World Finance Corporation (PO Box **** Greenville SC 29607) has closed my account/written off debt. But continuously keeps reporting that I owe a balance to them. Trying to tank my credit score on purpose this has been going on since 2019. I initially borrowed $300-$400 now they are saying I owe them in the amount of $3,301. I am currently in bankrupcty they are fully aware that I am and yet still keeps trying to sabotage my credit score on purpose. They have even went so far to check my credit score without my permission. My discharge date is 1/17/23 if this continues I will have no choice but to pursue legal action against this company. For being in violation with the FDCPA. They are fully aware of what they are doing, and I fear that they maybe doing it to other consumers.Business Response

Dear Ms. R*****:
This letter is in response to the above-referenced complaint filed with your office on January 06, 2023. The
allegations of the complaint have been investigated.
Ms. ******* obtained her account from our ****** ***, WI office on July 02, 2019, in the amount of $770.00 and
agreed to repay it in (10) monthly installments of $77.00 beginning August 02, 2019. No payments were made on
the account and the date of first delinquency is listed as October 31, 2019. The account was charged-off due to non-
payment on February 25, 2020. The account was coded on September 28, 2021, for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and the
dismissal of that case was coded for February 10, 2022. The account has since been coded into a new Chapter 7
bankruptcy case on October 14, 2022.
World is furnishing Ms. *******’s account to the credit reporting agencies (“Agencies”) as being in a Chapter 7
bankruptcy. While Ms. *******’s account is in bankruptcy status the account does not accrue interest on the unpaid
balance and is only subject to the amounts that were showing, as of the date of petition on October 14,2022. Please
note that the after the first Chapter 7 case was dismissed all interest was applied back to Ms. *******’s account
according to the terms of her loan agreement.
Based on the review of the account, the information reported to the Agencies is correct and according to industry
standards.
Sincerely,

My taxes were prepared by Debra *** B****** on February 1, 2022. After personally reviewing the forms March, I noticed that she had entered my W2 numbers incorrectly. Box 3#'s were put into Box 4 and Box 4#'s were put into Box 3. I then called the IRS and the rep confirmed the errors. I called Debra immediately after and she said she'd look over my return. By the end of the next following week- 12th of March, I still hadn't heard from her so I went in person on March 14. Immediately when I sat down, she confirmed that she saw the errors she made the week prior. I then said, so you weren't going to call me to come in to fix it and she replied that she had been busy. Since submitting the amendment, I called the IRS to get an update and they said they had sent out two letters in which I never received. The rep read them to me over the phone. My refund was sent to World Finance on October 21st and they took the $3000 advance out on October 25th. I called on October 28th to personally come in and pick my tax funds up by check but was told by Melissa that it was not there. She said Debra was out for two weeks for surgery and to call back then. I called and was told their checks expired after October 31 of every year and that I need to reach out to ***, their third party who issues checks after the expiration date. I signed a form on November 16 to have it sent by mail and should've been received within 7-10 business days but never came. I called *** several times and the last Rep I spoke with on December 6 said I should've received it no later than December 2. Someone changed my zip code so I have no access to speak with *** Rep. I was sent another form on December 12 by Allen @Rossville GA to reissue check to be sent to supervisor Tonya at the Cummings GA location but still nothing. I have a personal loan I was pl***ing to pay off in full but the account has been sent to collections December 2 which will cost me my entire refund. Seeking Legal Counsel.Business Response

I am receiving harassment from World Financial Services located at **** *** ***, suite * *********, Ga 30014 branch office (Manager Cathy@************). I have reached out to her and she is demeaning, forceful, threatening and uncooperative which led her to trying to take money from a debit card without my authorization. I have tried in an amicable manner to keep her updated on the circumstances involving me having a financial crash after being an outstanding customer for years, but response remains the same: you don’t want to mess with me about this unpaid bill you owe. I have tried to resolve this issue in many ways even reaching out to the Better Business Bureau who informed me the debt was cleared by Her branch Manager and no account was found. I am dealing with husband health and surgery and hospitalizations even to include Covid and evictions from residence and lost of job and had to restart. She has also reached out to contacts in my phone and made them very uncomfortable. The forced debit transaction can be verified. Also checked the payoff that shows a substantial increase. This has to stop and should not continue. This is lawlessness and through no fault of my own but unfortunate circumstances.Customer Answer

Customer: ******* ******
Complaint ID: ********
Dear Ms. R*****:
This letter is in response to the above-referenced complaint filed with your office on November 15, 2022. The
allegations of the complaint have been investigated.
This is the second BBB complaint World has received from Ms. ******.
In her current complaint Mr. ****** states that she was a victim of Identity Theft. World requested additional
information to be able to investigate Ms. ******’s claim of identity theft. Ms. ****** included a Federal Trade
Commission ("FTC") Identity Theft Report with her current complaint. In a previous complaint Ms. ****** also
provided her driver’s license. World needs one more additional document in order to investigate Ms. ******’s
identity theft complaint:
1. Signed Police Report stating ID Theft
As such, our investigation will include, but not be limited to, contacting the issuing Police or Sherriff’s
Department to confirm their representation of the submitted materials.
Please mail these documents to the following address so that we may investigate.
