I now have to hire a attorney for this company to do the right thing. I will never refer of suggest this company to anyone else. If you buy a home from Clayton homes in Como Ms dont expect them to do any repairs because its going to be bs, lies and excuses.Business Response

Ms. , We strive to provide a world class customer experience and we are truly sorry that we have not met your expectations. The Como location sent someone to your home this week to look into/address your concerns, however, it was advised that you chose to turn away the contractor believing he was not qualified. The general manager reached out to you to look into the matter further, but the call was terminated. Please feel free to reach out to the Como location regarding if you have chosen to allow service to be completed.

We purchased a home from Clayton Homes in Monroe in 2018. Ever since we purchased the house we have had problems with the roof. We had someone from Clayton homes come out 3 to 4 times to fix the roof. They never fix the problem, and our one year warranty expired. We still had trouble with the roof and we had a roofer come out and state that it was poor craftsmanship. We found a claim door extended warranty and they just are who came out said that it was "wind damage ". Clayton Homes Will not take a statement from a roofer, only an adjuster. Now, we are having to file a claim through our homeowners insurance which if it is found that it is poor craftsmanship my homeowners insurance will not pay for it and I will have a claim on our insurance for five years. I've had two different roofers come out and I both stated that it is poor craftsmanship is the reason why our roof is leaking. Our house is less than five years old and we should not be having these issues.Business Response

, thank you for providing your feedback, as we use that information to better our processes. We are sorry to hear about the issues you are having with your roof. Clayton provides a one-year manufacturer's warranty, with the option to purchase an extended warranty. Those warranties do not cover any act of nature. It appears that the issue with your home has been determined as wind damage, and is therefore something that would not be handled through your manufacturer's warranty. Clayton does not review estimates from contractors due to their financial interest. However, Clayton is always willing to review official insurance adjuster reports if a manufacturing defect is identified.
Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/09/20) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I understand that the warranty does not cover nature (I.E. wind damage) but my point in making this claim is that the back door was leaking when we PURCHASED THE HOME. You can look back at the 4+ times we filed a complaint when we had the one year warranty and someone came out but never fixed the problem and now it's slowly became worse. The house was faulty since the minute we got it and I will not stop fighting until you guys fix it because you sold us a faulty house.
Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/09/20) */
Thank you for your response, . We understand the frustration of needing repairs to your home. While we recognize that there were issues with the door within the first year of the warranty period, there were attempts made to fix the issue. After October 24, 2019, all issues must be handled through the extended warranty coverage, which is held by Home First. They can be reached at 1-800-804-9389.
Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2022/09/20) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
There is no reason why after 4 or more attempts of you guys sending someone out to our home to fix the door that it should still not be fixed. The home was faulty when we purchased it and was NEVER fixed!!!!!!!
It is not REGULAR "repairs" needed. It is repairs due to a faulty roof. We have had these issues ever since we bought the home. That would not be "repairs" and should be proof that the home was faulty when purchased. Our home is less than 5 years old and we are having to replace the whole roof. Something you should not have to do unless the home is 10+ years old.
Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2022/09/21) */
Thank you for reaching out, Ms. ********. We understand your frustration and, as previously stated, we are happy to review an insurance adjusters report if a manufacturing defect is found by that adjuster. At this time, the final determination is that the damage to your home was caused by wind damage, and is therefore not something that Clayton is able to address, as wind is an act of nature and not covered in your warranty or extended warranty. Those warranties are strictly for manufacturing defects. However, we are always willing to review if your homeowner's insurance states that a defect is found. Please advise once you have the insurance report and we will be happy to review it.Initial Complaint

Closed on our Clayton home bought from Oakwood Homes on March 15th,2022, home was on our lot in the beginning of May 2022, we didn't move in until July 1st, 2022, we are now experiencing black mold in our cabinets on dishes, on our clothes hangers in the bathroom, on our WiFi box in the main living room! Their is black mold forming in my brand new home, I didn't pay over $16,000 for a damaged home, we haven't been in the home but for only 2months and have warped wood on the floors, bad sounds on the floor when walking, very much unpleased with both home companies but my warranty is with Clayton homes so someone has to be liable for this fix, I have a newborn and a toddler living in a home with black mold that we just purchased!!!!!Business Response

I purchased a home through Clayton Homes and was promised all the fixes would be handled and my home would be the way it was supposed to be during a change in management and I have cracks in my walls I have moisture problems and major issues never repaired after the closing on my home. All the work was not performed by licensed Contractors and the work was sloppy and not acceptable. I want my home fixed as I was told it would be before I have to file a lawsuit.Business Response

My husband and I purchased a 2017 TruHome May 5, 2019, from Clayton Mobile Homes Athens, Alabama.
At the present time we are paying towards a balance of 75,000.00, the purchase price of the home.
Once, Clayton delivered and completed the set up of the home to our property, (service/ project manager) for Clayton Homes, instructed us to walk through the home, inspect for any repairs we believed should be addressed by his dealership, then give him a call. We did as suggested by , after which, he sent someone to our home to make repairs. However, the people he sent to our home did not fully complete the list of the repairs. I made a phone call to to inform him all the repairs had not been fully completed. He instructed me at that time to contact my insurance company or the warranty company.
I have made phone calls to both the insurance company and the warranty company. Each company telling me to contact another person at another company. They all just keep putting on someone else. This has being going on since we bought the home in April,2019.
As of this date, August 26, 2022, the repair issues of our "forever home" have not been resolved, as a result other issues have begun. I suffer with severe asthma as does our eldest son, who is eleven. Because the roof has continued to leak, as well as the bathtub in the boy's bathroom, black mold has started to grow inside the house, causing us to have more breathing problems.
We have also contacted the Customer Advocacy Department. I talked . She requested that I send the paperwork from the warranty stating why they will not fix the issues and photos of the damage's. I also emailed the paperwork. She has not replied.
We only asked for the house to be repaired completely, properly. As we were told it would be.Business Response

