************** promised an Oral History book for over $500. The book failed to include over 500 names, including mine. The publisher created a poorly designed website for the 500 or more whose names were not included but the website disappeared after two days. Neither ****** nor the publisher would provide the website address when I requested it. ****** never responded to my letters but that's another story.

The book IN MY WORDS told by veterans was a great book of memories from so many veterans. Unfortunate my husband passed before the book was sent to our home so he did not see what the book was all about. The amount of money required even before the book was published was a huge amount for a person on a small pension but I understand prices for printing, paper and, the effort that was done by the writers does cost. Thank you for your efforts to bring about such a book.

It is unfortunate that veteran-oriented social establishments continue to partner with this company. I don't know what kind of work they've done in the past (hope it was solid work) and what they stand for (preserving history) I actually support. What I don't support is deceptive advertising campaigns directed to veterans. In my case, the *** has partnered with them to do an oral history study on *** members to preserve the history/stories. "Cool!" I thought. The mailed out postcards, though, are framed in such a way that the *** needs your immediate attention in the matter to "verify your record." Just a quick call-in to make sure their membership records are accurate. Cool, no problem, I'll do that.Spoke with a nice lady on the phone who verified my home *** post and some basic info. Then began asking questions like "Why did you join the military?" "What was the thing your were proudest about serving?" "How long did you serve for?" "Why did you join?" etc.I spent about 20 minutes on the phone answering questions and telling some stories. So I'm thinking, "Wow, this is a lot of info, is she writing this down?" I ask if the call is being recorded and she states, "Yes Sir, it is being recorded." Oh, okay cool, probably should have been asked for permission first, but okay. So after all of this... the sale. She states they are putting together this book of veterans stories to preserve history, etc... and that it could be mine for two easy payments of $249. I was floored. It isn't about the price. It isn't even about being recorded. It is about the messaging. Tricking veterans into thinking they need to call in to verify something, yet it is actually a sales funnel. The *** needs to fix this and fix it fast. I'm a younger veteran, but I could only imagine a ******* vet telling his story, digging deep, only at the end of the call to have his story sold back to him. Sure, they ask if they can use your story... but again, that isn't the point.Disgraceful.

The *** Department of ************* partnered with PCI in the spring of 2023, one of dozens of ***s to launch an Oral History Project. PCI is a family owned business based in ******, **, that has published directories for veterans organizations, educational institutions, fraternities, sororities, and military groups across the nation for over 100 years. This project allows the *** to hear about your personal experiences and explain how the *** has helped shape lives. All members are encouraged to participate, regardless of whether or not they purchase a product no purchase is ever necessary. The *** benefits from this program in a few different ways: Updated Information allows them to effectively communicate with and engage members Legacy sharing and collecting stories preserves the history of their organization Revenue generates membership revenue for member programs Pride wearing apparel shows support and love for their organization All of the calls into our center are recorded, and a notification about that is played as soon as the call into the center begins before a PCI associate comes on the line. We take tremendous pride in the work we have been asked to do by the service organizations that are dedicated to serving and recognizing our nation's veterans. The mission of our publications is to capture the stories and photos of those who valiantly served our country, producing a historical document for future generations and for each veteran's children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to gain an appreciation for the sacrifice, perseverance and service of their beloved family member. Our quality and client experience teams are specifically dedicated to helping ensure we provide an excellent experience to our clients, and we are fierce about our standard of service and the experience we provide on each and every call. We review hundreds of calls each week, scoring them to ensure that we have clearly communicated every time, that we have correctly recorded each veterans service and their story, and most importantly that we have been kind and thoughtful and respectful every time. Our goal is for every veteran to open the final publication and be just as proud of it as we are.

This " family owned" business is nothing but a high pressure sales company. They constantly harrass our American Legion members with post cards, emails, phone calls, and text messages. When you contact them it is nothing but high pressure sales similar to an insurance or used car salesman. I would not use them for anything

The American Legion Department of Texas contracted with Publishing Concepts to gather the histories of their members, launching an Oral History Project ;in late 2022. Information about that project is on their website here: https://txlegion.org/oralhistoryproject/. To date, we've collected over 19,000 stories. If you'd like us to remove you from our mailing/contact list for this program (which does not impact your communication from The American Legion Department of Texas), just let us know.

