The worst people to deal with.If I did my job as well as they do there's, I would lose my job. We are constantly getting letters saying we have not paid our taxes. We tell them, YES, we have paid our taxes. They will not accept that. They want us to prove to them that we paid them. That's simply, I say. I send everything certified Check, ****************** money order or certified Bank money order. That way there is no question as to the funds cashing or not. We also send everything certified mail.....EVERYTIME. Berkheimer must sign for the taxes when they arrive. I have the signature card that says you got them. They will not accept that. They want copies of the certified check or money order, both front and back to prove they cashed it. It should not be my responsibility to prove to you that you have in fact cashed the check I sent to you. My responsibility ended when I paid my taxes. It should be your responsibility to prove to the taxpayers that you are worthy of the tax dollars you are taking from the people for a job that you are supposed to be completing in a professional manor but somehow clearly fail to do. It is not my fault you cannot keep track of your business. We spend countless hours gathering information for a firm that wants to do nothing but sit in a chair and collect tax dollars from the people for a job that they are contracted to do and constantly fail to do it correctly. My question is, why are the municipal ***** and Townships paying this firm? Clearly, they cannot perform the tasks that are asked of them. Every time this has happened, we have provided proof to Berkheimer showing them to be in the wrong. This has gotten old.I should not have to do their job for them. It's about time they realize they work for the people. It's past time for them to do better. They should not be trusted. At All !If they claim you haven't paid something, My advice is to check it out. Don't just take their word. Because they're probably wrong.

It is evident that the do not have a clue what they are doing. And they do not have any customer service. It is not safe to have taxpayers send PII to wecare@palocaltax.... There needs to be a better secure communication for taxpayers to send information. I have concluded that I will sue them if they do not process my return in a timely manner. NY is a reciprocal state of **. So I cannot owe anything when I pay more tax.

Was told by the township I live in that the laws changed so now as a self employed person living and working there I have to pay wage and biz tax. Fun, but okay. Filing wage tax I discover an interest charge because I didn't make estimated payments--how on earth was I supposed to know I had to pay them when I literally didn't know I had to pay the taxes at all? No information was communicated to me about that. So I ask for a waiver and then I'm told that I didn't inform this lousy firm that I was no longer a student. WHAT? I didn't even know I had to report that. I can see from the other complaints that this firm is all around BAD. It's really unfortunate that our municipality thinks they're doing the right thing by working with them.

I'm surprised this company is still allowed to operate as a tax collector, they have a horrible record of constantly trying to collect income taxes and per capita from townships and boroughs of either previous places of residence or from an area you have never resided in. The best advice I can give everyone is to be absolutely vigilant and organized, download the berkheimer app and file your taxes every year through the app. Document every transaction, if you use the app to pay then add your email they will email you a receipt, make sure you save your receipts, because if you don't they will just keep billing you for the same year but from a different borough or township. If they do then you need to fight it...and you do that by documentation. It can be exhausting to constantly dispute these bills, but documentation is the only way you'll be successful in your disputes. Keep a berkheimer file, if you have the documents they will back off.If all of this is just administrative errors then it's of astronomical proportions, to me it seems too great to not have some framework of fraudulent nature woven in.

Constant harassment, wage garnishment to my employer for bills I do NOT owe, horrendous customer service if you can call it that. Will not produce payment records for me. I want it to end.

received a letter from you regarding money owed. I can confirm I never received a letter from you and the one you claimed I received from **** was never delivered to me and was sent back to you in ************* and I have proof of this and you know I do. It is absolutely ridiculous you think it is ok to add a $75 fee to a bill for $16.50. I would never ignore a bill for that small amount. get it together and stop scamming people for a buck.

This company since I moved to *************** ** has been sending me false tax statements trying to collect taxes for this area when I didn't even reside in this area. Are they not required to do their homework before sending out tax bills? Somehow they got my info when I moved to this area and started chasing for taxes in previous areas which I lived and paid my taxes via payroll. This company is a sham and a scam business with no accountability. I will be sending them bills for my time wasted responded to their false bills. I'm forced to give one star not because I want to.Taxpayer

How does this company remain in business? I'm trying to pay a $10 "local services tax". I've tried their website, which didn't work, and have sat on the phone for an hour. I tried the "call back" service but every time Berkheimer called back, the system didn't work when I kept pressing "1" to accept the call. This company is awful!!!!

Berkheimer is an incredibly shady business. I have received several bills for address I no longer live it and every time I file a correction with them they just respond with delinquent bills or "updated" bills for differing amounts still for the incorrect municipality. They just keep adding past due fees on these incorrect bills. I have reached out to them several times to correct my address, and even the Senator's office has reached out on my behalf. Yet they can't mange to get my address or bills correct. I don't understand how the PA government can employ this company.

Received a letter that i failed to fully pay local tax for previous year. I didnt question it. I sent the check with penalty and considered it done. Several weeks later i receive another letter regarding my return two years ago claiming i paid no tax on an income i clearly didnt make for a location i didnt live in at the time. Local governments can hire this company and absolve themselves of these problems while private companies can incorrectly bill you based on poor algorithms and garnish your wages if you dont take the time to prove them wrong.
