I have had lumio for over a year now and I'm still waiting for a reimbursement. I was told that if I chop down a tree so the lumio could get started faster that they would reimburse me for chopping down the tree. Again I've been waiting over a year every time I'll call customer service all they can tell me is it's pending and that the check will go out in a couple weeks I've been told that for over a year now.

During Q4 of 2022 our master bedroom ceiling caved in due to an ongoing leak problem that the tech who was sent out claimed was due to vents in our roof. We sealed all vents, yet the leak continued, ultimately leading to the collapse.

After a while Lumio sent out an inspector. Weeks later removal of the materials from the collapsed ceiling (drywall & insulation +?) began, black mold remediation had to be performed twice. The following repair work took several months to complete, during which time the bedroom was unusable. While Lumio offered to put us up in another residence, we have plants and animals that cannot be so easily removed so we had to stay in the home.

Eventually the work was finished the following spring (Q1 2023) and the panels re-installed.

Two weeks ago we discovered that the roof is again leaking in approximately the same area. We contacted Lumio immediately, who first failed to generate a ticket and so far fails to even contact us to discuss repairing the shoddy workmanship.

Our home is being destroyed through no fault of our own, as it was fully intact with zero leaks when we purchased in February of 2020.

Lumio's communication with existing customers is nonexistent and their workmanship is the worst we've experienced. This is the 2nd home we've converted to solar and it's been nothing but headaches, which seems to be unique to Lumio, as the first home's solar went without a hitch and is still working as designed to this day, with no problems to the envelope, again to this day.

      Business Response

      Date: 11/22/2023

Hi ******, thanks for reaching out. We have been attempting to contact the contractor who did the roof work since it is still under warranty, however, we have been unable to reach them. We sent a different company out today and they will continue to work with you until the repairs are complete. Please reach out to our team with any questions in the meantime.

      Customer Answer

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

      1) We've had no direct communication since Jeff & Devan came out to inspect. When they came out they tried to claim that the shoddy work performed by the previous roofing contractor was actually *our* problem, which we dispute as the problem did not exist prior to the work that was performed.

      2) The only notice we received from Lumio that anyone was ostensibly showing up yesterday was via this complaint, instead of through any of the numbers or emails Lumio has for our account.

      3) No one from any roofing company *or* Lumio has shown up, no one has called to explain why I had to stay at home all day yesterday waiting for someone who never arrived.

      4) Whom on your team are we to reach out to? We are entirely unable to get any contact information for anyone from any department. We kept contact information for one person who responded immediately and is, unfortunately, not representative of the behavior and actions of the rest of the company.

This level of customer service is very poor. Homeowners who've entrusted their homes to Lumio must be able to trust that Lumio will perform good quality work, that they use vetted and trusted subcontractors, and most essential of all, that Lumio will communicate directly of its own volition and in a timely manner. Our experience during the first instance of this roof leaking problem and now is demonstrating that nothing about these operational problems has changed.

      Sincerely,

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because nothing has been scheduled by anyone for anything. We had a visit from a roofing company on Monday, but have seen no report and definitely haven't seen or heard anything about scheduling.

On that same Monday we received a letter from a previous subcontractor you hired, Restoration 1, who are now charging US almost $2,000 because they have not been paid by you! We did not hire them, Lumio did, and because all of this was due to poor solar panel installation it is all Lumio's responsibility. Why are we, honest homeowners, now responsible for paying YOUR subcontractors?

I am rejecting this response because:

We still have zero direct communication from Lumio. I received a phone call from the 2nd roofing outfit last week saying that we'd have a *quote* coming soon. Why are they sending *us* a quote? Nothing received, from them or from Lumio. It's now been 6.5 weeks going on 7 and *nothing* has been done beyond the solar panel installers coming and prying out our eaves, giving our home a derelict appearance.

