Last year a local (Corpus Christi) employee--***********************--working for Asplundh knocked on our door and asked for permission to access the rear of our home to cut some trees from a back neighbors' home that were in the wire lines. I was reluctant and said I would talk to my husband. My husband later spoke with **** and told him that he did not want to allow access, because he did not want damage to the new driveway work we had done. ****************** assured him no damage would be done. Unfortunately, when leaving the property one of the Asplundh employees drove up the corner of the driveway and made a large break in the concrete. We contacted ****************** the very same day. He came out and assessed the damage and said they would take care of it. Over the next few months, Asplundh kept sending contractors out to look at the damage and to give them estimates. The contractors never gave us the estimates. At first they sent actual legitimate looking companies, but maybe they did not like the estimates because they continued to send people. I think they eventually got 5 quotes or so. Finally, the picked a guy who did not appear to have a real company. His workers did substandard work and they were drinking on the job when we arrived home that day. We reported our disatisfaction to both Asplundh and the contractor they hired. Nothing has been resolved. A few weeks ago, we contacted Asplundh and spoke to a Manger named *** *************). He sent ****************** out to meet with us and the sub-contractor. They had an argument and blamed the problem on each other. ****************** acknowledged that the work was terrible and told the sub-contractor they hired he needed to redo the work. Still, nothing has been done. At this point, we would like to hire someone we trust to do the job. The job will cost approximatley $3,500. I would like to be contacted by someone at Asplundh who can assist with this matter. It's a shame that a major company hires shoddy subcontractors.Initial Complaint

Asblundh tree services cut on our property at around 8.am. to 4p.m. not speaking to anyone in the household and walking all over the property. This company also proceeded to cut down an 18 year old flowering bush costing well over $2000 that has been planted there for years a not only was it not the height of worry nor was it in the way. They also proceeded to leave trash and chainsaw chains in our property roads that are used frequently. **** cans, dip cans, water bottles and just trash. We have let them cut here for a few different years and have always stated to not cut the bush down. This team spoke to no one and did tress pass into areas of no need to them. And leaving a gigantic mess in which we are not able to cleanup This occurring on December-10-2022.Business Response

I talked to the customer **************. I let him know that we tried to knock on his door, no one answered, but we still had a job to do. The guys didn't go outside of the power lines right of way other than knocking on his door, to the trucks where they were parked and a path around to look and see what the other end of the power lines to see what work needed to be done. We came back to finish the job Monday morning, (we were off on the weekend), they ran out of time so figured they would pick the trash up when they returned to work Monday. We let him know we didn't cut the bush, it wasn’t a fresh cut. He just doesn't want us to cut on his property anymore so we wrote it up as a refusal and will no longer do the work required on his property.Initial Complaint

On November/2022, Asplundh out of ********* ** was sent to clear cut power lines. During their time at our property clear cutting, they cut trees on our fence line squishing our fence and causing me to loose 6 goats. We have contacted aspen directly who sent us to an *** foreman; the foreman came to our property and tried to "fix the fence" by pulling it back up but it is not anywhere near fixed enough to hold livestock. We also lost SIX goats who was pregnant about to have babies (double the price they are actually worth). The *** foreman basically called us liars. All we asked was our fence be fixed correctly, and our goats replaced and they would not do it. We was then contacted by a different person from ***** who told us that he would NOT be fixing it. However, if this issue is not resolved we WILL be getting a lawyer and suing for way more than what we are asking to be replaced. That is the right thing as a company to do.Business Response

11/28/22 Asplundh Tree Expert LLC came to my property on behalf of ************** to trim tree limbs that needed to be at least 10 feet away from the power lines. I asked them to please stop so that I could call ************** to discuss an alternative as I do not want strangers on my property or trimming my trees that I have worked very hard to foster. I wanted to see if it was possible to hire a landscaping company of my own choosing. They ignored me and proceeded to trim anyway. They cut significantly more than 10 feet, costing me thousands of dollars lost in property value. Additionally, they threw the trimmed branches down onto my yard, damaging more plants and bushes in the process. The complaint is that they were unwilling to talk to me and proceeded with the trim anyway despite my pleas for time to speak with *****. The complaint is also that they cut more than 10 feet and careless threw the trimmed branches onto my property and damaged my plants and bushes.Business Response

