At the time of the sales appointment,2/14/2023, I was recovering from open heart surgery, 1/26/2023. At the time of the sales presentation I was lead to believe that my 1 1/2 year old 50 gallon hot water tank was sufficient, only to find out it is not. The tub I purchased, in good faith, takes approximately 80 gallons of water to function. I find I run out of hot water at about 2/3 of filling, there isn't enough HOT WATER left to wash your hands. Of course that is not acceptable. I contacted the company and was referred to the contract , which states the Company is not responsible for lack of hot water. I do not contest the contract. My argument is the sales person, Dean B. was aware and not forth coming that the water tank capacity was not adequate. I told them I did not have room to add another water tank. I was told there was a $500.00 discount toward the purchase of an additional tank, which was already deducted from price. I don't see that in the paper work. This discount only, in my thinking, adds to the apparent knowledge that there is not enough water to operate the tub properly. When I contacted the company, on at least 6 different occasions, they only refer me to the contract. I have a very nice product which is totally worthless at this point. This Company has no allegiance to the customer. There was and is no follow up after the sale.

ONE of the best decisions I've made in the last ten years! The negative comments are interesting to read but they are all different experiences. I had a welcomed - much needed approach from sales through insulation. The installation was scheduled and completed in a timely professional manner. Yes there was some drywall cutting and residue - that I handled as with ANY renovation. I have used every component of the tub/shower and remain very pleased. My husband is experiencing early signs of dementia and is quite reluctant to fill with water - but has finally agreed to the hand held body shower. He does not enjoy the locked door and filled tub idea (yet) .. but I do! ... Yes, it does take about 10 minutes to fill while you sit in cool tub: I wrap with towel on heated seat and set the bluetooth music and check texts and messages on my phone and enjoy the hot water rising. Yes, it takes several minutes for seat to heat - but thats a "timing" issue on my part. Yes, my water heater is strained and water turns cool before completely full: that also an issue that I plan carefully .. and that WAS discussed in my interview. We don't travel much anymore and I don't have access to the relaxing Sauna experience that I enjoy so much - anymore ... so THIS is the next best thing for me - and a healthy investment for my husband. I hope SafeStep is there whenever I need them. But I have HANDLED the experience and the financing to MY needs. "To each - His own" .. So far - I'm a very satisfied customer.

I am writing this for my 91 year old Mother who had a walk-in tub installed this week. The company has a top notch Sales Rep who gave her a great presentation that I sat in on. He quoted her $24,000 final cost, with $14,000 discounted including a $2000 stipend for a new 50 gallon water heater. She was expecting a check to come in the mail to pay her plumber. The tub installation started Mon. Aug. 14th & completed Wed. Aug 16th. Her first tub bath was yesterday. Not a good experience. Lukewarm water that she turned off halfway & the jets wouldn’t work due to lack of water. Mom called Safe Step to ask about her check for the new gas water heater. She was told the cost was deducted from the final cost. She would have to hire a plumber herself. Mom called her plumbing contractor to install the new unit & explained why. He was shocked at the cost & feels she was taken advantage of because of her age & widowed. I have no knowledge of walk in tubs & I was shocked at the price. The Rep suggested she take out a Home Equity Line of Credit which she did. She wants the tub but is now thinking she has been overcharged. A lot. She would like to be reimbursed money. Plumbing contractors are quoting a walk-in tub should have cost between $6,000-$8,000. Calls have been made to discover, no permits were pulled nor was an inspection made. Waiting for a return call from the Code Enforcer.

I called for information only. They kept calling every day for 2 weeks until I finally told them I was going to call the police if they called again. They don't leave you alone! Very bad business!

Have an expensive eyesore. Tub installed May 31, 2023. Shiny white, caulk is smeared on tub, in holes, on tile floor, on ceiling, and on wood baseboards. There are no neat, clean seams. Where a wall had to be removed to install the tub and then replaced to seal the wall, there is a wave in the wall and two holes left it it. The towel rack that was on the original wall is missing. Sprayed paint on the wall is uneven and is either showing white spots through it or showing paint on the tub walls. There are fingerprints in the wider caulking where smooth neat seams should be. The calking is rising and peeling off the tub and it is splitting inside the seams. The shower curtain has a dark seed-like thing in the plastic. The seat heater does not work. The drain works sometimes. The blower worked the first day and quit. I have sent pictures and written and called my representative. Last I heard was he will send my information on to the company. That was a week ago. I have pictures of all of this which are better than the ones already sent because I am learning how to take pictures with my mobile phone. I need this tub and would like it to be an improvement to my home. This installation is not up to the quality of Safe Step Tubs.

I am pleased to report that we performed a reinstallation of the walk-in tub to address customer's complaints. We have not heard from customer since that time. We apologize for any inconvenience she incurred as we worked to reinstall her walk-in tub. We hope she enjoys her walk-in tub for many years to come.

