HOME REPAIR LLC has defrauded us of over $12,000 in insurance money currently. As well as $767.54 out of our own pocket. And then tried to extort an additional $4929.27 out of us on June 12, 2023. Our Initial contract was signed 2/28/22 with a promised timeline for Roof and siding in ***** weeks. We have been waiting 68 weeks, with no work done, more damage to our house, and the company ghosting us with all of our insurance and OOP money. I have asked for my money to be returned since May 22, 2023 and have only been lied to further. 12/19/22 ******** agreed in writing to a Spring start date of May, with us being 3rd in line for completion. Work promised to be done in 12/22, by *******************************, no later that 7/1/23. 2/28/23-************************* reached out to our insurance for extension of time, since they were far past expected completion period. Listed as delays due to ****** limited materials, and most prominently, labor shortages. 5/4/23 Insurance not willing to pay out any more money, without proof of any or substantial work completed. We requested a new contract from ******** for the Roof only. ******************************* claims she would have a resolution by the end of the week of 4/23. Never heard back 5/22/23 ******************************* never responds to request for a contract on May 4th. After waiting an additional 18 days, I asked for the contract once again, as well as our OOP expense of $767.54 returned. I was told that was being reviewed. 2 months since the first time I asked for our funds to be returned.5/31/23 insurance agent reached out to no avail. Asked for all funds to be returned again. ******************************* promised a contract within 72 hours. No contract. 6/12/23 Home Repair tries to extort $4929.27 from us, claiming we withheld funds. We have all documentation that says otherwise 7/10/23- I asked for an update on where my funds were, for the 4th time.I asked for the 5th time to have my funds returned by 7/26. They were not, and I have continued being ignored.

I went through my insurance company for some storm damage to my home. Home Repair completed some of the work and couldnt complete the rest of the work. They need to refund me $3,260.81. I have been trying to get my refund for almost a year. The managers in charge refuse to call me back or refund my money. I need the money to get the other work finished. I am attaching a check that they send me a picture of but never received the actual check in the mail

We have escalated this issue to our accounts payable team. We do have record of a refund being issued. Our team will check in with the bank and get this resolved.

Transaction began Mid March 2022. Came out and estimate, insurance claim filed. Total listed on contract. about $6200 out of pocket an $15000 insurance. All Paid in Full in May 2022. Was told 12-16 weeks to complete. GIven numerous excuses and reasons why completion cant be done. Now keep given dates for completion between May and now. Still not resolved. Still not completed. No faith this will ever be done. Just want refund to take business elsewhere and complete. Godforbid issue, will never be solved and no trust.

First, we apologize for the unprecedented delays on your project. As was discussed with you recently on 9/22/23, we have been facing several issues that have impacted our ability to install as quickly as we would like. We have been impacted by labor shortages and delays involving insurance carriers over the past few years, that have impacted our timelines. These delays have undoubtedly trickled down to our homeowners.

Home Repair has completed over 1200 jobs in the Northeast in the past few years. We provide quality workmanship and a 5 year warranty. While we have recently experienced delays beyond our control, we have every intention of completing your project as soon as possible. We are positive the final outcome and workmanship will be to your satisfaction.

We do see you have been provided with the latest status on your project on 9/22/23. We will keep you updated on the progress.

Thank you for your cooperation in seeing this project through. You will be provided updates until installation. In the meantime, please reach out to us at ************ option *, should you need anything further.

Our service agreement was signed on 11/23/2022 our contact was signed 1/20/23 where it states to allow 6-12 weeks for work to be scheduled. We have on going text messages from a project manager stating due to weather your project date is pushed back 2 more weeks which now takes us to the end of August 2023! We contacted them stating during our rescheduling we developed more damage to our roof resulting in damage to our living room ceiling. Their response was they will just tarp our roof. We contacted our insurance company since this was a storm damage claim, they notified us Home Repair had cashed our insurance check months ago! We've tried calling them to speak with managers no one returns our calls. Please help

    Business Response

We have unfortunately not been able to access this complaint until just 8/25/2023. We had an influx of email go to spam and are trying to sort it all out. We were made aware when we finally received copies via mail.

