I purchased tickets to The Lights Fest for 10/21/23 in Sacramento. 3 weeks prior to the event, I had to find out from the news that the event never had a permit - and in CA it's illegal to have this type of event due to wildfire risk. Organizers didn't even research and seek a permit for a large scale event like this. What's worse is people have been contacting them non-stop for refund requests. No answer. I've emailed and reached out through social media about 10 times. And to top it off, they didn't email or notify anyone about the event being cancelled. There most likely will be people traveling so long to get to the venue and it not be there. Total scam. I purchased tickets because it was something I've waited years to do, so disappointed is an understatement. They are also really suspicious in that all the post that they have on their IG are just reposts of their customers. So technically, if you try to comment on their most recent 'post' to try and get help or a reply from organizers, you won't because you'll just be commenting on the customers social media post.Initial Complaint

Bought tickets to this lantern festival event on August 13, 2023. Few days later, they stopped selling tickets. I then contacted the Sacramento Fire Department and found out the event is illegal to take place. The venue also mentioned the event did not have proper permits. Now the company is refusing to give me my money back for tickets to an event that was not permitted and has been cancelled. There are hundreds of people in the same situation. Not able to get their money back. This company has MANY complaints similar to mine. The government needs to get involved with the component scamming hundreds of people and thousands of dollars. This company is a SCAM!!!! They will postpone the event over and over again, for different reasons each time. It has been almost a year since I purchased my original ticket and the event has yet to happen. They don’t cancel the event so they can avoid having to give refunds. Canceling the event would be the only way the company would be forced to give out refunds to everyone. The company continues to promote an event that will never happen, and it needs to stop. I listed below all the dates the company postponed the event.
I purchased a ticket on 11/21/22 for the original event date of 2/11/23.
Event was postponed due to inclement weather, for a new date of 5/13/23.
On 5/5/23 the event was postponed again due to inclement weather, for a new date of 8/26/23
Event was postponed again on 6/8/23 due to unforeseen scheduling issues, for a new date of 9/30/23.
Event was postponed again on 9/13/23 due to a burn ban, for a new date of 11/18/23.Initial Complaint

Event was canceled then rescheduled 4 months later. I was unable to attend the rescheduled date. I purchased the ticket insurance originally. I requested a refund on 7/6/22. Transaction date 02/04/2020 Order number ****** Placed By ***************************** I purchased 4 adult tickets to the Lights Festival in Seattle/Portland Area The Festival was to be on 5/09/2022.The show was cancelled, and I was advised that they would re-schedule the festival. It was never rescheduled for this area. So I requested in writing two e-mail sent to ******************* requesting a refund. They have not responded, they did not respond in 2021 and they are still not responding. There is no telephone number to reach either. The business offered us to see a lantern light show in Boston and I bought tickets and the transaction was processed November 29, 2019. The total the business was paid on November 29, 2019 was $54.84. The event was supposed to happen June 6, 2020 at Topsfield Fairgrounds 207 Boston Topsfield 01983, 5:00 PM to 9 PM it was postponed due to Covid understandably to August 8. Then it got canceled and we were told we could use our tickets for the following year at the same location. We were told the date was Saturday, August 28, 2021 4 PM to 10 PM. Then that event got canceled yet again being for a third time. I have emailed them and all they’ve offered was for me to give up my tickets or sell them to someone. At this point the business didn’t provide the service so I feel they should offer a refund I would’ve enjoyed to do this event and it’s sad. My confirmation number is #********** for my order. I purchased event tickets from this company for a lantern event festival in February 2020. Order number #******. The event was supposed to happen in summer 2020; however; because of coronavis, the event never happened. The company decided to postpone the event until an infinite date. I requested a refund, however they refused saying my tickets were non refundable. However, their website clearly stated if an event is not rescheduled 90 days within the original date, then refund will be issued. I haven’t been able to get a refund, yet it’s been a year the event is postponed. I would like a refund from them.Initial Complaint

Viive events held an event in Ellis county called The Lights, A Christmas Celebration which was supposed to be a lantern lighting event in which you can celebrate and cherish the holidays. However they were aware that there were permit issues prior to the event and they continued to sell tickets and allow thousands to enter and pay for tickets as well as $25 to park and then decided to disclose last minute that the lanterns could not be lit. Many people continued to light the lanterns regardless but this was far from a magical experience and was a complete let down overall with how it was organized and ran. We need refunds for this event especially after all the disappointment it left many of us feeling before the holidays. So far no answers from the company or a response on if they plan to make this right.
