I want to file a formal complaint against Home Repair regarding the delay and lack of responsiveness related to my roof repair project, which was initiated on July 6, 2022. I am deeply frustrated and dissatisfied with the level of service and communication I have received from Home Repair throughout this process. I've called, left messages with the answering service and email. Unfortunately, no one has reached out to provide the necessary follow-up, and this lack of communication is both inconsiderate and unprofessional In light of this ongoing situation, I feel compelled to take further action by seeking resolution or my full refund. I've encountered and expressing my dissatisfaction with the service provided. Additionally, my insurance company(********) have paid Home repair $14,000 and no service or no progress has been made on my roof repair. I have lost confidence in Home Repair's ability to fulfill its promises and obligations, Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to a swift and effective resolution..Initial Complaint

Home Repair LLC came to my home in June of 2022 to offer a free estimate and possible insurance claim for hail damage to my siding from the July 21, 2021 storm in my area. They hired ******* ******** a public adjuster to assist with my claim and were able to successfully receive a settlement from Allstate (my insurance company) to pair for the work to be done. The payments came in three checks payable to myself and ****** LLC (******* ********'s entity name). He was to receive 15% fee for his work and the balance went to Home Repair with the understanding that a final "depreciation" payment would be paid by Allstate once work was completed. Work was to begin between 12 to 16 weeks from my contract date of January 3, 2023, approximately April or May of 2023. I repeated received excuses as to why work hasn't started. Covid, weather, materials shortages and have come to learn that I am not the only person dealing with this same situation with this company. There appears to be a Ponzi type scheme going on and many of us who have found each other in this dilemma are working to prosecute this as a criminal matter with the district attorney's office. Again I have not received ANY services for the work that was to be done by Home Repair LLC and they are completely non-responsive at this point in time. I have contacted my local police department and am working with the detectives unit on this with this hope to bring it to the Montgomery County District Attorney's office. I have also filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office for PA.Business Response
Date: 10/11/2023
There are extenuating circumstances to the delays that have been explained via the attorney general.
Our team has every intention of completing the project as soon as possible. We understand *** *******'s request is to ensure completion prior to the winter and will do everything possible to exceed this request.

I am rejecting this response because: Home Repair has not responded to me directly despite numerous attempts to find out what is going on. I have emailed, called several times to various individuals and was told that my emails were forwarded to their legal department, yet NO ONE has contacted me. They have given the same excuses to hundreds of other customers who are in the same situation that I am. I don't know that I would trust them to do the work they were contracted to do at this point. A response directly to ME and not the BBB and the attorney general's office would be nice. These company is scamming customers out of their money or insurance company's money and not following through in a timely manner for the work to be performed. I know of several people who have been waiting for over two years!! They told the attorney general's office that my work would be done this month and yet NO ONE has contacted me from Home Repair to schedule this work. What is their problem??Regards,

They were hired to repair our roof and siding. It took over a year for them to do our roof and they did a horrible job. They did not do what was required by insurance and used cheap material. We want money back because they didn't finish the work and we had to hire another contractor to do the work. It has been a nightmare dealing with them, do not work with them.Customer Answer

I have heard and they are saying they did the job as requested. Attached is an inspector report stating it was not up to code.
I dont need a response from them but want to make sure others are aware of their horrible work and customer service. I know over 5 people that have been swindled by this company. Just horrible. I appreciate your time. You can close this as long as it effects their rating.Initial Complaint

On June 16th 2022, I signed a service agreement with Home Repair LLC. My home had excessive storm damage and this company agreed to repair the damage. An employee named *********************** came to my home on March 23rd 2023 and collected my insurance checks and my $2500 insurance deductible. I still have not had any work done to my home. They have given me several start dates but continue to postpone starting. After going back and forth with them many times, they now refuse to respond to any of my calls or emails. I need to have the work completed on my home and there is no communication with this company.Business Response

On August 22, 2022 , home repair offered people in my area help in filing claims regarding a recent storm. We had roof damage and with their help they were able to get ****************** to cover the roof replacement. I had to sign a contract and they took 500 deductible and half the ****************** monies for the roof. The contract stated the work will be done in less than 16 weeks. At first I was getting text messages about the progress. Then those stopped. When I called numerous times for a specific date I was giving a run around. Eventually they said that the work will be done september 11, 2023. When ic allied for clarity about the supplies being delivered and the date they no longer respond back. I was always told due to the fire in ****** production was halted or bad weather. Its been way over the time frame for this work to be completed and now its a year and a day. I called many times. I emailed and even texted. Still no response. They took half the insurance money and I did inform Allstate and still nothing. Can you please help me ? Thank youBusiness Response

