Two of my current roommates have been residents at a MAA ******* area location last year, and while there were numerous problems with maintenance and insects (a centipede infestation), they figured it was related to being located in a closely wooded area and decided to stay with MAA and change their lease to a new unit in the complex, adding me on as a third roommate. From the beginning of the application process, one of the leasing agents was unbelievably rude and acted as though assisting us was an inconvenience. I understand some people have bad days, so I put this experience on the back burner and continued on with the application process. Later, two weeks before our move-in date, we get an email from said leasing agent saying we needed our guarantor application or we wouldn't qualify for this new apartment. Our guarantor had sent their application MONTHS prior, and the leasing agent failed to recognize this, acting as if this issue was OUR fault. Once that was resolved and we approached our move-in date, our leasing agent was no where to be found. No welcome letter, no mailbox information, and most importantly, no lease to sign. They've chosen to leave us and their coworkers in the dark entirely. I'd love the opportunity to speak with someone in MAA directly about this experience, as I have additional, more concerning information that leads me to believe that we received this treatment unjustly based on this particular leasing agent's personal beliefs.

The neighborhood is nice and so are the residents. I lived in the community previously for 5 years and then another 1 currently and signed a new lease effective tomorrow to move in a bigger unit. When I moved in a year ago I complained about blinds, they were never replaced. My tub was to be upgraded as its molded and extremely slick and it never was until 2 weeks before my schedule move. There was a leak upstairs that left the ceiling in the bedroom, bathroom and closet discolored in spots, I was informed that the dry wall people would be contacted and it repaired, that was 4 months ago. So i'm transferring to a bigger unit as we need more space. I called today to get the status on everything and Jessica in the office acted as if she had no clue I was moving. Once she remembered she stated she was going up to the apartment do an assessment and then would come and do a walkthrough of my unit by end of day. After not hearing back I went up to voice my concerns in the office and was encountered by manager Charlene. She rudely said you won't see the unit until after we do. I asked for number for corporate and video recorded the interaction as she proceeded to speak to me like a child and cut me off. I called back as it neared closing asking for status update on my move, I left a vm. I also left a google review of how Charlene treated me, and there are several others on there as well speaking of how she acts. Fifteen minutes after leaving vm, I receive a notice in my door saying I violated policy by speaking rudely to an employee and I can only communicate with management moving forward by writing and anymore instances my lease will be immediately terminated. This was clear retaliation of my review as I didn't say anything wrong or act out of character. I still have no info on my move tomorrow but I have a signed lease that starts tomorrow. Corporate will not return any calls. They responded to an email, once I said the issue, they stopped responding.

the property manager (Tiniki )promised to offer us a free carpet cleaning when we vacate the apartment. However, after we moved out, she did not clean the carpet as she promised, instead, she replaced the carpet and sent us a bill. FYI, our carpet was not damaged, but only shows signs of normal tear and wear. We asked her to show us the proof of the carpet cleaning and told her if the professionals confirmed the dirt could not be cleaned, we would like to pay the expenses. She did not reply our emails ever since then, so we complained to MAA and got her feedback. Finally, she admitted she did not clean the carpet but still insisted that the carpet could not be cleaned.
My husband and I had been living at**************** for 4 years, it was all good until they changed their manager. It took them 3 months to replace my dead washer because they forgot it completely. Maintenance worker had come to my apartment 3 times to fix the leaking water from my bathroom ceiling. I told them to take a look at whether my ceiling is still ok or any mold grown in the wall because my neighbor's apartment upstairs was flooded. They just literally "took a look" and told me it was fine without any inspections. Good luck to someone who's living in that apartment. I reported my AC's down two months ago, the worker came and replaced the fan and after two weeks, it was down again. I asked the person who entering my apartment to wear shoe covers and a mask, but they'll still show up at our door with slippers and no masks fully covered their mouth and nose.
The manager will always say she works diligently to solve your issue, but when you need her, she will ignore your requests and refuse to write back to you. On April 4, 2022, I wrote her an email and politely inquiring our estimated rate for renewal, she told me she would have a renewal call on April 19th and she'll get back to me then. On April 20, I reminded her of this, she told me to wait till the next day. On April 21, I wrote her a let

Not worth wasting your hard work, time and energy working here. This company pretends to have core values and appreciate its employees, yet doesnt give the necessary support needed to run operations successfully. After my manager left the company, I had to take on her work load without any help from corporate. The regional manager came maybe once a week for 2 hours. Everything was left for me to fit into my already stacked schedule, and when I got stressed and cursed in an email, they fired me. In my 3 years, I never had acting in such a way. A high level of stress will do that, and they never acknowledged their part in the situation. Not worth investing your time and energy. They will kick you to the curb bcz you are replaceable, No matter how much of yourself you gave to the property.

I moved out of the MAA community in Jacksonville,** in March 2022. let me start by saying this Studio apt. had a bad infestation of cockroaches that I had to take care of myself because there was not pest control offered. All the appliances were from the ****s and nothing in the place was new, no not the carpet. I took the Studio Apt. because I was in a hurry and needed a place to stay. I have been in ******* for years and I understand how many bugs are here and they are hard to control. The water leaked out of the faucet whenever it was turned on in kitchen and bathroom, as weel as the shower which had terrible water pressure too.I dealt with alot of this because I had nowhere else to go. Upon completion of my first Lease, i was informed that the rent was going up almost 30 %, I knew I could not afford to stay. i spent two full days cleaning the apt. even though they held no deposit on me since my credit was good. I was offered a cleaning service to come in for $130 to clean the place after I already had cleaned it thoroughly from top to bottom. Anyway they wanted to charge me $191 for cleaning and water ****. The water **** was dated for the time I had paid already. I was then sent to collections without ever being contacted, which I did pay to keep my credit clear. i offered pictures to show the place was in the same condition which I moved into. They could not dispute me or show pictures which would prove it needed a cleaning, just plain Greed. I truly hope people will read this before they move into any of MAA communities anywhere. They were the worst overall experience I have ever had in an Apartment complex. beware if you sign any lease as it will be raised by $150-300 dollars if you like it and want to renew so be careful. Very sneaky and noncaring folks overall, even if you think they are nice people, you will not be happy if you decide to sign up with MAA, I promise you that much. BEWARE
