Terrible company. Will trick into not canceling before the short time frame and when you do cancel they decline your refund request because you went over the time limit. Very very sketchy. Not only are they thrives their website is difficult to navigate and results are all over the place. Do not trust them and whatever you do dont give them your credit card. Just terrible!!!

Horrible business practices. I ordered a free trial membership per their website. I canceled membership in less than ********************************************************* Low a behold I was billed *****. After calling ancestry.com and explaining the circumstances, the gentleman could see that I did cancel within hours. He said that he was sorry, but that I ordered the World Membership and that wasnt free. I explained the website said two weeks free for the general membership and world (the third membership was not free). He still would not credit me back the *****. This is teetering on fraud in my opinion.

was buying a gift test, they automatically signed me up for the ongoing research charges. Next thing I know I have been charge $80. Tried to find a customer service number but all they have is a worthless FAQ that let's write an email and get no response. Makes you what more they are doing with your DNA. Glad it wasn't mine.

Like many others' experience but even worse: I never even signed up for this service at all, trial or otherwise. Someone used my credit card information to start an account. I found out after a few months of being billed. **************** said they couldn't locate an account using my info, even though I was looking at at least $100 of charges on my credit card statement. Surprise, the charges continued and I finally noticed ELEVEN months later (at 24$ a month, and no other obvious fraud, it was easy to miss). When I called, pretty upset, they berated me for not noticing and not calling...except I did call 6 months back when they supposedly couldn't find the account. This time they could find an account, but not in my name or my husband's. They wouldn't give me the name or email address used on the account. The representative became incredibly condescending and rude. They offered 3 months refund, and when I pushed back, 6 but said that was all they could do and suggested I call my bank.UPDATE: according to my bank I've been being charged FOR YEARS on this bogus account!! They are working to refund me but holy s*** I can't believe it and am totally in shock...why didn't the rep tell me I had a multi-year-old account? It's all so strange and just feels super scammy.

I have subscribed to Ancestry.com for 11 years; many ****s of $$$. I recently realised it had expired and went to renew using a new CC. First, the price, $319, was just in $, not USD or ***, so I assumed ***. Then on checking I found Ancestry had added 10% GST at checkout, and then $350.90 became USD, converted to *** = $524.16.I cancelled immediately, which was confirmed, but they will not refund the *** $524.16. Apparently I went to the wrong site, ancestry.com, not.com.au!I would not have renewed at $524.16! So they have cancelled, expiry: 14/4/2024, but are keeping my money, despite several attempts by me to appeal to their sense of honour, honesty, customer service or whatever. This is just shameful I'm afraid, and is the end of the line for Ancestry as far as I'm concerned. I have lodged a complaint with the Australian Govt Consumer Affairs and with Fair Trading *****************. Be very wary of Ancestry.com. ***************** Date of experience: 14 April 2023

Ancestry.com says they offer a 30% discount to AARP members. As of today 05/07/2023, the website ******************************************************* states the Monthly All Access rates are $44.99 which is discounted to $30.99 per month for 1st Year for AARP members per month for 1st Year.In reality, they charged us $41.99. I called ancestry.com and they said they increased "All Access" membership rates "awhile ago" and applied the 30% that increased rate. They would not/or could decrease their rate to $30.99 as stated on ******************************************************* nor refund the charged amounted $41.99 less 1 days of use. Ancestry.com would not honor their advertised rate listed on ******************************************************* which was access on 05/07/2023

I purchased DNA kits for $101.45 each. A few days later, they reduced the price to $59 each. I called their support unit and they basically said "too bad".

The billing practices are negative option. I was being charged regularly when the costs went up, unannounced. The subscription renews every 6 months and to cancel, the service charges an early cancelation fee. Ancestry spams members with e-mails at the same time it "reminds" users that their account is going to renew. This is deceitful business practice to entrap customers into another 6 month or 12 month commitment in the hopes they simply over look the e-mail in the flurry of spam Ancestry sends. The service itself appears to trickle few found information in order to keep the user interested and is VERY expensive for what you get. Overall misleading and expensive with poor customer service.

I canceled before the free trial ended. I got a notification I was charged for the membership. I immediately go on and talk to live support. Live support was not helpful at all. Offered no solutions on how to remedy this, refused to refund and didnt offer any other help. They just kept saying I never canceled and I did. The system messed up somehow. Technology isnt always accurate or working. Ive worked in customer service for 18 years. I would have never treated someone the way I was treated. Even if you dont refund me, at least offer another solution.