Very disappointed. The shower has very little water pressure. When calling and asking if a different shower head can be used (hoping to get a little more pressure) or would that void the warranty, I'm told they manufacture all the parts and more than likely no other shower head will work. Then they proceed to tell me to have a plumber come in and measure the PSI. She states we like it to be 70. After the salesman checked all the measurements, checked the hot water heater, the electric (and other things) why couldn't they tell me to have a plumber come check the PSI BEFORE I paid them $20k to have their tub installed. Don't bank on a heated seat or back. you have to turn it on way before you get in the tub and even then its only a little warm in spots. You also should be told you will sit in the tub for a minimum of 10-15 minutes waiting for it to fill. My salesman didn't make it clear they had other versions of the tub either. Don't get me wrong. It's a nice tub, but quite a few things should be changed. So buyer beware.

We always regret when a customer is not completely satisfied with their walk-in tub. We were surprised to receive this review as we have never received a request to perform a service call. If customer would like for us to review the operation of the heated seat, we would request that they contact our service department and we will promptly schedule a visit. Regarding water pressure and the fill time of the walk-in tub, the contract addresses these issues, stating that we are not responsible for pre-existing water pressure and we cannot guarantee the tub’s fill time. The contract also states that installation of the walk-in tub will not substantially change your home’s plumbing and that every home’s plumbing is unique with regard to water pressure. We look forward to addressing any service issues with the walk-in tub if we are contacted.

I agree and I apologize to Safe Step for questioning (complaining) about the fill time and heated seat (although I had no clue the seat needed to be turned on way ahead of your bath). And I was surprised it took as long as it did to fill. When I called the company, I planned on asking about the heated seat, but shocked with the first question. (I wanted to be sure changing the shower head to a more powerful one would not void the warranty as we had no water pressure problem before, and I assumed it was the shower head not Safe Step) Thats why I was calling to question the warranty being voided if the shower head was changed. I understand Safe Step manufactures all their parts and apparently, I won't find a shower head that works. When told I need to get a plumber to measure the PSI and they like the PSI to be around 70. My question is why don't they tell you that prior to installation. I agreed to get a larger water heater (that was brought up) and would have had a plumber check the PSI if discussed. I'm just trying to bring up issues that a buyer might want to be aware of. As I stated before, it's a nice tub. My apologies to Safe Step for my incorrect statement.

Spending about $18k, we felt the saleswoman had done her due diligence to ensure the hot water heater could handle the requirements to have a hot bath/jacuzzi experience. She did visit the heater and sent a picture along with other bathroom specs to the installer to ensure it could handle the demand. Unfortunately, despite no other water heater demands running in the house, the best we can get is past the knees. The tub has now just become an awkward and cramped shower with an in turning door. I'm looking into another expensive upgrade of a hot water on demand heater, but I'm very disappointed that this company did this install without ensuring adequate infrastructure. A costly mistake for us!

Before Purchasing I did a lot of reviews and checked out the good and the bad, I understood that every company has bad reviews, partially, because simply not everyone can be satisfied, ... I was skeptical to say the least... However, upon asking my physician for advice and going over my poor sleeping habits due to pain, he suggested that the hydrotherapy can do wonders and I soon figured out that Safe Step was truly the ******* of bathtub, and I was not about to let another day go by in life where I felt unsafe...My Safe Step Walk-In Tub has been my most important purchase in years. The staff set everything up with me and my family, and then we met at my house to go over which models of tub would suit my needs. They took all the measurements and recommended the walk-in tub for me. The staff at Safe Step was in constant contact, and it made this a tremendous experience for me. In the evening I soak in the tub and let all of the gentle jets provide all of the soothing comfort, releasing all that body tension, cramps and pain in my legs, knees and allowing me to have all those hours of beautiful sleep, not to mention get so much cleaner.

My mom and step dad paid a $5000 deposit and signed a contract for a walk in tub, that was in August 2022 and to this date May 2, 2023 have still yet to be contacted for an installation date, nor are their calls returned after leaving messages, of course no live person will answer the phone. Since the contract was signed, my step dad has received a diagnosis of mesothelioma and my mom is scared to seek someone else to put in a walk-in tub because she doesn't want to breach the contract. I certainly hope that someone can make this right before legal action has to be sought.

While we are always disappointed when a customer is not completely satisfied with their installation, we are compelled to respond to this review. Here, the homeowner instructed the installers as to the location for installation and this is precisely where the walk-in tub was installed. Despite following these instructions, customer refused to pay at the conclusion of installation. The purported reason given for refusing to pay had nothing to do with the placement of the installation. Instead, customer claimed that they were informed that caulking would not be used in the installation. The Direct Seller has adamantly denied ever stating that we would not use caulk during installation. Additionally, there is absolutely no support in the contract for customer’s assertion.
Customer has a fully functional and operational walk-in tub, which was installed exactly where the homeowner instructed. Despite Safe Step fulfilling all contractual obligations, one of the resolutions offered by customer was that we refund the down payment while they keep the walk-in tub. We declined the offer to give them a free walk-in tub. Out of customer goodwill, we have made a good faith attempt to resolve this matter. Our efforts have been rejected by the customer. Consequently, we will be pursuing all available legal remedies to collect all sums due.
