I have never been to a bank that will not cash their own checks. One of my customers paid me with check from first national bank and when I tried to cash it I was told I had to have an account to cash it. Or have the person who wrote the check come to the bank with me. It really irritates me and I think it should be illegal for a bank to refuse to cash one of their own checks. I will never open an account with this bank.First National Bank of PA

Horrible. They removed online access, requiring you to use an app. The app is useless (not that web based access was better). Everything is phone call. Zero ability to do simple things like filter & sort transactions, change a pin, etc. Unfortunately i live in an awful small town. Not many options. Currently researching online banks. This is by far the lamest excuse of a financial institution that I've experienced ever. And I'm no kid.First National Bank of PA

$37.00 for each overdraft and a total of $1356.67 in overdraft fees over a 7 day period. This is a small business account for a very small cafe in the middle of nowhere Pa. You withdrew more money than I'd be able to even put in my account in 7 days with no notification, text, email, letter. Please explain that to me? So thrilled I get to pay this bank what would be 2-3 cash income that they stole in only 7 days.First National Bank of PA

I want to spare you the hardships our family has had to endure because of this bank. Please heed my words, especially if you are on the poor side, like my family. This is the greediest bank Ive ever been a part of. Weve been with this bank almost 25 years when it was metro bank. Something has changed! Our story: My husband is disabled, we have kids and work hard to make ends meet, but we are still below poverty level. During the pandemic we were charged $1,000 in overdraft fees (Im being conservative). We wanted the overdrawing and the overdraft fees to stop, we were struggling, to say the least and the fees were causing more problems financially. We contacted the branch many times because of our struggles. We were told we both needed to come in to sign forms, this was a struggle for us with the pandemic and disabilities. We finally were able to get into the bank and signed what was needed to stop the overdraft and fees. However, over the past two weeks we are seeing overdraft fees once again and $200 has been taken from us. This may not seem like much, but for us it is a lot, especially around Christmas. I knew this holiday season would be tough for my family due to the recent unexpected passing of my mother, but I am finding that Im not just crying because of her death, but because of the money that we desperately needed being taken from our account. Weve called, left messages, we were told they would get back to us, to no avail and tomorrow is Christmas. Im heartbroken for my kids. We have been in contact with this bank over the past years for several reasons and one was regarding the open letter from the CEO/President about helping out those in need to get back any overdraft funds taken during the pandemic. Of course, were given the run around for months and now the letter is mysteriously gone. Im literally disgusted by this bank now that I'm reading all the other hardships they have caused. We need the news involved and we need a lawyer.First National Bank of PA

First National Bank participates in predatory banking through junk fees. I wish I would have read these reviews before signing up. Started a business checking account because an acquaintance worked at FNB. First red flag was the fact I had to physically print an application, sign it, and send it back. Second red flag was the fact no one let me know once my account was set up. I had to reach out to them. Third red flag was me being denied for a $1,000 line of credit even though I met the minimum credit requirements ( I was approved for a $10,000 line of credit by my credit union with the same borrowing application.)Even with 3 major red flags I still wouldnt have found it necessary to write this review but today I discovered First National Bank is involved in predatory lending practices via junk fees. On November 14th my account was negative due to a returned check fee. Totally my fault, no real excuse. FNB charges $8 everyday that an account is over drafted. While most banks are doing away with charging people for not having money, FNB is overcharging. I called the 800 number to try and pay a negotiated amount. ******* informs me someone from the branch will call in 2 days but the fees will continue to accumulate. Lol what? 3 days later, I still didnt hear anything and I was planning on following up anyway when I got a letter in the mail. Your account has been overdrafted since 11/14 and you can call this 800 number to set up a payment plan. So I called again and talked to *** who explained that only the branch could reverse the fees. I call the branch and the manager confirms that he can only refund $40. Obviously thats unacceptable since the account is $200 negative just in fees. Never once did anyone from FNB show an ounce of empathy, which shows they have a lack of desire to do whats best for the client. Ill be filing a complaint with the local media and FTC to look into these practices and see who else they are scamming.First National Bank of PA

I have been a customer of FNB since they acquired Parkvale. I have several business accounts, LOC's, personal accounts, and accounts for our kids. I have refinanced loans and mortgages at least a dozen times with FNB. Anytime a transaction is handled at the local branch it goes smooth and seamless. When it goes beyond the local branch, it is a nightmare! FNB set up a loan for me a few years ago incorporating 4 investment properties into one loan. I thought it sounded like a great idea until I just went to sell one of the properties! The only real advantage of the loan was 1 payment instead of 4 but with electronic banking 4 clicks to transfer funds between accounts isn't really that big of a deal. This is my situation and my complaint that has me looking for a different banking option: I was selling property 1 for almost double of what the property was valued at in the loan. Properties 2, 3 and 4 are all similar in size and within a mile of each other. All 4 properties were appraised 2 years ago when this loan was setup and values have only increased in the area proven by the sale. I only needed a small portion of the loan released to keep the *** at 55%. Keep in mind there were still 3 properties left as liens. FNB refused to utilize common sense and I was forced to payoff a low interest loan and roll funds into a high rate LOC that I had open or risk losing the sale of a property that i received a top dollar offer on. Appraisals were ordered at on each of the 3 properties but no rush to help expedite the process to save the original loan. When I decided I had to move forward with paying off the loan to save the sale, I asked FNB to cancel the appraisals. I have not yet received the refund for the appraisals that weren't performed, I was basically forced to payoff a low interest loan that had 12 years remaining and to top it off, FNB charged me a 2% early payoff fee that they could have waived. FNB could care less about their small branch customers.First National Bank of PA

I agree with ***** **, “They are rude and liars. Don't bank with them they will say something is fraud when in reality it is not. They hold your money and do not let you have access to it say they are checking for fraud but take a month before reaching any decision. They are not to be trusted tellers tell you its ok to cash a check but then they put it as fraud 4 months later.” I have been with Metro/First National Bank for 11 years. They way I was treated by the assistant manager and manager was disgusting! Similar case like *****’s, they belittle me, accused me of fraud and a lier! They did not bother looking for a solution or how I can resolve my problem. Instead, they said the late fees and overdraft isn’t their problem and you will be held accountable for every last dollar! They accused me of fraud and asked my over 20 questions about transactions, what I used the money for, demanded to give out information about myself, family, job history, the people that provide me the check, and failure to help with me situation! The manager ********* from 5th street highway Reading, PA 19605 is by far the worst manager I have ever met! Accused me of a lier and theft! Once this issue is resolved, I will be canceling my bank account with them and I will encourage friends to do the same! ********* needs to be reevaluated immediately! There is a reason why First National Bank located in Reading, Pa has the most turn overrate with employees because of the manager and how they screw you over with fees and overdraft fees! I want a district manager to reach out to me to let them know I unprofessional I was treated! Won’t be surprised if I don’t hear nothing back.First National Bank of PA

I wish I had not done business with this bank. They have caused nothing but problems from the beginning, are extremely unorganized and rude, unwilling to help, and will steal money from you. They also will not value your business whatsoever, or even pretend they want you to stay with them. I would not recommend this bank to anyone.First National Bank of PA