We would like to issue this response in regards to this complaint:

Our team works primarily with insurance claims and have experienced unprecedented challenges negotiating with claim handlers to ensure that each homeowner is able to utilize their insurance for the restoration while keeping their individual out of pocket expenses as low as possible.

When there are delays working with insurance companies, we unfortunately are delayed with moving forward on our next batch of installations. Our team helps to finance a portion of every claim we work on and then wait to be reimbursed by the insurance company when the final payment is released. We unfortunately are only able to produce as quickly as insurance is able to work with us. The delays have been frustrating to us all, but we understand they are most impactful to the homeowner.

Our team has been working through our backlog to ensure the project is scheduled as soon as possible. We will send an update to Homesite and the homeowner on a separate email to explain the delays and ensure that the claim is handled with care. The homeowner previously reached out and discussed the additional storm damages incurred recently at the property. We promised to prioritize her project at the end of June and moved her job to the current batch to be completed.

We are actively working to get materials on site and the job completed.

I have included the homeowner on this correspondence to ensure all parties involved are aware of the current status. Moving forward, we ask that the homeowner refer to our support team directly for all correspondence so that we can ensure to prioritize the completion of the project.

We will provide the material delivery date and anticipated installation as soon as all details are confirmed.

The process of getting Home Repair LLC to replace my roof has been going on since around the summer of 2021. They finally filed a claim in November of 2021. This was not an easy process. Finally, in April of 2022, my insurance company gave them a payment. What follows is not an all inclusive account. By August I had received the permissions from Tesla to get my solar panels removed and set up a date. I was told by Home Repair that my roof would be started "sometime in the next few months." Then it was in November. Then December. Always with the "weather delay" or "materials shortage" excuse. Finally, I was told it the work would be done in early April of 2023. I explained the date they wanted I would be unavailable. I was finally given the following dates, NONE of which were ever met:4/24/2023, 5/1/2023, 5/22/2023 (AFTER they were informed the panels were not going to be removed until the 24th). In May, in spite of repeated requests, I heard nothing back from the company for two weeks. The panels were removed and I was given a date of 5/30/2023. No one showed up. Then it was 5/31/2023. No one showed up. While communications with this company have always been spotty and emails and phone messages rarely returned, in the beginning of June, the only responses I got were from texts and they contained no meaningful information. No one replies to anything now and I'm being fined monthly by my solar company because the panels have been removed. Home Repair made more vague promises about offsetting that cost, but considering their performance to date, it's unlikely that will happen. This situation has gone on long enough that the insurance company will be voiding the claim, as Home Repair has been unable to fulfil their contract. I am left with no roof, solar panels that have been removed at my cost and fines.

Home Repair acknowledges that we need to complete this project and it has been pushed back several times since May. There are so many variables that go in to scheduling a job. We do our best to project, but things like rain, material availability, deliveries, holidays, and air quality conditions affect our ability to build.

Our management team has spoken with ******************** and advised we would look into and address any lapse in communication. We have obtained a permit to complete the work on **. ********* home and are working out the details for material and installation. We have this project slated to be completed in the next few weeks max and absolutely by the end of July before the completion deadline to collect depreciation. Per the production document the burden of collecting the depreciation falls on Home Repair. We will advise insurance company immediately upon completion and do so.

We also agree to credit for the solar panel charges as we understand the project beignets pushed back has affected the ability to have the solar panels reinstalled.

Again, we appreciate the feedback in regards to communication and will continue to work on improving our communication and timelines.

    Customer Answer

The choices I was given were Resolved or Not Resolved -- and I was still waiting until the 21st of this month because that is the deadline. So that's my rebuttal -- the company hasn't done anything that they were supposed to, but they have until Friday to do it. If they don't, then the complaint stands. THEIR rebuttal was just words, most of which meant nothing.