Asplundh was hired by the utility company(assuming ****), to remove any limbs or trees, endangering the power lines with in 15 feet. We were given notice weeks and weeks ago but no heads up of when actually. I spoke with an employee face to face, 2 weeks ago who had flagged a single tree in our yard. We discussed, it, that day and minimal branches were trimmed. Mind you that is a giant oak standing right next to the power pole itself! As I write this, it is more of a danger to the lines than any other tree( post trimming)! They've been up and down our tiny street 3 times in the last several weeks and in an exceptionally disorganized manner. Today I was awoken at 8 am to more tree trimming with another employee standing in front of my bedroom window, which is mind you, 30 ft from the tree they were mutilating. They cut every limb from a healthy hickory tree that was NOT flagged for trimming. They did the same to my Poplar. If every limb must be cut from a tree, then take the whole tree right? They will die now and become more of a hazard than before, and become our problem. If they needed to remove any hazards within 15 feet of the line, they should've taken all three trees down completely! Bare trunks with no limbs to support leaves, equal soon to be dead trees!I am irate. I am tired of listening to tree trimming and grinding from every angle in no organized fashion with no end in sight. They said "we're just doing what we're told and I dont know why they didn't trim these." Then they said they didn't trim them because of my neighbors dog the last time which is BS because they had no problem doing the other one 2 weeks ago and dog was in. By their standards based on the look of my other two trees, the one they did two weeks ago should be decimated. I told them to take the entire trees now that they've murdered them. They just ground the "brush" and told me to have a nice day. This is absurd. I'm sure my electric bill will go up with no shade now...how nice.Business Response

About 3 months ago Asplundh started cutting trees for maintenance on ****** power service lines in our area. 8 weeks ago or so they cut the ones going into my yard which I have no problem with. I understand they have a job to do and lines need to be maintained. However they drove the cutters thru my yard, and out of my driveway leaving tracks in my yard that will not be pleasant to mow over to mow over. On top of that all limbs cut are still laying in my yard as the day they left close to 8 weeks ago. I have flagged down their trucks in the area on two occasions, and was told they had two clean up trucks and one broke down etc. but no one has made an attempt to clean up anything. The sad part is my house is surrounded by woods. Where they trimmed was 30 feet from the wood line. The limbs easily could have just been walked into the wood line and left out of the yard. I will eventually have to clean up myself because grass needs to be mowed. I work a lot and time means a lot to me so wasting time cleaning up something a company was paid to do doesn't sit well with me out of principle. I would expect better from a professional company.Initial Complaint

My 95 year old mothers problem occurred in April when ***** hired and sent a tree trimming crew from Asplundh Tree Service to the back of her house to prepare for the removal and installation of a pole into her back yard for the transmission of electrical service. During the tree trimming process, workers from Asplundh applied undue pressure to the support wire that allows for the transmission of electricity to her house. This resulted in that wire pulling bricks out from her house. I filed a claim on her behalf with ***** for the cost to repair her home. An electrician installed a new Service Drop Brackett and a mason removed and reinstalled the bricks that were pulled from her home. Total cost was $550. ***** responded to her and stated the claim would be handled by Asplundh Tree Service. I have tried to reach them for 3 months and they refuse to call me back. I have contacted ***** and they have requested that they contact me back. No luck. ***** says it is not their problem.Initial Complaint

On July 19th you had Asplundh come onto my property and tree my tree. However, that is not what they did. They cut off the entire back half of my tree. I called *** three times since this with no return call. There were only three small limbs that needed trimmed back aprox a foot. There was no need and no permission given to cut the entire back side of my tree off. This has cost me a liability because this tree is over my swimming pool and the tree is now lop sided. I do not want them to come onto my property again and touch anything of mine. Including my tree. I want reimbursement for my insurance on my pool. If that tree falls on it I will have to have to have someone clean it up and buy a new pool and new tree. I want reimbursement for a pool cleaner I have to buy now, Because of all the bugs and garbage falling into my pool now that all the weight and limbs are on one side. The longest I can now only keep it clean now is only 1 day and that is cleaning it every day now. They took something that was enjoyable and relaxing and made it the complete opposite. I use that pool for therapeutic purposes for my arm and now cleaning it every day manually has caused issues with my arm. I was nice to the workers, and this is what I get in return - Complete disrespect and taken advantage of as a woman. I am extremely upset and horrified by what they did to my tree. He even had the nerve to say to me that it is now more structurally stable, which is lying to my face and treating me like I am stupid. While half laughing, he said well just think now you wont have to have anyone come out here next year to trim it. When I asked him to stop cutting it, he then had the guy in the tree cut three more limbs that are on the side front of the tree, which there was no reason for. Was that just spite? I was even nice when I asked him to stop. I dint go out yelling, cursing, or screaming. I was taken advantage of as a woman because he would not have said the same things or did this to aInitial Complaint

Approximately 2-3 weeks ago, Asplundh Tree Company removed limbs from trees on our property to clear the electric lines owned by **** Power. They cleaned up part of the cut off limbs, but left the rest. We have contacted ***** Power, but they said it is not their problem because they contracted the work out to Asplundh. We contacted Asplundh several times and left messages, but we have received no response from them to date. We talked to the workers in the area, and they have assured us they will be back, but have not given us a time line to expect this done. We have only been told that it will require different equipment. Neither my husband or myself is physically or financially capable of cleaning this mess up. I am sending pictures of the mess on our property.
