I hired Thryv to rebuild my business website under the clear agreement that the new site would be customized to my satisfaction and outperform the website I had already built myself. I have experience in website design and was already using a functioning, effective site built on ***********. Thryv assured me they could deliver better results, which they failed to do.From the beginning, I expressed dissatisfaction with the design and performance. I was continually brushed off and met with vague explanations, no real accountability, and no meaningful effort to resolve my concerns. Despite their promises, they underdelivered and overchargedjust like they did to another business owner I know personally who had a nearly identical experience with Thryv. On top of that, Im now being charged $358/month, without a clear explanation of what that charge includes. Hosting with ***********, which I had used previously, only costs me $33/month. Their billing is not transparent, and theyve failed to justify the costs. I was never given a fair breakdown, just a *************, because Im disputing these charges and refusing to pay for something that was never delivered as promised, they are threatening to shut down my site entirely. That is completely unethical. If a customer of mine paid for a service I failed to deliver, I would issue a refundnot hold their business ********** requesting a full refund for the service and to be released from any further billing or obligations. Their business practices are misleading and unprofessional, and I no longer wish to be involved with this company in any way.Business Response

On 4/24/25, I placed an order to this company for **************** Capsules for hair growth. The amount I was charged was $34,99, Since then, I have been receiving emails that "the merchandise will be delivered". However, there is no set date for delivery. I have contacted them via email at ******************** I believe they are a FRAUD, as they have NEVER answered any of my emails and I never heard from them again. I am now out of $34.99. These companies need to be stopped to ensure our privacy and protection.Business Response

We understand there may be some confusion. Our company is Thryv, a software and advertising company. We do know there are other companies with the same name. Thrive and other spellings. We do not sell any type of vitamins or anything to that effect. Again, we are a software and print and digital advertising company.Customer Answer

Tried Thryv. My sales and contact person was very knowledgeable and friendly. New website was great. Ease of business listing updates was good. The company failed on several levels though. Mostly Data and email. The analytics were inaccurate and not at all functional. Both ****** and ******** ads were showing good hits which I paid highly for and the thryv platform was still showing 7 days of almost zero activity. when trying to address the problems it took on average 3 business days to get a message back which is not ok in a business setting. Website changes were long and drawn out too. They were in a hurry to get a website up, but as soon as it was up, it seamed like immediate necessary changes were not a priority. when it absolutely should be. Then when I realized I was not getting what i needed and paid for, I cancelled my account. Its a monthly subscription. so being that I paid for the third month you would assume I get the full months service. instead, I paid 3 months of service and received just over 60 days service and then was locked out of their system. Evidently you must agree to losing all access to your paid service even if they owe you a whole months service! I met nothing but friendly people, but found the online "command center" extremely under-delivering and website development showy not growy.. it was not worth my investment.Business Response

Ive been with thrive Yellow Pages for about 20 years and I always paid about $56 a year. But last year I decided I was done with the ads because the Yellow Pages is pretty obsolete. My ***resentative usually calls me to go over my ad to see if there was any changes. I have not heard from my *** in probably two years. But a couple of months ago I received a bill for $364.97. I reached out to the Yellow Pages and told the worker that I did not approve of any ads in the Yellow Pages this year and she informed me the yp books were already out and my ad was in there. I informed her that I did not speak to anyone. I did not approve anything and that I was not paying this money and for her to cancel my account. She told me she would take care of everything. I hung up and thought it done. I received another bill May 18, 2025 for $364.97. This is my last year in business and I am retiring. I want them to take that bill wiper clean and cancel my account.Business Response

To whom it may concern:My name is ***** **********. I am the new bookkeeper for ****** ********* ******************** PLLC.On or around May 1, 2025, two bills were received from The Real Yellow Pages/Thryv dated April 28, 2025. One was for account number ********* in the amount of $163.70. The other was for account number ********* in the amount of $63.03. I called the telephone number listed on the bill: ************, to inquire what services we were getting for this amount of money. The customer service representative I spoke with refused to give me any information, as I was not listed as administrator of the accounts. She verified the name and email address of the administrator, ***** T. *******; ************* She informed me she was going to send him an email, so I would be added onto the account. Mr. ******* never received the email. He then placed a call to the same customer service number. He was informed that the accounts were for our Oak Ridge and ********* offices Yellow Pages listings. Mr. ******* explained that our ********* office closed approximately six years ago. He further stated discontentment with the inaccuracies in our listings, and wanted both accounts closed. He was informed by the customer service representative that an email was sent to him in March of 2024 that he did not answer. The representative informed him since there was no answer to the email, the contracts automatically renewed for another year and he will have you continue paying both statements through December of this year. He explained that he never received the email; just like he never received the email to add me onto the account. He was informed that not receiving the emails did not relieve him of the responsibility of the contracts. We would like our contracts cancelled effective immediately without penalties of any nature. If Thryv does not wish to cancel our contracts, we would like the contact information for their legal department.Business Response

Thank you for allowing us to reach out to our client about their concerns. The concern was the auto renewal of advertising. We spoke with the client and advised of the ways we contact for renewal and the Terms & Conditions of our agreements and the auto renewal policy. We verified where the advertising is appearing also. We did come to a settlement agreement on the remaining charges and the client had no other concerns at this time. Thank you again for allowing us to reach out to assist.Customer Answer

