I signed up for trash pick up with Capital Waste and my bins were dropped off at my house. My first scheduled pick up with recycling was scheduled for January 9. It has not been picked up since. I have called them 5 times and the issue has not been resolved. I was told they would send out a truck for a courtesy pickup.....instead a truck dropped off another recycling bin that i had not requested. I had to call them back to let them know that i did not order this bin and for them not to charge me for this. Trash has still not been picked up to this day. 1/24/23
I called this morning and requested to speak with the manger. She was not available. I again told the customer service rep that my trash was still not picked up, that my bins have been by the road for a week, and asked if they would be picked up this week. She could not answer my questions and stated the exact same thing that i have been told with every single previous call : "my manger isn't available, Im so sorry about this, i will let my manger know. " I have yet to get my trash picked up and i have not received a call from the manager.
I did let the rep know that if i did not get a return call but the end of business today that i would be cancelling my contract. I then told her that i would also need a full refund since i have never had my trash removed and she said she would have to ask her manager. I asked her if i cancelled service would the truck come and pick up my bins and she stated they would. I told her they were full of trash and if that was the only way to get the trash removed then i would most likely be cancelling my service tomorrow.
When we first moved to Chapin about 14 yrs ago we also signed up for trash pick up with this company ( i think it was under different management) the same thing happened...our trash was never picked up. Decided to give them another chance and they failed tremendously yet again.
This is a huge problem that needs to be fixed!!!Business Response

1/9 - Recycling was not picked up. I called 3 different numbers and waited online for a long time to only be able to leave a message. No replies from the messages.
1/23 - Recycling was not picked up. I called again and had to wait on hold to then only be able to leave a message. No reply to my message. Recycling is picked up every other week.
By the time they return in 2 more weeks (if they pick it up) we will have a month's worth of sustainable efforts. These efforts are going down the drain or to the dump, since we need the service that we have paid for to be done by Capital Waste in Columbia, SC.
After looking on Nextdoor for our neighborhood there are almost 50 others that have been having issues with this same company for services.
Our regular trash is being picked up weekly, but not our recycling.
We all should care about our environment and our customers. Please have them pick up our recycling.Business Response

Capital Waste services has been a total disappointment since I signed on with them. The trash was never picked up on a decent schedule. Some people on my same street would get picked up at times and, they would drive right past my can and, not empty mine on several occasions. I would have to repeatedly call over and, over and leave messages and tickets and resort to management before any satisfaction was given. Weeks at a time would go by and, they would claim to come within 24 hours and never did. Finally I am now writing this because for the last three weeks no one will now pick up the phone at all when I call. No one will return my calls, messages by voice mail, messages by ********. I want the can removed for non pick up for weeks and, cannot discontinue service for lack of being able to get anyone. I do not want to continue to get charged for a service I do not get and, cannot find a way to discontinue for lack of customer service.Initial Complaint

I cancelled services with CWS due to poor customer service. I waited over a month for them to replace a can due to a drunk driver destroying mine. They didn't pick up trash 2 weeks in a row. It is nearly impossible to get them on the phone (social media post prove this).
It's now been over two weeks after cancellation and their can is still in my yard. I have contacted multiple times and been told they will get it Wed or even told "they'll get it today" only for them to never pick the can up. This is a concern as there have been reports where they continue to charge people as long as they have the can.
I've waited 3 weeks and attempted to resolve this issue with CWS; however, they clearly don't take it seriously and consider it a form of "free advertising" to have their can in everyone's yard as there are numerous complaints on ******** about this exact issue.
I'd like the BBB to assist with ensuring the can gets picked up and/or I am given permission to do as I see fit with the can since CWS refuses to take action and pick up their personal belongings. Considering their obvious purpose of obtaining free advertising I would also like a refund for the last quarter as they are not picking up their equipment or returning phone calls.Business Response

I placed the order yesterday and it was picked up today. His refund of

Better Business Bureau:Although the reply makes it seem like it was an easy process it most definitely was not. It took weeks to get any reply, took filing this and calling parent company to get any traction. This has been resolved but definitely not thanks to CWS, who can’t get anything in order over there based on personal experience as well as online forums.