We want direct communication and we want timely communication, along with the repairs that still need to be done. Lumio is well on its way to taking several months *again*, but with even less communication than the first time.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: I have received one single phone call with a voicemail saying only to call if I have questions and that Roofix was supposed to come out that week (before Christmas). I have heard from no one at Roofix, nor has anyone shown up that we're aware of. I was told by Heidi at Lacey Roofing that someone else is now handling our case, but I haven't heard from that person (Kelly M*****? sp?) at all, only from Pedro who left the voicemail. Again, communication is severely lacking here and while I appreciate the phone call we are now going on 2mos since the problem was first discovered and noted, with the only action taken, of which the eaves were pulled open to allow the water that's backing up to more easily flow through that area. I believe this is still causing damage to our home.

      Sincerely,

      ****** ******

      Business Response

      Date: 12/29/2023

Hi ******, Roofix was at your home two days ago and found that there is no roof leak but that your gutter system is outdated, causing water to slide off the drip edge and bypass the gutters, which is what is rotting your fascia. This is not something that either Lumio or Roofix is responsible and we recommend getting this replaced before more damaged is caused.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 01/03/2024

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

Frankly, I am astonished that our gutters, that have been functioning well since purchase in 2020 and were in place during the initial installation in 2021, as well as during needed repairs in 2022-2023, has suddenly now become "outdated." If it was the gutter system, why did the Roofix workers tell me they "caulked a nail" with no other mention?

They pointed out that the gutters were crooked, which was not the case prior to the solar installation or subsequent repairs and is not present in any of the other gutters around our home. Your own employees pulling on the gutters in that area didn't help the matter in any and all events. On top of that, your employees pulled down the eaves and facing board, which was kind of stuck back by Roofix but in no way actually repaired outside a bit of clear silicone caulking sloppily applied to the joint, which is again damage caused by Lumio and not sufficiently repaired.

If desired I can show photos of all gutters around the home when it was listed for sale in 2020 and as they are now. All *except* those which are around the area of roof repairs begun in December 2022 are still in good condition and certainly not pulled away from the roof or tilted as they are now.

I consider what work that has been done to have been done poorly and in a sloppy manner, and that they are likely insufficient, and if what were well-functioning gutters are now ill-functioning that is a direct result of the work Lumio is responsible for.

      Sincerely,

      ****** ******

******, attached is an image taken during your site survey on June 21, 2021, which is required before your designs can be finalized, permits can be submitted, and any work can be started. In this image you can see the gutter starting to detach and water damage starting to show. Your original complaint to BBB requested repair of the damage, but because Lumio did not cause any damage we will not be making any repairs.

I have solar panels on my house that was purchased from them. They put a hole in my roof with said installation. They came out and removed panels in preparation to fixing said hole. It was several months before they came and repaired the roof. They said that they would pay 3 months of the solar payments because of the delay. It has been months and they have not sent me the check.
My son and I have called and talked with them almost weekly and they say the same thing that it has been approved for payment but is in the queue and they don't know how long it will take. It should not take months to send a refund and after it has been approved. They are giving me the run around about this and I feel like they don't plan on paying me. I think they have moved their headquarters to FL. I would appreciate any help that you could provide in this matter.

On 06/09/22 I signed a contract with Atlantic Key Energy (later merged as Lumio) with the expilicit understanding I would be paying $262.31 for my solar panels upon receiving an estimated $26000 lump sum Green tax credit with my tax return. I only received a portion of said tax credit and was told by my tax specialist that the tax credit was incremental and only to be received as a tax liability. The sales representative JACOB F******* (cell number *** *** ****) assured us of the tax credit that would adjust our monthly financing rate from $354.48 to $262.31. We were deceived in this transaction and want to be paying what we were promised.

