I am filing this complaint due to my extremely poor experience as a resident at ****** at ******** in ********, ** APT 1111. Since moving in, I have been forced to relocate to three different units due to ongoing maintenance and livability issues . These relocations were all due to issues beyond my control, and management was fully aware of them. Despite the instability and inconvenience Ive endured as a paying tenant, when I recently submitted a 30-day move-out notice, I was told that I am now required to extend my lease due to not giving a 60-day notice. I acknowledge that the lease may state 60 days, but given the extreme circumstances Ive experienced multiple forced moves and lack of adequate living conditions I believe management is acting in bad faith. I am not longer on my first original lease I signed nor did I receive documentation about a notice or renewal. It feels as though this complex is trying to take advantage of me or pressure me into extending my stay against my will, despite the fact that their own negligence has made my time here extremely difficult.I am requesting that my original 30-day notice be honored, and that I be allowed to vacate without being penalized or coerced into additional lease terms. I have already made arrangements to move based on my notice, and I am no longer comfortable continuing my tenancy here.I am also in the process of reporting this situation to other housing authorities as needed.Initial Complaint

My name is ***** *********, a resident at ************************* (managed by Asset Living). I'm filing this complaint due to a $1,000 gift card incentive that was repeatedly promised to me in writing by ******* *****, Property Manager, and later denied despite multiple confirmations.I signed my lease in January ********************************** May 2023, I learned friends I referred to Aspen received $1,000 gift cards. I inquired with the office, and instead of being told I was ineligible, I was assured I would receive one and was asked to wait until August. On Sept. 4, 2023, ******* emailed me: We are waiting for Community Rewards to approve the funds and issue them. You will receive an electronic gift card via email. On Sept. 26, she emailed: This is still being processed we are looking for these to be issued in the next week or two.On Dec. 3, she confirmed: Ownership let us know that gift cards should be issued this week I know its been a long time coming! These are clear, written assurances from a verified company representativenot vague or automated responses. Yet in March 2024, I received a call from Asset Living corporate saying that since it wasnt in my lease, I cant assume I was eligible. That completely ignores the specific confirmations I received.I have all emails/screenshots. This is not a misunderstandingit is a clear case of misrepresentation and failure to honor written assurances. At no point during these months was I informed that I was ineligible. I was not assuming anythingthese were explicit written confirmations from the property manager, acting on behalf of the company. I waited patiently for months, only to receive a call from Asset Living corporate in March 2024, denying the gift card entirely, stating that if its not on the lease, you cant assume. This statement completely ignores the clear, non-automated, written communication I received multiple times from their representative.Initial Complaint

March 20, 2025. I requested my a/c be fixed as to that point it had no been working for a few days. I put in the request. I then leave to go out of town, upon returning the temperature in my apartment was 85. I then tried to go to the front office on April 4th to speak to them about this. Nothing. There were about 7 people up there all waiting to speak to the management. There office was closed and has been closed for days. They won't pick up their own number . I pay way to much for rent for this to be happening. I'm a very patient person, but almost a month is ridiculousInitial Complaint

Date of transaction: 03/28/25 Place of Business: Town Parc ************ person @ Town Parc: ********* ******** Amount of transaction: $375.00 Due to a major loss of income last year, my *********** were in search of a less costly apartment to rent. Town Parc is a govt. affiliated, apartment community that provides housing for lower income families. The rent includes water, which is great. We were under the impression the rent would not exceed $1000/mo.Initially we were turned down, due to exceeding the income guidelines. In her effort to help, Ms. ******** offered to fudge the numbers on the application so that we would be approved. The offer sounded too good to be true & dishonest. We were pressured to give a $375 deposit to hold an available apt. My husband reluctantly signed the application, but it was not binding/valid, due to the fact that my ***************** were co-applicants & had not yet signed. He handed over the cashiers check to Ms. ********* and upon asking confirmation of the rent amount, she replied it was $1230/mo. We currently pay $1025/mo. She insists my husband knew the amount through the entire process. Its not believable due to the fact we were looking to pay less & not more. My husband called Ms. ******** back right after lunch & informed her we wouldnt be taking the apt & would like our money back. She claimed the money had already been deposited even though it wasnt the end of business day. She said that Accounting would send us a refund check. On the following Monday, 03/31/25, I went to the office to visit Ms ******** for info on how to get in touch with accounting. She claimed no knowledge of where to call accounting or where it was even located. There was no acct. **** in office. I believe we were intentionally misled by Ms. ******** to fill units. I also believe this is a common practice for her. Almost as though we were scammed with no recourse.Initial Complaint

