My car was towed from an apartment complex while I was sleeping. Upon me waking me my car was gone. I called them at 10:48am and they told me they close at 11am opened at 9am. Then proceeded to tell me I couldnt get my car after 11am and would have to Wait till tomorrow and pay an EXTRA 30 Dollars and they arent even open for a full day! It supply to be someone there to release vehicles so we even acquire storage fees.Business Response

In response to the complaint. We open our office on Saturday and Sunday from 9am till 11am. The city of ******* does not require us to open on weekends. We open as a courtesy for our customers. We are the only Tow away company who are open for the weekend. We do this so customers have an opportunity to retrieve their vehicles and not be without them for an extended time. We can not control what time customer decides to inquire about their vehicle.Initial Complaint

The superior towing company charged me ****** within 4 hours of picking up my car ,,they towed my car at exactly 6:56 am and they didnt answer the phone until 9:15 when their supposed to open up at 9:00 so they had my car for exactly 3 1/2 to 4 hours in the same day same morning,so why is the fee that much when maximum city ordnance for a tow fee is ******Business Response

The City of Memphis raised the basic tow rate to $225.00 in November of 2023. As per the ordinance we charged the exact rate the city allows. Unlike other tow away companies that would charge an additional $30.00 for storage. The 225 is charged immediately as a base tow fee, We as a company did nothing improper in this situation.Initial Complaint

I have a 2000 ****** Avalon and it was towed to *************************************************************************, on 08/17/24, to my mother's apt. On the 18th I had a mechanic checking it and I needed to get an alternator and the battery charged, there was no sticker on it. On the 19th I went out to the car to make sure the doors was looked. Superior towed my vehicle on the 20th and lied like it had a sticker on it since 08/08/24. They had a picture with a sticker in the tow yard, no picture of the sticker on it at the apts. They rigged the paperwork to get to get money from me. They lied like they gave paperwork to the office and I was told that they didn't receive any paperwork from Superior towing.Business Response

The owner of the 2000 ****** Avalon was given a warning issued on 08/08/2024 for violations of No Tag, and Inoperable (must be driven to leasing office). If not fixed and/or updated said vehicle will be towed on 08/18/2024 or afterwards for any/all violations listed.
Vehicle still had no tag/plates and Vehicle was approved to be towed and was towed away on 08/19/2024.
On 08/20/2024 Female called in arguing we didn't sticker her car. Explained multiple times to her by serval different people that we have pictures of the vehicle in questions on the day of the sticker placement. Woman didn't want to hear anything we tried to explain.
Owner ***************************** came into office with her daughter on 08/20/2024. Both were extremely aggressive and demanding. ************ lady and one of our managers showed them the pictures of the vehicle with the sticker on it. Picture has Date and Time Stamp. Once again both ladies complained and argued as they departed the office.
The owner ***************** came back into the office recording with her phone. Ask how much to pick up her vehicle tomorrow (the next day). $285.00 was explained would be the cost on 08/21/2024.
Please find attached Mutiple pictures of vehicle in question with the sticker placed on said vehicle. Date & Time stamped.

Please find attached the proof that was shown to the owner and her daughter. We always take pictures that clearly show date and time of picture on all vehicles being issued warning stickers for violations of property rules and regulations. We always verify with manager of leasing office or the staff before any vehicle is towed, to clearly make sure someone complied or was given additional days to update the violation. This vehicle had no tags cleared noted on day of stick and no tag or plate on day of tow. Both ladies never denied there was no plates/tags, just denied there was a warning placed on their vehicle. Regardless of the vehicle owner's disagreement, the vehicle was in violation of the property owners' rules and regulations and was towed per management request.Initial Complaint

Superior Towing is a truly terrifying towing company, like demons. My car was parked just one meter in front of my apartment, and they secretly towed it away in the middle of the night without even leaving a note, making me think my car had been stolen. It was only after I called the police that I found out it had been towed. I had a parking permit, but it seems they deliberately removed it before towing the car. When I arrived at the towing company, they claimed I didn't have a parking permit. It's horrifying, it's practically robbery. They took $232.88 from me without providing any explanation of their scam behavior. I believe this behavior is an illegal act of plunder and should be condemned and subject to legal action.Business Response

My vehicle was parked at ***************, in the Azure apartments. It was parked in a parking space that was not designated to a resident. It was towed. I am trying to reach them because the Memphis municipal code states that : City Code does allow a maximum of $125 for towing fees and $30/day for storage. However, it also says towing companies must provide a telephone number that is answered "24 hours/day with someone available at the storage lot to release vehicle within a reasonable time after inquiry is made."I am calling and the number is busy. The ****** info says 24 hours but they close at 11 on Saturday and Sunday.By law, I should be able to reach someone and access my vehicle TONIGHT. HOWEVER THEY ARE IN VIOLATION BECAUSE THE NUMBER IS CLEARLY SET UP YOU CAN'T REACH THEM.Since it was a fruadently tow to begin with, combined with the fact that you are unable to reach someone as the law states. On 06/05 around 8:35pm i drove my nieces home to my sister at *********************. There were no other cars in the reserved spots in front of her door and since I had 3 children two car seats and some bags, I pulled up directly to her door to unload. I spent around ***** min altogether at her apartment. It took us a while to get everything in the house and get the kids settled. A few min after 9 I walk out to leave and see my car being dragged away. I visit my sister often and have never seen this happen before. I have seen visitors park all over these apartments. I have seen people park in front of the laundry room for hours on end and nothing happen. When I finally got my BRAND NEW (just purchased on Monday) car back this morning there were scratches all over my front bumper. I am planning to take this company to small claims court because they seem to take ***** pleasure in towing cars based on the reviews. My sister claims that typically they monitor the parking situation but theres no way in the 20 min it took me to unload my car and the 10 it took me to say goodbye did they monitor whether or not I had been there very long. It seems like they pulled up immediately after we unloaded the last item and took the car before I even had the chance to come out and defend the fact that I was only dropping children off and leaving! What I really want to know is if they are responsible for the damages to my brand new car. Based on the reviews this towing company is terrible and unfair and dont care how they get their money. I dont wish to even speak with them I just want the damages paid for on my car.Business Response

In response to the claim of damage to vehicle. As you can see in the pictures provided by consumer. Our tow trucks are equipped with self loading wheel lifts. In the pictures you can plainly see that our lift goes under the vehicle and lifts the car by tires. The scratches on car appear to be from a curb or it is from hitting something. We take great pride in not damaging vehicles as we know getting towed is a stressful situation when the rules of the property are not followed. Thank you.

So I woke up Sunday morning around 11 am and discovered my car was missing I called around I end up contacting Memphis dispatcher for towed cars they insured me my car was at superior towing i immediately called a lady answered and said give me a minute and hung up now they are charging me 255 to get my car back when the maximum towing fee is 125 and the storage fee is 30 this is robbery without a gunBusiness Response

Thank you for your complaint. City of ******* raised tow rates in November of 2023. The new rate is $225.00 for a class A tow. There is no storage on first day. If car is not retrieved the first day the storage rate is $30.00 a day from day 2. We charge according to the rules of the City of *******. I hope this addresses your complaint.
