Ms. SANDRA G**** the Warranty Supervisor of 40 years. Is way too busy to cc you in repair emails. Even when my roof is leasing. 55% of your payment is leasing fees. Warranty work is done by local builder. They are very eager to pick up building instead of repair detective products. I am very disapointed and have called asking to see if Ms G**** is even Alive anymore and to look at under her desk- to find her. No one is available until I threatened to stop payments and go to shall claim to get repairs. Will update as they contact me.Old Hickory Buildings, LLC

Dear *** *****, We're sorry for the delayed response to your comments on the Better Business Bureau, but it's our understanding that our Warranty Repairs team has been in touch and made arrangements to make the repairs. If this is not the case, please reply and we'll follow up again with the team internally. Sorry it took time to get this resolved. Our Warranty Repairs Manager has been made aware of the lapses in communication and will address it. Thank you for bringing that to our attention. It took nearly 9 weeks to receive our shed and the minute the driver showed up I knew it wasn't the color we wanted which was Beige. After several emails and phone calls, a territory manager came to our home with 2 wood samples showing the two colors in question. He insisted what we got was Beige although it matches precisely to the Navajo color as shown on the brochure. We argued back & forth and finally the best he could do was to help with the cost of the paint we will need to make it the Beige that we ordered. Looking at the brochure, it says they use ******* ******** *********. Turns out this is a discontinued base paint. The salesperson at ******* ******** had no idea what it was and he called another store asking if they knew what Old Hickory uses. Still no idea. We plan to stop at the dealer and tell them they better tell their future customers to choose their color off the sheds that are displayed on their lot and do not rely on the color in the brochure being even close to what you want. We are senior citizens and painting it is not an option for us which means it will require hiring someone. Another expense. Very unhappy customers here. I would never recommend Old Hickory Buildings.Old Hickory Buildings, LLC

Dear *** *******, We switched from Duracraft to A-100 in between brochure printings. A-100 is actually a better quality than Duracraft...so the shed you received is painted with a better quality paint than what was advertised in the brochure. Also, our website and our brochure state clearly that "Actual colors may vary from those displayed in the brochure. See dealer for actual color swatch. Old Hickory Buildings, LLC is not responsible for colors not matching the brochure." This statement is displayed at the bottom of every color chart. We do this because color cannot be accurately represented in a full-color printed brochure. We're sorry that the color isn't what you anticipated..but this is why we put that warning in print and on our website. Sincerely, Old Hickory Buildings & ShedsReview fromIsmael S

I ordered a shed and paid for it cash and I want back 2 days and cancel the order now I am having issues with the company in getting my money back. The worst customer service especially Ashley one of the supervisors. She never let me explain my situation she was rude and pass me to Nick left messages no return call.Old Hickory Buildings, LLC
Date: 09/21/2023
Dear *** *****, After researching the issue, it appears that your full refund was granted. The order was actually placed on 9/1 and your first call to the home office to cancel was received on 9/5...so the down payment had already been received and deposited. It's our understanding that Ashley explained our cancellation process to you, which requires that the funds be returned in the same manner in which they were received...by check in your case. Your refund was mailed to you on 9/14. We understand that you asked to speak with Ashley's supervisor and that she said he was not available, which was true. All of management was off-site at a meeting and not available at the time. We're sorry that circumstances have prevented you from completing the purchase of a shed, but Old Hickory has made every effort to resolve the situation for you and return your funds as quickly as possible. To start, the fine print in the agreement was not gone over in the retail office at time of my purchase. $17,108.18 seemed like a reasonable price for a 12x40 loft barn. Here I am, two months away from “paying it off” I found out they have very small print on the back stating it’s a 48 month contract for the total cost of $34,265. For that price I could have got a actual tiny home instead of building one from the ground up. After paying for all of the permits, inspections and building I was told I’m behind in payments. Apparently $800 a month isn’t enough. The *************** people are a scam artist. 50%of the monthly payment goes to them and 50%goes to the principal ($34,265) all of this was not mentioned at all. Second, when making the decision to purchase I spoke with the retail store for a few weeks before deciding. I made them very very aware of my intentions with the shed. It took three rough drafts to come to this decision. I wanted to build a tiny home! I left my apartment behind and placed this on property, got the permits ($975) bought insulation and paneling ($600) a generator ($800) and thankfully I delayed on getting a county electric hook up. I am very invested in my idea. Well was! Found out that these sheds are not livable. Inspection failed due to poorly structured ceilings, uneven eves, popping frames and door frames uneven. And they knew their structures were garbage because they included it in their agreement! Do I swallow the money invested and give it back? Or keep making the $800 a month payments? Third, because it’s so uneven I asked to have the guy come out and re level it. He showed up, in the pouring rain, looked under my shed and said it’s fine, blamed it on my kids having their toys against it, and that he couldn’t do anything. Lastly, I am very disappointed in the “highway robbery” here. I was recommending family, friends and even told complete strangers how much I loved my “house” even though it was a pile of ****.Old Hickory Buildings, LLC

