We started our process on June 4th. On the original consult with the sells person we changed the original plans for 17 to 25 panels. Our sells person also told us we would have sensors with our new thermostat, which we did not. After calling and calling we finally got an appointment for a crew to come out and install the panels. The first installation they cheated us out of 8 panels. After several more calls we finally got the remaining 8 panels installed. The panels were installed without a city permit. Prior to the installation being completed, Blue Raven reported to the finance company that installation was complete. After the finance company contacted Blue Raven, Blue Raven then contacted me letting me know they would be sending me a check for the first month's payment for the mix up. I have yet to receive this. They also owe me another compensation check from the installation process that I have not received either. After a very delayed process, all the panels are now installed. We have been trying to contact the company for over a week now because the panels are still not functioning properly. They keep tripping a breaker. An appointment was set up after day 3 but once again a no call no show. We have not received a call from anyone attempting to fix this issue. We can get no answers and no solution. This process has been a nightmare from the beginning and is costing me unnecessary money. My electric bills have been outrageous. Had they installed the panels as promised, I would not have all these extra costs. We are constantly on the phone with Blue Raven trying to get what we were promised and are paying for.

      Business Response

      Hello,

The issue regarding the panel quantity was an internal mix up with installation plans, which we were able to resolve.

The ecobee3 lite thermostats sold by Blue Raven Solar, do not include room sensors. There is no mention of sensors in any proposals or contractors. These Ecobee SmartSensor room sensors are not provided by Blue Raven Solar, but are compatible with the thermostat provided to the customer.

A visit is scheduled for the 31st to address the breaker issues, and we will be compensating the customer for all of these issues. We generally submit for compensation once the issue is resolved, but I will make sure that these can be expedited and sent out as soon as possible. The customer can reject this response, and we will follow up with updates on all of this.

      Thank you,

I signed a contract with Blue Raven Solar to install solar panels on my home on 5/16/22. The solar panels were not installed until 7/19/22. During install the crew stepped thru my ceiling, cracked the plaster and one of the support beams seems to be cracked. The crew did not tell me about the issue and I discovered it after they left. I immediately contacted the salesperson and sent him photos. I also called the customer service line and reported the issue. To date (8/10/22), no one has repaired the ceiling. The system has still not been inspected by the city and is not operational. Today (8/10/22), another crew came by to "inspect" the install. They threw something off my roof and broke my birdbath. I saw it happen from inside the house (the crew never mentioned it). After they left I went out to fill the birdbath with more water and discovered it was cracked.I was told the inspector would be at my house last week so I cleared my schedule, cancelled lunch plans and waited....he never showed. Now I'm told the inspector will be here this Friday. Anticipating another day waiting for someone to show. This company has been terrible to work with. They show up at my home without contacting me first. I'm a single woman living alone and do not appreciate men showing up unannounced. I also work from home and these unannounced disruptions affect my work meetings. I've told the salesperson this information but still the crews show up unannounced.I was told when I started this process that it would take 1-2 months. It has been a frustrating and time consuming process. I would not recommend this company to my neighbors.I would like Blue Raven to do the following:1. GET MY SYSTEM WORKING 2. Hire a professional contractor to inspect the ceiling for structural damage and make repairs 3. Reimburse me for the broken birdbath

      Hello,

I've discussed the inspection related issues with our inspections team, and they have agreed to cover the customer's financing payments until the system is turned on, and are also going to be compensating an additional $400.00 for the inconveniences. For the ceiling damage, our work orders team does not currently have a signed contractor on-hand in the area for the repairs, and is actively working on reaching out to contractors to get quotes for the work. Our work orders team has also discussed ************* with the customer, and has submitted $75 in compensation for a replacement, to the customer's satisfaction. We will be continuing to search for contractors for the repairs, and we will have them reach out for scheduling.

I would like a date when my system will be working and my ceiling will ne repaired. I just noticed that the last crew at my house dented the storm drains on the front of the home where they placed their ladders. Hello,

We apologize for the delays on this, as we are still working to get a drywall contractor. The contractor we initially contracted has declined the work, and we are currently in the process of reaching out to several more to get a quote so that we can have them begin the work. Once a quote is approved by management, our work orders team will reach out to the customer directly to let them know the name and contact information for the company, and we will also have the company work with the customer to schedule directly. We will also be compensating the customer for the delays regarding us sourcing a contractor.

For the storm drain, our work orders team will be reaching out to you to get more details on this, so that we have this repaired/replaced as quickly as possible.