On Nov.28 2022 the amount of $120.00 wss paid for 6 months of residential weekly garbage pick up.On account # **********
I have called numerous times leaving messages to be called back regarding lack of service We have only had our garbage picked up twice since December. I WANT THE ABANDONED DUMPSTER REMOVED AND SERVICE CANCELLED!!
Started a contract in aug 2021 never receive a bill or trash pickup, only a collection notice in May2022.
Contacted them May 2022 paid $793, they agreed to price match service for $75mo. Stop paying in June 2022 because they refused to correct the rate to 75, they also stoped trash pick up. December 13 2022 I contacted to cancel but they refused to cancel or remove dumper, they corrected the rate to 75 but I don't want service from these scamers. Jan 2023 still ignore my calls, hang up on me, anything to keep from actually canceling my service.
I do not consent to a dumpster being on my property and I will personally drop it off in their parking lot if they don't remove it themselves soon, I will sue if I'm injured in the process of moving it. They are aware i will move it if continue to abandon it on my property It's been sitting on unpaid for since June needed to be removed.
They are awful, rude, will route the call to a never available person. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE!Business Response

Recycling was picked up as scheduled on Tuesday, 12/13.
They did not come on our street on Tuesday 12/27. I just assumed that they were a bit behind because of Christmas. So, I waited a couple of days.
Called them on Thursday 12/29. Never could get anyone to answer the phone. After multiple tries, finally left them a voice mail.
No response, so called again on Friday 12/30. Same as before. Multiple tries to get someone, and finally left a voice mail.
No response, so called again on Monday, 1/2. FINALLY got someone. She apologized and said that she was writing a ticket to get it picked up in the next 24-48 hours.
Nothing happened, so I called again on 1/4. Spoke with a lady who said that she was "escalating" it to management, and it would be taken care of.
Nothing happened. Tuesday 1/10 was our normal recycling day. They did not come to our street again.
I called 1/11. Finally got someone on the line. She said that she would escalate it to a manager. I said NO, I want to speak with a manager. She got the manager on the phone...and the three of us discussed it. The manager thanked me for my patience and assured me that it would be taken care of PRONTO.
No one had come by Friday afternoon, 1/13, so I called and reached a lady. She said that the trucks were out Friday and Saturday "catching up."
No one ever came and it is now 1/14. My street's recycling has not been picked up since 12/13.
These people ALSO often go ahead and throw the recycling in with the trash pick up...same truck!!!! I suppose to help the recycling guys who are "behind." This is VERY disturbing that we go to the trouble of separating out recycling...only to have it thrown in with the garbage pickup..Business Response

Just spoke with customer since he filed complaint, he states
CWS has been consistent in collections of his waste and recycling. He would
like to see it continue and he clarified that his recycling is being picked up
by the recycling truck and not by the trash truck however this was the case a
few months ago. I am giving him a credit of one month on his missed
recycling. I provided him with my office number so that I could quickly
respond to his request if in the future he has additional concerns he needs

Trash is suppose to be picked up every Monday. Recycle garbage is suppose to be picked up every other Monday. They are always late sometimes until the next week. They often leave garbage on the ground and leave garbage cans partially full. We pay 82 every quarter for inconsistent service.Business Response

I live in ********** ******* in Chapin, SC. Capital Waste consistently fails to pick-up garbage, recycling, and yard waste. This week, garbage was not picked up in half the neighborhood and yard waste has yet to be picked up. Yard waste typically sits on the road for 2 weeks before it is picked up. This is very unsightly and causes a mess, especially when yard waste is placed in recylable paper bags.
Garbage and yard waste is to be picked up every Monday with recylcing also being picked up every other Monday. It has been many months since Capital Waste has adhered to the schedule for which I and many others are paying. I've called Capital Waste at 803-814-0040, but I can never get anyone to answer. I'm forced to leave a message and have yet to get a return call.
I'm tired of seeing garbage, recyclables and yard waste pile up. It is not only unsightly, but unsanitary. I'm also tired of paying for a service that I'm not receiving. Capital Waste owes its customers refunds. They are contracted through Lexington County, South Carolina. Complaints have also been filed through them. The issue has gotten out of hand. My hope is that filing complaints through the BBB will force Capital Waste to make much needed changes.Initial Complaint

Ongoing problems with trash, recycling and yard trash pickup. When contacting the company - it goes directly to a recorded message asking you to hold. After several mins of waiting, it then goes to voicemail. Our pickup day is on Monday and as of today (Friday) nothing has been picked up (except recycling - which was done on Monday).
