I really don’t know where to start. We look at a home in March 2024. We closed in April 2024. They said that the house would be ready for delivery on May 30th 2024. It came in during the first part of June. Their contractor that they use had not even done the pad yet. We did all of our part, we got the electricity and water out there. Because of miscommunications between the contractor that they use we were delayed even more. When we finally got the house delivered ( late July ) it was wrong! There were 2 rooms that were not the correct color ( master bath and the office) and a complete wall where a door should have been. Clayton said “ oh it’s a quick fix”. It absolutely was not. It took weeks. They said they would have the materials on site And ready to go so that the contractor could make a quick switch and it would be done in two days. It took 3 weeks! They said that the branch that builds these homes for this area only sent enough Sheetrock for 1 room. They had a completely rip everything out of the master bath. Sinks, counters, shower doors. Wow we finally get into the house and had to wait on the AC unit that was allegedly backordered. It’s July in Texas mind you. Our propane, gas stove was installed with natural gas fittings. They finally fixed that about a week later. Wait, They didn’t fix the oven so now every time I try to bake something something I have to smell propane the whole time. As of today it still has not been fixed. About a week and a living in the house, the shower door fell off. The same shower door that they had to takeoff to replace the sheet rock. Call them about this this morning at 8 AM and I haven’t heard anything back. They Sent someone out to change the faucet in the guest bath because it was bad and would not hold pressure. Well, that’s great, but they didn’t tell us that was coming out. I have to find out from my two minor children who were at home at the time. This has been the worst experience ever!Clayton Homes, Inc.

Hi Christie, thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback with us. Clayton Homes is committed to resolving these concerns for you. We have ongoing communication with the factory regarding the stove, as it is a warranty issue. The shower door was brought to our attention yesterday, August 7th. The factory has provided the materials to correct any further issues. We have also submitted to investigate the low air flow in the back bedroom. There were some delays regarding repairs due to waiting on parts. If you have further concerns, please reach out to us directly. We are committed to resolution and creating a better customer experience.Review fromAnn C

Wish I looked into this weeks ago. Claton Homes of Brewerton, N.Y. is insisting I pay for lot modular IN FULL before they move it to my lot and put on foundation. I insist NO HONEST contractor would demand FULL payment before work is done. I also offered to pay down half (like they want) and then put balance in escrow. Pay them in increments as the work is being done and approved.

Bought a lot home and nothing was done to it besides putting it up. Ever since we gave Clayton homes of lancaster an 8/10 instead of a 10/10 that they begged for we have practically been ignored. none of the trim has been fixed. we have had a pluming issue with one of our tubs since day one, no one seems to care enough to make it out here to fix it. the same tub has a 3 to 4 inch gap that leads directly under the house allowing critters to get it. the under paneling of the house has been screwed up since day one as well. i communicated these issues back in may and have not been communicated back too. i now believe the seller is actively avoiding me and my home. we have 4 months left on our 1 year warranty and i believe they just don’t want to deal with the issues they left us with. teresa and nick b at clayton homes of lancaster are two individuals to actively avoid when purchasing a home. i refuse to point anyone looking for a home in clayton’s direction.Clayton Homes, Inc.

Hi Bryan, thank you for reaching out and sharing this feedback with us. Customer experience is of the utmost importance to us. It appears that we have tried to schedule multiple appointments to address your concerns, and those appointments have either been canceled by you or we have not received a response. Our plumber attempted to reach out to you to schedule a time to address your plumbing concerns and never received a response from you. Additionally, our service technicians scheduled an appointment with you on May 22, 2024, to address concerns about the skirting and loose battens, which was canceled and then not rescheduled. Our warranty manager has reached out to you again today in an attempt to send the appropriate folks out to repair the items specified in your complaint. We are hopeful that we will hear from you so that we can address your concerns and make you happy as a customer again.Review fromDaniel S

