I have posted a review for this business before but I backed off because the area manager said he would make it right. I haven’t heard from him since. This pep boys, for some reason, is not to be trusted. They will tell you falsehoods to get you to spend more money and afterwards, just act as if they’ve done nothing wrong. I’m disgusted by the thought of any single moms or daughters, or wives that are forced to trust what these people say. This company is truly disgraceful

      To whom it may concern,

My name is Jada Macon and I currently have my vehicle (2021 Kia Forte) at your shop located on 4837 North Tryon in Charlotte Nc. My car has been at this shop since 11/22/2023. I was told that the entire engine in my car needed to be replaced. My car is covered under warranty with SilverRock. Someone at the pep boys facility called and started the process to make sure everything was covered however they provided the wrong date to Silver Rock on when the car was initially dropped off. Whoever started the claim told silver rock that my car was dropped off on 11/27/2023 which is incorrect. My car was actually dropped off on 11/22/2023. I was provided a link to be able to check the status of the vehicle however there have been no updates on the link provided. Due to SilverRock receiving incorrect information when the car was dropped off I was unable to get the refund I was suppose to receive from SilverRock. I have been given Four different round about dates that my car may be available for pick up, first I was told the end of November, then I was told Mid December then I was told end of December beginning of January and as of today 12/26/2023 I am being told Mid January around the 15th to be exact. It’s very frustrating that this matter was not taken care of when I was told the first time. There have been many delays and errors made my this facility. I have paid nearly a grand in Lyft and rentals this has been detrimental to children’s Christmas. I need to have my car back ASAP as I need to able to get my son back to Philadelphia. I’ve also missed work due this issue. I’m basically being told that I have to forgo $490 due to the delays that this facility is having I do not think is right being as though when I’m told that the car is ready the facility is going to want to be paid. I really feel as though this needs to be addressed I have reach out numerous times and no one has bothered to call me back this is very unprofessional.

On November 30, 2023, I took my vehicle to your location at 5380 Covington Hwy Decatur GA 30035 to have an oil change, a signal light changed and tires rotated. I was advised by the mechanic that I needed some additional work, rear main seal and some cooling work and I authorized that work to be done. I was promised my vehicle back on December 1, 2023; however, that was delayed due to employee out sick and other family issues. As a result, I was out of a car for seven days. I had to acquire a rental car for more than a week.

On Wednesday December 6th, I was advised that my vehicle have been repaired and advised to come and get it. Shortly after driving my vehicle, I noticed that my vehicle was not changing gears. I immediately turned around and returned the vehicle. I got a rental car on December 6th. I was later advised that my transmission had to be replaced. The manager advised that the transmission work was required due to some mechanical issues on the part of Pep Boys.

Once I was advised that the car was ready to be picked up again on December 16th, I went to get the car, drove it 30 miles and it started to overheat shortly thereafter. It had to be towed back to the same Pep Boys location. Later that day, I was told again that the car was fixed and it was ready for pick up again. I picked it up on December 18th, after a couple of days of driving my vehicle, it started to overheat again on December 22nd. I took the car back to the Pep Boys and sit there for 3 hours while they tried to fix it again. On December 24, the car started to overheat again, this time I took it to a local Dodge dealership for a second opinion. Today I have been advised by Vaneta at Courtesy Dodge in Stonecrest GA, that my engine needs to be replaced as a result of the overheating.

I took my vehicle to the ***** ********** **** location in Whittier, CA about a week ago to try and get an oil change. A worker (Jay) tells me they can’t do the service because my oil pan bolt is stripped because the car is old. He also tried to say it was stripped by whoever worked on it before. He quotes me to replace the bolt and pan. After leaving the shop, my car begins to leak oil in my driveway (never had oil leaking before that visit). I filed a corporate complaint and no one from this location contacted me within the 24-48 hour Pep Boys protocol. Corporate then escalated my case as a lack of communication report. No one responded that same day per the Pep Boys protocol. I call corporate again who confirmed that, still, no one is responding to the complaint. I call the shop location afterwards and a manager (Richard) answers the phone. He tells me he wasn’t able to speak with the mechanic for days. That was never communicated to corporate nor myself the entire time I waited for a response under the company policy. He further tells me that my “stripped bolt” was hard to remove. He also tried to tell me my car was already leaking oil which, again, my car has never leaked oil. He did tell me they went above and beyond to cover their end which is exactly what it seems like because this doesn’t sound like customer service at all.

