1 starI rented a storage unit for 9 years. I was paying twice the rate of new customers (without promotion rates) because they raise the rent a percentage every year vs market rate they use for new customers. The employees were aware of this and were not allowed to mention it to me. Feels like I was cheated out of thousands of dollars over the 9 years. 2 starsIt is concerning that the storage unit rates have increased by nearly $50 in the span of a year. This increase in fees does not appear to be accompanied by any additional services or improvements to the storage units. For instance, there is no lighting inside the units, and the storage lot is not accessible 24 hours a day. Furthermore, the lot at my location is covered in rocks, which is not ideal for storing belongings, the only concrete is inside the units.I would advise against using this storage company. They may attempt to justify the rate increase with an inadequate explanation.Review fromCarolyn A

1 stardont do it. I havent been able to log in to my account for almost 2 weeks. I emailed them on the 22nd to ask for assistance. No response.I emailed them again on the 27th, this time ccing a few emails from the website since I couldnt get an answer.Seconds after I sent that email, I got a phone call (which I sent to voicemail - mostly out of habit of getting spam calls). The voicemail said once again we are trying to contact you via phone.This is the first time I received a phone call from them in regards to this matter.I then received an email that states we have tried to reach you several times via phone line and left several messages.My issue with that is that it was completely untrue, and it seems like bad practice to outright lie and to try to gaslight the customer into thinking that they just havent been paying attention to their calls. Placing the blame on the customer when they were the ones not doing their job is pretty horrific business practice.I told them Id like to resolve this issue over email and for very obvious reasons do not trust the person who just called me or the person who emailed me to resolve this issue.Guess what? Still no response a week later.I came here to leave a review and leaving feeling disheartened. It is pretty clear that they dont care at all about the customer based on what Im seeing.Dont give them your money. Go ANYWHERE else.Review fromOren C

1 starCubesmart will quote you a different price than your actual bill post 30 days of obtaining unit. Cubesmart claims you may open account online to make auto payments or you may call your store manager to make a payment yet feature does not work and employees at store including manager are told to say that they are working on the problem. This is by design, so that you are forced to pay a service charge when paying by phone. The service charge is $6.50. The business makes paying automatically as they promise impossible in the hopes that they may claim the rights to your unpaid for unit in the event you cannot make payment or are fooled into believing their auto payments or pay on phone with store manager actually takes place. This is a horrible nation wide problem with this business.Review fromMary B

1 starDo yourself, and, your possible grieving family, a favor and do NOT rent a unit from this company. They are now harassing my fiancé for a late payment for a storage unit that was his deceased mother’s unit. He was listed as an EMERGENCY CONTACT, and before you wonder, no, he never signed ANY contract. I called yesterday hoping to resolve this issue, as we had told the company that she was deceased and yet, we received yet another letter in the mail. The GM, of all people, was highly critical of our situation and very inconsiderate. So before you decide to pick this storage company, who harasses grieving families, don’t. 1 starfacility is clean and new in Ellicott City MD. It is claimed to be Environmentally controlled. I had 10x30 unit storing most of my furniture from July 2021 till December 2022. it was recommended to get insurance policy to protect my staff. Here is how we got our staff after two years. We got our family room furniture full of mold. we showed that to the officer, he recommended to file a claim. after a month and half they came back that insurance does not cover mold on the furniture...total SCAMReview fromKatrina S

1 starThe manager, Kristen, has been bullying myself and my fiance since the day we reserved a storage unit with cube Smart. She has used foul language while calling me names, accused us of multiple things , and harassed us multiple times and we have only had a unit for approx 40 days.Review fromAlyce K

1 star-door code didn't work first 2mos -charged for a lock but hadn't moved in yet and verbalized exactly when I was moving in, to the same person who charged me. - red lock placed on my paid unit that they just took out of my account 8 days before I tried accessing my unit. Keeping me from accessing my things and leading to have to buy more stuff unnecessarily for work! - 2 dollys for entire storage facility making it difficult for people moving in on the same day. - broken doors kept open for anyone to enter, disgusting bathroom with no toilet paper, paper towel or soap, broken elevator lights (for 2mos). - supposed to be climate controlled I have to change moisture bags 1x monthly due to being completely full. -water in my unit, made a work request to get it fixed or checked out 5 days before I moved in. They never came. -poor communication and customer service practices. - and in the midst of all of these issues went up on rent! - requested a call from regional manager and local manager to explain these concerns on 11/19. Was told by corporate that they are supposed to call within 48hrs of receiving the request. It's been over a month. Today is 12/27 and still no call.Review fromTeri B

1 starRodent infested storage units. VP and regional manager offer nothing in compensation. Denied by their insurance that they make you purchase. 1 starIf I could give this business zero Stars I would. It seemed all cool when I first opened the agreement with the manager on site he was really nice and wasn't so professional though. He was trying to sell me and my fiance and electric scooter that he got out of a storage unit that not bought by anybody after it was taken over by the company. He made a mistake on the pricing when it came to my storage unit and so he gave me a discount because he was wrong about the price and it was actually $20 more than what he quoted which was cool I took the advantage of the discount. And even though he made a mistake. One night I was trying to get my storage unit situated and I lost track of time and noticed that it was 10:02 I hurried up through everything in my storage unit and in my car and drove to the gate and got locked in. I called the facility and it told me that I had reached the business after hours and to leave a message no one called me back for 2 hours straight so I got online and looked into a little bit more information and I finally got a hold of somebody that gave me a gate code to get out but they told me that somebody was supposed to be living on site nobody lives there. So that was a lie from the beginning. I got a call from the storage manager the next day telling me that if this ever happens again he will put me in for an eviction when I signed up he told me if it happened a couple times it'd be okay but after that the eviction could start well that was only one time I made a mistake he made a mistake but I didn't get on to him about that he was already threatening me about evicting me. Then he proceeded to tell me that I wasn't allowed to be on the property no longer for than 2 hours a day. It takes a long time to get everything situated in your storage unit when you first move in. But he threatened to kick me out if I'm there longer than 2 hours because it took me so long. I feel like I'm being judged more than appreciated as a customer.