From the beginning I was lied to. Our salesman (Robert ****** started our relationship by misrepresenting himself as the sales manager, which he was not. He misrepresented how our furniture was going to be stored and when delivered showed evidence of water damage and there was even a slice across the back of a chair. I was specifically told not to touch the area of the land where the house was to be placed, along with the septic area. Now that there has been a large stump found under the house, the actual sales manager (Darlene ******** has informed me that it was my responsibility to clear the land for the house. Why would you place the house if it wasn't done properly, why would you trust a non-licensed, non-professional person clear land for placement of a house? Not to mention all of the numerous cosmetic issues with the house that have taken over 6months to make and the sales manager had the courage to tell me that my cosmetic warranty was over 3 months after we moved in so they will be making no additional cosmetic repairs. When I asked another clayton location I was informed that the houses have a 5 year cosmetic warranty. Clayton Homes also has a politician (Joe ******** on payroll that they will send in to "mitigate" issues, all he does is try to intimidate, belittle and gaslight you. He actually told me on multiple issues, "just don't look at it" and "I wouldn't do all that work just for something that small". I have had multiple leaks throughout the house, at one point
being able to shower while i was cooking dinner and another resulting in my laundry room being completely renovated 1 month in because of black mold from the leak being there since day 1. Not to mention when we started all this we bought the red tag unit and we were told about 6mo to move in, Robert drug his feet so bad, not only did we loose the unit we wanted but I actually had to reapply for the loan. Being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 10 was a far better part of my life!Clayton Homes, Inc.

Gooda afternoon Daniel, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We strive to provide world-class customer care, and we are sorry to hear of concern items you have mentioned, as we have done all repairs within the warranty period. The furniture is sold as is. It was very old and had been used in several houses. One piece of glass was missing, and we replaced it as a courtesy.
According to your sales addendum, you were responsible for clearing and landscaping. We offered to purchased equipment for tree removal, but you insisted on digging it up and removing it.
Regarding the cosmetic warranty, we went above and beyond by changing wall boards and trim to cover staples, even though they are not covered by the warranty. You have the Home Buyers Protection Plan, and we provided the pamphlet explaining what it covers.
All other items mentioned such as water leaks have been investigated and resolved.Review fromWill H

Love the home but sales mgr Scott ***** of Harrisonburg Va has done nothing but repeatedly lie to us and blow us off until the one year warranty was up. I would never recommend anyone to use this particular representative for Clayton Homes to anyone. We have had problems with everything from driveway, landing pad off of front porch, lied to us about receiving a new front door to compensate for mud room bench and storage space we never did receive and follow up of service that had to be rescheduled while my wife was recovering from a liver transplant. He lied and said he tried to reach out to me to schedule and he never did( I have records of every phone call and text and multiple attempts to reach out to him to have issues resolved with no response ) until I received what I feel to be poor people skills in talking to customers and basically saying he wasn’t under obligation to do anything because the warranty was now up and I have proof of reaching out to him well before it was. He promised all this to be taken care to get us to sign the contract and if we would give them a good review . At this point I would recommend him to build someone even a dog house .
The only person we would recommend would be Logan who sold us the house he was wonderful and I hope this review won’t effect him in a negative way.Clayton Homes, Inc.

I purchased a spec home in 2023 that was already put on the property. Since that time I have had nothing but problems with this home. My kitchen cabinets were sagging, their remedy was to slop some spackle at the top. They installed my dishwasher incorrectly which when first used leaked all over the floor and down under the house which saturated my insulation in a 3 x3 foot area which they said they came and replaced. I couldn't get under the house so I don't really know if it was done. I asked for pictures and never received any. My primary bath shower door track only had 1 bead of caulk on the outside, so water sat under it. They caulked the inside but left water sitting under the track so the caulk didn't seal. During the time of caulk drying I used the other shower. I noticed they did not install the tub surround correctly and there's a 1/2 inch gap at the bottom where the tub meets it. They will not repair it, Scott at Georgetown KY Clayton Homes said it's a cosmetic issue and he was VERY rude. How can it be cosmetic, when water will go straight down into the wall and ruin the wall and floor. That is just a few of the issues I have had, there are so many more. My warranty runs out in 1 month and there are refusing to repair anything else. Never never never buy a Clayton home. They got their money and they don't back up their warranties. Sorry customer.Clayton Homes, Inc.

