WARNING.I rate this company’s zero. Do not engage with this company. They absolutely do not care about the customer. I have been in a vortex of conversations to get my AC repaired during an extreme heat wave. (AHS) ordered the incorrect part. It was delivered to the contractor 4 days late. AHS will not order or authorize the correct part until the contractor returns the incorrect part. They are taking no accountability for ordering the incorrect part and expect me to wait until they receive the part back from their contracted AC company to order the correct part. I am on day 20 since I placed the service order.
It is their incompetence that the part was ordered incorrectly/delivered late. DELAY after DELAY, when I call to speak to customer service or the escalation department I am placed on hold for a minimum of 1 hour. I have NEVER received any valuable information from company representatives.
They have not engage in any service recovering with me as a customer.
The representatives ***** back scripted responses. AVOID this company at all cost because they do not care about customers and just take your money.

This company is a scam. I had plumbing issues, paid over ****** dollars, only to hire a contractor to pay an additional ****** to replace a garbage disposal they said they replaced and did not per my the contractor I hired. In addition, in my agreement it states all parts and components are covered with a garbage disposal and they did not honor their agrrement. So surprised their is not a law suite against this company.

I signed up for American Home Shield a month ago and then had an ** issue. As a result, I called in for service. The ******* said the unit wasnt worth repair and needed to be replaced. Because my policy is new and because of the issues with the unit, they say its pre-existing and will not cover the cost for the replacement. I told her I called when it stopped working. AHS said I should have known it had issues before it stopped working. That I should have seen or heard that it was a problem. Ive had AHS before (about 5 years ago). At that time I had heard a noise when turning on the ** unit, I called in a service request. Paid the $75 fee and the ** *** told me that it works so theres nothing he needs to do. Just because it makes a sound is not a problem. This is a good unit. I continued to use the unit and now that its broken, they wont pay the cost to address the issue. It has been denied. Im out the now $125 service charge for coming out, to be told no action can be taken even though I called when it stopped working. We are experiencing an extreme heat wave and its not safe for my family and pet to be with the **, so Ill have to take action to do what I need to do for my family

AHS is a complete mess. They say that everything is covered but when a contractor shows up at your house, they all are required to make "modifications" to the most simple of tasks. The contractors know how the system works and the customer is the one who is left with a much higher bill that advertised.

Caution: Reconsider Before Choosing AHS for Your Repair or Replacement Needs
After many years as a customer of American Home Shield (AHS), I strongly urge others to explore alternative options for home repairs and replacements.
Recently, I encountered a serious issue involving the replacement of my HVAC system. Two independent HVAC technicians—as well as representatives from both Trane and Lennox—confirmed that a 3.5-ton air handler installed by an AHS-assigned contractor is not properly matched to my 4.0-ton condenser unit. Despite these expert evaluations, AHS continues to stand behind the contractor's claim that the mismatched installation is acceptable.
This situation highlights a larger issue: AHS appears to prioritize cost-cutting over proper service and customer satisfaction. Rather than addressing valid professional concerns and doing what’s right for the customer, they choose to support substandard work to protect their bottom line.
Additionally, I encourage anyone considering AHS to read their contract very carefully. They are not obligated to replace any covered item with the same brand, model, or even color. This can lead to frustrating and suboptimal replacements.
In my experience, AHS has not demonstrated a commitment to quality or accountability. Make sure you fully understand what you're signing up for before choosing them for your home warranty needs.

Reported a non-cooling AC unit on 6/18/2025.I was then given a 6 hour window on 6/21/2025.HVAC tech from ******** HVAC and ***************** arrived, 2 hours past the given window, but was extremely helpful. ***** told me that my capacitor was dead so we began there. After trying a brand new capacitor out of the box it was determined the issue was in my compressor (which wasn't firing) and in my coolant line. The coolant was empty and reading a charge of -63. Based on this diagnostic report and the fact that the unit is 34 YEARS OLD, ***** said that he was going to write a report recommending a new AC unit be installed. In fact, he said that Foxcroft would NOT allow him to fill the coolant as it was apparent that there was a leak ************ forward to 6/23/2025- I have now gone 5 days without a functioning unit, my home is 90 degrees, and I receive a service request to replace a capacitor and coolant to the tune of $2,100. With a home warranty plan (American Homeshield). After contacting both companies they claim that the service tech did not indicate the need for a new AC and fail to see issue with charging me $2,100 for a bandaid of a ****** NOT trust either company. DO NOT waste your money on either company. They appear to be working hand in hand while charging members premium rates without any actual coverage.

Totally Unacceptable. Worst Customer **********************. I opened a Service Request on June 21, 2025. There is no response. I can't contact them over phone. Initally they said they call my number, but they left a voicemail. I called again and was on the queue. They left me hanging for 1 and half hour.

We have been with American home shield for six years. We got with them when we bought an older house from the 60s and the air conditioner was a 1999 model well last week it finally went out they would not pay for any of the repairs on it and I was $12,800 out of my own pocket so if youre trying to get American home shield for the comfort of knowing that when your air conditioner goes out theyll pay for it. Good luck theyre just gonna take your money and when it comes down to it, theyre not gonna give you a dime for your air conditioner. I highly recommend just take the money you give this waste of time Company and just put it in an account. They told me they were not and will not pay to fix my air conditioner or reimburse me for any of the $12,800 I highly highly highly recommend you do not use any home warranty companies. This is the second one that has burned us on getting repairs done and we end up just paying for it out-of-pocket what a waste of money. we had the highest package you can get with American home shield and have had it for six years.

I found it almost impossible to cancel my agreement with American Home Shield. I had to call over four times. Their hold times were at least 50 minutes each time. One time they did give me an option to be called back, and they did call me back, only to lose the connection on their end. I fee as if that was part of the game, as the individual claimed that she "could not hear me." Eventually , after another call and more time on hold, I was able to cancel the agreement, or at least I think so. Their operators are clearly given a script to dissuade anyone from canceling. It was really frustrating. I just spent all this time with them today and have yet to receive any confirmation. I strongly discourage anyone from contracting with this firm.
