12/13/2024 - I became a client of JG Wentworth for a debt "consolidation" program. The program was to consolidate and settle my credit card debt. I was told my debts would be settled within 4-6 months a d someone would start negotiating right away. I was told it would save me between 30-50% in my debt. On 04/01/2025 I audited my account and found no ********************** negotiations after nearly 4 months. The only settlement listed was one that O negotiated with Discover fir a payment of $100/mo. ** was withdrawing over $628/mo from my checking account since January to pay off my debt. On 04/01 I found my account balance at $.04. A breakdown of transactions found JG Wentworth had been withdrawing all of my funds for so called "maintenance fees", "transaction fees", and "settlement fees" leaving no money fir my Discover payment or for negotiations. They did NOT pay my April payment because they stole all of my funds and lied and told me Discover defaulted me for non payment. I verified with Discover I did not default and was listed as paid as agreed. I then started paying Discover directly and ended my contract with **. They never refunded my money and took everything in my accpunt.Business Response

We understand that there is a ton of information presented prior to enrolling. Regarding the process of fees, third party fees, and payment to your creditors. On 1/9/2025 you approved a term settlement with your creditor Discover. This term settlement presented to you showed the monthly amounts that we would be sending each month. We did make two payments successfully to your creditor Discover and per the agreement you signed, we are entitled to collect our fee. Due to your cancellation of the program, we collected our fees owed for that successful settlement. The third-party fees are collected for your escrow account and the third-party legal protection you elected to enroll into. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly.

I am rejecting this response because:
Please provide me with the contract that was signed stating I approved your fees. The only contract I signed said I paid only if JG Wentworth negotiated and reached a settlement on my behalf. JG did not settle with Discover, I did. I never received a breakdown of any fees or information and this was verified by your team. Please provide a statement of all of the months you collected payment from my checking account and an itemization of the fees you charged along with the payments submitted to Discover. I also want a call log because it should be noted I called several times wanting out of the program due to JG Wentworth neglecting to abide by a contract and settle any debts on my behalf. If you are claiming I gave you authorization, it is on you to provide evidence of your claim.

I have consistently been contacted by JG wentworth NON STOP. I have asked to be removed from the call list. Emails etc. this has to stop. I have blocked so many numbers.Business Response

JG Wentworth has been repeatedly calling me multiple times a day from their ************** telephone number, despite my clear and repeated requests to be removed from their call list. Each time I answer or call back to request to be taken off the list, the agent hangs up on me. This has happened with numerous agents, which suggests a deliberate and systematic practice rather than isolated incidents.I am not seeking anything debt-related whatsoever. These calls are completely unsolicited and unwelcome. The frequency and blatant disregard for my requests have become disruptive and extremely frustrating. I am filing this complaint to formally request that JG Wentworth cease all further contact and be held accountable for these harassing and disrespectful practices.Business Response

I have repeatedly asked this company to stop contacting me. About 10 years ago we made an inquiry and unfortunately this has lead to non stop communication. We repeatedly asked them to please stop contacting us and have resorted to blocking their phone numbers. However, we continue to receive mail from them on a biweekly basis. Feb, I applied for a loan online with JG Wentworth. They offered me a program for reducing debt, which I initially agreed to. My docs show that you may cancel within 10 days. I sent an email the next day to cancel the program. The next day my *** called trying to convince me that I need this. I did not sign back up. I noticed them trying to withdraw from my bank acct which was odd because they had that bank info as part of the program since I had loans through that bank. They in fact told me to close that acct since they'd be negotiating with them. So I sent another email telling them to stop. I even forwarded the email proof. I got a response email asking me to call and talk about it, which I did not do. Here we are in April and they have tried multiple times to withdraw money from my bank causing me *** fees. My bank is only responding that I can stop payment, which will cost me. A week ago they sent a letter acknowledging my acct closure, but are still leaving *** about why my pmts aren't going through, and sending statements. Also VMs asking if I want to sign back after I have made it very clear. They sent a second email a week later stating let this email serve as acct closure. I ***ly to each email to correct them that no, my acct ended on Feb 9th and never even started. I filed a complaint with **** and it looks like at this point I will have to get an attorney to make this stop. Its harassment at this point as well as violations. I enrolled in a JG Wentworth debt settlement program & was told not to speak to my creditors because they had a legal team I was paying to do so. They failed to contact my creditors after making a years worth of payments to them. Because of this, I am now being sued by a creditor.Business Response

My husband and I enrolled in a debt settlement program with JG Wentworth (we have since unenrolled). 6 months in and we started to realize how grimy this company was and things were just not adding up. We got a settlement with our largest creditors and the first two payments in the amount of $820 each were never received by the creditor. They were I informed that there were non-sufficient funds, which based on our account balance and ledger with JG Wentworth is not accurate. JG Wentworth continues to tell us that the creditor received the payments, but cannot seem to provide us with any proof beyond a printout from their system. The creditor has been contacting JG Wentworth directly and has repeatedly asked for bank statements, showing the money leaving the account and no one, not even management can provide us with any kind of actual proof. So at this point there is $1640 unaccounted for and we are on the hook with the creditor for the two missing payments that they should have already received.Business Response

Attached is the *** ledger (which was your escrow account) along with the two proofs of payments. *** confirmed that the creditor said they received the March payment, but the creditor is stating they are unsure if it was from a phone or ACH. We are currently waiting for the creditor to get back to us, so they can confirm they did receive it and if there is anything else we can do to get them to locate February we would. The creditor is just being difficult with verifying. We will contact you once we confirm and please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions.
