Wish I could give a zero star. Legacybox is the worst company to use for any form of digitizing. Never do they give you a warning that if you need to cancel or change your mind, there is NO REFUND. Had planned on converting 5 VHS of a friends and purchased the "box". She fell shortly after I ordered and is now in a nursing home with no way to watch. Customer service is useless. Got the run around about their policies are on the website. They are not easily found....and why would they be. It is easier to run a scam business and take people's money than to do the right thing. There are 2 much better companies out there....one begins with Shut..... and the other begins with dig....STIR CLEAR OF LEGACYBOX AT ALL COST!!!!

Horrible quality. Horrendous customer service. Buyer beware! Sent a dozen British VHS tapes. They would not touch two (no refund) and then transferred wrong format crap for the others. Refused a refund and blamed poor quality tapes. And, do not operate under real company name on BBB so people can’t complain.

Back in September of 2023, I placed an order to have two PAL-region VHS tapes converted to NTSC and digitized. Not only did they take almost double the promised time, they also did not convert my tapes into the proper region (distortion in sound and picture) which suggests to me that they do not have any quality assurance measures, but only 2 of the 6 provided DVDs had any content on it. The rest were blank.
I e-mailed them to see if I could be refunded to no avail. They did not answer their phones either.

A complete waste of time and significant money; I placed an order to convert 19 tapes for $316 on January 21, 2024, and when I finally received my tapes and data on June 6, 2024 (almost five months later), they were able to convert only 5 of them. The remainder they slapped a sticker on saying there was mold on the tapes. They offered no refund, and no warning other than an email just before the tapes were shipped back that "one or more tapes" were unable to be converted. They also chucked the tapes back into random boxes rather than the ones they were sent in, so now I have no idea what several of the tapes are. I'm moving on to a reputable service that offers mold remediation AND digitization, and am considering my original $316 a lesson in caveat emptor; if Southtree d/b/a LegacyBox had included ANY warning to check tapes for mold before sending them in, I would have known in advance that they were the wrong service to use, but then I wouldn't have paid them $316, so whyever would they possibly do that?

I've placed five different orders through Southtree/Legacy Box. This last order arrived at their facility in February, and I expected to have it in time for a June family reunion. After contacting them and talking to customer service, it appears that they are running behind. As another reviewer stated, Southtree over-promised. It will be disappointing to not have the materials in time.

LegacyBox over promises and under delivers. The DVDs are of terrible quality. There was an extended amount of time to return my items (mailed in October and returned to me in March). Two DVDs were not included in my return and many emails and days later they refuse to refund me but claim they will send replacements to me. I am not hopeful that they are truthful about following through with that. Utilizing this company for such an important service was a waste of time and money, with resultant terrible quality of media transfers. It's amusing that their business model will always blame the technology for the outcome, as in VHS tapes may not transfer to DVD well, and this blame seems very much in line with how they approach their customers as well. It is never LegacyBox's fault that their work is terrible and that their approach to customer service is equally terrible. Blaming the customer seems to be of utmost importance to them. I wish I had used any other company to transfer important memories to DVDs. I would never recommend this company to anyone. I never write reviews like this, but this experience was terrible enough for me to do so.

The service promises this: "Our team of professionals will digitize every item, by hand, with personalized updates provided at each step of the digitizing process"
    Here's what happened:
    1. 5 months of waiting for my order to be finished.
    2. Spamming my phone repeatedly with ads.
    3. Only updates I received were: "Hi STEVEN, We wanted to provide a quick update! Your order is still safe at our secure processing facility. Our team is excited to get to work on your order. Due to the nature of our process, the typical amount of time an order is in our facility can vary. We want to assure you that our team is hard at work, doing everything we can to get your order completed and back to you as soon as possible!
But then...I get my order delivered. And there was no "digitization by hand"! All they did was press play on my VHS tapes, and record on whatever machine they use.
I got back 27 files. And almost all of them had hours and hours of BLANK footage. I especially noticed on VHS tapes where I had a 30 second commercial from my acting days, followed by 6 hours of blank footage.
Oh and some tapes they would not transfer due to adult content? BUT I did receive files back with adult content, only when the content did not appear at the beginning of the VHS tapes.
So, they clearly have a process of loading tapes, letting them play, and then transferring them to a digital format.
And I paid 950 bucks for transferring 27 tapes, and it takes 5 months??!! Another BS service.

Worst company I have ever done business with and I am not being over dramatic. How do they rate an A at the BBB?! Because they respond to complaints?! That is BS! They always fall back on “estimated processing times” and “multiple orders with a small team” but the truth is that they are terrible at what they do. The 1 star from every customer proves this. I put in an order on Nov 19, 2023 and it is now March 22, 2024 and nothing of mine has been processed. It wasn’t just tapes that I wanted digitized, they had a very specific reason for being done this month as it was footage from Iraq and this marks my unit’s 20th anniversary. I had big plans for getting this unseen footage out to my guys but Southtree screwed it all up.

Do not use them. I wish we had never sent our videos to them. They are inappropriately slow; a 10-12 week order has taken five months, going on six. We are considering legal action.

DO NOT USE LEGACYBOX to scan your photos. I ordered the Legacybox for 5,000 photos. I packaged all my photos exactly as instructed. When I received my photos back, the box the photos had been returned in was practically destroyed. The 5,000 photos had just been thrown into the shipping box with very little to protect them. The bags I sent them in (Legacy bags) were not sealed shut. They were not put into any other box for protection except the shipping box. Many of my pictures had damaged corners when returned. Do you want your memories treated like trash? In addition, when I called LegacyBox to speak with a manager/supervisor, I was told I had to wait for a call back and that they don’t make calls after 5. I teach and don’t take calls during class time, so I asked for a call back at 11 AM during my prep. The call never came. I called Legacybox again. I was given another time that the supervisor would try to call me by…the call never came. Finally got a call back. In my opinion, the lady that called me really could have cared less. Every department at Legacybox dropped the ball….scanning, shipping, customer service, supervisor, manager.
