Solar Panels installed June 2023, Supposedly activated in Dec 2023, Wife and were told we would save monies and possibly even get paid by AEP. My Electric bill did not change. We also were told that these panels were self contained and that no batteries were required for back up. We had power outage and I called this company and was told that we needed batteries and that we could purchase back up generator for future outages. I have tried multiply time to speak to someone about this with Nothing. We have been lied to from the begining. now I pay AEP and the finance company for solar I emailed this company almost from the beginning. I am tired of all the lies and runaround Pleas help

The customer previously lodged a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General, but this issue was not mentioned at that time. We resolved the customer's previous complaint and offered compensation accordingly.
It's important to note that the system is not self-contained, and batteries can be purchased at the time of sale. Retrofitting batteries to an already installed and operational system is quite challenging. We apologize for any confusion that *** have occurred during the sale.

Unfortunately we can't add a battery to the homeowners system. If the homeowner can get his financier to cancel his project, then we can go and remove the panels and he can return the compensation we previously provided to him. We are only the installer and since his project is past completion he'll need to get approval from his financier to move forward.

They installed the solar panels in December 2023, March 2024 an inspector cam out to inspect so the system can be turned on, the inspector canceled the inspection, something about the equipment Ambia installed was incorrect, and parts were wrong, I have not heard from Ambia since then, and the loan company wants to start charging their monthly bill. I have been emailing and not 1 reply back, I call and just get passed to someone else, I want this handle.

This homeowner has been emailing the wrong people, we were notified of this on Friday. We are pending a date from the utility to shut the power off in order to install the required equipment by the inspector. We've asked the team that is waiting for this to call the homeowner today and explain what is needed and what is delaying the project.

My wife and I agreed to have solar installed on our home by Ambia Solar of Salt Lake City, Utah. Their people installed the solar on our home, after 2 rejections from the electrical inspector they passed it the third time. Upon final approval, I was contacted by Ambia to sign the fial contract to have the inter connect. As I was reading the agreement, and found out that I would have to provide a 1 million dollar liability policy to cover Black Hills Energy employees while they were on our property. We were not ever told about this requirement from Ambia or their representative. If we were told of this, we would have had to take this into in consideration to go solar. We are both on fixed incomes, and the main reason to go solar was to help us afford to live in our home. I have tried to get hold of the salesman, to no avail. Also called the office and was told that someone would contact us, still not happened. I explained to the office lady that we do not answer calls without names a/c too many spam calls, and to leave a message and we would call back. Still no contact.

    Business Response

    Date: 03/29/2024

The homeowners utility company used to require the million dollar liability payment. They no longer do, however the utility company has not updated their interconnection agreements. The homeowner should not sign this document until the utility company can get them updated. If it was a requirement that was not communicated to the homeowner, Ambia absolutely would pay for that. But this shouldn't be a requirement. We have been working with this homeowner and the utility company to get them moving forward.

July 2023 Ambia Solar began the install of my solar system. It is near completion and they have installed solar panels on my roof. The company failed to upgrade my utility meter to 200 Amps, therefore, early December, the *********************************** informed them to correct their application and install the 200 *********** box. As of today, February 3,****, Ambia Solar has failed to upgrade the utility box. December 11, 2023, I also notified by Ambia Solar of the ****************** requirement. I have texted and emailed several times since then and spoken to them on the phone. The last communication was with an email from ********************* January 2, ****. ***** apologized and stated it would be put on their priority list. I have not been contacted since. I did email again today, February 3, ****, to inform them I would be filing this with BBB and will pursue legal action. Please notify us as soon as this is corrected. Thank you!

    Business Response

Upgrades like these are difficult to coordinate scheduling as the utility company has to turn the power off and they dictate the days we can schedule to do this. However, We have this homeowner scheduled for the upgrade on 2/22/24.

I have had my solar panels installed for ******************************************************** generating energy. When they scheduled work, they would contact me DAY OF, with no warning. They were never able to narrow time a time frame and often not even a day. At our "final" inspection 5 months ago, they were told they had several more corrections to address. It has been radio silence since then. I have tried to call, text, and email with zero response.

I contracted with Ambia July 19, 2023. They had to put in a new electric panel to hookup. They agreed to put it in. After many calls they put in the panels on Oct 2, 2023 but no hookup and no new electric panel. I have been given multiple dates for the new electripanel and completion of hookup. The last date that failed to happen was Dec 21, 2023.

I am rejecting this response because:

On Dec 9th when your worker came by he had zero clue on what was needed. I showed him the inspection from the county, he looked at the mess from the installation, laughed and said that the solution you set forth was not going to pass. He took pictures and made some calls. He left to go work on some other jobs and said it probably won't be until January now that the work will be done. He was very open and honest and actually called me back for a change. No qualms about the guy sent. But here we are now going on 2 months flpast the contact date and still not even touched.

During the final inspection for the homeowners system, the *** (authority having jurisdiction) required that we do an electrical upgrade to the customers system in order to pass the inspection. We have been waiting for a date from the utility for the power shut off required for us to do this electrical upgrade. We had solar panels installed at our home last Sept. 2022.Since this time weve been told the original installer went out of business and we now have Ambia. The solar panel company (EverBright) keeps sending us letters saying the system is operational (we began getting these letters last December) but the system has never been turned on by Ambia.Weve called multiple times - usually without anyone answering, but when we do have someone pick up the call were either hung up on, or told that someones not in the office, but will call us back.We want our supposedly operational system turned on, now please. And wed like a rebate for the past 10 months where we should have had service and instead have been paying energy bills.

    Business Response

    Date: 11/16/2023

We spoke to the homeowner two weeks ago and he turned on his system. We also had a crew go out and ensure his system was on and working last week. While we understand this customer is looking for a refund regarding the months he was not operational, we do not have a contract with this homeowner to honor that. The homeowner would need to reach out to his lender, Everbright, as his original installer is no longer in business. Our company was hired by the lender Everbright to get customers operational after ************************** went out of business.
