1 starI have been coming to Pep Boys in Collegeville for a few years now, and in the past year I've been having significant issues with the location. My catalytic converter on my 2016 Chevy Trax was replaced and not long after my check engine light came back on. The system check said there was an issue with the catalytic converter again. It was checked and there was not, They cleared the light, and told me if it kept coming back on, they would replace the converter under warranty. The light came back on. I brought the car back. They told me they had to run the code again. The same thing happened. They told me they'd check with the dealership and get back to me about replacing the converter. They did not. I called, I came in, I've had oil changes and tires replaced and each time, I ask about the code and the converter and each time I'm told that one of the guys is "working on it". Now I'm at a point where the warranty is up and they still haven't fixed the issue, despite my having several appointments dedicated to just that.
As I write this, I'm sitting in the store waiting for the 4 tires I had put on 2 weeks ago to be checked because they started losing air as soon as I drove them away. They tried to tell me that I must have run over something, so I had the tires checked at CJ Tires just to make sure, and was told to go back to Pep Boys and demand my money back or to have the tires replaced because the two left tires are leaking air, not form any damage I have done to them. I called to make an appointment and I was told they'd call me back. They didn't. I stopped in to make an appointment and was given one, but when I got here for my appointment I was told that it was going to be an extremely long wait. either they're overbooking the cars or they're not hiring enough people, but I have never waited fewer than 2 hours here, even for an oil change.Review fromDebbie H.

1 starI bought my 4 ( four ) tires from the location in Tyler, TX. Was encourage to purchase the road hazard insurance too. I have had an issue with the rear passenger tire losing air. Went to the store for service was told the insurance was no good! And YES I would be paying again for my tire to be service / repaired. That it was at least 1 1/2 hour wait and was ask did I have an appointment. None of this was done with empathy! Yes I am a single female with very little understanding of automobiles and especially tires. A little bit of kindness would have gone a long way. He was rude and very insensitive to say the least. Your company will NEVER get any more of my service and I will tell everyone I know about how I was treated! I was so upset that I left your store! I went to a locally owned business was greeted by 2 employees with smiles and greetings as I opened the door. My tire was fixed within 15 minutes at NO charge and yes I was treated with RESPECT. Shame on your company and employees for your HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! We are not going to take it any more! I hope this helps someone else not make the same mistake I did!Review fromAmbrion B

1 starTo whom this May Concern,
I visited the ocoee fl location today, I'd purchased a battery from you all only a year ago and was still within my warranty. I was told by 2 different entities that my battery was bad. I went to have it tested at your shop. They told me the battery was good but also that it was going out slowly. So I asked that out of courtesy could they go ahead and change it for me for peace of mind and safety. The guy at the front as well as the mechanic both became upset with me immediately. They went out back and the front guy came back and basically told me that they'll do it but when something happens to me later today I can't bring it back. I immediately felt like that was a threat against my life. I was also made to wait almost 3 hours for a simple battery replacement. I arrive at the building at 8:30 and didn't leave until 11:30. I have never been so afraid for my life then I was today. Honestly if this job was done properly my Attorney will be In contact.Review fromJames K

1 starTerrible, went to have a battery replaced. Ended up costing me over $400 in other charges because they had left a wire off the battery. Only found that out after five days in a tow to Sunset Auto in Sarasota where it took them less than two minutes to see that they had not attached a battery cable. Paul the general manager claimed it was a starter problem and ordered me a starter that was on backorder that would’ve taken days weeks if not months to be delivered. I was already in the process of renting a car for those five days that they did nothing, and it cost me $100 to have it towed before Sunset Auto in Sarasota found that they had not attached the cable and within minutes the car was up and running and the problem is solved. I then took the car over to Pep Boys on Washington Street in Sarasota and explained to Paul and showed him the pictures of the unattached cable. Not only was he not apologetic and had no interest Accepting responsibility for not attaching the cable, he went as far as started to blame others from O’Reilly’s auto parts which is where he had me by the battery which was down the street to Sunset Auto but they had disconnected the cable for the photo. I didn’t ask him if he would repay me for my expenses due to their error, he just laughed and said no. But I asked him for the name of his district manager he told me that he does not give that out.Review fromOsman L