I bought a mobile home on 6-28-22 paid $97,991.40 for 16ft X 76ft model 777 cool breeze.
Clayton delivered home on7-19-22 and has done nothing but put some skirting on which is not complete, brought front and back steps which are incomplete, and brought a heating and air unit out. They installed the electricial meter in the wrong place and were told 1week ago about it but have done nothing. Every time I call them they tell me they will be done this week but no one ever comes out. I'm tied of trying to be nice and I want the home finished so my family can move in.Business Response

Installations of our homes take typically 90 to 120 days to set up. The steps were already addressed, HVAC has been installed and the electrical was moved where customer requested. The skirting corner panels were left off for the Final inspection and those will be installed at the 52 point inspection. Clayton Homes is waiting on the final inspection and the customer to have power turned on so the 52 point inspection can take place.

on 9/6/2022 at 12:45PM Clayton Homes sent out with a skid steer to drop dirt on the sewer pipe coming from out the rear of the mobile home. Mr didn't bury the septic pipe underground as instructed by inspector listed in inspection, (#5) report . In the process drove the skid steer back and forth over the drainage lines and septic tank several times risking permanent damage to the tank and drainage lines.

I purchased my home from the ringgold Georgia office in 2015 and from day 1 of the unit install it's had constant water leaks the back door the front door and at each window. The man they sent to fix the issues only halfway fixed the issues still had leaks. After 1 year the sub floor in the living room failed during Christmas the outer 2x8 band was rotten made a call was told that was my problem to solve. Few months later the dining room windows rotted out black mold everywhere the insulation and plastic under the home was soaked the foam board between the studs and siding looked like someone put there head through it so I called and was informed that was my problem to solve. At the master bedroom with a heavy rain water runs down the wall behind the bed rotting out sun floor no shingle issue or roof issue found the bedroom window has water stains at the top of them. Master bathroom cabinets molding starting to rot out the HVAC duct is not tied together great causing moisture to build under the house in the insulation feeding into the hole for the plumbing causing condensation and black mold. Master shower failed had to replace shower pulled master tub same issue with mold and condensation from unsealed hole to under side of house. The back bathroom sink rotted out and needed replaced from unsealed hole at plumbing on top of 4" pvc toilet drain that had been leaking since day 1. All the insulation under the unit is full of black mold the trunk line is not secured to the floor boots losing cold air to the outside air. A 2015 model home shouldn't have these issues it's poor construction. It's a health hazard from front to back. It's supposed to be energy efficient but is not. I've had to replace sheet rock insulation sub flooring and still having issues I've had the roof inspected the roof is starting to sag between each trussBusiness Response

Mr. , We are sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with Clayton Homes. We do see that there was communication in 2020 regarding the same issue when the home was 4 years outside of the warranty. Your home is now 6 years outside of the warranty timeframe. At the time of our communication in 2020 ,we have record of inquiring if you had reached out to your homeowners insurance carrier, as we are always happy to review a report if it states manufacturer defect. You shared that it was too much of a hassle to contact your carrier. At this time we still encourage you to reach out to your insurance carrier if you feel there are items that may need to be looked into.

Insurance was never a issue and to my knowledge I was never asked or told to go through insurance I'll have someone out to inspect and show pictures of all the water damage and show that it's manufacturing defect and a lemon from day one and show the crap half way repairs that your contractors made causing even more water damage with the back door gutter he installed feeding straight into a exterior light leaking into the wall and into the main electrical panel thus causing possible fire hazards where I had to rebuild repair seal and kill black mold. I have everything documented on pictures.

I purchased a mobile home from Clayton Homes in Greenwood SC and have had problems since day one. One of our biggest issues is that there is moisture in our master bathroom. After numerous attempts to get this fixed by Clayton Homes we are still back at square one. They sent someone out here that said we didn't have a leak and claimed the underbelly just needed to be put back up under the bathroom that had fallen for some reason. After waiting months for them to get the tape to put the underbelly back up someone finally came and said they put the underbelly back up and that the moisture problem should be fixed. Well it wasn't. It got so bad in there that mold was growing all under the cabinets and in the drawers. The cabinet latches are now rusted as well due to all the moisture. So when I called back to tell them the moisture was still there they inform me that my warranty with them is now up. So I called the insurance company and they said they will not pay for that to be fixed because that was something Clayton Homes should have taken care of. We have had problems with the septic tank, plumbing, electrical, HVAC unit and more since day one. I just want my bathroom fixed and for it to feel normal and not have mold growing all in my bathroom. I don't think it is good for me or my kids to be living somewhere with mold growing and here I am having to pay a mortgage for a home that doesn't feel like home.Business Response

Clayton Homes sent a Plumber to this home 8-26 to address their concerns. Clayton Homes is scheduling additional service to be preformed as a courtesy since Home owner is out of warranty.
Consumer Response /* (3000, 12, 2022/10/27) */
This has not been resolved. Still waiting once again for something to be done about this moisture and mold. Clayton Homes did send a man out who wiped the walls down, but nothing else has been done. The mold can get cleaned up everyday, but if the moisture continues the mold continues to grow. So the walls being wiped down doesn't solve the problem. This has been a problem not long after moving in while we were still under warranty. Almost two years ago. They haven't fixed it in two years. It has been excuse after excuse. I have paid a mortgage on a home that hasn't been right seen day one and no one cares. They don't do anything while your under a warranty and then tell you when it's up they can't do anything cause your warranty is up. It was August when I filed this complaint and it's now October and nothing again.
