County Hauling repeatedly skips my trash collection. We put the can out the night before, everything in the can is bagged, and there is no construction waste.
On June 16, they skipped our trash collection. I had to call three times, and they finally picked it up on June 20.
Then they missed the pick-up again on July 14. I called four times over several days, but they never picked it up until the next scheduled collection day.
On July 28, they skipped us again. After multiple e-mails and reports through their website, they finally came on August 2.
Here it is, August 4, time for the next collection, and they have once again not provided the service for which I’m paying - a service I am legally required to purchase because I live in Shaler. I have no recourse. I can’t take my business elsewhere.

For 2 years and 10 months, we did not receive a bill or any contact (letter, phone call) from this company. They said they emailed us, a email that they said they got from the realtor?? But that email was no longer in use. When we bought our house, it was my understanding that the garbage bill was included in the water bill. Since we had never heard from County Hauling, I didn’t think anything of it. They continued to pick up our garbage and recycling from 3/2020 to 1/2023. In January, 2023,There was a note on my front door to call them. I called, immediately, and they told me that the bill had never been paid and that we owed close to $1500.00. The girl I spoke to said that they would wave some of the fees. She put me on a payment plan. I paid $200.92 in January 2023, then I was set up for auto payments of $80.37 per month for 5 months. At that time, 2 employees said that it would be resolved and satisfied by 6/24/2023. I kept up with the quarterly, that they raised $30, also.
When I called the first week of July 2023, they said “sorry about who you talked to back then but we don’t waive late fees anymore, as of January 2023.” I told her that wasn’t the agreement and she basically had the attitude of too bad. A bunch of back and forth of me calling. Then a supervisor called and basically said the same thing. There is a $648 balance that they said we have to pay. THAT WAS NOT THE AGREEMENT. I will pay for my screw up but when you keep emailing an email address and you don’t get a response, WOULDNT YOU TRY ANOTHER WAY? We made a mistake and so did they. We have no problem paying what we owe but we will not pay fees that could’ve been avoided if this company tried a little harder to get ahold of us.
According to the agreement, we are paid in full.

Thank you for contacting us.  THese late fees will be removed and someone will call you with the remaining balance.

My complaint is against County Hauling is about billing, terrible customer service, and lies. Back in 2020 I called County Hauling because I wasn't receiving bills for my service. When someone finally answered ( they do not answer phones ) I was told that because Scottdale Brough was a mandatory pick up my garbage was now included in our taxes. From that point on I never received a bill. Fast forward to April of 2023. We received a email on a very old email address stating we owed $ 183.00 with no details why on the email. On that same day they called my husband's cell telling him we owed $1700.00 for trash pick up remember we have never received a bill from them for years. So I called them took me many attempts before someone answered. Was told my bill was $ 640.00 and the rest were fees. I then went to our borough building and had a very lengthy conversation with the brough manager. He look at the information I had and told me that many people were having the same issue with billing and that what I got in email wasn't an official bill because it didn't explain the charges. I feel because I was lied to and never received a bill for years I shouldn't pay. The brough tried to work on my behalf to no avail. Theese people are crook they take advantage of people. I think they make their money off of all the trumped up fees. I am really thinking about finding a lawyer to start a civil suit. They are doing this to a large amount of people. I will not be paying them any back fees. I will make my quartly payments from this dat forwad under the new contract that started June 1, 2023. But nothing back from the lie I was told that it was included in my taxes.

We purchased a property back on 5/11/2021. My husband ****** ********* called County Hauling in Oct 2021 and advised that we will not be needed trash services because we are renovating the property and no one will be living there. Customer service advised him to send them an email with proof of utilities to [email protected] He did this on Nov 2 2021. We did not receive any bills the entire time we owned the property. We recently sold the house May of 2023 and at the closing we were told there is a lean on the property for $339.02 from county hauling. We paid the lean so we wouldn’t loose the sale. I’ve made multiple phones calls to them and sent multiple emails. As of today we have yet to receive a refund. I did reach out to Shaler Township and spoke with Ann to express my complaint and concerns. Hoping maybe they will reach out to county hauling to advise as well that the property was under major construction and that no one lived there.

Moved to Connellsville approximately 3 years ago. Upon moving into county haulings “service” (service is a generous term) I’ve had nothing but problems.

After closing on the house county hauling tried to back bill me for the previous owners service. After disputing those charges they were eventually dropped. That is not the issue I’m have currently.

Over the last 4 months, County Hauling has repeatedly not completed their service on the designated day, causing me to have to leave my trash out and attract animals. I have to call and complain weekly. Every time I call I get the same response “our truck broke down” to which I respond “ just on my block, because you got everyone but me.” They then respond with “we will send someone out”. Which sometimes happens, more often than not it turns into the next week, and next week, etc.

I don’t understand why I am paying so much for such terrible service. Truthfully I don’t understand why I am paying at all.

County Hauling does not perform its pickup service on the scheduled day. I have to call multiple times, they refuse to send me to a supervisor, give me the name or number of someone else to call, and simply reiterate the same scripted line. The service is never completed and the trash will sit for an entire week waiting for the next service date. They never follow through on the “dispatch” they claim to submit. This event occurs multiple times a year and it is the same experience each time. When I request a refund for the week they did not perform the service I paid them for, they state they have to send it to a supervisor, who then never calls to perform the refund or question the complaint. No refunds have been issued to my statement. At this point, it’s essentially theft because I’m paying for a service that is not being rendered.

