AHS takes your money and does not provide the services they offer, they don't send anyone to service your items stating that "they don't have service in that area". AHS does not know what they are saying.

I filed a service request for my air conditioner in early May. The AHS contractor got it working, but didn't fix the problem. They came back to fix it and I was told the evaporator coil needed to be replaced and I had to pay $1625 for freon and to modify the plemun. When I questioned the charge (the plan states plenum modifications are covered) I was told there was a mistake. I would not be charged for the plenum modification, but I would be charged $1525 for the freon and a modification to the freon lines to connect to the new coil. I approved the charge and requested the issue be escalated because the a/c company I used before purchasing the AHS Warranty said connection the lines to the new coil was a standard part of replacing the coil.Paragrapy 7 in their Warranty Plan refers to "modifications". They claim anything that is not exactly as the original is a modification & not covered. Example- when a coil is replaced the freon lines may not connect in the exact same location to the new coil.e.g you have to pay to connect the lines to the new coil.AHS told me it would take 5-7 days to get the coil. After 5 days I called and was then told it would be mid June. Then the AHS contractor told me AHS had cancelled the order for the coil, but they could install a new drain pan, which would solve the problem, but I would still have to pay for the feon. I said I didn't want to also pay for freon when they installed a new coil. They said I didn't need a new coil (they initially told me the coil was leaking freon and needed to be replaced). I called AHS explained I had fixed the problem because AHS wouldn't fix it, & I wanted compensation. I was told by *****, a customer ********************** represenative, she would request a "buy out" and get back to me. She didn't call back, I called AHS & was told their contractor had reclassified the problem as being caused by a "pre existing condition", therefore it wasn't covered by the AHS warranty. I cancelled all my AHS warranties.

American home shield is a rip off for sure, when calling they ask what device are you calling about and create a work order with out giving you and option to select one or two devices and when you speak to a customer ********************** ***resentative they tell you oh you have to speak to a *** to have two or more items on the service request but the promote that one service request will cover all items in that category. which is a lye. then the providers that they use are horrible and dishonest. they come in to fix the bare minimum. Just so you have to do another service request and pat another service fee. This place should be shut down or not allowed to operate with these shady practices. On not to mention you still have to come out your pocket because the only pay for certain parts..

American Home Shield has been giving me the run around with my AC/Heating unit for over two years now. They finally sent someone out to install a new unit that AHS bought and gave the service company to install. It was a 40/50 amp unit whereas my breaker box could only support 30 amps. The unit subsequently worked for a couple of hours and blew the fuse. They sent another service company out because the initial company went out of business shortly after installing the wrong unit. The second company replaced the fuse with a 40 amp and told me and AHS that either AHS needed to have a downgraded system that fit the 30 amp fuse box installed OR send out an electrician to change the fuse box to fit the unit and rewire the house. If not, it would be a fire hazard. AHS has not done either to this day. I have called them more than 10 times on this issue, and they keep giving me the run around and asking me to pay additional service fees of $125 each. I have already paid out upwards of $5000 and they keep wanting more money out of my pocket. I have had AHS for several homes, and they are getting increasingly worse. If a call is escalated, it takes 24-48 hours for them to get back with you. They have become the worse home warranty company. Extremely poor customer service. I don't blame the people that answer the calls, they have no power to do anything except make the notes and move on to the next call.
Please tell me what can be done about this. I feel that I am getting scammed by American Home Shield.

I’ve had American Homeshield for 6 years and never used them for more than a pipe, clog, or simple refrigerator issues. Just recently my water heater burst and they sent out a contractor who said the entire unit needs to be replaced. This is why we get coverage for when the big issues arise. Two days later I get a notification from AHS that I need to accept the non covered costs of $1538…I requested an itemization and that boosted prices of add on parts none of which costs more than $45 individually. I spoke to the contractor and he said they were in fact trying to make me agree to pay the full installation upfront by claiming I was paying for “uncovered parts.” He said I should just take the cash out option and find my own contractor. I requested the cash out and they offered me $397. You cannot buy a water heater for that price!!!! Forget installation costs. This is highly offensive and ***** because in my contract this is supposed to be fully covered by my plan; just not secondary damage. This company’s such a sham. I will NOT be renewing at the end of my contract term. After all these years, the first time I really needed them they showed just how much they do not appreciate consistent paying customers so they lost one now.

We've never had no bad issues with AHS for over 23 years until recently. We were going to cancel because of a dispute, but then talked with Jennifer Southam (AHS Resolution Specialist) who instantly took control and resolved the dispute! AHS needs to commend employees like Jennifer because I'm pretty sure My Wife and I are not the only ones staying with AHS because of Her!

0 Stars: An Absolute **** – Steals Your Money, Provides ZERO Service, and Traps You in Their System.
American Home Shield isn't a home warranty company—it’s a predatory scheme designed to drain your bank account while offering nothing in return. After paying premiums faithfully, I requested repairs for two appliances in deferent times. Their response? Endless delays, outright denials, and contractors who showed up quoted fees so high, or telling you "THATS NOT IN YOUR PLAN" "one of American Home Shield contractors asked me to hire a other contractor than him just to take the water heater out", means I am paying money for two contractors to repair the water heater!!!!! other contractor for garage door said that this motor is not in the plan!!! in the two requests I did AHS did no thing. It was cheaper to pay out-of-pocket.
But the real fraud is their systemic betrayal of customers:
?? No Cancellation: They make it IMPOSSIBLE to cancel your policy. There’s no option online, no email address to contact them, or no confirmation, and phone reps hang up or "transfer" you into oblivion.
?? No Way to Stop Payments: They’ve locked my card account like a leech. Even after demanding cancellation on chat tool on the site, they continue charging my card monthly with NO recourse.
?? Ghost Operation: No mailing address. No valid email. No way to document complaints. This isn’t poor service—it’s a deliberate tactic to avoid accountability.
They are ******** in every sense:
      They take your money upfront.
      They ignore service requests.
They trap you in auto-pay ****.
They vanish when you demand help.
DO NOT TRUST THEM. Save your money, cancel your card if you must, and warn everyone you know. AHS isn’t just incompetent—they’re borderline criminal in their refusal to provide service OR release customers from their grip. The BBB and state attorneys general need to bury these predators in lawsuits.
