On 1/27/2023 I moved from ******** **, to ******* **. I called my rent a center on east main in ********* **, and asked them to come pick up their electronics, due to me being evicted and unable to afford them! They said they would pick them up, and they never did or did and are lying about it, but they have been harassing me verbally and physically , and this last time I called the police because I was assaulted now they are trying to take me to court saying I stoled the items! I have spoke to the store manager as well, and he is backing up his employees! I did what I was suppose to do on my contract, and now they are trying to charge me with theft for their electronics! I do have 2 beds through them and am willing to pay for those since I took them with me, but they won't take my payment until I get the electronics up to date!

      Dear ************:

************ entered into a written contract in the form of a rental agreement that contained all disclosures mandated by applicable state law.

Upon review of this complaint, we can confirm we previously were engaged in the police matter ************ references and they determined she did not have sufficient evidence to support her claims.

Rent-A-Center has reviewed this complaint and determined ************************ primary concern is regarding certain contractual obligations stated in the Agreement, which she failed to comply with. It was ************************ responsibility to ensure the property was maintained in good condition and we are not at fault for her abandoning it.

On March 18th, 2023 Rent A Center came to my house. My total bill was $12.78 and it was due on March 18th, 2023 (Same day they showed up). My account was not past due, in fact I already paid off the bed I got from them and only owed on a bed frame. Total amount owed to them for the bed frame was $61.39 (This amount has been paid off and was paid on March 18th, 2023.). Around 10:20am on March 18th, 2023 we received a knock on the door from ****. **** is a driver for Rent A Center. **** was greeted at our door by my father in law and **** stated "I'm not leaving the property until you pay what's owed. Those are my instructions." My husband got wind of this discussion via our ring doorbell camera that records audio and video. He went out there and asked **** why he was here when the bill is due today. **** stated "I was sent here and you're on my past due list".My husband pulled up the Rent A Center account on his phone and showed **** the due date.**** was not listening and didn't care.My husband then went back inside the house and called the store. The person who answered was ******* My husband asked why they sent **** out here when our bill wasn't due. ******* got upset and stared "I'm not the one, I'm not the one, I know where you stay."******** then hung up on my husband. At 10:32am ******** speeds through our neighborhood stops in the middle of the road in his personal vehicle.******** knocks on the door and was greeted by my father in law. He stated to my father law "Where's he at. Where's he at.Tell him to come out right now. I'm here."My husband went outside and was perfectly calm with him at first. ******** had arms crossed, chest puffed out and was yelling at the top of his lungs. Screaming "IM NOT THE ONE IM NOT THE ONE".My husband then walked away and opened the front door and yelled back to him "Get the heck of my property".******** then started to scream out racial slurs saying "Broke A** Ni*** and some other nasty things I will not post on this review.

      Dear ************:

Our office is in receipt of your email regarding the above referenced Better Business Bureau ("BBB") complaint.

We have contacted ************** and ************** and provided our deepest apologies. Rent-A-Center does not condone the actions of the employee mentions and he has since been terminated upon receipt of this complaint. We appreciate their attention to this matter.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Thank you for your response, unfortunately this solution does not rectify this situation. There were others involved in this matter not just the employee you terminated.

      Here are some hard facts:

      1. You broke your own Code of Business Conducts and Ethics rules. These rules were implemented and written by your company. Not only did Rent A Center break *********** Laws they also broke the rules they wrote.

      2. Your company has a track record of breaking these rules (Code of Business Conducts and Ethics) and also breaking state laws. If you spend time reading your own companies reviews you would see this. Time after time, Rent A Center uses intimidation tactics and unlawful ways to collect money from customers. *************** had a Rent A Center employee call her at 5:00pm on a week day asking for an early payment. An EARLY payment.

      3. This behavior observed on March 18th was behavior that has been seen before. By me, my family, and neighbors... Also by other customers. This behavior was taught to the man you terminated. I know this due to the fact, the branch manager of this store condones this behavior. He acts just like his employees do.