If i could give no stars i would...So i bought my car in 2020, i took my vehicle to pep boys for a wheel alignment which i paid around $150.00 which included a 3 yr warranty. I went in 2022 (which i have a video of me and my kids sitting in their lobby while the work was being done) to use my warranty which they did the job and said my wheel alignment was on and not that much of track...So i went back this year "2023" i believe back in April of June to get my another wheel alignment but now they saying they don't have any record of me ever getting any work done at all...So now I'm really upset and frustrated with this company...I talked to the manager multiple times and even called corporate...I spoke to a few people, but i spoke to a lady rep and she told me "pep boys has recently some an update to their system and lost some customers info"...I don't have that email or phone number i used back in 2020 when i got the original wheel alignment...So because i don't have that info they keep saying they don't see me getting any work done...There's so much to this story, i just really wanted what i paid for and nothing more...This company is horribly unprofessional when it comes to doing business with warranties...

I went to Pep Boys 6667 for winter tire installation. They not only changed the price (I chose this store on Tire Rack only because they said they would only charge $90, but in fact they charged $130) but also kept my summer tires without my permission. When I realized that they did not give me my tires back and called them (it was not even 30 minutes after I left from the store), they told me that a trash person already came to pick up one of the four tires because it was damaged. I did not give them authorization to throw away any of those tires, and it was ridiculous that they assumed that I would not want my old tires back. Do their customers get new summer tires annually??? They took my private property without my authorization and I could not get my tires back!

The worst experience I've ever had. They "fixed" my check engine light three different times. Each time was more expensive then the last, but each time they assured me this would be the solution to fixing it. Eventually they must have run out of things to scam me on because they told me to take it to my dealer directly. As soon as the dealership ran the codes they told me that a certain part was installed incorrectly. I informed the dealership that Pep Boys had changed that part and they said Pep Boys must have changed it incorrectly. The dealership fixed up my car easier and cheaper then Pep Boys. I then spent the next month fighting my Pep Boys location for a refund for parts/labor back on the part they installed incorrectly. The workers and manager lied directly to my face, claiming it had be sent to corporate. I finally contacted corporate myself and they informed me that no paperwork or refund process was started. I was able to start the case on my own. I called back the location to inform them that I started the process and the manager proceeded to yell and get nasty with me over the phone. I was eventually contacted by a district manager who assured me that it must be a miscommunication because the manager "is a real honest guy". When I sent proof of paperwork from my dealership stating Pep Boys was wrong to the district manager, she took a week and a half to review it. I had to constantly call and text her for updates on my case. Eventually she finally approved a partial refund. When I went back to the location to get the refund, I was met by dirty looks from every worker. The assistant manager tried to give me a wrong amount on the refund. I had to manually do the math in front of him to show him how much I should be getting back. I tried to get more money for the absurd charges they throw in there, but they wouldn't budge. After an hour at location, I was finally able to get a small refund back for all my troubles. Will never be going back to any Pep Boys.

      Pep Boys store *** ** *** ***** ** should receive NO STARS!
I had to go to this location a total of 10 TIMES!!!!! One time I got there at 8:45am and didn't leave until 6pm. AND MY CAR STILL WAS NOT FIXED because the part wasn't working properly and they told me at 4pm they had to order the part!!!!! 4PM!!!! I'VE BEEN SITTING THERE SINCE 8:45! But they still had me waiting trying other options and still didn't work which is why I left at 6pm pissed off!
They then tell me to go to Ford for the issue and fix it myself since they could not do it at the store. I lost pay and had to pay for other situations just to take care of my car which Pep Boys could not fix because of the 10 times and going to Ford myself.
Completely unacceptable and i should be refunded the entire sale due to all these issues on top of my losing pay for the inconvenience!
BTW i had to go back to the store 3 times just to get my refund back for the cost of going to Ford to get the tire part fixed myself!!!! It was challenging to even get a refund OF THE MONEY I PUT OUT TO FIX MY CAR!!!!!!!
I call corporate. They gave me a case number. To this day and minute no one has called me back to follow up or even apologize for the inconvenience!!!
Shows the integrity of the corporation and how they do business which is unacceptable!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND PEP BOYS FOR ANY TYPE OF BUSINESS!

I went to Pep Boys at 1739 East Joppa Road in Baltimore, MD for a tire change. Later after I left, I received a text message saying they were doing a comprehensive car inspection for which I gave no permission. After I picked up the car, all of my electronics were reset, my shifter was vibrating, the engine was idling really low and within one mile, the engine would cut off whenever I came to a stop.

I called my personal mechanic and he said they at some point Pep Boys either drained the battery or disconnected it causing the car's computer to forget idle settings. He gave me instructions to reset it.

My car had never broken down in 176k miles before I went to Pep Boys. Now I have to wonder what other lurking problems were caused by them for work I gave them absolutely no permission to do whatsoever.

One employee said they "have to do the inspection on every car." I told him they should have told me that upfront because then I could make my own decision to go somewhere else for tires.

      Don't go to Pep Boys!!

Pep Boys misrepresented their sale prices and added more charges on the back end. I purchased three tires with one free with free installation. They charged me an additional 296.00 for installation. Then they added another charge of other no one can tell me what the charge was for. I contacted the company on several occasions and no one has gotten back with me as of yet