They rope you in with their nice looking models and smooth talking salesmen, but as soon as you pay up and sign the paperwork it all goes to shit. Communication is non-existent, timelines are not even close to being met, their contractors just show up whenever they feel like it, a few of whom were quite disrespectful not only to us but to our property (ie: leaving garbage and water bottles full of piss just laying around, without even attempting to clean up after themselves). We took delivery 18 days ago and are not even close to being able to move in. We were told once the home was delivered it would be about a week max to get everything done and ready. We still have no block wall foundation, and no running water; the French drain around the perimeter of the foundation has still not been installed, and no backfill or grading has been done either. When you call to inquire about what's going on, or ask questions about timelines and why they're not being met, they answer with excuses and play the blame game pointing fingers to the other guy with no responsibility being taken by anyone. Then they blow smoke up your ass telling you what you want to hear, and making false promises just to get you off the phone. Will we ever be able to move in, or are we just going to sit here looking at this house? I guess time will tell. Calls have been made to corporate, and that didn't seem to really do much either. We were also forced to throw away a bunch of food due to being without power for several days. Their contractor insisted everything would be fine because he "does this all the time", but we're on day 4 of no electricity to our other building which means no running water to the property either as that building houses my well equipment...This is not only an inconvenience but on the brink of becoming a health and safety issue.
With the amount of money we shelled out, up front without financing, I expected to be treated better....
Again, avoid this company at all costs!!!!Clayton Homes, Inc.

Our home was delivered & set up in Feb/March 2022. The dealer ignored emails about problems. Magically the short one year warranty ran out. By September 2023, I noticed there was water in a crack in the flooring (that was never repaired). We stopped using the master shower because of the leak. Then we had to put thing on hold while I dealt with breast cancer. After having to deal with the insurance company, because it’s considered water damage and plumbing problems; we finally got money to fix it. The floor is rotten because the leak had been from day one because of SHODDY work done at the factory. The fitting was not done/ glued or what ever term used correctly. I hope we got enough money to get the flooring fixed. I love the design of my home, but customer service is HORRENDOUS.Clayton Homes, Inc.

Good afternoon, Rachel. We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your home. If you are struggling with getting repairs completed, it would be best to reach back out to your insurance provider. They are under the impression that you have everything you need to complete your repairs. If you need additional funds or assistance finding a local contractor, they would be able to review the payments and if a supplement is required because of location and contractor availability, they can assist.Review fromRoberta W

I would like to say this has been a nightmare. We bought our home in February of 2022 a buccaneer home, from Clayton homes of Dublin, during the pandemic. We fell in love with this home. But started having troubles from the before the keys were handed over. They told me to make a list of things that we saw that needed repair. Which I did. I know see I should have made a copy of it before handling it over to them. They were so very hard to get ahold of in reference to repairs. After many many many calls, they sent out on 2 different crews on 2 occasions they would be here maybe 30 minutes and on the phone. Then they would say that they, would have to come back to finish. For which they would never come back. We have now been this home 2 years.
We started out with cracked window, cuts in flooring, light fixtures not working,, and we recently found black mold in the front bathroom with soft floors. We checked that out and there was a shower fixture not on thight enough and had been leaking for the 1 and a 1/2 years we been it.
We could not get ahold of anyone to come check and fix it.
I have had resorted to having to call the Fire Marshall of Georgia to get them to help use in this whole mess. So when they came they found alot more in the structure that was not done right.
I am wishing now that we had not even done this whole kitten caboottle. Or just gone to a more camendable seller. Or just done a check with the BBB.Clayton Homes, Inc.