You think just by firing a low level employee this situation will go away? I respect the fact you terminated the man that did this, but there were others involved who were equally as bad. Rent A Center you don't understand the seriousness behind this situation.

************** has rejected our response contending that Rent-A-Center has violated our "own Code of Business Conducts and Ethics rules". As stated, Rent-A-Center does not condone this behavior, and has since opened up an internal investigation. We apologize to ************** for this experience and we will work to ensure the proper training is conducted moving forward.

I am filling a complaint against the store manager at Rent A Center by name of ****** or somewhere of that nature for Harassment. I was 13 days late making my payment due to the financial hardship and state of our economy, This is the 2nd incident with this store manager. The first incident happened after shortly burying my mother which I informed the store that I was going to be late. Her response was I should not get merchandise that I can not afford. This time she sent gentleman to my house twice in 1 day threatening to pick up the refrigerator after being told all I needed was ********************************************************************************************** full which totaled out to be $219.00. that was paid on 03/17/2023 at 5:23pm. The gentlemen she sent to my house was very understanding and stating that she is advising them to not leave my property without a payment or for them to take the refrigerator. I do understand that I agreed to a lease and normally my payments are made on time if not on time then I do communicate and even open the door when they come. I would give this store zero stars but I do appreciate the gentlemen and Mrs. ***** because she speak with customers with manors and is not rude in anyway. I will be looking contacting cooperate regarding this issue at hand and seeing what else can be done moving forward. I wanted to start here first.

On February 3rd, 2023 at 12:53 pm, I received a call from the phone number of **************; AcceptanceNOW call for a payment that I had to do. I told them that I wanted to pay off the full amount of the rental-purchase agreement that it is still under the 120 days early purchase. They told me that I could only pay it in the store *********************************************************. I went to the store on Sunday 5th, 2023. They said that the full amount I owed them is $1788.32. I have paid them $1,032.15 in total. The total purchase amount is $2,258.99 under the 120 days early purchase. Their math don't match with mine. They said that I owe $1788.32 but my math comes to $1,400. They tried to explain why the amount was higher than what I thought but the 120 days includes a 12% for the purchase. When the man that that was there did the math, he did 12% for each payment that I made for the past 3 months, the 12% percent should be add only once and he did it for each payment I made. Also, I did not agree for the "Optional Liability Damage Waiver (LDW.)" But they did it anyway. If nothing gets solve I will like to have a refund and I will return the furniture back.

I hope we can solve this problem soon. This is not being fair to me. It was my first and last time working with AcceptanceNOW. I never sign a contract by hand. In fact, I never signed anything. I only agreed with what they told me verbally. My mistake was not reading each page of the contract carefully. I have attached the Optional Liability Damage Waiver contract. The contract papers were sent to my email, already signed with my first name and first last name (***************************.) It was all through technology. I never agreed to have the Liability Damage Waiver, I did know that it's optional and that's why exactly I said "no." I was very clear when I spoke to the young man who assisted me that day that I didn't want the Optional Liability Damage Waiver. However they added it even though I had said no to. Yes, I have received calls from AcceptanceNOW, located in *******, ******** and I have answered them. But those calls were not to offer me a solution, just to charge me. Again, I'm hoping for a fair solution.

I received a call from AcceptanceNOW and they were charging me $1,400 for the sofas and they gave me the option that if I didn't pay, they would pick up the sofas and I told them that it was fine; to pick them up. When I received the sofas, they were not in good conditions. Then they sent me an email saying that they were lowering it to 600 dollars, I prefer that they pick up the sofas.

