      I had an emergency tire repair needed the day after Thanksgiving. I had to leave the state that day and my choices were limited. I called Pep Boys in Monroeville with my tire info and they didn't have them, but the Shadyside location was showing TWO. I called and verified this and headed over with the tire. They were short-staffed so I cut them some slack, but from the start we had to get their attention just to be waited on and then everything went downhill from there.

      They did a search of the inventory and only found one of the tires. Okay, that's fine. I'll take it. I signed up for text updates and was told to be back around 20 or 30 minutes. We came back after a short walk, and nobody updated us on anything so we took a seat in the pitiful waiting area with others that had been there long before we arrived. The place is being remodeled and there were no accessibly restrooms so I eventually had to walk to a gas station down the road. I was pacing around the desk and was FINALLY informed that it was being worked on, but they Cooper tire that had been verified by two phone calls and an initial look at the store was not actually in stock, so they substituted a Mastercraft and it should be ready soon. The computer system had gone down and I was told that they'd just take the credit card info and run it later, but they did not. They did nothing until it came back online 2.5 hours after I'd arrived (for ONE tire to be put on a rim-it wasn't even being mounted on the car!!!). He said that he was giving me a discount, but the price charged was around what I'd been quoted on the phone for the Cooper, so I don't buy that I had a big discount for a cheaper tire.

      I only went here out of desperation, and that's the only time that I suggest that you do as well. Abysmal "customer service" and an interminable wait, only to have them put on something other than what we'd agreed.

      Mechanic drained transmission fluid during an oil change and double filled my engine oil. Ended up flooding my engine with oil, 3 professionals have quoted me 60k worth of damage. Pep boys will not take responsibility and I have been dealing with the issue for a year now with no vehicle because they will not pay for a rental or restore my vehicle to its original condition.
      Customer service was entirely unhelpful, which resulted in me hiring a lawyer to move things along. The shop even gave me a written summary of the work they did and acknowledged it was incorrect.
      Would give ZERO stars if I could. Do not go here as they cannot perform basic services. They have made my Audi S6 useless at this point!

      On 11/12 I took my car to Pep Boys to have my brakes checked because during my PA state inspection in June at this location I was told the car's brakes passed inspection but would need brakes in a few months. After they checked my brakes I was told that I needed $1200 worth of brake repairs. They said my brake linings in the front were at 3/32 and at 4/32 in the rear. Furthermore, I had warped rotors and a frozen caliber. When I questioned the extent of the repairs the service manager Keith was adamant that I had serious brake issues.

      I refused all repairs and took the car on the same day to an independent automotive center nearby who has been in business for 35 years. After his inspection I was told that I needed NO brake repairs. The front brake linings are at 9/32 and the rear brake linings at 8/32. No warped rotor or frozen caliber. I sent a copy of the invoice to Pep Boys showing these specs showing the brake lining near new.
      I have called the 800-customer service number 3 times and spoken to an agent who has promised me a call back from upper management, but it has never happened. I sent an email to the headquarters detailing my complaint but no response. I still would like an explanation concerning my experience.

      Pep Boys in Homewood Al 35209 have terrible customer service. I brought my car for a check engine sign, and they charged me for diagnosis $110.98 and for the job $945.47. My assumption was that if you do the maintenance job with the same company that makes the diagnosis, the diagnostic fee is wavered. At least it was my experience in the past. No such luck with Pep Boys this time. And all the way they were extremely unhelpful and rude. I understand that they do not care what customers think about them, but I will never go there back again.

      Their website lets you book appointments after hours and they are aware of the issue. When I arrived for my appointment I was told, sorry the website has been broken for years and no one can fix it. The employee wouldn't stop texting and when we asked for help with a resolution we were told "it's not my f**king problem". Then a manager called and said hey sorry bring it in this day. We arrived for our new appointment just to be told oh we don't have the tires you wanted. Even though we reserved them at my original appointment request. due to time I had to settle for cheaper tires just so I could get the work done.

      Went to have a steering diagnostic due to a small sound coming from my suspension. They gave me an estimate for over $3,000. Had my car looked at by 2 other people who verified that all but 1 of the things listed were not needed. I looked up the part numbers on the estimate and they wanted to charge me between 2-4x the cost of parts. Some of the part numbers didn't even exist! Drove away from their establishment with no questions actually answered and a new sound coming from my front end. Would not suggest going to them for reliable business.

      Very poor service quote prices for services and warranty then don't do the correct work and won't honor warranty. Never go to Pep Boys!!! You will be sorry!!!

      I went to Pep Boys on Park Ave. to have them check out my tire. It took them two hours to get to my car. Once they got to my car, they opened up the hood of my car and proceeded to test my battery. I asked them why they were testing my battery when I brought the car in for them to check my tire. The girl at the service desk said, that it was their policy to test the car battery because if they did not people would complain about them not testing the battery if it went bad. They finally looked at my tire and gave me their prognosis. They said, that I needed a new tire and that my battery was bad too. My tire was about six month old and my car was check by the dealer two weeks prior to this event and the dealer did not inform me that my battery was bad. It so happen that prior to them checking my tire I over hard them tell a lady that her battery was bad too. I told them that I would just take the car to Walmart and have them look at the tire there. I took the car to Walmart and had them check my tire, They did not find any issue with my tire. They said the tire was good. It is obvious to me that Pep Boy's was just scamming me. What they were doing in this store I think is illegal.

      I was told on 11/10/23 that I needed front and rear struts along with a sway bar link, over $2,000 in cost. David said it would have to be special ordered and paid upfront. I declined and later took my Camaro to Chevrolet since they had the parts. After doing a diagnostic check of what I was told at Pep Boys, they found no issues of anything wrong with my Camaro. Pep Boys at 9816 US HWY 441 in Leesburg, FL cost me $172.00 for the lie they told me and after 4 years of relationship it has now been dissolved of any trust I and my deceased husband had with them.

      They got the job done, but regretted To tell me that I was being charged extra for a tire rotation as well. I asked for an oil change only. my partner looked over the invoice for me and told me it was an entire separate charge that was not included in the oil change service. I’m guessing they did this so that way they would get the labor charge since I’m assuming changing the oil only takes about 10 mins but I was there for almost 2 hours.. I don’t like being deceived on services rendered, especially as a woman going into these types of businesses. I would’ve been more than okay to pay for a rotation if i needed it. Omitting that I was getting charged extra is the issue. I’ll be going to my local mechanic from now on.