Home Repair solicited roof work after a storm damaged my roof. With the aid of an insurance adjusted Home Pro received authorization and payment from Insurance company to replace my roof and my gutters and downspouts. In addition my insurance company issued me a credit for damaged siding, work Home Pro was not to complete. When I signed the contract on October 25th, 2022, Home Pro told us the roof would be completed in 10-12 weeks, depending on the weather. It has been a one of the most mild winters yet Home Pro is now telling us the Roof will not be completed for another 8 weeks, depending on the weather. Since the weather has had nothing to do with the delay, Home Pro is not claiming the delays are the result of conditions from covid, a lack of supplies and workers. A 12 week Max Job is now 30 weeks out. They have stolen money and not completed the work. They should complete the work immediately or release the funds, minimally the funds that are mine that they are holding hostage. What a Scam Business!.

    Business Response

    Date: 03/30/2023

In regards to the delays we have explained them to **************. Not only are temperatures a factor (temps above 35 degrees are needed to safely install shingles), we also need to consider high winds and rain. We can not install a roof under any of these conditions. Weather is always a factor when it comes to roofing. This is discussed upon the signing of the contract. It is also stated in the contract for work as well.

In addition, the kept funds for the siding in the amount of $755.26 are to be paid to ************** from his insurance company upon completion of the project. We have also been in communication with ********* and they are aware of the contract terms.

This project is projected to be completed in May. In the meantime, we have gone above and beyond to assist by completing a complimentary gutter repair at no charge to **************. We have every intention of completing the contracted work per the terms of the contract.

    Sincerely,

In the summer of 2022 approx April my mother and myself signed a contract to have storm repair work done through this company and insurance. The work was for roof, siding and gutter replacement. We went through the process and the insurance paid out approx $33,000 to the company and we were told the roof would be done in August of 2022, it is now February 2023 and we still haven’t even received our materials yet let alone have the work done. My mother has been in weekly contact with the company office and each week we are told “next week it will be delivered” and it’s been approx 16 weeks of that. So far we have received the local work permit and nothing more. Each time she calls she is given a different excuse as to why that week was a bad week to have the work done and other times they just say they will look into it and call her back and then she hears nothing. I am getting involved because I also signed the contract since I physically live in the house (my mother is the legal owner). So far we have heard it’s a labor problem, a material shortage, weather problems, they were waiting on money from insurance and more. It just seems like constant excuses with no work ever getting done. We aren’t the only ones, other neighbors have signed contracts and all have been waiting over a year for the work to be done. I just want the work done before my house sustains anymore damage. When we told them we were getting mold they sent us an email explaining how to clean it up rather than just doing the work. We aren’t violating the contract, the problem is solely on the companies end. I am fine with them doing the work but it needs to finally get done and if they can’t or don’t want to do it then I want a full refund of the insurance money so that we can hire a local contractor to actually do the work. Because I feel they shouldn’t keep the money for doing nothing and leaving us with a bad roof and siding. We tried to resolve it but after months, still nothing.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  They are completing the roof now, but we still have to wait even longer to get the whole contract fulfilled because it also includes siding and gutters which haven’t been completed yet.

Our siding crews have been completing projects that are in queue prior to ******* ******. Siding takes several days to install due to the intricacy of the trade.

We are planning to have the siding materials delivered this upcoming week. There are only 2 remaining siding jobs slated ahead of his to be completed. This was already communicated to the homeowner yesterday afternoon (4/26/2023).