    Hello,

My wife and I bought our first home in Uniontown, PA back in 2012. The residential trash company was called Advanced Disposal. Our account with them was set up on auto pay, and linked to our credit card. So, the quarterly bill was paid direct each quarter.
In 2015 we moved back to Pittsburgh. But we kept our first home and rented it out to friends.
On Saturday May 20th 2023, I received a bill at my primary residence from a company I had never heard before, County Hauling. The bill was for $903.42.
On Monday morning I reached out to them. They told me that they took over refuse collection for Uniontown at the end of 2020. We never received any notification from Advanced Disposal, the City of Uniontown, or County Hauling about this change (Uniontown and Advanced Disposal would have had my correct contact information and address).
The tenants at the service address always let us know if mail for me is sent there accidentally. When asked if they have ever received anything from County Hauling over the last three years, both said they had not (just a month ago they forwarded me a notification from the PA turnpike sent to that old address in error).
I told County Hauling that I'd be happy to pay them for the services they provided (11 quarters at roughly $49 a quarter), but that I didn't feel responsible for the exorbitant late fees they are trying to charge, as I had no idea they were even servicing the property, and that I had never received any bill from them until this past Saturday.
The young lady that I spoke with from County Hauling was very aggressive, said they would not remove the late fees, and that they were planning on putting a lien on the property.
I am asking for the late fees to be removed. If so, I am happy to pay the account in full, roughly $539.

Services have been rendered for this account and bills were sent to the property address on file.  We will waive late fees this one time after full payment of service charges are made.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I spoke with Mary in the billing department. She removed the late fees (she said it still has to be forwarded to the correct department, to officially remove the fees from the account), and I paid the account in full for the services rendered.

This is what I originally asked for when I called, but was told no. I wish I didn't have to file two formal complaints with the Attorney Generals office and the BBB to make it happen. It was the the right thing to do.

Although, I am glad to have the issue resolved. And now that they have my correct contact information, they'll see that I always pay every bill on time.

Thank you, BBB for helping me to resolve this issue.

***** *** ****** for service address of *** ******* *** ********** ** ****** On-line payments were made on 6/23/22 in the amount of $41.32 and on 9/2/22 in the amount of $41.32. Viewing my on-line acct. with them, I was billed $4.88 in late fees for the June 2022 period and $10.24 for the September period. I confirmed with my bank that these payments were in fact paid to County Hauling. I provided this company with copies of my bank acct. statements verifying these payments. I have been in email and phone conversations with company on multiple occasions. Company has yet to credit account and my on-line acct states that my last payment to them was 5/13/22. On-line acct. states that I owe them $226.26 but that does not reflect the above referenced payments and includes those late fees. I want to pay the balance I owe; however, will not until they adjust their records to reflect these payments and remove the late fees.

County Hauling has been our trash collector for the past several years. This past December, they doubled our rates through an agreement with our borough despite being the sole bidder for the contract. We have never been contacted by County Hauling regarding our bill being doubled. After reaching out to the borough, we have been told that County Hauling is charging double the rate to cover delinquent accounts; meaning, those of us who pay our garbage bills are now responsible for those who do not.

To add insult to injury, just this morning County Hauling failed to pick up some larger items that were placed out by the road by us and a neighbor. When we contacted County Hauling this morning, they were extremely rude. We were told that they do not take items over 40 pounds or electronics, but could provide that service for an additional fee. An additional fee on top of the doubled garbage bill.

We requested that they provide us with a list of items that they cannot haul, but they said they do not have a list. It seems that they can take or leave our garbage at their discretion. Additionally, the items that we hauled to the road were less than 40 pounds and not any electronics (a plastic cupboard and a small satellite dish with the electronics removed, so it is basically a metal plate with some metal brackets attached).

We expect County Hauling to reimburse/credit us for one month's cost for our inconvenience, their rudeness, failure to provide a list of items, and failure to communicate with their customers. If they expect us to pay their doubled rates, they need to be able to better serve their customers.

    Business Response

    Date: 05/26/2023

County hauling bid the contract per the guidelines required by the State.  California chose to grant us the contract so any contract disputes would have to be taken up with the township.  Bulk items are limited to one per week.  Anything outside of the contract is subject to additional charges.  We do apologize for any rudeness from customer service representatives and that will be investigated as our calls our monitored.  We will not be crediting the account as we are within contract guidelines.

The information in the contract has never been shared with County Hauling’s customers. We need to be informed of what items they will pick up, how frequently, holiday garbage pick up schedules, etc. The borough may have signed the contract, but we are the paying customers who need to know this important information. They are failing to communicate with us. Our time, inconvenience, and their lack of regard for their customer should warrant a partial refund.

We have been customers of County Hauling for the last year. We have had several instances where our crew will leave cans in front of our driveway prohibiting us from entering, which requires us to stop on a busy road to move them. Pair this with the fact our recycling can and our large garbage can have been broken when they throw them back on the driveway. I was told that it was not their fault, but I can assure everyone I am too cheap to break personal items for fun. When I try to call I either told they will look into it or am cut off. There is no other option which is why their customer service is not willing to actually provide feedback. We are contemplating on buying a dumpster for the road and having a company pick them up. It is a shame that this is what we pay for. I am just hoping they other people speak up.