We have installed solar panels in January 2021 at - ***************************************************************************. We noticed leak from roof Jan 2022 and called Blue raven. Field technicians visited and diagnosed it as issue with the roof and not related to solar panel installation. I called my construction contractor as roof was very new due to current remodel of house couple years back. We had our roof contractor visit us and diagnosed that due to solar panel, some corner screws went loose and Solar panel installation did not check it which caused leakage and damage to ceiling and door. When I called Blue Raven service line, they confirmed that this does happen sometimes with panel installation. As the damage to ceiling and door due to roof leakage which started in the rainy season after Panel installation - I called Blue raven and they requested to send email to this address - ************************************* .I sent email on June 8, 2022 and there is no response till now on 8/8/2022.

I have roof installed only 3 years back and didn't have this leakage in rain season before installing Solar panels. We are in the midst of having a Solar Panel system installed by Blue Raven and so far we have had significant issues with having failed inspection work and staff not showing up to complete the work. The day of our scheduled install the team arrived 3 hours early (not a huge issue) but required some alterations of our schedule to meet their early arrival. Three hours after the team arrived, we received a call from blue Raven home office, apologizing saying that our panels would not be installed as a team could not make it that day. We explained to blue Raven that a team was indeed at our house and they seem to not have any documentation that the team had arrived. The work order and permits on files said we would get an upgraded electrical panel which blue raven refused to install despite that was what was in the contracted paper and on the work permit. The day of the install the electrician incorrectly installed our indoor thermostat which required us to fix ourselves. The work that has beendone has failed inspection. The company had an electrician scheduled for today 8/3/22 **** and to make inspection corrections and they didnt show up. Blue Raven has no answers for this error. They offered to have the electrician come to our home at 5 PM which is inappropriate and is disruptive to our household as we need to respect our work family boundaries. These installers are working at heights, alone and in excessive heat so there are occupational health and safety concerns as well. Blue raven is not taking accountability for scheduling their teams to prioritize the customers. There needs to be an investigation Regarding their scheduling practices, the number of crew on their teams, the qualifications and valid certificates or certifications of their electricians.

      Business Response

      Hi,

We are very sorry to hear about these issues during the process. We have brought up the scheduling and thermostat issues with our installations/field operations and work orders leadership, and they will be addressing this with our crew and electrician. We have inspection work scheduled for this upcoming week, and we will make sure that the customer is compensated for the delays surrounding the failure and any missed appointments. Our work orders management will be reaching out about the thermostat installation concerns, and to make sure that the customer is reimbursed for any out-of-pocket costs they may have paid to have this remedied.  Assuming the "upgraded electrical panel" is in reference to a main panel upgrade, this is not in any contracts or any permits completed by Blue Raven Solar. With further investigation by our design & engineering departments, they also confirmed that there is no record of this claim. If the customer has evidence of the contrary, we ask that they provide it.

I hope you can stop this company which seems exist to only send my personal information to dozens of companies for advertising purposes. The only thing this out of state company did was forward my information to dozens of other companies. They are not a legitimate solar company and seem to be a front for picking up referrals. All indications are they are based in **** and have dozens of various phone numbers in all area codes.

We received this customer's information through a partner company that helps homeowners contact local service companies (similar to Home Advisor, Nextdoor Business, Thumbtack, etc.). None of this homeowner's data or information has been forwarded to "dozens of companies" by Blue Raven Solar. If the customer has evidence to these claims, we ask that it be provided. Blue Raven Solar is a full fledge residential solar installer that has completed tens of thousands of installations for homeowners across the country. If the homeowner has a complaint against the home services company, we recommend they reach out to them.

Though we are based in ****, we have many phone numbers with different area codes because we operate in many states. The text this customer received was from a form tool that Blue Raven Solar uses. This tool is used to request further information that will be needed for a project proposal and in-person meeting. This line is SMS only and is not designed or set up for phone calls. If the homeowner legitimately wishes to contact us, we have a website (BlueRavenSolar.com) that includes a number for our customer support team *************).

Blue raven agreed to installation of solar panels and a thermostat.it was apart of why I chose blue raven, instead of a different company. They have been giving me the run around for weeks starting they are working on getting someone out that can install it. It is part of the agreed installation and nothing in the contract states any reason why they would not be liable for installing it as agreed. They are over charging me for this system five times over. The least they could do is honor the agreement or come and remove all the panels so I can work with a more honorable organization.

      Hello,

We did expect to be able to install this Ecobee smart thermostat, but realized that we could not because the customer's current HVAC system is not compatible. When our crew informed the customer of this incompatibility, we offered to refund her for the cost of the Ecobee, but this was refused because they wanted the Ecobee to be installed regardless. Blue Raven Solar reached out to an HVAC company and received a quote of about ***** for a system upgrade and Ecobee installation. This thermostat bears no significance to the performance or functionality of the system, and work orders management has informed the customer that we will not be paying for an entire HVAC upgrade to install this Ecobee thermostat. We are more than happy to install this thermostat for free, but a system upgrade is not something we will do.

