On Sunday June 22, I had a **** trimming scheduled at my property. The ****** damaged my Govee brand lights that sit underneath my ****, on the ground, and damaged two different lighting sets. His hedge equipment went through both of my light sets and split the cords in half causing total loss. I warned him about my lights which are on the ground before he began his work. I sent all of my photos and videos to the ******************************** email address. I spent over $210 on these lights and the service plus tip was almost $80. I am seeking a refund for my service plus reimbursement of the lights that I need to replace.Initial Complaint

There were 3 transactions dated 5/15/25, 5/25/25, and 6/9/25 for lawn mowing services totaling $153.38. Putting aside our lawn being scalped in multiple areas and the clippings left on our vinyl fence, the contractor that they sent out put a hole in my vinyl fence while I was out of the country and didnt notify me. I reported the damage via a damage claim on their app as soon as I was able to discover it after I got home, but LawnStarter denied the claim stating it was outside of their 5-day window to report damages. I wasnt home to see the damages and I clearly stated that to their damage claim department but they didnt care. The 5-day window is also not clearly stated during sign up for the services. Their contractor created more damage to my property than I paid for the services. Will never use their services again and wouldnt recommend it to anybody else either.Business Response

They took my debit card number and I tried to get lawn service to come to my house. They told me it would be in a few days and no one ever came to mow my lawn. I continuously called and they kept telling me that it would take up to 5 days to come. No one ever showed and now they have my debit card number. They lied to me. This all happened the first week in June 2025Business Response

On 6/11 I paid for lawnmowing service. Yard was mowed low which caused grass to go from lush and green to brown since grass is *******. Clippings were blown out of yard into flower beds when mowing and left in huge pile in yard. Clippings covered all new soil and plants outside of grass area. The type of grass is Bermuda grass so clippings have to be removed so grass doesn't grow because Bermuda self seeds. - Tech was suppossed to arrive to fix issue on 6/12- did not ahow up. Tech returned on 6/13 at 6 pm after I made multiple calls and inquiries. Tech only showed up with blower and. Not tools to remove clippings and contaminated soil. Tech tried to blow clippings, no clippings came out of soil and they left after less than 10 minutes and said company would be back on 6/14. No one has come back or confirmed yard will be fixed and Lawn starter closed my request for property to be fixed. All dirt needs to now be removed and refilled. Unable to speak with any supervisors after several attempts, have been charged for service, Lawnstarter gave me $45 credit to account and I told them that would not cover issue and I did not want to be charged for bad service, or receive a partial credit and I would like to have yard fixed. No response from Lawnstarter other than your complaint has been resolved. I can send more pictures. Wasnt able to upload them all.Business Response

Lawn mowing service scheduled for June 7, 2025 not completed. I notified Lawn Starter via chat within their app on June 8, 2025. They sent another professional to do the original job on June 9, 2025. An outstanding estimate and service request for debris removal scheduled for June 9, 2025 was also incomplete.I have filed a dispute for the incomplete jobs and they are requesting photos, which I do not have because the lawn was cut the day after the dispute. However, I do have photos of the debris not being removed. They are continuously attempting to bill me for the services which were not done now that I have demanded cancellation of their service. I am being told to wait for the dispute to resolve to assure cancellation. All the while, they are actively trying to bill me.Business Response

I signed up for lawn starter service back in April of 2024 decided. I did not like their service. Tried numerous times to cancel their service and found somebody else to cut my grass once. I believe that my services were canceled. I went about my year. When about everything come April of 2025, they came out here and cut my grass without my permission. I then charged my account when I tried to dispute it. They tried to say that I didn't cancel the services that I paused them with when I have confirmation of emails sent that I canceled the service. They are still trying to charge my account.Forty four dollars and ninety nine cents after I told my bank that I did not authorize this charge, and I think that they are doing this to other peopleInitial Complaint

They never did the job despite telling me they were going to. They lie and as a combat veteran I can't abide by a business that lies. Lawnstarter is a fraudulent middleman service that claims to offer landscaping services. The company's website is non-functional, with many of the sections leading to a page that says the section is "under construction". The website takes your address, gives you a quote, takes your payment, and there isn't even a wrap-around contract. Then you start getting messages from the company that you can't view until you make an ************'s the critical part: Lawnstarter's terms of service, accessible only from a ****** search: admits they offer no consideration, but demand payment with no possible refund. They clearly do try to get local landscapers to come out and perform services, but whether anyone shows up or perform satisfactory services/damage your property would appear to be luck of the draw according to complaints. If you get duped by these fraudsters, focus on the actual company. They don't secure enforceable contracts, they admit they don't provide any consideration worthy of compensation, and take them to small claims court because the issue is too nebulous for most credit card issuers.I myself tried to utilize their service to my own peril, and will likely be forced to litigate this issue. They charged my card, having been explicitly told they did not have permission, after their customer ********************** agent argued with me about pictures showing the grass was only 7 and 1/4 inches long and that the contractor left yard waste all over, killed off tulips, and left missed spots all over the lawn.If you find yourself in my situation, remember they are a middleman and not the actual service provider. Middleman and out-of-state companies are subject to specific laws here in **, so check with your State for recourse.Business Response