We're so sorry to see you're not pleased with the Phi Sigma Kappa Oral History Publication. We included over 750 stories in the printed edition and over 5,000 in the digital version. If you'll contact us at ************** we'll be happy to issue a refund for your publication - we simply need to confirm the mailing address for that check.

I am so upset by this scamming company and the fact that they prey on the elderly and veterans. My husband fell for the idea that they were going to produce "the new Military Oder of the Purple Heart 90th Anniversary Membership Directory." For his $400 to $500 he has received a tee shirt and a sweatshirt. He has been waiting since he ordered the directory in May of 2021.
After reading the comments to the BBB I am shocked that they are still in business.

Last year, **** launched a membership program with PCI. These programs happen every few years and **** posts on social media to advise members of what the mailings looks like, that the program is legitimate, etc. An example post may be found here: *************************************************************** ************************

I tried to leave this review at the website that was provided on the post card that came along with the Oral History Project book. I am a graduate of *******************, the organization associated with the project. PCI requested feedback at ******************************* and the url/link does not exist or is no longer working.

I do not have an issue with the Oral History Project itself. The idea/concept is a good one. I am also OK with donating to my university. However, after receiving the book almost a year later....I was disappointed in the very poor editing. Questions were asked of me and I am not sure if the answers were recorded or if notes were taken, but there were errors. My current job title was incorrect and I know I would not have stated it incorrectly. The way my story and others were written, were very juvenile.....sentences did not flow well and just not professional level editing, Based on the reviews I have read...at this point I do not know whether ******************* was even a party to reviewing and editing the info collected. I would think that an institution of that level would not want a poor quality product out there...linked to their organization. It's very disappointing, and I would never share the book with anyone or take any pride in it; which is the opposite of what I had hoped. My 13 year old son could have written these personal summaries much better. Sentence structure is terrible and the flow of the information presented is just way off.

This will definitely not be a coffee table book in my home. It was a wasted investment. I hope the university used their share of the funds for a good cause, and received more of the funds than PCI earned.

PCI....invest in a better editing and customer service staff. I am sure your company earns more than enough to take more pride in their products, etc. Fine tune your process to alleviate so many disgruntled reactions. The process is broken if so many clients are unhappy with the outcome.

We're so sorry to learn you're not pleased with the final product. The Oral History Project was a year-long endeavor to gather the stories of Kean alumni and over 6K folks participated in some way. Throughout the course of the program, every call was recorded and transcribed so that printed stories could be produced, ideally following review by each alumnus/a. We have a 100% money-back guarantee and are issuing a full refund. That check will be sent to the address we confirmed with you and to which we sent the publication, and you should receive it in the next week or so. We hope you will continue to support Kean and participate in future programs - we are so thankful for their partnership.

The southern accent was the tip off. Somehow my very northern high school was drawn into providing my address. I talked to the lady for a while but declined to purchase anything. Looking at the comments here it is clear that it was the correct decision. Why the school gave them my address is another issue...

Evanston Township High School partnered with PCI in the summer of 2022 and launched an alumni census/directory program in September. Information about that partnership and program is on their ********************************************, and it says in part, "Every 5 years, the ETHS Alumni Association works with Publishing Concepts to update our Alumni Directory. Our goal is to be able to reach and connect with all of our graduates. Keeping the directory current allows us to reduce the postage cost for our newsletter and "Keep in Touch" with you via the KIT moving forward. If you receive an email or call from Publishing Concepts, please know this is a LEGITIMATE request. Please help us by updating your information." We've updated your record so you won't receive any further contact about the program, and apologize for any inconvenience.

PCI is Fortune 100 company that partners with hundreds of colleges, universities, high schools and service organizations each year. We speak with approximately 10,000 people each day and do our absolute best to make each experience positive, regardless of anyone's decision to purchase a product. All of the information we confirm or gather is provided to the school for their records so that they can communicate with alumni in the most effective ways.