I have lived at ********** for about 4 months. I moved in, in January and I have had problems ever since. I have been very patient and have given them plenty of time to fix certain issues but they all take forever or they just don't get done at all. Ever since I got here, I've had crazy electrical bills. I live in a one bedroom, one bath apartment with just myself and I am not home basically at all because of work and school. My outlets do not work and have notified the agency since the beginning but they get some guy out to turn on and off the outlets and fixes the one I have issues with, but then another outlet short circuits. They have been doing it everytime I complain about it. My bills are 278, 231, and now 170. Still, it is crazy high for a one bed one apartment. I don't even have large appliances. Also, when I came into this apartment, washer/dryer wasn't linked up. Had to fix it myself. Leaks in the dishwasher, refrigerator, and bathroom that took over a WEEK to fix. Reported it as an emergency and no one showed up until I had to make a call again two days later. Oven vent also was broken since I moved in, just got recently fixed 2 months later. I had to keep complaining in order for them to even come out to fix it. Currently, I have sewage coming out my sink. The agency workers think it's a joke. I came up to the office showing them pictures and they want to argue saying "That water is clear." The sewage came out and I notified the maintenance immediately. They had someone come out and just clean it up, no fixing. The sewage (with the bubbles) was the aftermath of when he left. He came in cleaned a little bit then said "yeah its the garbage disposal, we'll get that replaced tomorrow." Next day, they didn't come until I called them to fix a SEWAGE problem which is a hazard. I talked to the manager about releasing me from my lease or moving me to a different unit and she said that it cannot be done and that I have to put 2 months. This is unlivable.Initial Complaint

I paid $240 to apply for an apartment which I was then denied but they will not respond to my calls for my refund. I waited 30 days and then I have still been ignored. I applied and was denied on Feb 5, 2025 and then I was told to wait 30 days for refund. I called mult times since the 30 days has been up. They say they will email me from corporate. I have received nothing but junk emails advertising for their apartments. Im fed up. This is illegal!Customer Answer

Ive been living at ********** apartments since August, 22 2024 and since then until now there has been several things wrong with the apartment. Prior to moving In I was having problems with this apartment but with me only being 21 and this being my first apartment Im not thinking about all the red flags cause I needed to get out of my mothers home. When I first moved in the apartment wasnt ready there were no k**** on any of the doors or cabinets ,dish washer had dirty water in it and didnt have the racks in there ,there was a really bad bug problem which when I seen the model apartment before applying I seen no bugs, and the cabinet under the sink was exposed to the outside. They told me that they would fix everything right away and it took them two weeks almost three weeks to come and finish. Two months later my roof in my living room was leaking dirty water which then didnt fix until two weeks. Three months later in November I found mold in the closet where the water heater is and I told the office they didnt come until the roof ended up falling in, they fixed the roof and it looked like they just painted over the mold so I had to call them back to do it correctly and they didnt get the mold at the bottom of the door until they came back the 2nd time. In the same month of November I told them that I was hearing scratching on my wall and they said they will send pest control and nobody came. The next day when I went to go look there was a whole in my wall there it looked like something tried to get in and the hole is still there to this day. I pay 5 dollar every moth for pest control for nobody to come and I still have a bad bug problem. Now Im ceiling in dripping dirty water and its been getting worse nobody has can to fix it and I can not live like this. I have a 5 year old son , I was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma August of 2024, Im working l, and Im in collage. This whole experience has been so stressful then I feel like there over charging meInitial Complaint

The exact day i moved into The Trails of ******************************, my lease went missing.. I paid ***** deposit. The apartment ownership changed hands that very day. The two ladies that helped me get the townhouse quit. The new office people claimed they could not find my lease.. the old owners Willowbrook claimed they also did not have a copy of my lease. I came into these apartments through ****************************** Relocation Assistance Program and my case manager did not get a copy of the lease either. I have lived here since June of 2024 and I was charged ******* due to the apartments stating that I didnt pay a months rent. I paid it and now in March I just received another statement that I owe ****** more plus March rent. They have tacked on a lot of junk fees and I have called every agency for help with no luck. The new apartments charge only ****** deposit . So Im confused why the new owners dont return the ****** difference in my deposit when I have emails proving that the ***** was paid through my allowance with residence relocation assistance program?