Thryv has been harassing me about a bill that I don't owe. I cancelled service on 2-19-25. The bill in question was paid on 2-10-25 - check #****. We have never missed a payment (see attached) and I don't see how they are claiming that I still owe money.
This all started when Dex Media became Thryv - they started sending me 3 bills a month - 3 different ways - they would send one to the PO Box - which is how they were supposed to bill me, but then they would also send another invoice to my email and on top of that, they would send a third bill to our physical address were we don't receive mail.
I want them to close out everything and stop harrassing us.Business Response

Our contract expired April 2024. Since July 2024 we have tried communicating we no longer want their services, essentially trying to cancel an expired contract. They will say it has been cancelled yet still bill us. We believe we are owed a refund for all amounts paid since April 2024. However, if they will agree to adjust the current balance and cease any further billing, at this point we would be satisfied. It is clear this is not a reputable company.Business Response

Thank you for allowing us to address our clients' concerns about the print advertisement renewal. We had the privilege of speaking with our client only via email and agreed to resolve the issue. Our records reflect that the prior years publication was approved by a signed agreement (attached). The agreement indicates several things..1) the program would run from 11/2022 to 4/2024. 2) the program can automatically renew for the next publication if not canceled before the closing date. The closing date was 3/15/2024 for our 5/2024 Central IL Area Wide directory. The first cancel request was 7/2024, which was just for digital. It wasnt until 3/2025 that we received the cancellation request for print. At that point, we put in place a cancel request for the next publication dated 11/2025. We are thankful for the past business and that we could resolve this issue. Thank you.Customer Answer

We have spoken with our client regarding their concerns via email. A mutual agreement was made a few days ago and our client agreed to pay a final payment to close out this account. Once this amount is paid no further charges will be due and a cancellation is set for all advertising going forward. Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention.

I manage ******************** A small musical instrument and service business in *********** brother bought the store in 2018. At that time I reviewed the bills and canceled unnecessary expenses to reduce the overhead. Advertising with the yellow pages was one of the accounts cut. This was in 2018. I spent the next few years working hard to increase store stock and expand services, and since *** previous owner remained with us to handle the account, I paid little attention to the outgoing bills. Then the pandemic struggles and subsequent product shortages my time was spent trying to keep my store in business focusing on service work. In 2022 I found we were paying THRYV FOR DIGITAL ADVERTIZING. I was further angered to find out that it was for the yellow pages since I'd canceled service years before. I asked the account manager and she'd just been.paying the 109 dollar bill because she'd received it and never asked me about the charges. I called Stryv and requested the billing and services end. Job done. So I thought.I received a call about a month ago from Stryv about an over due bill. I'd forgotten what the company even did and was suspicious since the person on the phone asked for "Mr. ********** ******** is the first name of the previous owner who handles tge accounts. I asked who the company, having forgotten all about STRYV, what it was for. "Digital advertising". I only advertise on ******** via a business page and a free ****** listing. I was told my account representative would be giving me a call. No call. I told ******** to write on the last payment that we no longer wanted services. Got another bill. Called and the customer service person said there was no record of a cancelation. And found out the email on file hasn't been used since 2016. How could we sign up for digital advertising with thryv in 2018, the year we took control, with out my knowledge, and with out them having the current owners name or a current email address?Business Response

We were tricked into subscribing to this company. We believe they are a scam. Not sure what we are even paying for. They renewed our account automatically without our consent. Now they are sending us debt collection notices and they won't let us cancel until 2027.Business Response

Thank you for the opportunity to resolve our client's print advertising complaint. In researching the account, our client was advised the print advertising has been auto-renewing for several years. Our client was notified of the print renewals in advance via emails to her email address, red letter notification on the monthly invoice statement, and acknowledgement letters advising of the pending due date. Our records reflect a cancellation was submitted on 05/14/2025 when our client contacted our ****************** over this dispute. Besides the submittal of the cancellation to prevent future auto-renewing, our client was offered a 50% adjustment which was declined.
Based on all of the above, we have went ahead and adjusted the account in full as a matter of resolving this issue. We have attached our documentation proving our client was given notification the past several years. Thank you

I am rejecting this response because: The company will not provide me with a copy of the original contract in question that that they claim is binding me to the advertising subscription. I have no idea when it was signed or who signed it and neither do they. I also have no idea what "advertising" we have been paying for. Yellow page books are no longer distributed in our area. I asked them to provide proof of the advertising and they have not been able to do that either.Business Response

I have been trying to cancel my acct with them/also being billed as The Real Yellow Pages - I am not sure why we are being billed $159.05 per month - what that would be for. When I called to cancel the service I was told it would not cancel until 3/31/2027 - So two years from now. She said that was the contract. I am not sure what contract since no contract has ever been signed or approved. We have had this service for quite awhile and it should have been stopped a long time ago. It seems like once they get your money it can never be stopped. I do not understand how they can say you are under a contract when nothing was signed. Just because they say you are?? This seems like one of the biggest scams around. Once you get in they think it is for life. I do not expect any refund just want all billing to stop and my account closed. For good!Business Response

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to speak with our client over their print advertising auto-renewing and cancellation. We spoke to **** today, and advised of the following:(1) the print advertising had been auto-renewing since 2019, as it was last authorized by **** via telephone in 2018. (2) Our records show where 6 emails were sent over a 30 day timeframe to ****** email address advising of the upcoming renewal and to contact our office for any changes or cancellations, however, he never opened the emails. (3) This year, their Business Advisor called four times and left messages regarding the renewal deadline.
We confirmed the print advertising had been submitted for termination yesterday when she called into our ****************** and provided the reference number for this transaction. After reviewing all the information, a mutual agreement was made with our client stating they were satisfied and this was resolved.
