I had filled out payday loan requests online. I was then contacted by someone who was claiming to be Advance America on 8/28/2024. They said I was approved for a payday loan of $1500. They sent me an email with a supposed to be application where it asked the last 4 of my social and online banking info to verify. I filled it out and they sent me another email with the "loan agreement". I then talked to the "agent" on an actual phone call who told me I had to talk to his manager and he would be calling me. The manager named "Mike Bush" with phone number *** *** ****. He told me I had to complete a verification process where they would deposit a small amount then I send it back and then I would get the full $1500 deposited into my account. He wanted it via cash app but it wouldn't work so I purchased a gift card and sent it to him. I should have seen the signs that this wasn't normal. my bank was then charged another 499.00 and left me negative. I contacted the bank who said this was a scam. It is being investigated but I'm still negative. I tried contacting the number again but no answer.

thoroughly reviewed and appreciate the opportunity to respond.

In the complaint, **** ******* contends they requested a loan
online and was approached by “Priority Loan Servicing” who requested personal
information. **** contends they were instructed they would be sent a small verification
deposit and they would need to send it back via a gift card to receive the full
loan amount.  **** attached the loan
agreement from “Priority Loan Servicing” and texts with their complaint.

According to our records, **** entered into a Customer Loan
Agreement (“Agreement”) with Advance America on December 23, 2021. Pursuant to
the Agreement, **** agreed to repay an amount of one thousand sixty-two dollars

I got loan from Advance t in the amount of $700. I was wondering why my payments were not going down and has remained at $467 for 4 months and no money was being paid on the lt. It stayed at over $500 for months.I called and talked to a customer service.represenative., and was told the money was going to pay interest and not to loan. . I got him twas ilo, that O was going to file a complaint, he told me to go to ahead.I will never be able to get this paid off, because only a couple of dollars are being applied to the loan, and have been paying for months.

      Dear Cindy:

      Advance America, Cash Advance
Centers of South Carolina, Inc. (“Advance
America”), is in receipt of a complaint filed by ********* *****. We have
thoroughly reviewed and appreciate the opportunity to respond.

      In the complaint, ********* ***** contends they got a loan;
however, payments are not decreasing the principal balance as they expected. ********* contends they spoke with someone at Advance America who responded
that the monthly payment was going to interest and not to the principal
balance. ********* states, “I will never be able to get this paid off, because
only a couple of dollars are being applied to the loan, and (sic) have been
      paying for months.”

According to our records, ********* entered into a Consumer Line
of Credit Agreement (“Agreement”) with the Advance America storefront located
      at **** **** ** Boiling Springs, SC, 29316 on June 14, 2023. ********* was
approved to make draws of up to one thousand four hundred forty dollars ($1440).
On June 14, 2023, ********* requested and received a draw of three hundred
dollars ($300). Since requesting and receiving the loan, ********* has paid as
agreed and has also continued to request and receive draws. As of today,
September 13, 2024, ********* has a currently balance of three hundred
      eighty-nine dollars and sixty-seven dollars ($389.67).

Regarding *********** complaint about their monthly payment, we
want to clarify that the Line of Credit Agreement was provided and thoroughly
explained before ********* signed the Agreement. The Agreement clearly outlined
how fees and the balance were calculated, as well as details about the minimum
payment due. Additionally, on the call ********* is referring to, the agent
mentioned the majority of the minimum payment is going towards interest. The
monthly statement shows the breakdown for reference.

In addition to the Agreement, ********* is supplied with a
monthly statement that contains the minimum payment due along with how much of
the minimum payment is credited to principal and interest.  Furthermore, the statement notifies *********
that if they only pay the minimum payment, the amount of interest owed over the
life of the loan could increase as well as the time it takes to repay their
balance. If ********* wants to reduce their monthly payment, they could
consider paying more than the minimum amount due each month. If they have
further questions, they may contact the branch where they originated their loan
or contact the Customer Service Team at ***** *********

I was contacted by this company on August 15, 2024 about an online loan for 2000 dollars. They deposited money to my ***** bank account for 500 dollars then asked me to send it back to show the validity of said account. I then sent it back. When doing so they deposited 1000 dollars into my ***** ***** account. Then the next morning they deposited 500 dollars to my ***** account. After speaking to other bankers I immediately withdrew the money from my ***** account. I closed that account this morning and changed the account number(checking). I closed my ***** ***** account yesterday and spoke to a ***** ***** banker and a ***** banker and they both agreed that it sounded like fraud. I spoke to ***** ***** fraud dept today and they also agreed that it sounded like fraud. The company in question sent me several text messages threatening me that they will send a form to my bank to close my account. After speaking to both banks I was told they cannot close my accounts and they would have to take me to court. The accounts manager sent a text about 1 hour ago saying if I don't pay him the 1000 dollars by today, my account will be closed by Monday. As stated earlier I talked to both banks and they said I am the only one who can open or close any accounts. Actually the text came in at 1042 am est his closing words were "am **** sure about it." I did tell him he would get the money in two installments but he declined. If the loan was for 2000 dollars and you already sent me 1500 dollars, why can't you send me 500 more and it will be 2000 and I would honor the original contract. There was no online loan agreement for me to sign so I can download it to a file on my phone. I am currently dealing with two other loan companies and they are trying to work with me. I don't understand why should I send them back the money when they already deposited the money in my account. I am willing to pay it back but it would take about 3 weeks.

After I was “approved” I was told I needed to pay an insurance on the loan (that would be fronted by the company) and to raise my credit score, they would deposit it into my account and I would either take the money and put it into ******* and buy ******* or would be instructed to buy a prepaid gift card or ***** gift card. My bank informed me that the deposits into my account were made with fraudulent checks and I had been scammed.

Advance America has been emailing me harassing me and threatening me with a lawsuit when I have told them numerous times that I didn't get a loan from this company and to stop contacting me. My **** checking account was closed because of Advance America and therefore it is impossible that a loan was deposited into my checking account because my account was already closed. I have responded to these emails from Advance America telling them that I don't owe them money and to stop harassing me and they continue to contact me anyways. They keep emailing me saying they are going to sue me when I don't owe this company money. Kevin W**** continues to harass me and threaten me and althen a new employee named Tiffany emailed me and I told her that I don't owe this company money and a few minutes later Kevin W**** contacts me again harassing me. I didn't get a loan deposited from this company and I don't understand why they continue to harass me and threaten me telling me that they're going to serve me with a court summons about a loan I don't owe. I don't want this company contacting me anymore.

On 8/6/2024 I submitted requests for a $1000 loan via on-line search, I received a call/text from a Mrs. Sophia from American Advance , she informed me that , “You will receive a call from Mr Mike (714-845-7224) in 15 minutes ”
I was in negotiations of the loan process where Mr. Mike says that American Advance had deposited funds in my account in the amount adding to $500 and he would send me the information to send that back , at which time they would send me the requested $1000. In the process of my asking why would they just not send what they approved me for my chase bank calls , I asked the representative Mr. Mike to hold , the bank rep. says they detected fraudulent activity on my account, Mr. Mike did not hold he hung up and began to text me threatening message saying that I stole money from them and they we’re sending someone to my home. Then the original representative Ms. Sophia text me saying that it was being said throughout her office that I stole money from Mr. Mike.
I’m not sure what happened but the initial deposit said $270.01 for three deposits which should have equaled $810.03, but it only balances in my account at $500.
Well my bank deemed it fraud as returned by bank as altered fraud. Resulting in my account being overdrawn $310.03 .