Dear ** *********, While we are disheartened to read your review, we are unsure why you believe ANY of this was a scam. As you admit in your own review...ALL of this information is disclosed in the rental agreement that you signed. The cost of renting being higher than the cost of buying is a fact for anything in the world that you want to rent. While Old Hickory is only the manufacturer and NOT the rental company...should the rental company not make a profit from the service they provide? The Rent to Own option is particularly good for customers who don't intend to keep their shed for the long term because they only need a temporary storage solution...or for customers who do not have the cash or available credit to buy the building outright. The rental company takes on the long-term cost of purchasing the building from Old Hickory in order to provide consumers with relatively low monthly payment options that are commensurate with other self-storage facilities. In terms of transparency about the long-term cost...it's in the rental agreement for you to read. Does the agent at the **** rental counter take the time to read you their entire rental agreement...or is it your responsibility to read before you sign? If you choose not to read a legal agreement before you sign it...that is entirely your choice. It also would not have been necessary for you to read the entire agreement to calculate the long-term cost of the rent-to-own option. You would have just needed to multiply the monthly payment times the number of payments in the term. This is no different than when you purchase a home, rent a car, etc. We're unclear how you could expect to pay only the cash price for a building that you're taking 4 years to pay off. Regarding the quality and the suitability of our buildings as living spaces...we make it VERY clear in the sales agreement, in our brochures, on our website and in many other locations that "our buildings are designed to meet IBC standards but are not guaranteed for every local jurisdiction that may have its own unique codes. Our buildings are classified as Minor Storage Facilities (Occupancy Category I) and not intended for other uses." Everything in quotes is taken directly from our website "About Us" page. Many customers do make the choice to turn their shed into a type of living space...but this is done at their discretion and it is ALWAYS up to the customer to know whether local building codes will allow for the intended use. It is not our responsibility to know what your plans are and to do that research for you. While we empathize with your situation and wish you hadn't spent the money you did without having first done that research, read the agreement you signed, calculated the total cost over time, consulted a contractor or other knowledgable person...we take issue with your claims of a "scam" and your assertion that this was "highway robbery". It was neither of those. In the end, we do hope that you'll find a good use for the building...even if it's not according to your original plan. Not something I would purchase again very poorly built, horrible, wouldn't pass framing inspection.Old Hickory Buildings, LLC

*** *********, ALL Old Hickory sheds are built in accordance with IBC (International Building Code) standards for Minor Storage Facilities (Occupancy Category 1). They're intended as storage buildings, for which the framing requirements are VERY different than they are for a residential structure. If they were built using residential structure framing guidelines...they wouldn't be affordable. We're sorry that you're not pleased with your building, but Old Hickory buildings compare VERY favorably to competitors within the same category. In fact, ours are Engineer Certified, a claim that most others cannot make. Sincerely, Old Hickory Buildings & ShedsReview fromTousha S

Don't buy from old hickory buildings. They tell you you have all these warranties then when you file a claim they take months to let you know anything then ghost you, when you contact them again nearly half a year later they make up an excuse (after ANOTHER THREE WEEKS) about the building not being far enough off the ground (only one corner is that close to the ground.) Which was literally never mentioned as any kind of rule when they were listing all the warranties that come with it. They are liars.Old Hickory Buildings, LLC