I am rejecting this response because:

Your salesperson Jacob F******* (whom I am now told no longer works for Lumio) assured my wife and I that we would receive the tax credit that would lock us into the $262 a month financing rate. We were ill informed about this entire process. He also told us that the panel production would more than offset our energy consumption (reviewing our utility bills and assessing how many panels we would need to do that). I never would have accepted this had I known differently. This was extremely deceptive and a very raw deal. Moreover, whenever I attempt to make contact with a Lumio executive the customer service representative Hazel says a supervisor will call back within a day and yet that does not happen so I am unable to even contest any of this. Bottom line: we were promised by Jacob F******* we would be saving money on our energy bill with these panels and yet we are now paying substantially more. This is totally unacceptable.

We signed up for solar threw lumio in December 2022. They came and put the brackets on the house rather quickly but then stopped work. I called and emailed several times to finally get a few people out here and there to do work. When April 2023 hit I had to start making payments to Mosaic.$217 a month and work wasnt even completed. Lumio assured me I would get refunded that money. August 2023 work was finally finished and we got the ok to turn it on. Now when we first signed our contract they said when it gets turned on you generate energy and your power bill will go down. It has not! I called them this month after having them on for 3 months and they told me I have 90 days to wait. Then my bill could go down, stay the same or maybe even up! What the heck. Its been 3 and a half months and several emails to them (which now they have stopped responding to) and still no refund for those 6 months. Company owes me almost $2000 and they say its pending. I would love to cancel my service all together. They have been nothing but a headache

We had really high electric bills in June, July, August and September that plus the solar panel payments. I decided to have Lumio come and check our system on 9/19/23 because we figured something was not right as our electric bills were really high. Per email I am attaching on 9/29/23 nobody came or called after my husband took half a day off work for them to come and do repairs. That alone costs us $160 ( 4 hours @ $40 per hour) for the hours he missed at work. They finally came on 10/2/23 and stated a part was replaced and system was up and running again. 10/4 per email, I was told our system was in fact down those 4 months, June, July, August and September and that they would reimburse us the amount of our Solar panel payments ($213.33) that we had made to GoodLeap the finance company for the (4) months. Since then I have emailed them asking where the refund is and I am just getting the same run around answer that the request is with accounting to be processed. Does it really take 45 days to issue a refund? We just installed the panels in late 2022 and we are already having issues with $72,000 worth of panels? And we cant get a reimbursement for the (4) months which is nothing in comparison to the amount we spent on the solar panels? We should get the 4 months plus the 4 hours of pay of $160 my husband lost when they never bothered to show up on 9/29 because their employee failed to create a work ticket order for repairs.

Last summer, it got so hot that electric power usage went so high, and I was looking for ways of reducing the amount of money I spent on electricity. I came across LUMIO Solar. The Lumio salesperson convinced me that solar is my best option. We agreed that:
      1. They would install 23 solar panels, giving over 118% production.
      2. During this high production time, I could store the surplus, reducing my payments in the long run.
      3. They would see the installation process without a hitch.
      4. They promised 100% success.

      COMPLAINT
      1. Even before the solar power was up and running, the salesperson had moved on.
      2. All the promises of installation without a hitch hit a brick wall. I had to keep calling for several things to be done, and it took more days to install than initially agreed upon.
      3. They promised 21 panels would produce 108%, but I requested them to install 23. With 23 panels, we are not close to 45% of our needed production.
      4. When I called to complain, they asked me to send them my 10 months' bills, which I did within 24 hours. Lumio took about three days to examine the bills and had their technical team remotely review the panels. The remote review uncovered that three to four panels are underproducing. The production auditor contacted me and said that the system was producing as intended but ignored that some panels were underproducing. I requested to speak to her manager, but she refused to let me talk to her manager. Instead, she started talking me into investing more money in additional panels. She also indicated that Lumio could not do anything about the situation other than sell me additional panels.
      5. I have tried calling several times to determine why the system is not functioning at 118%. The last person I exchanged emails with was insulting, telling me that even the manager could not help me. I still get hefty bills from Lumio and the electric company. In nutshell, I am not saving but spending more.