I signed contracts with this company in January 2022 to have them install new roof, siding, gutters, metal fascia on my house after a hail storm. Services were quoted by them as being delivered in 12-16 weeks post contract signing (around May the same year). May came and went and then they started pushing the dates back to end of summer. August came and they never should, representatives then pushed me to October and then November. Finally, my damaged roof started leaking in December. Still nobody came to install. I had enough and demanded them to cancel the contract and return my $8,000 deposit. Their representatives then pacified my outrage with "It's been escalated to our management". Now it's January 2023. They take my calls and say it's with the "escalation team". Still no resolution, communications or returned monies. I have had to bring a local roofer out to replace damaged shingles that leaked after I've tarped it multiple times. Home Repair has done absolutely nothing to remedy this situation. They failed to deliver any repairs and are clearly keeping my $8,000 deposit so that I can't hire another contractor. Fraudulent crooks.

    Business Response

    Date: 02/27/2023

****, we have communicated with you every step of the way throughout this project. We have also gone above and beyond to help you with your storm damage insurance claim, bearing all the upfront costs without payment for months while assisting in getting your home renovation approved, with zero shortcuts in quality or scope. Your project delayed because you didn’t sign your contract for 6 months after we obtained initial and subsequent supplement approvals from your insurance company that they would pay for the work, leaving us with a start date in the dead of winter for roofing, exteriors and siding. You then refused to release your ACV funds as required in the Service Agreement you signed with us and breached the contract.

    1. This violated our Service Agreement and our trust. This limited our flexibility in scheduling. Your breach of contract forced us to extend more resources for your project out of pocket, without the full deposit as required. Working with a client who had proven to ignore prior written obligations led to a start date delay to November. We attempted to reach you numerous times on payments owed to remain on time, in case you continued your stall tactics, including requiring a large amount of the funds your were paid just on material delivery along with several progress payments each step of the way. This is typically not necessary when working with clients that actually comply with the written obligations and our Service Agreement.

    2. Once we finally had a tentative verbal agreement on payments from you, you then requested to cancel your contract when we had to push your start date back one week due to supply delays.

    3. Per your request, we have reviewed your request for refund and have agreed to process the refund back to you as provided for in our signed Service Agreement and your refund is being processed. Our Senior Management Team has communicated with you via phone and email prior to your review on this.

    4. At Home Repair, we’re committed to 5-star customer service. We put a considerable amount of time into this before you had approvals from your insurance company. We pulled in our expert claim colleagues to work with your carrier, gaining an additional $26K to do the right scope of repairs on the roof plus all new siding, gutters, fascia, soffit, and wraps. In good faith, we went above and beyond what any other contractor would do, believing that you would comply with your obligations under our signed Signed Service Agreement to go to work for you, without spending a dime out of your pocket on those promises.

    5. The fact is, you used us to generate $26K from your carrier, delayed us for months in getting a signed production document with style and color selections until the worst possible time in the dead of winter, kept the funds that would have untied our hands to do the work, and you’re now trying “theft of service” to steal our services by demanding a full refund after we have performed a great service for you. The delays you experienced were due to your non-compliance with your written obligations and post-contract signing negotiations on payments, not a result of our company. Any business relies on signed agreements and payment as per contract to commence work. When that doesn’t happen, work is delayed.

    In addition:

You didn’t meet your contractual obligations. You delayed signing your Service Agreement which delayed your start date. You then refused to release your ACV funds as required in the Service Agreement you signed with us and breached the contract. We attempted to reach you numerous times on payments owed to keep this project on time. In good faith, we put a considerable amount of time into this before you had approvals from your insurance company. We pulled in our expert claim colleagues to work with your carrier, gaining you an additional $26K to do the right scope of repairs on the roof plus all new siding, gutters, fascia, soffit, and wraps to get your property back to pre-loss condition. We went above and beyond what any other contractor would do, believing that you would comply with your obligations under our signed Signed Service Agreement to go to work for you. You spent nothing for this. Our Senior Management Team has communicated with you via phone and email, mind you, PRIOR to these inaccurate online reviews, regarding your deposit refund that is being processed. We request that you remove these completely inaccurate accusations.