Home Repair has been assisting in storm related restorations for years and we have completed over ***** jobs in ************. The current delays that our team have faced have been unprecedented and we have been doing everything in our power to update our processes to avoid delays in the future.
Our team started to work with Mr. ****** in November of 2022. In Mr. ******** case, his original approvals prior to utilizing our services only allotted for the replacement of the roof vent and roof cap. We have attached this estimate to the email for reference. Our team was able to provide a free inspection to see if the property on ****** Drive was impacted by the hail/wind storm in the surrounding area. We provide the expertise and service to each homeowner we work with, while promising to keep the out of pocket cost as low as possible. We complete weeks, sometimes months of work with ONLY the promise to be paid when/if the homeowner is granted approvals and makes a deposit to transition to our Production team.Over the course of the next few weeks, we worked with the Public Adjuster and ****************** to seek approvals needed to move forward. We were able to obtain enough coverage to have the full roof approved, increasing the $974.13 in approvals to $13,636.83.
We met with Mr. ****** after the final approvals were obtained. We collected his deposit (which is the first and only payment collected to date) and officially transitioned his file to the Production Team. As you can see, we are not just a standard contractor, but a full-service provider. We specialize with the insurance process and educate homeowners on their ability to find full coverage through their insurance. We continue working through the insurance process even after installation.
Home Repair collected $7,689.02 in insurance funding and a personal check from Mr. ****** towards his insurance deductible ($500.00). Per the agreement, Allstate opted to withhold funds until completion of the project. There is a total ''Future Due'' on KNOWN Amounts of $3,871.39. Our team also incurs these costs on behalf of each homeowner we work with. Upon completion of the restoration, we invoice the insurance for the final holdback.
Our team experienced multiple delays throughout the last year and communicated this with ****************** earlier this year. The majority of adjusters have been very willing to accommodate our delays, as they too have been faced with delays. Due to the overwhelming amount of insurance claims throughout the country (due to Fire, hurricanes, tornados, flooding, etc.), the insurance industry as a whole has been extremely overwhelmed. Our team was once able to invoice and collect final funding within a week or two of completion; now it's taking 3-4 weeks for some of the larger insurance companies to review our requests and release the funding. This puts a major constraint on how quickly our team is able to produce. In short, we can only produce as quickly as insurance companies are able to work with us.
It appears since sending in the correspondence to the BBB, Mr. ****** has been speaking with our **************** Manager, *******. Per her notes in the system, she explained the delays in more detail to Mr. ****** and he agreed to proceed with the project with the promise to help our team in expediting his project. Based on their correspondence, Mr. ****** agreed to finance the remaining cost of his project upon completion of the project and in turn wait for Allstate to reimburse him, instead of the final funding being due to Home Repair. This would alleviate the delays from our team and greatly help to expedite the start of his project.Customer Answer

Thank you for writing to Home Repair. Im happy they responded back but I will not be satisfied until the work promised is completed according to the signed contract. In their response they didnt establish a date for this roof install but rather informed us on how busy they are, insurance money not coming through, and or the same excuses I heard more than a few times. I did speak with ******* and she promised to get back to me by the end of the week like two weeks ago. Now she doesnt respond to my concerns and ghosted me. I suspect they like that people complain that way it buys them more time to make up a new excuse as to why this work is yet to completed. Just to let you know Im on a chat log with like ********************************* some cases waited two years for work to be done and had money taken by home repair from insurance. Im not the only one with this issue. My hope is to just get the work done as promised like now already. Winter is coming as will be another excuse for them not to do the work. Thank you. **********************;

I responded to your last request. Home Repair has yet to complete any of the work, according to the contract. In fact, they only responded to the attorney generals office and the Better Business Bureau. After that they still did not complete the work contract for. They kept the insurance money and still as of today, I have no specific date night time as to when the work will be done.
they never completed the work.. hey never called they never set a date or time.