Please refer to section 15 of the "SOLAR SYSTEM HOME IMPROVEMENT CONTRACT", that states the following:
"Unforeseen Conditions. If concealed or unknown physical conditions are encountered at the site of the performance of the Work that differ materially from those disclosed by Customer or from those conditions immediately apparent from Site Survey, terms concerning price and schedule shall be subject to equitable adjustment, which adjustments shall not require the consent of Customer. If at any time a home construction service requires extra costs above the cost specified or estimated in the Agreement that were reasonably unforeseen, but necessary, and the total of all extra costs to date exceeds five thousand dollars over the course of the entire home construction contract, Customer has a right to an estimate of those excess costs before Company begins work related to those costs. Company will provide this estimate in written form."

I'm not sure of what needs clarifying but I can try to provide more details. I agreed to solar panel installation with blue raven, above other companies I'd meet with. With one of the deciding factors being my thermostats. It was suppose to be installed with everything else. I was told someone would return to install. My thermostat is not even 2years old it is brand new. Nothing mentioned a restricting of compatability and if I'd known I would have cancel the entire process of installation. I request it be installed first and it was intentionally delayed and completed last by the company. It was a part of the installation, therefore installation is incomplete and I do not want any services from the company if they can not honor the installation of my thermostat. Nothing in the contract separates it from the installation of the other items. I want my thermostats or the contract voided and all other items collected. I would not have signed up if I want deceived About this.

Despite the contract statement that does not obligate Blue Raven Solar to install this thermostat under unforeseen conditions, our team has discussed a possible exception. This has been escalated to senior management for further review. Management and/or senior management has agreed to review this and contact the customer directly in the coming week. We will follow up then.

After senior management and our legal team reviewing it further, we are electing to upgrade the customer's existing HVAC system, despite ********************** not being contractually obligated. The cost to upgrade the customer's HVAC system is approximately the same as pursuing the customer's request of contract termination. We strive to make sure our customers have a good experience and are willing to upgrade this, as it clearly means a lot to the customer.

On April 7, 2022, I signed a contract with Blue Raven Solar to install solar panels on my home. I was told installation could take 1-2 months, with primary delays being attributed to permit review/approvals from the electric company (Evergy). After two months of no communication, I inquired about the status of my install, and was informed Evergy had up to 30 days to review and approve. When more than 30 days passed without further communication, I called Evergy myself, was informed the permit was overdue and that it would be approved the next day (it was). A similar experience occurred with my city (Gladstone), where I took sole responsibility to follow-up on reviews outside of SLAs. Once install was scheduled, I was informed the install would occur over a single day, and that my power would be out for two hours. I work from home, and have a 3 and a 5 year with me. I arranged for childcare on the day of install, June 30; during this day, the installers fell through my ceiling, leaving a large hole in the drywall and insulation on the floor. The installers only completed a portion of the work, and came back the next day to finish. I also arranged for additional childcare on July 1, sine that was when I was told power would be out. The installers did not finish that day, as an electrician wasn't available. An electrician came out on July 6 to complete the installation, and I again paid for childcare. This electrician still did not finish the install, then did not respond to calls or messages for the next two days. On Monday, July 11, an electrician arrived to finish the install, and put another large hole in my bathroom. The holes were not patched until July 14. A final inspection was scheduled today, July 15, and a Blue Raven tech did not show up. The resulting inspection was failed due to improper labeling and a problem with my circuit breaker box. On top of all of this, communication has been terrible, with multiple unreturned texts and phone calls.

      Hello,

Ive discussed this with management, and we will be able to cover the reimbursements as requested. It is our understanding that reimbursement for childcare, elevated A/C usage, and cleaning is needed due to the issues as outlined. The homeowner is currently scheduled to speak to a manager about these issues on July 25th, where we will make sure that we have an accurate summary and total for reimbursement, and ensure that the rest of the work is completed. This manager has offered to be the homeowners point of contact over this situation, and we will follow up with him after the discussion on the 25th.

I am rejecting this response because:A $500 refund is less than 4% of the difference in cost between Blue Raven and the next highest bidder ($10,000, even after considering the 18 months of payments and the tree removal bid). Both the sales representative and the actual dates collateral/contract focus on high-quality and straightforward installation as a primary reason to cost Blue Raven, a main differentiator for my household. I feel manipulated and lied to by this company, and $500 does not even begin to fix that.
