Today Ancestry slapped me in the face. I canceled my subscription at 4 months old, and promised to return eventually. Sorry to see you go but you owe us $25.00Its not right to charge a cancellation fee , that high. I know they are not BB accredited. I know better to check next time, I hope you post this. Thank you.

While I don't ****************, they have an intentionally misleading business practice in regards to auto renewals and refunds. A long free trial came with the *** kit but then they never notify you when it's ending, just charge you and tell you it can't be refunded. It should be illegal not to remind a consumer prior to charging them, renewal cycle or not.

I've been a member on and off for at least 15 years. Three days ago I decided to cancel my membership because the monthly fee is SO high. This morning I wake up to a new fee that has been charged to my account. From there it all went downhill.1. There's not easy way to obtain a number to call there customer service line. Only an automated bot. Looking up their ** line is a time **** and super annoying.2. When I finally find the number and call, the ** rep tells me that there is a cancellation fee. (excuse me WHAT?). Ridiculous. To make things worse he said 'if you would have called and cancelled we would have helped you and waived the fee but now there is nothing we can do'. To which I replied 'how would I have known to do that' and he literally chuckled and said 'I don't know.'Thanks for the customer service, **********************. Thankfully these days there are other companies that can assist you in your search for locating your family history and genealogy records and not only are they cheaper but some are FREE. Buh-bye Ancestry. You greedy scumbags...this time, it's for good.

I bought a DNA Kit from Amazon for $79. I went through the process of using it then mailed it out. Several weeks later it still had not been received by Ancestry. I attempted to use their chat program but it's completely broken. The second you get to a human it crashes your browser. I tried to call their number and was on hold for an hour before the call was dropped. I then remembered that I had emailed support in the past and tried that. Lo and behold they've completely ended e-mail support which is just insane to me!

Something needs to be done about this company charging $25 to cancel a membership. Who does that? Other companies try to offer incentives to stay, but *** never been charged for leaving! Horrible!

I ordered a DNA kit for my wife, after completing the test requirements I tried to register the code but was informed that my wife must have an ancestry account. There was no information requiring a membership when I ordered the test kit, if there was I would have never ordered it. I have an active account with Ancestry, soon to be cancelled, so there is absolutely no need for my wife to have an account since I research my family and my wife's. It is quite obvious to me that this is a scam to add more money to their coffers. My advise to anyone foolish enough to have any dealings with Ancestory think about it very seriously!!*************************** ********** **

Had been with Ancestry for years. Not anymore. Canceled a week before renewal, took out my payment information as well. A week later, bank shows a pending charge for 169! Called ***************** I was informed that they CAN'T give a refund. I said, OH NO, this isn't happening. You fix this issue or I will go to my bank and have them take it off for a fraudulent charge (which it is). She tells me to hold, comes back on the line and tells me that I will get my refund. Gives me my confirmation e-mail for the refund. She even tried to sell me, BEFORE telling me I couldn't have the refund. I warn anyone, be careful for Ancestry. This company is NOT like they used to be, and **************** is beyond the worst, they will shaft you if you allow them to.Definitely will check into one of the other genealogy sites for recommendations to go elsewhere.

Ancestry and FindaGrave is extremely disrespectful to the wishes of the dead, especially those of other faiths. My mother is Catholic not LDS. She was a private person and would not want to have a fake memorial on their FindaGrave website. She does not need their saving, she is already saved. I will complain until they respect the wishes of her living family and not some corporation. The dead should have rights to be remembered as they would want to be remembered, not as Ancestry dictates.
