made a schedule. At the fourth time I finally meet him, he kept saying it was not their faults for the oil leakage , even I showed him the photo of their installed axe missing a part. It cost me $2100 (from Pep Boys) plus $400 (other store to fix the leak and install the miss part), and over totally 20 hours to solve it, which obviously caused by Pep Boys' mis-installation. Yes the manager promised to offer me a $400 service credit in their store in the future. But I will never go to this Pep Boys again, the offer mean nothing to me. Terrible experience. Terrible service from *** Boys here. I may give zero to them if I can.Review fromWayne D

1 starPep Boys at ********************************************************************************************, took my daughters car to replace the alternator, had the car for two days because they couldnt figure out how to start it with the kill switch, finally called to ask how to start the car, then replaced the alternator and returned the car with the taillights and dash light not working. When asked to look at the vehicle and fix the lights they refused to and said we have to take it to the dealer. Keep in mind when we dropped the car off all lights were on and working perfect, worse service I ever had, not honest and taking accountability for there mistake.Review fromAngela A

1 star11 minutes ago If I was able to leave a negative score I absolutely would on July 28th I brought my SUV in even made an appointment I have my tire looked at plugged if possible it had a bolt in it I patiently waited in line spoke to ****** behind the desk and when I presented my VA as in veteran affairs ID card for a military veteran 5% discount *************** responded very sarcastically and with extreme degradation with a derogatory response asking me to show my military ID when I proceeded to show him pep boys website where it said military veterans he proceeded to question whether or not I was even allowed to have a discount because I don't have a military ID and continued with the derogatory comment as if insinuate that I was not a veteran I am a female combat service connected veteran disabled at that and the way I was treated at the Waterbury pep boys was beyond reproach!!! The tire wound up not even being serviced which is fine but the way I was treated as a veteran from a business that supposedly appreciates their veteran community is absolutely disgusting I am absolutely looking forward to speak into corporate and possibly an attorney.Review fromHaley R

1 starThey held my car hostage telling me I could not take it to ******** Told me they were already fixing it and what the price would be without asking if I would like that done. ****** got an attitude with me and my warranty company after fixing his crooked mistakes of over charging me. He still charged me $194 of tax on my oil change and deductible. I believe they charged me for things they were not supposed to but since I am a girl that they think I will not do anything about it.Review fromMohamad Z

1 starThis location lied to me on the phone and in person regarding vehicle inspections on 2 of my vehicles. I asked specifically if they could provide a stamp including their address and a certified mechanics id on a vehicle inspection form and they stated they could. Also the give a price of $119. I dropped both vehicles on Friday July 12th and they were to be ready the following day. We checked everyday up until Tuesday July 16th when they said we ready. They then stated when being picked up they dont have a stamp or mechanic ID and they charged $195 per vehicle for what was not accurately provided. This is bad business practice to say the least. It would be no stars if I could submit without any selected. ***************************Review fromDanny B

1 starMy vehicle was vandalized at Pep Boys. The seats were covered in f**** and c*** when I got my vehicle back from them when they had my vehicle in their care. I had my vehicle taken to Pep Boys because some repairs needed to done to my vehicle. They needed to inspect the vehicle and send photos to the company that covers my warranty to approve repairs. They inspected but didnt take the photos. I had to bring it back four days later. The vehicle sat all day and the photos werent taken. I was informed that they would take the photos the following day. It took them three days to take photos. They informed me that the photos were sent and I could pick up the vehicle after it sat there for the third day. When they gave my vehicle back to me the back seat had feces/crap smeared all across the back seat of my vehicle. I immediately told the employee who informed me my vehicle was ready. He asked me to show him and informed me they would clean it up. He was on the phone and said the store manager said they cant clean it up and that they are not liable for the damage that was done to the vehicle while it was in their care. One of their employees didnt lock my vehicle which led to this. Their negligence had me pay over $300 out of pocket to have my vehicle detailed because they are not legally liable done for the damage done to my vehicle. I cant recommend taking your vehicle to Pep Boys. They didnt take care of me or my vehicle. As a result of their negligence, I had to pay for the damages simply because they didnt lock the doors. You will have to pay for any damages done to your vehicle if they inform you it has to stay at their location. Pep Boys is ethically bankrupt on both a business and moral level. They do not respect you and take no responsibility for their mistakes. It was pure h*** having my insurance and the police department dealing with this issue. I do not wish this experience upon anyone.