Based on the response from home repair, they mentioned I spoke with ******* about my covering the depreciation from the insurance company so that they could do the work. I agreed to do this as long as the insurance company returns the money to me. As of today I need to confirm a date or time for when the work will be done on my home. Im still willing to pay the depreciation, but I need a date before winter. Thank you.Initial Complaint

We hired Home Repair LLC in March of 2022, to replace roofing, siding, shutters, downspouts and gutters to our home in Oreland,, Pa that was damaged from a hail storm in July of 2021. We also hired them to replace roof and siding to our primary residence in Blue Bell, PA a few weeks later in 2022. They keep ghosting and ignoring requests and phone calls to get this job started and have 1 million excuses why it has been delayed. I feel like it is breach of contract and extreme stress on my family because they keep lying and ignoring our requests. They have been paid deposits from our home owners insurance companies for both jobs. I want the jobs done now and no more excuses. I am asking for any help you can give us to get this company to do the work they were hired to do. It has now been over 15 months and I feel this is just unacceptable .Business Response

We have been in communication with ************************* throughout the weeks while pending installation. Our team has experienced several delays due to external factors outside of our control. The insurance industry as a whole has been extremely impacted due to the severe storms, fires, winds, hurricanes, etc. throughout the county. When there is a surplus of storms, and delay receiving the insurance funding we unfortunately are forced to slow our production rate. In ***. *********************** her insurance deadline passed. This is at no fault to either party, however, we are taking ownership and Home Repair has agreed to do what is best for ************************* by completing the project as agreed, with no additional costs to the homeowner. This means that Home Repair is liable for all costs incurred while on site and is crediting her file the depreciation amount ($10,452.75) as her insurance is no longer willing to pay. The full project scope agreed was $17,008.64, of which $5,555.89 was collected for the deposit. Upon scheduling the project, the homeowner is only being invoiced her insurance deductible of $1000 (as agreed). Scheduling a project of this size has been challenging to plan, however, we are doing our best to ensure a crew is able to be on site as soon as possible. We do have this project flagged for priority and will be scheduling as soon as there is availability. We will provide additional details as we get closer to the start of the project.Customer Answer

Our team is working to schedule the installation as soon as possible. In **************************** situation, her insurance provided a very short deadline to complete the repairs. Due to forces outside of our control, we were unable to meet the deadline, and the withheld insurance funding is unable to be recouped upon completion of the project. We have made the promise to complete the installation as agreed, but need to be able to properly plan for a project of this size due to the financial cost our company will incur on behalf of the homeowner for her insurance's decision. We realize that it is extremely important to the homeowner to have the project completed as soon as possible and are doing our best to be on site as soon as possible. The permit has been obtained and we are working with the crew and supply chain to arrange the final steps of project planning.Customer Answer

We signed a contract with Home Repair LLC in October of 2021 for a new roof, siding, and gutters. They took $12,909.36 up front on a $24,000 job and completed 0% of the work. The contract asked for 12-16 weeks for the installation to be completed at which time i would owe the remainder of the money. It has been 95 weeks as of today and they have not even attempted to begin the work.
None of their employees can be reached. Their 800 number is an answering service and will only ever take messages. Messages that are never returned. They strung us along for 2 years now saying, you’re project is going to begin soon but they never come.
Most recently when asked for a refund on my $12k down payment, they stopped returning my calls completely. I was warned that they will try to impose substantial “administrative fees” on refund request, but i wouldn’t know about that because they are not returning my calls.
Due to Home Repair’s avoidance of my project and the extensive amount of time they’ve put me off, the job price has substantially risen. I was told, unfortunately only verbally by a representative that “we are only doing jobs now that we can make money on, your project is too large and we need a grace period.”
I would just like the job completed. This is my home, my family lives here. Not some commercial property. This incident has been a complete disruption to all of our livelihoods. I need my home repaired or i need a full refund so i can hire another company to repair my home.Business Response

