1 starThis company is worthless, pathetic, fraudulent, and scandalous. This poor excuse for a company is governed by ERISA which basically protects the damn company allowing them to deny coverage for bullshit reasons and abuse their “decisive privileges” and does little to protect the consumer. They often get away with wrongful declination of what would be rightfully deserved benefits to consumers by practicing sketchy tactics.
Such as performing “paper only” medical reviews of your records. They hire a third-party doctor to review your file, without ever meeting with you in person. The problems with a paper-only review are numerous. It is very common that the consulting doctor:
has insufficient information about your condition
has never examined you or spoken with you
ignores medical evidence from your treating physician
selectively finds (cherry-picks) evidence that works against you
This doctor makes the final judgments about your disability status, stating you can perform gainful work and supporting claim denial.
I filed my claim in September which was denied for pre-existing which they commonly do. (Go figure). I had my doctor and another provider provide detailed letters and records indicating that in fact what I was being treated for was in fact not the case. I had to of course appeal my claim and was told directly from their staff they pre maturely denied my claim. Then bombarded with a ton of l requests for additional papers and docs (who they already had and some they wanted did not even exist). All taxtics to delay the process. Then I get another letter a month later telling me they weren’t denying the claim, but yet were going to give additional
Time to submit more documents if needed. All tactics to attempt to delay the process and wear me down thinking I’m
going to give up. It’s been 4 months now and they (surprise) decided to deny the claim anyway based on apparently a unqualified medical professionals review of my documents. Hey Lincoln - ????Review fromLaurie S

1 starThis company has an awful phone service. Very long holds and then must transfer to another department for another long hold. I followed instructions given to me by their account rep to gain access to my father's account as the POA, had their form notarized as requested and returned all information as directed. They said the legally prepared/court ordered POA documents could not be accepted. Requested to speak to a manager and was told the only option was to request a call back within the next 24 hours. A very unnecessary and inconvenient hold up for our family who is already struggling to handle an overwhelming amount of financial and legal responsibilities.Review fromJeffrey H

1 starI’ve been with the same company for 21 years counting my time off for disability. I was on short term, long term for potentially 2 years and finally SSDI. After a year and a half and getting approved for SSDI, Lincoln’s doctors say I no longer meet their requirements and my conditions are based on self reported opinions.
I’ve been treated by a psychiatrist and therapist for years and take 4 medications for my conditions and my condition hasn’t improved. Even my therapist says she doesn’t understand AT ALL how they came to this conclusion. My workplace has been great and supportive and have paid towards disability insurance over 20 years on me. I will lose my insurance from work now, thanks to Lincoln’s biased opinions. I have to give them my back pay from SSDI on top of all this, which I could use for insurance since I can’t get Medicare for 2 more years. I hope my employer chooses another company for their employees future because this company is heartless. I’d give negative stars if I could.
At least I won’t get more depressed and anxious dealing with Lincoln Financial anymore.Review fromJill H.

1 starThis so called insurance company is an absolute nightmare to work with. Lincoln is very skilled at giving their customers the run around to ensure that they don’t have to pay. I believe their goal is to make people desperate enough to go back to work because they refuse to pay the disability benefits you have paid for. So you have little choice other than going back to work even if you are still sick or injured due to lack of funds.
They charge the rules as you go. Every time you call you get a different person even if you ask for the last person you spoke with. Every time you call or send an email their response is give us 5-7 business days. This behavior is shameful to make sick and injured people who are already suffering go through all this ridiculousness. Shame on you Lincoln! I hope you feel good about yourselves with your million dollar bonuses while people in need can’t pay their bills or buy food for their family. My advice don’t use this company for anything.
I hope if I can at least help one person not choose this company It will be worth it.
If I could give zero stars I would.Review fromKina W

1 starI filed a std claim with Lincoln Financial Group on 10/10/22 because my sister suddenly passed away from cancer, a week or so later my niece was murdered and my 15 year old Goddaughter committed suicide. I have been severely depressed, I had to drop out of school because I was failing my classes. My mortgage and bills haven't been paid because I have no money or PTO left. Lincoln Financial Group is a fraud and there needs to be a class action lawsuit filed against this company. This company doesn't care if you are half dying they will never approve your STD claim. They will give you excuse after excuse while they attempt to find loop holes in your claim so they won't approve it or give you the benefits you need and deserve. This company needs to be fined and put out of business. This company is responsible for further shattering claimants and their families lives. This should be a criminal offense.Review fromrobert s

1 starI had to post pone a leave and left the company several voicemails. Never received a phone call back. My employer would tell me that my leave was not cancelled and will not pay me since lincoln financial still has me in medical leave status. Super frustrating, and still no one has called me back after 2 weeks of leaving multiple voicemails.Review fromMonica J.

1 starThis company is a complete nightmare to deal with. It took 3 months before my short-term disability was approved. I called everyday and left messages on the supervisors voicemail but never received a call back. It wasn't until my call was escalated from the call center. I was told someone would call me back and within 30 minutes my call was returned and approved at the same time. My case is now in long term. The exact same information needed to process long-term is already in the system from short-term, yet it has been 6 weeks and no check. I have called corporate twice in the last week and promised a call back yet today makes a week and I have yet to be called. I was supposed to return to work but I can't without medication and these people refuse to return a call. As soon as I get back to work I am canceling membership and will be sending out a message to all my team members to let them know my experience with Lincoln Financial Group and not to renroll this October. Terrible, terrible customer service.Review fromWallace W

1 starI am a client on short term disability through my company. We filled out an application for direct deposit. I received ONE letter through the mail telling me that Grant N****. Would be my case manager. After surgery, the secretary at my work contacted me and told me an amount was deposited into my account on August 25th. I checked my account and no deposit was ever made. I called Mr. N**** multiple times to find out the status of my claim. He has completely ghosted me. No return calls, emails, or even a text. Turns out Mr N**** made a mistake and sent a paper check in the mail. Took me 3 weeks to get a payment. Which put me behind on bills. I then tried to contact Mr N**** again to just verify if the mistake was corrected. And again, no call back, email, text, nothing. I had to call customer support to talk to some one to verify it was corrected. The assistant on the phone asked if there was anything else she could do. I told her I wanted to file a complaint. She said have a good day and hung up. Mr. N****, if you make a mistake, own up to it! DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CLIENTS IN THE DARK!! Now time to move forward and catch up my bills. THANKS.Review fromJequita L

1 starI wish I could give a 0 however my services with them has been hell from start to finish. I have short term disability through my employer. I had an open surgery (major) 6/1 /2022 which required me to be off work 8 to 12 weeks returning 7/27/22 . They denied the last 2 to 3 weeks stating that it was not medically necessary .If it wasn't necessary he would have sent me back 07/15/2022 after the appointment instead of another 2-3 weeks off. I could barely stand for 30 minutes without being in pain. I had my stomach cut from top tp bottom with staples and sutures and they expect me to be back tp work in 6 weeks. The funny part is I had another claim with my other job ( a hospital). I was paid with all the same documents. They were very upset that I kept calling for an update. On the 9th of august I was told my claim was sent for review but was not touched by the review team. Then I get a called on the 10th saying it was denied. Really you look at determined this in less than 24 hours. They are taking people money, and you can never speak with a manager. They don't call you back and deny your claim when you start to question how things are done. My coworker had 2 knee replacements and they denied her extension as while. They are taking people money and it is not fair. It is starting to look as if they don't want to pay people their money. This service is taken oy of my check every 2 weeks. I will no longer deal with this company and have spoken to my employer about another company that my other job use for the entire company.Review fromBelina B