Signed a roof install contract on 6/9/22 and promised install with in 6-10 weeks. About 20 weeks later and still nothing. Called the middle of September told them we have a leak and the drive way as open for materials. I was told materials would be order as soon as possible. They said install would be the first week in Nov. As of last week 10/26 till now nobody called to tell me if it is happening and nobody answers the phone. I did get an email on 10/28 with no name saying they are doing the best can and it sounded like they are having money issued. They are holding $5,000 of my money. I just want to be done with this company. Please help.

I am a disabled veteran and I purchased a home that the previous owners had contracted with this company for some roofing and siding repair related to hail damage incurred in 2019. Well, not even  12 months into owning my home it began having issues retaining moisture and warmth in the winter to having an over abundance of moisture and heat in the spring/summer. We've purchased humidifiers and dehumidifiers to TRY to handle these issues, and we're emptying gallons a day and using gallons a day, depending on the time of year. Well come to find out, this company actually hires subpar local businesses to do their 'storm damage' repairs and if you aren't the 'original client', you get NO help from this business. But, due to their shoddy business practices and the horrendous contractors they hire, my home now has water damage in the basement, an attic with zero ventilation, windows that are destroyed and won't close, and the list literally goes on. So now, I a disabled veteran who used his savings to purchase a home, is now responsible for tens of thousands of dollars in repairs and mitigations to fix roofing, siding, windows, and gutters that may be 'new' but they aren't installed properly, and to remove black mold as a result of the poor gutters your company had installed. This work is an absolute disgrace.

This is a home we performed work on in the summer of 2021, but it was contracted with the previous owner. This homeowner (*** *******) has no contract or warranty Home Repair. The work we completed was approved by the previous home owners insurance company ******* ******. We completed the work as specified by ******* ******. We were not contracted to complete any code upgrades. We completed no structural repairs. The window wraps we installed are decorative, and provide no support to the structure of the home. If the windows are leaking there are a multitude of possibilities of how that happens, least of which would be because of the decorative trim we installed on the outside of the windows. Also I see on the estimate from their contractor pricing for installing soffit, which we never repaired. It was not a part of the contracted repairs that were paid for by the previous home owner.

In conclusion, I believe this complaint is invalid and directed towards our company in error. We have no contract or working relationship with the complainant. When the work was completed we received signs offs from the previous homeowner for every phase of work stating customer satisfaction. We believe this matter should be directed towards the previous homeowner who sold them the home.

As Home Repair has no working relationship or contract with the complainant we are asking that this complaint be considered resolved and removed from your website.

    Sincerely,

This is a copy of my rebuttal that went to the State of PA Attorney Generals Office in regards to this.

and takes it to the dealer, the dealer will honor the warranty because it still has warranty time from the manufacture.

I would like to say that filing a complaint of this magnitude is something I don't take lightly. This is a very important one that has caused a great deal of stress and significant financial hardship. For Mr. S****** to dismiss it with little regard as menial and claim its invalid is low.  This was not a complaint filed to obtain services for free (although this business would never be allowed on my property again) to repair the damages they are responsible for only to have the same thing occur.

This is a viable complaint with verified and significant damages and due to those damages additional issues have arisen as a direct result of their "repairs". This complaint was filed as a matter of fact at the same time I filed a complaint against the sellers agent for issues regarding the sale.  And yesterday, Oct 27, I met with a Special Investigator with the state regarding that case and this complaint was mentioned and he told my wife and I that if we had not filed a complaint with the AG's Office yet regarding all of this, we should.

Today, Oct 29th, one of the leaks that I have has been identified to be leaking from a boot around a vent pipe that WAS replaced during this repair.  This was verified by a local handyman that I asked to come take a look at.

One last note to mention.  I had spoken with an attorney regarding this matter, his caseload is just overwhelming.  But he did tell me that he had spoken to another attorney in the area that had represented another homeowner in my area that had similar issues as mine with Homerepair.com and Homerepair.com threatened and bullied both the homeowner and attorney and told them to drop the complaints against Homerepair.com, they did not drop the complaints.