Dear *** ******, Although we did not find a customer order or warranty claim under your name...we believe you are writing on behalf of *** ***** ****. We reviewed the warranty claims submitted and found that we DID honor the claim regarding the defective barn door handle and that has been fixed. Regarding the other claims...our policy clearly states that our "warranty does not cover damage caused by any misuse, alteration, neglect, improper maintenance, or abuse. It is written clearly on our warranties page AND in the sale agreement you signed. We reviewed ALL of the photos you supplied and it's abundantly clear that the shed is being neglected. There is mud, dirt and debris all along the bottom of the exterior boards and CAKED all over the diamond-plate door threshold. Wood, resin and metal products will not last when they are covered in dirt and never cleaned...no matter how well they are made. If you leave dirt caked on the hood of your car...it too will rust quickly. This is why these items are not covered by our warranty. We are not responsible to cover a product that is being neglected by the customer. That said, we did contact ** *********** (the manufacturer of the ** Smart Panel) on your behalf as the warranty coverage for the exterior panels is theirs (as noted in all our marketing materials). ** was willing to review your case and tried to make contact with you, but they never heard back. However, in all likelihood, they may have also denied the claim as a result of the visible neglect...even if most of the building was greater than 6" off the ground. We're sorry that you're not satisfied with the warranty claim experience you've had...but we are not liars. Our warranty conditions are very clear and there has been extensive communication with you that we have on record...including the photos you've submitted with demonstrate the extremely poor condition in which you've kept the building. Sincerely, Old Hickory Buildings & ShedsTousha S

If you call not responding for months extensive communication then that's ridiculous. And acting like someone is going to come out when they don't instead of just saying what you said here. The pictures were taken on and right after a rainy day. That is not CAKED. The building had mildew show through on it three days after it arrived. That seems like neglect from you or the previous owner. And aluminum SHOULD NOT RUST. You guys waited to do anything until we had too much money invested in the building to just send it back. You're nothing but crooks and liars. And it took 6 months at least for the door handle thing to be resolved. We have cleaned the outside of the shed of the dirt several times. This damage started not long after we received the shed, it took me a while to get someone to tell me how to go about getting the warranty claim started. If I had looked at the other reviews on the BBB website I'd have known not to mess with buying anything from your company. If you had contacted THEM when I FIRST contacted you I might have had this taken care of by now. You waited months until I finally called the office and then weeks more after I called to tell me about how it's through ** instead of contacting them about it right away or at least letting ME know I needed to contact them. You should not have pretended someone was going to go ahead and come out "as soon as the weather gets warm." The contract is a joke considering it says "new on lot" even though I know for a fact it was repo'd from someone else before we got it because we had to wait for it to get brought back to the lot before we could see pictures of it. This building is not being neglected. You're just making up more excuses. We have done all kinds of things to help PRESERVE the building, despite it arriving with split and bowed 2x4's. I didn't contact about that because the ones that are like that don't seem to be in a dangerous/hazardous place and I didn't want to nitpick. Clearly I should have. The broken piece of black trim was caused by the driver as he was dragging the building into position. Not neglect. It wasn't his fault. The scuffed up piece way up on the side in front of the building was there when it arrived, before it ever touched this property. Not to mention the rushed paint job on the back where you can see through the paint to the wood. What ever happened to a second coat? There was plenty wrong with this building before it ever got here.Tousha S
Date: 07/25/2023
This is also the very FIRST time ANYONE has said the word neglect to me, which just confirms you're only trying to make me look bad and you look good. Yes, dirt gets on the building, but it also gets cleaned off. I don't think you know what the words "cakes with mud" mean I first contacted you LAST WINTER. RECIEVED NO MORE COMMUNICATION AFTER SOMEONE CONFIRMING THEYD COME OUT TO DO THE REPAIRS (WHICH WAS A LIE) UNTIL LATE THIS SPIRNG. THAT IS NOT "EXTENSIVE COMMUNICATION"Tousha S

AND the pictures you have " on record" are from one single day in the middle of JANUARY when it's been raining hard for days and the weather is giving that same forecast for the next week. If you go out and wash your car in those conditions then you're just plain stupid.Review fromJoanne J

After having to go back to the lot I purchased the shed from because I never got a response after calling and leaving a message to the delivery person listed on the the paperwork, I was told the delivery was never scheduled. Then after the delivery I find that the second set of shelves was missing. Despite the fact the lot salesman agreed by his notes he read back to me that he did sell me a shed with 2 sets of shelves in it, the owner tells me his inventory never showed there was a shed like that on the lot. They would not install a second set or give me any type of discount. I couldn't belive the poor customer service despite the guy on the lot agreeing there was a second set when he sold it to me. Very disappointed!!Old Hickory Buildings, LLC

