Lawnstarter is a fraudulent middleman service that claims to offer landscaping services. The company's website is non-functional, with many of the sections leading to a page that says the section is "under construction". The website takes your address, gives you a quote, takes your payment, and there isn't even a wrap-around contract. Then you start getting messages from the company that you can't view until you make an ************'s the critical part: Lawnstarter's terms of service, accessible only from a ****** search: admits they offer no consideration, but demand payment with no possible refund. They clearly do try to get local landscapers to come out and perform services, but whether anyone shows up or perform satisfactory services/damage your property would appear to be luck of the draw according to complaints. If you get duped by these fraudsters, focus on the actual company. They don't secure enforceable contracts, they admit they don't provide any consideration worthy of compensation, and take them to small claims court because the issue is too nebulous for most credit card issuers.I myself tried to utilize their service to my own peril, and will likely be forced to litigate this issue. They charged my card, having been explicitly told they did not have permission, after their customer ********************** agent argued with me about pictures showing the grass was only 7 and 1/4 inches long and that the contractor left yard waste all over, killed off tulips, and left missed spots all over the lawn.If you find yourself in my situation, remember they are a middleman and not the actual service provider. Middleman and out-of-state companies are subject to specific laws here in **, so check with your State for recourse.Business Response

They say that they are helping to grow your business but if you messaged a customer and they want to pay you directly they fine you 5000 for solicitation. Then let customer lie about the last time the yards were service and refuse to give all providers a trip fee if the trip is an empty tripBusiness Response

Hi Devon,
Thank you for your message. I understand your concerns regarding Lawnstarters approach. It does seem like their practices may limit providers opportunities to grow independently and generate income outside their platform. Ideally, these platforms should support and build up the businesses they work with, rather than restrict their growth.
I will reach out to them and see what we can do regarding this and what resolution we can come up with. I will get back to you as soon as we hear from them.
If youd like, we can continue discussing this further here via email.
Best regards,

We have used this company in the past is for lawn cutting. We needed sprinkler repair in the front of our building and off to the side. We were quoted a price of two hundred and seventy seven dollars to fix the issue. A subcontract or came out looked at the area to be repaired and proceeded to send us a different quote of twelve hundred dollars. After telling them that we could not afford that they dropped the price 27 hundred dollars. Unfortunately again we did not have the finance for that and they agreed on the original amount. They came out on a Friday morning, made repairs. And at the end of the day said they had to go to ********** to get more sprinkler head. They never shut up the next day as promised. After calling to complain about the service.Three days later he came out again did more repairs. One starter contacted me saying that everything has been completed. They had asked me to sign off on it. I told them.I will check tomorrow morning. When the cycle for the sprinkler system comes on the sprinkler system came on that morning at six ******* and it was a huge lake in the front. I called the company again this time. They said well, it's my problem, they did what they had to do. I'm seeking the full refund of three hundred and thirty one dollars as I do not want any of the subcontractors on my property from this shady company called lawn starter.Business Response

This company sent a lawn service to my home without me requesting or authorization. They said they cancelled my account and it was an error on their part but I continue to get weekly harassing emails from them demanding payment. I literally showed up to my home and after work and found out some random guy showed up, cut my grass and now lawnstarter is wanting payment. Terrible company and customer experience.Business Response

I signed up for mowing and trimming services and received a notification on my assigned day stating that my grass had been cut. However, when I returned from a work trip three days later, I found that my lawn had not been touched. I attempted to communicate through the ** app but received no response. I then called the ***** number and left a message, only to be told by an automated recording to call back during working hours. When I did call back to resolve the issue, I was unexpectedly informed that I was outside of the dispute window. I had assumed the company would take responsibility and simply send someone out to perform the service I paid for. Instead, I was told that if I still wanted my grass cut, I would have to pay more because I no longer qualified for the discount associated with the first cut. Frustrated, I decided to cancel my account. Even during the cancellation process, the company didnt refund the charge for the initial service, despite the fact that they sent me a photo of a yard they supposedly serviced and it wasnt even my property. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of accountability, poor customer **********************, and unwillingness to resolve what should have been a simple issue.Business Response

LawnStarter contracted a company out to do mowing at my home and when they left there was a broken door. Please note, Austin with First Choice Lawn and Landscape mowed the grass on that day but never alerted anyone that a rock hit the glass causing damage. I did reach out to LawnStarter immediately with photos of the damage seeking resolution. After a few days, I was offered $200 for the repairs which was grossly low. I then moved forward with asking since LawnStarter does this type of service, they should be able to arrange a repair with a vendor to address this issue and cover the costs. A few days went by and I received another message from Lawnstarter stating they could not get a vendor but would now offer $400 for me to repair the items but I needed to sign a waiver within 48 hours from 5.28 or offer was off the table. Please note, since this is a double pane glass that does not cover. Since we now have to find a vendor to come out and quote the work we are not signing anything to release liability. I also had one quote based on the picture state it was over $650 easily due to glass ************ this point, I would like for Lawnstarter to work with the vendor we choose and and pay for the repairs with vendor.Austin at First Choice Lawn and Landscape honestly should be covering this under his insurance, since he is the confirmed vendor who did the work. I need resolution ASAPBusiness Response
