Carolina Waste has failed to pick up my yard waste for 8 weeks in a row. I have called multiple times over the last few weeks as well as submitted online requests for someone to come and pick up my yard waste. This is a service that I pay for and that I am not getting.Business Response

Yard waste bags were used improperly. Yard waste bags are for grass clippings and leaves, not dirt. A supervisor will be out to pick them up since the customer may not be aware.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
The supervisor and multiple customer service reps stated that it was fine to put mulch in the yard waste bags. It is going on 9 weeks that my yard waste hasn't been picked up. I've had to rebag the yard waste multiple times due to the rain ruining the bags. This has been extremely frustrating.

Carolina Waste is the only trash removal provider for my address. I have contracted with Carolina Waste for weekly trash removal, on Thursdays, of two trash bins. In addition, my service includes the pickup of lawn and leaf bags as well as bulk trash pickup when scheduled.
On April 26th, I contacted Carolina Waste for bulk pickup the next day and also let them know I would have lawn and leaf bags out. Neither were collected. After multiple calls, the bulk items were finally collected on May 8th. The lawn and leaf bags have still not been picked up now 21 days later.
Then, last week, Carolina Waste also dumped only one of my two trash bins. So now, it is May 17th, and there are lawn and leaf bags falling apart with the contents spilling out on the road as a result of the many rains over the past 3 plus weeks, plus two full trash bins.
I have called Carolina Waste 15 times, which I have documented. I have left voice mails for supervisors. I have emailed customer service. I have submitted work orders. The trash is still there and not a single supervisor has returned my calls.
Not only is Carolina Waste failing to meet the terms of our contract, they are creating a public health and safety issue for me and my neighbors. I will also note that currently they have also missed pickups for several other houses on my street, so there are bulk pickup piles, trash cans, and lawn and leaf bags littering every curb.
I will not only be filing this complaint with the BBB, but also with Berkeley County and my POA.Business Response

April 6, 2023 was my pick up day for garbage, it was not picked up. I called that afternoon and followed prompts for missed pick up. Called April 7, that morning, I was told the route was not finished on Thursday and they would be out today (Friday) to finish and pick up my cans. By about 3:30-4:00 called spoke to Joyce, she said she would put in a missed pickup to be picked up on Saturday, incase they didn’t pick it up Friday afternoon. No one showed Saturday. I called Monday morning spoke to someone who said they were sending the message of missed pick up again and possibly they may have sent something to Michael the manager that handles complaints. I am so tired of having to contact this company for missed pickups. This is not the first time it has happened, it has happened several times. I pay my bill, I want my garbage picked up on the day it is supposed to be.Business Response

1 week ago, March 27, I scheduled a bulk pickup of a king size mattress. Germaine was very helpful when scheduling this pickup for Thursday, March 30th. She informed me that " bulk pickup is one of the services that I pay for".
Thursday came and my trash was picked up but the mattress was not. I called and let them know. I was told that a " missed pickup " had been filed and they would be there " first thing in the morning", Friday. As of noon on Friday the mattress was still here. Again, I was told to call back at 4 pm to report ANOTHER missed pickup. I did this as it was NOT picked up yet. I spoke with Bridget at this time and told her i wanted to file a formal complaint, she went to her supervisor and was told to let me know that they would "definitely " be there on Monday, April 3rd.
AGAIN, they were NOT here and I called at noon again and got Germaine again on the phone and told her about ALL of the
" missed" pickups and she then transferred me to her supervisor "Zack" and promised he would pick up. He did NOT so I left a message and my cell # for a return call which I have not gotten.
This king size mattress has been sitting in my driveway for over a week now and has become the joke of the street.
The message you hear while holding when you call states " they strive for 100% customer satifaction" and if " you have ways we can improve our service please let us know". BOTH of these are FALSE statements as I feel like they don't stand behind what I was told I am paying for as part of my service. I felt I had no other avenues of contact except to file a complaint with the BBB.Business Response

This company, Carolina Waste Company of Berkeley County has the most rude, disrespect employees that DO NOT adhere to their customers service dates! I have been waiting for a manager to call me back for days now and no one has. I put in a request for a yard waste pick up order and the person they sent out to do the order LEFT most of the bags!! After I've waited a week for them to come and pick them up, he leaves! I keep trying to reach someone in management only to be told that they have to send an email and that typically takes a day to respond! I am in the process of selling my home and I have to deal with this when my trash is supposed to be picked up on time! The yard waste is still here and has been here for over a week! I have reported this issue multiple times and nothing has happened. This is by far one of the worst companies that are not adhering to their customers needs!Business Response

I am a disabled Veteran. I have 9 screws in my ankle and I am scheduled for a knee replacement surgery. Carolina Waste Management is okay that their team members deliberately place our garbage cans in the driveway so we have to get out of our cars to move them before pulling into the driveway. This is an ongoing problem. It has happened on Friday August 5th 2022, Friday September 2nd 2022 and Friday November 18th 2022. It is painful for me to get in and out of a car. I have explained that to them however it continues to happen. If you look at reviews of Carolina Waste Management on the internet other people are complaining about the same thing. We all have pictures. I am honored to serve my county to give these clowns the freedom to disrespect the Veteran community. If they cared they would stop being A??????S. Also the disabled community suffers from business like this. It is just evil people starting from the CEO. The managers don't have control of this company. The employees run this company and don't care for nothing but a paycheck. The CEO is clueless. He got his money worth from college. I guess I should consider myself lucky, they didn't do it in October. They claim they give good customer service but that is false advertising. A better claim is "We screw our customers and like it." Unfortunately this contract it controlled by Berkeley County so we can't go to another vender. It's either put up with this crap or take your trash to the dump. What an option.Business Response

Good morning,
We have before and after photo's 11/18 to show that our employees are putting
the can back in the exact location the customer had left it and not blocking
the driver. Not only are his claims about can placement inaccurate, but his
claims of our company also not caring about veterans or disabled vets 100%
inaccurate! We as a company locally are involved in multiple Veteran’s
initiatives. We are proud to say that we have a decent number of employees that
have honorably served, including myself and the supervisor responsible for
overseeing the Berkeley County contract. When you read the BBB claim Mr. *****
had sent to us, his desired resolution is a “credit”. There is no mention of
his can being placed in a specific spot due to his physical limitations. I
would also like to mention that his last bill payment was 5/22/22 and we are
still servicing his cans and yard debris. Please let us know if you would like

I've only had service with Carolina Waste for 1 month, and I have already had to call multiple times every week I have had service. In the beginning they were delayed with delivering our Trash bins by 2 weeks, but now they are a day late and often multiple days late in picking up the bulk pickup. I shouldn't have to call my trash company every week. Unfortunately there aren't any other options for trash pick up, otherwise I would have switched. The customer service ladies have been awesome, however the trash service itself has been horrible.Business Response

On 7/21/22 I put my recycling and trash bin curbside for 7/22/22 pickup. The trash was picked up by 7am and the recycling was not picked up at all. By 9am, my nine neighbors recycling was picked up. I called customer service to complain and they said they don't know if the truck is still in the area to come back to my house. I said it doesn't make sense. My can was outside last night and skipped.