1 starIf you are looking to get quality service, don’t go here. I purchased tires a year ago. I recently had a slow leak in my back passenger tire. I dropped my car off it to get fixed and received a call stating that I needed a new tire. I reminded the caller that I tires should still be on warranty. He quickly said “Oh. We quantify replace it for free. I went to pick ip my car and I was charged $60. No problem. I left the parking lot and the low tire pressure light came back on. I called and the worker said to just reset. After doing this 3 times in a week. I decided to get an oil change and inspection a week later. I once again let them know of the low pressure light on. I then get a call an hour later stating that my car did not pass inspection due to a tire rod. I once again reminded them that I had gotten that same part replaced a year ago. He quickly said we will replace for free. But it still wouldn’t pass due to need sway bars on the rear of my vehicle. I told them to replace the part and not to do anything else to my car. I get a text 25 minutes later stating that my car was done. Now, when I got the tire rod fixed that charged me for 1.5 hours of work. But today it only took 20 minutes. Then when I asked about this the worker says that sometimes parts are faulty. I then Asked about the tire pressure. He said there was a hole in the tire they just replaced. How?? This is crazy. The staff at this establishment is horrible. Then they gaslight you by acting smug. DO NOT TAKE YOU CAR HERE. They will charge you for things and not fix them. After getting in my car I noticed they did not add the sticker for the oil change reminder. He says we don’t do that. Your car will let you know when it’s time. I am appalled and discussed. I decided to take it to a different mechanic and Pep Boys didn’t even give my car an oil change or change the part. Horrible service.Review fromTommy B.

1 starSunday morning 10/9/22 I'm visiting from Los Angeles CA. with my personal vehicle and noticed my front left tire has very low pressure 24. I drive down Garth Rd. Baytown Texas and notice Pep Boys is open and decided to buy two front tires, I drive in get out my vehicle and was immediately verbally attacked by the guy in the garage with dreadlocks about blocking the driveway when I was the only one there, I told him to wait a minute I am a retired military veteran captain and I need emergency service. He totally starts disrespecting me by saying he didn't care and starts more yelling and tried to walk up on me. I've call the corporate office because most definitely he doesn't appreciate his job and has very bad manners towards senior citizens and military personnel...DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! You get a zero star!!!! I'll buy new tires Monday morning 10/10/22 from the Chevy DealershipReview fromRobert B

1 starGo in for state inspection and emissions, their computer couldn't read mine,so accusations start,I bring car back and they claim again after some parts they can't do emissions, but charge me for state inspection and emissions, but deny me stickers, they claim that I didn't pay for the inspection until the receipt lands on their desk. I won't be called a liar ,now my inspection and emissions is out of date for 10 days past what Pennsylvania allows and still I'm getting the runaround and NO new stickers, they claim it's not their fault, but I've replaced the whole emissions system literally and still No stickers,I read the state inspection laws and they said they don't have to follow anything about the spending of monies to pass, and this is the third time I've been back, Pep Boys is a joke ,they've been a horrible experience for me for the last time.Review fromHarmon M

2 starsMade an appointment for an oil change, called before the appointment to confirm. Showed up for the appointment and they said it would be an hour wait... for an oil change. Also the web site promised a $25 gift certificate for an oil change but the store manager knew nothing about it and didn't offer to find out about it. How does a company stay in business with practices like this. Goodbye Pep Boys forever... maybe one day you'll be a manReview fromDaisy S

1 starIf you care about your money, card info, your privacy, and getting good quality parts installed don’t come here. As the hundreds of other reviews say, save your money. Genuinely the worst service I have EVER received and I pray that this god awful franchise shuts down because they are scammers and con artists. Nobody is ever at the front desk, I walked over to the computer and customers info was pulled up, if I was an awful person I could have easily written down customers credit card info, who knows if someone already has.
