We had purchased a dining set as well as a tv from Rent A Center in Revere, Ma. We opted not to have their LDW which is additional insurance on the product. I worked at the time for the same company that does the financing for rent to own. We made a down payment and was required to set up auto payments. We finished paying off the table with never a missed payment. We wanted to see how many were left on the tv. We opened our auto receipts sent to email. We noticed that we were being charged for the LDW insurance. The entire time on the table set and the tv. We fished out our contract just in case we had made some type of mistake. We did not. We did not sign the separate part of the agreement where it clearly states to sign if we would like to have this coverage. We called the store to inform them and they denied knowing about it. So we called corporate and they stated they would have the store manager call. They did call, for a payment, and we would bring up the issue to which their response was always, they would have the manager call us back. We did this song and dance for about a month and a half including with corporate. Finally, the manager calls to inform us that we were past due. We told them what they owed us and it could be given in cash or put towards the payments, which is realistic. The manager Christian, Instead of letting us speak, he was trying to talk over us and talk circles around us about how it doesn't matter and we signed a contract. Yes, but our signature was required to sign up for the additional insurance, authorizing them to debit that additional amount. Again, he had no answer, no solution, just droned on and on. He said he would call the next day with a solution. He called to day and said he was going to schedule a pick up of the merchandise which we refused. He said he had tried to give us a solution the night before. He most certainly did not. He said, and I kid you not, "it doesn't matter if you signed it we will do whatever we want."Business Response

Dear Ms. *****
The Customer entered into a written contract in the form of a rental agreement that contained all disclosures mandated by applicable state law.
After a review of the complaint, it appears the customer's primary concern is regarding certain contractual obligations stated in the Agreement, which the customer failed to comply with.
Given the facts as stated, we consider this matter closed.

Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, 2022/09/28) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The company did not reach out to resolve this issue. We clearly have kept with all of our responsibilities with this contract. I sent photos that are clearly visible we did not sign the specific page they formatted offering additional insurance. It was not lumped in as a whole in the contract. It was separate. And not signed. Therefore it is theft and fraud. If the company refuses to recognize and rectify this, we will file civil and or criminal complaint. They want their payment every month which they have always received, but fight it when they are clearly wrong. This is not how business is done.

Hello,
My name is ******* ******. I entered into a 90-day same as cash rental lease transaction with Acceptance Now in Rooms to Go, Greensboro North Carolina. Per the contract, I have been attempting to return the furniture and close out the lease agreement. I was asked to provide pictures of the furniture to prove it was in good condition, I did so and have not heard back. After repeat phone calls to the local office, customer care line, and emails to the district manager I have no other options to exhaust. I have asked for the phone number for the district manager, and have been told that district managers do business off of their personal phones and those numbers cannot be given out. The customer care line refuses to connect you with a supervisor and continues to put in more "tickets" for management to reach back out to me. I have another payment of $194 due on September 10th. I have made multiple requests to have the furniture picked up before the next payment date so that I am no longer responsible for payments on furniture I do not wish to keep.
The company has consistently, over the past week and a half given me the run around about management reaching out to me, and no one has disclosed any information. I move out of my apartment in less than two weeks, and I cannot take the furniture with me, nor can I leave it in the unit. I would like to have someone call me to schedule a pick-up date for the furniture and have my lease closed out, a right which I can exercise per the contract. Thank you.

I'm depressed and suicidal after dealing with the unauthorized use of my personal information.
Which resulted in this unauthorized item on my credit report. I sent letters over 30 days ago and they failed to get back with me with sufficient validation. This account violates the FDCPA and must be deleted immediately because those are serious violations and I could be compensated for them.Business Response

