tired of being double billed and having wages garnished for taxes I know I already paid. Also tired of the insane fees they charge my taxes total 290.00 but the bill is for 441.00 and they've done this for many years extorting over 1,000.00 in fees because they feel above the law and have no problem ripping off poor people.

I do not even live in Pennsylvania and have not for WELL OVER 2 YEARS yet they keep sending demand letters for Allentown Per Capita tax. I've already explained this to them. They even said they noted it and will close the account, yet today I get ANOTHER current bill sent to my home in NY. I know Allentown is money hungry but really????? STOP SENDING ME BILLS FOR PENNSYLVANIA!!!! Yes, I am fully aware that I will get the same copy & pasted response that everyone else gets. They represent themselves as being highly skilled for over 80 years, yet they cannot even see the grammatical errors in their response. Lol

Berkheimer is a local tax collection service for boroughs in Pennsylvania. I have a user ID and password for Berkheimer, confirmation I filed my taxes on 4/12/2023, an email receipt stating that I need to give them up to 75 days for them to send my refund. I have been emailing their customer service all last week and one of the agents provided a phone number today to follow up. I called the phone number and they said they have no record of my return, even with it in their portal when I log in. The agent said I have to file all over again. This would make the return late, I asked about that, but they said my account is noted. What does that mean? My concern is the lack of security in their portal system, the loss of my financial data including my SSN, and the agent actually asked me to give her my user ID and password to the portal so she can log in as me. Who does this? I had to provide full SSN in order to get any help at all, then I was told I could block out all but the last 4 of my SSN and email the tax return without encryption directly to Berkheimer. This violates so many rules for data security and protection. Why did I provide full SSN if only the last 4 will work to satisfy their tax return filing? What is being done to address this data privacy violation? How can I be assured I will not be considered "late"when I have proof I followed their rules and filed on time?

This company continues to harass me and try to stronghold me for double the amount of income tax that I have already paid. Always a run around when I send them information and they keep reopening cases that  I’ve closed just with a new account number. I’ve repeatedly asked for someone higher up with no response. No explanation on how they get their numbers and the amount due changes every single email. My wife, friends , and family all pay the same rate of local income tax and some even work multiple jobs in different counties. I don't understand how this is even legal.

Berkheimer sent me a registered letter saying that they were going to garnish my wages if I didnt pay them $61.00 for 2022 for residency tax. I paid on 9/30/22 in the amount of $9.80. Well they sent me a bill on 3/01/22 that I didnt pay because I forgot so then I received the bill on 08/01/22 that I did pay for $9.80 on 09/30/22. So why do I have to pay residency tax twice for 2022? It doesnt make any sense. They are vulchers and harass people who work and pay their taxes. And when I call they are so rude. Something needs to be done about this Berkheimer company! I am not paying them twice for residency tax for the same year. And they screwed up on 01/10/22 and sent me a check for $115. Saying it was overpayment refund. This isnt right and they should not get away with this constant harassment.

On April 11th, 2023, I received a “Certified Notice before Wage Garnishment” letter from Berkheimer tax sating that I had not paid my per capita tax in 2015. I reached out to Berkehimer multiple times to be sent proof of myself owing this tax. Berkehimer repeatedly told me that I am to reach out to the tax agency for proof. The tax agency was unable to also provide proof of this tax not being paid, and instead referred me back to Berkehimer. I was never provided a debt validation letter from this company. Since Berkheimer legally could not show me the proof of the debt, I offered multiple times to pay the original tax owed of 16.50, which was refused. I reached out to a partner to call Berkheimer for more information, as I had not been able to reach Berkheimer during my working hours. My partner called Berkheimer before I could give notice to Berkehimer that someone was calling with my personal information, and to allow them permission to discuss the issue. Berkheimer instead had a conversation with this partner, with the partner providing basic information about myself, and discussed my personal tax information. Berkheimer never notified me that someone had my information and just gave away all of it to what they had decided was a random caller. Per Berkheimers own words: “Any information which Berkheimer receives from you about your income, salary, wages, taxes because of a tax return you have filed with us, taxes you have paid to us, a request for refund you have sent to us, a petition for appeal filed by you, or hearing before a Tax Hearing Officer is CONFIDENTIAL. Berkheimer cannot share this information with any other person, except for representatives of the taxing district, or except as required by law.” Berkheimer then proceeded to tell this partner that they had sent out several letters before this time, but were unable to present this proof . The partner managed to get the bill reduced, and a paid the bill out of fear of repercussion.

In 2021 I filed my federal, state, and local taxes with ** ***** - our local tax collector is Berkheimer Associates. From September 2022 until April 2023, I have received 3 letters from them stating I still owned my Earned Income Tax (EIT). I also received a letter today about wage garnishment if I do not pay. Since September 2022 I have:- Emailed them my EIT and 2021 Tax Return 3 times to rectify (Sept 2022, Feb 2023, April 2023)- Called and spoke with a woman where we walked through my return and she said it was rectified in Feb 2023.The business is rarely ever open and getting someone on the phone took me at least a dozen calls of waiting and waiting. There are hardly any numbers to call and nobody gets back to emails. I have tried to email them through their website, but the site throws continuous errors about pages being down. I just want it to be resolved so that I can ensure my taxes, and money, are not just going missing.