      I saw the the
production auditor shared on the screenshot. However, I disagree with report because the system is not producing the 118% promised.  In addition, when I received the audit I requested the auditor to delve deeper into why I am not producing as promised, she said there is nothing else she can do. I requested
to speak to her manager, she refused to let me talk to her manager.  She literally said that she is the last person I can talk to about this issue. I have tried calling someone to help me find out why this isn't working, and all the time, they throw me off with no help on the way. the last time I called, the person was insulting, telling me even the manager could not help me all this while, I have kept receiving hefty bills for solar and electric power. Besides, the Enphase review found out that about 4-8 panels are not producing optimal power. They speculated that the panels are installed under the tree shades, but I do not have trees covering the panels. I told them that I do not have trees covering the panels and they literally dismissed my response. I tried to ask that Lumio send someone to thoroughly investigate what is malfunctioning, Instead, they opted to talk me into investing more money in additional panels. Literally, the auditor lady I corresponded with told me that Lumio cannot do nothing about the situation but sell me additional
panels. This is shocking given that the price I paid for the panels included a 25 year warranty on everything (unless, the salesperson lied to get a sale and move on to the next customer, which he did. After the terrible install, when I reached out to him with questions, his response was that the questions I had were above his pay grade. He never offered to point me to someone who can help. I took it upon myself to find the contact number to call Lumio and request that they complete install as agreed).

      Again,

      I got
into this to find a manageable solution to the high electric bills, not to add
to it. The solar company (LUMIO) should be held accountable for their promises
to customers to hold their end of the bargain. They should deliver what they promise
and not make a profit and leave their customers un satisfied and taken
advantage of. I appeal to have someone sent down here to review the whole
installation and find out why this isn't productive in the first place, then
      correct any shortcomings.
      Thank
you for your time, and I am looking forward to a quick resolution to this
      problem.

Hi *****, our team has been in contact with you to explain this further. Solar panel efficiency is based on numerous variables, including tilt and azimuth. With south-facing panels being the most efficient, your 8 north-facing panels are not producing as much energy. However, Lumio had to design your system this way due to your HOA restrictions and as such, your roof is limited to where you can have panels. Additionally, you told our representative that your system produced more energy in the summer due to hotter temperatures. We would like to remind you that temperature is not what creates electricity. Your panels take photons of light emanated from the sun and convert that to electricity. We would be happy to answer any further questions or provide any additional tips on reducing consumption, however, your system is producing as expected per your signed contract.

Last October I agreed to having solar and battery installed on my house for 52k dollars. I was told this process would ***********-8 weeks. After months of getting the run around. I finally had someone confirm that I was promised a battery they originally never planned to install. I am still waiting on monthly credits that have not been paid out to me, additional inspection fees that I have incurred because they have not passed inspection. And today another inspection failed. This project has yet to be completed, they will not provide any contracts for this work, and I havent been assigned an account manager since the first one was let go from the company. And the second one had jury duty. I now wait without many answers for when this project will be finished well over a year after its origin.

The only issue I have had is that the agreed upon promotion that included the first 6 months paid (and advertised as "up front, so you don't have to make the 1st 6 payments"), has yet to be paid. We signed the agreement in January, finished the solar install in July, and I have been calling ever since to get the rebate. It is now 4.5 months since install and no one can tell me when I will get paid. So much for the advertised "first 6 months free"... When I call, ******* states that the payment is through approval and "stuck" in processing. I ask to speak to a manager and "they are all busy, and can't help you anymore than I can". I requested a manager call back, they never called.I love my solar panels, and have had good success thus far with this company, but this final issue - that directly effects my cash flow - is unacceptable, and appears to be not important to Lumio, since they got their money.

      Better Business Bureau:

I am still upset at the long wait time (4 months since install, and 11 months after signing agreements), but I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I also confirm receipt of payment.

      Sincerely,