We have received the Consumer Complaint from *** ********* and have every intention in completing the work as promised.
We have experienced delays due to multiple factors outside of our control and have been working through our backlog. Delays originally started due to the COVID-19 shutdown. Following the shutdown, the Country has been significantly impacted by the surplus of storms and weather related catastrophes throughout the nation. These storms have overwhelmed the insurance industry.
We work closely with our client's homeowner's insurance on the majority of jobs that we produce. When there is a delay in receiving the final funding from insurance on completed projects, there unfortunately is a delay for our team to start the next batch of jobs. As a benefit to our clients, we incur all costs while on site and then wait for the insurance to reimburse our team. We do everything in our power to keep the client's out of pocket expense as low as possible while offering high quality workmanship. Offering this service puts a constraint on how quickly we are able to produce.
We were able to work with the Lamoreaux and ***** **** to proactively release the final holdback of funding in order to help expedite the scheduling of this project. We are projected to be on site and have the project completed prior to the end of September, weather permitting.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:Home Repair was well aware of the covid-19 pandemic and material/labor shortages when i signed my contract on 10/15/2021. They made reference to this as early as 10/21/2021 and have made no efforts to begin my project. The attach photo shows that immediately after signing my contract the company began using this excuse. The alleged issues did not stop them from completing 5 other houses on my street in this time. I was told by one of their representatives, unfortunately by phone that, “they are only interested in completing projects right now that they can make money on and my project was too large”. Home Repair was well aware of these issues when they gave an estimate of 14-16 weeks back in October of 2021. It is now 100 weeks since I’ve signed my contract and they have made no effort to begin my project or even communicate with me. It is a also clear that Home Repair has somehow taken this opportunity to go from an “F” to a “NR” with your organization, shortly before there profile was deleted altogether. After 100 weeks they respond that it will be done in the next two weeks when the estimate calls for a full week to install and no steps have been made to coordinate material delivery? They have acted in bad faith throughout the entire process. They also take this opportunity to cut off communications with their customers following formal complaints. Their representatives stating that the “case has been flagged” and they will do all their communication through moderators moving forward. Following this, and the more than 100 weeks since the contract was signed, they still claim this will all be completed by the end of September while simultaneously cutting off communications. Clearly more delay tactics. Home Repairs’ customer service/escalation/legal teams etc have already sent me numerous messages like this (some included in the original complaint) over the last two years. All dates missed, all promises broken. Since the company have handled my case in bad faith i have no faith that they have any intention of completing my project despite my absolute commitment to have the work done literally any time.

I signed a contact with Home Repair LLC in December 2022. They received over $11,000 from my insurance company in January 2023. Since then I have received numerous excuses for delays of service. Service date continues to be pushed back. They complain of staffing issues yet continue to recruit more work. It is now end of summer. Yesterday they pushed it back yet again to end of October. We hired Home Repair approximately 15 months ago to repair our roof after hail damage was continued. We have been waiting since for the job to be complete. They have 1/2 our insurance money at this point. We have been told over ten dates that the job will happen, to no avail and more pushed back dates. 10 days ago we were told that materials would be dropped off and that the job would start within a day or two. The materials were dropped off, and no further communication has been made despite MULTIPLE emails and messages for the supervisor, ******* ******. At this point we have no idea that our roof, after signing a contract sixteen ish months ago, will be completed or not. Communication has been awful . This company does not care about their customers, but rather how many jobs they can get contracts and money for with no follow through.Business Response

We signed a contract on 3/21/23 with this company to do work stemming from storm damage. We were told 12-16 weeks for installation. To date no work has been performed, the weekly updates We were to receive have not happened and I'm pretty sure they're scamming me. I requested my money back from them, which was paid to them from my Insurance company. It's $13768.00 they deducted approximately $1700 to pay a public adjuster and are saying they're taking another 20% to Home Repair. Home repair has not done any work,so why are they taking my money. ******* indicated my husband signed another contract back in October of 2022. I explained we never signed any other contracts. She looked and said oh I see hear we didn't send you that copy for your records. I requested that copy and once I received it ,I immediately messaged her to let her know that it definitely was NOT my husband's signature. I'm calling daily to get my money back, since I had to find my own contractor to do the work and I would like MY money back. When I call I never get to talk to anyone,I'm always told we have to take a message and someone will call you back. I've been given so many excuses, from supplies weren't available, we had staffing issues and the best one is we need to get paid from previous jobs,so we can get your materials to start your job. They already had my money to purchase materials, sounds like they used that on someone else's job. I'm at a loss to getting a full refund. My insurance company said to just say that the person I signed the contract in person with is no longer there,so we should just get our money back. Let's part our separate ways,no harm,no foul were her words to use. Also by them keeping my money is insurance fraud. I don't feel they should get any money, because no work was done, nothing was explained regarding cancelation policy. I was not given the contract signed on March 21,2023. It was emailed and I had to print it out myself.

Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.
As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