I have my payment set up as auto pay with rent a center. They randomly showed up to the house to get the payment.( was not aware my autopsy wasn't going through) I called the manager and spoke to him stating I didn't have the money on me but could go deposit it into my bank account so they could take it out as I am supposed to be in quarantine) the driver they sent out stated "I don't know how your going to feel about this but I just got off the phone with my boss and was told to follow you to the bank) I feel harassed by this company trying to follow me to places as I had just got off the phone with the manager agreeing to me paying it the next day. I've had multiple complaints since I got an item from them. They gave me the wrong mattress they gave me the wrong boards I had to have them come out twice to fix mistake they madeBusiness Response

On 9/4/21 i purchased a couch with RENT A CENTER that came with bed bugs and holes in it. I reached out and got nothing but a "someone will go fix it" from the owner Patrick and Dell. No one came to fix it so i called again the next day. Patrick answered and was giving me an attitude the whole time and said someone will come pick up the couch and replace it. Which they did, but the bed bugs had then infested my carpets which i had to evacuate for a week to get corrected. Fast foward, i moved in March of 2022 and updated my information with them. I thought everything was okay but it only got worse. July 8 2022 is my son's birthday a day prior the manager Patrick and i were going back and forth because he was saying i owed money that i didnt owe. I told then i would make my payment but i will be coming in on the 8th to make it so we can look at my charges together and i could get a clear understanding and be in the same oage because it wasnt making sense. Once i said that he got mad and started charging ALL the cards i have used while being with RAC he proceeded to tell me after business hours (even when i told him to stop texting me until the next business day) "its not our fault you cant afford your bills" and then charged me $259 when my balance was $133. He charged a family members card and not even mine. The next day i went up to the store and asked why he felt that was okay and that he took from my sons birthday he then told me "we dont care about your son or his birthday pay your bills on time" we then started arguing and he said "im not available for people like you" keep in mind i am a women of color. I then asked what is that supposed to mean and his wife jumped up and kicked me out and then was yelling while i was walking out the store "pay your bills and we wouldnt have this problem broke *****" and i called the police. The police were unavle to do anything because its a civil issue. Fast foward, i got covid. My wife communicated. They called and said ..Business Response

I am a customer of the rent a center store located at 1291 Old Courthouse Sq.
Martinsburg, WV XXXXX. I have never NOT paid my ****, However I have been late numerous times due to:
A) The billing schedule seldom coincides with my pay schedule and
B) They do not send a payment notice in any form i.e.: USPS, EMAIL etc.
But I have never, not paid it. This particular store charges exorbitant interest rates and **** call numerous time after said payment is late at anytime during business hours. Even during a persons hour of work. I have explained to them to no avail that I cannot receive phone calls during my work hours and have asked them to cease calling me, to which they respond." We have no way to note this on your file", even if that is true they could make a note on my paper file . This total disregard of respect, led to me getting a two (2) day suspension without pay last month and a final warning which **** lead to termination if it happens again. I explained this to to them and got an reply of basically "oh well" just not worded exactly. This led me to block their number. However, They *** still leave a voicemail. They have even sent two rough looking characters to my place of residence demanding a payment, which made me feel personally and physically threatened. Now I am late again and If it wasn't for me losing two (2) days pay on my last check, my payment would have been on time. Now this blatant harassment has started again., After the two (2) thugs incident last month. I am once again in fear of my safety or my residence being burglarized while I am at work.Business Response

on 8/4/22 I contacted Rent a Center Poughkeepsie. Everything was great until I looked a credit card charge. I was told that the monthly rental would be $128.49. But my card was charged $143.90. I called and spoke to the manager. She said the I signed for an OPTIONAL discount membership. The page for the option has the charged in TINY FINE PRINT that you need a magnify glass to see. ALL of the other charges are BOLD BLACK PRINT,
I was NEVER told about the additional charges or told that they were optional. They manager told me that the ONLY way that the fee reversed is to pick up the refrigerator and cancel the contract. My current refrigerator was purchased in April of the year and has a bad compressor. The part is on national backorder and could take as long as month the repair. I have and additional warranty that cover the rental but only what is on the FACE of the rental agreement. This I feel is a hidden charge that I was never told about and will not get rememberest for.Business Response