I bought a sofa from this establishment in 2018. I also bought an extended warranty with it. The sofa had a recliner on each end.On 7/7/2022 both recliners stopped working. I filed a complaint with pure promise, the warranty center. They sent a tech out to check on the sofa. Both transformers were blown and they would order two more. These were ordered in August 2022. ByDecember they still have not been delivered and pure promise agreed to an exchange for a new sofa. I went to value city furniture, and they had the exact same sofa just in a different fabric. I was fine with this, and we proceeded to finance through acceptance now for the delivery charge, and a new warranty on the sofa. On 12/27/2022 the new sofa was delivered but the delivery men wouldn't take the old sofa away. I said this is an exchange, leave the new one and take the old one but they refused and VCF said they couldn't help me.No one will pick up this sofa because it is in my house. It has to be taken to the curb.I'm 65,live alone and have no one to take this out so it is still in my small apartment. The other problem is with the finance department at VCF and Acceptance Now.I signed the original contract on 12/19/22.**** from VCF said the amount I owed would be changed after they received a check from Pure Promise and then all I would owe would be the delivery charge and warranty for Pure Promise on the new sofa plus tax.I told him I wanted a new contract sent to me(hard copy)when he received the check.I've never gotten that,my phone calls have not been returned and I keep getting emails from Acceptance Now.Yesterday I called them and spoke with ******* who called **** and got back with me today. They said I owe 789.35.I'm not a finance major but how does 180$ for delivery and 200$ for the warranty plus 6% tax add up to almost 800$'******* said she is in charge of finance but just started in January and this is what **** said I owed even though I wouldn't be happy about it.I'm not.

I have been dealing with this company for a few months. I've never had any issues up until November, 19 2022. I had bought a tv and when it arrived to my house it was broken. They came back and picked it up and gave me a rental tv until my new one came in. The manager of the store said that he had ordered it and it would be delivered in about 6-8 weeks. I waited and waited, never heard anything and even tried calling and got the same answer, that they were waiting for it to come in. Finally I called again, well after the 6-8 week mark and the manager had transferred to somewhere else and I had spoken to the new manager who then informed me that the order for my tv was never done because the office wasn't allowed to order anything. He said he was looking into and never got a call back. I then reached out to customer service because I just wanted answer as to why this wasnt done, who said I would get a call within 24-48 hours from the regional manager and after 4 tries that still has happened. I am very annoyed at this point. I haven't had any issues with my washer and dryer that I had received from rent a center nor had this problem prior. I just want my money back at this point for the tv. Its nothing but lies. Its now the middle of March and I still haven't received a call. When I called today the lady I spoke too said they had called me several times and honestly its a lie because I use my phone for work so I answer every call no matter what and she told me that they have ordered the tv. That's not what I wanted. I made sure I said I need a higher up manager to call me but I am extremely disappointed with this place and with the customer service they provide. I just want this taken care of!! Agreement # ***********

This company charged me 6 dollars bi-weekly for insurance for 3 years and when I finally decided to use the insurance I was told that I've owned the product for too long for anything to be covered. I've tried cancelling before but the website offers no way to cancel the recurring charges. When I originally purchased the product I was not told I would be charged indefinitely or how to cancel, which has lead to several hundred dollars taken from me unknowingly.

I have not received any phone calls, emails, or any other form of communication from rent a center. They are correct that I signed a rental agreement, but that has nothing to do with my complaint. I was sold something advertised only as insurance, paid for said insurance for several years and when the time came to use it I was told I've had the item for too long and that nothing would fall under warranty anymore. This is only the most recent of my consistently unpleasant interactions with your company. Your employees have shady business practices and predatory sales techniques. You take advantage of your customers and pressure them into signing contracts they don't fully understand. I'm sure everything is in the fine print and legally you have everything covered and I don't have a leg to stand on so here's my white flag. You're rated **** stars with the better business bureau with nearly *************************** the last 3 years so clearly I'm not the only customer that feels cheated. I am no longer seeking any form of resolution. I wish for this to serve only as a complaint and to close the matter. I only rejected your response as I did not receive any contact from you as you claim. If you wish to contact me further do it through email. If you want to offer me store credit, don't bother. Nobody ever wants store credit.