Dear *** *******, Every Old Hickory customer signs a sales agreement detailing the building type, size and an options added. They are itemized on the sales agreement that you signed. If there is a line item and charge for a 2nd set of shelves or if there's a single line item for a total length of shelving that accounts for the 2nd set you anticipated, then please submit a warranty claim here: ***************************************************** If your sales agreement does not contain the additional shelving you anticipated as a line item, then rest-assured that you did not pay for it and the building you received is consistent with what was ordered and paid for. If the dealer failed to put the extra shelving on your order, then we apologize for their oversight, but this would not qualify as a warranty claim or any type of refund or discount. Please check your sales agreement and be sure to file a claim if there's an item listed as paid for that you did not receive and we'll be sure to rectify the mistake. I bought a 14*38 last year it got delivered in time. Upon delivery the door casement was broken. I pointed it out to the delivery man he took a photo and said he would get it fixed. This year we started building a mini home in it the door was still broken. I submitted a claim last week received no correspondence. My contractor went and bought another door as construction needed to be done. I’m out paying his time and a new door. I was considering buying 8 more of the sheds for a development on my private reservoir.Old Hickory Buildings, LLC

Dear *** ***, We're sorry to learn of the experience you've had so far. We received your warranty claim and looked into the situation further. Delivery drivers are supposed to report damage that occurs during the delivery process within 7 days, but for some reason that didn't happen in this case. Therefor, the Old Hickory warranty repairs team had no knowledge of the issue until you submitted your recent warranty claim. Had we known about the issue sooner, it would have been resolved and the repair would have been accomplished in a more timely manner. We're addressing this with the driver to make sure he understands the correct process in situations like this. In order to offset the cost you've incurred for having your contractor install a new door, Old Hickory is going to process a refund equal to the price of the walk-in door add-on option. That credit will be issued using the same method as you paid. If you paid by credit/debit card, the credit will be processed this week, but may take more time to reflect on your card statement. If you paid by check or cash, the refund will be issue in the form of a check and may take a few weeks to arrive. We hope this resolves the issue and restores your confidence in Old Hickory Buildings & Sheds.Review fromTony L

Besides the fact that there sheds take weeks to build with no communication on status or delivery, and contact with anyone that knows anything about your building is obsolete, the delivery process and actual delivery was horrible. The communication with them was always initiated by me, the times i was told would get a call back never happened. finally got a date and was told it would be delivered between 10-2 and please confirm. i confirmed the date and time. delivery day shows up i initiate contact again because it is already passed 2 and nothing. told they are still on road need to stop somewhere first then will come. Now it is evening about 8 pm it is raining and slightly snowing, so i am thinking they will reschedule possibly for morning. They show up it dark and raining. first they have trouble getting shed off of the truck. Now i was told when originally got the shed that it can be put where i wanted it, described location where i wanted, and wasnt a problem, its actually not a hard location theres good access and room for this not very big shed. finally get shed off truck and start taking it back with there small lift they use to move it. take it back to where it needs to go but he backs it in with lift head first when he should of pushed it in and turned it into location, complaining that the ground is too soft and they cant really see, well ya its raining and its dark this is when you decided to delivery it! give a half *** attempt to move it where I want it and tell me it cant be done but proceeds to tell me step by step how I can do it myself. I then say delivery and leveling of the shed was part of the purchase, proceeds to tell me he can put it over there in the middle of my yard and level it, yes I want this shed smack dab in the middle of my yard, ***?! they left shed where they dropped it and left. next day left message to delivery company got no call back. ended up setting and leveling shed myself. place is a joke. do not recommend.Old Hickory Buildings, LLC

*** *****, We're sorry to hear about your delivery experience. We rely on our drivers to communicate with customers in advance of the estimated delivery, and then again on the day of delivery. The VAST majority of our drivers are good at this and can get the building placed where it's needed and then leveled. This has been forwarded to the Territory Manager, who is responsible for working with the drivers and training them. He'll be addressing this issue with the driver and using this as a training opportunity and to reinforce performance expectations. Again, we're sorry you've had this experience...but we hope the building serves your needs well. Sincerely, Old Hickory Buildings & Sheds
