1 starUnprofessional, inefficient, and unethical.I received mitigation services for a bathroom leak which on the second floor, damaging the carpet there and the engineered wood on the 1st floor. Things seemed okay to me until my insurance adjuster inspected their work. The carpet was cut several inches from the thresholds, meaning it couldn't be reattached and was scrapped anyways. The 1st floor flooring was deemed unsalvageable, and needed to be ripped out as well. So days of drying was wasted on scrap material an expert should have been able to cut correctly or recognize. They said they would remove the damaged flooring section and then gave up halfway. They didn't cover the floor with enough material leaving a sticky, uncomfortable, uneven floor. They never set up any isolation during drying so they were dehumidifying my entire house the whole time. When it came time to receive the bill they charged us over ****** dollars. 1/3 of the entire claim for the damage and full repair. They said they would review the charges with my insurance and never did, then they didn't respond to me about it for months. (Though they told me where I could send payment within 12 hours).I reviewed the documents myself and found I was charged for incorrect material amounts. They charged for 7 fans for the entire drying time even though only 4 were ever present on site. I was charged for nearly 200 pairs of gloves. I found 4500 dollars in overcharge just with what I could identify.Worse still, the bill charged for incorrect amounts, and the stuff that was recorded in a separate report was incorrect as well and also didn't match what I was charged.Ultimately they wanted to charge at least double the value of the actual work that was performed, for work that was inefficient (no barriers), unprofessional (drying all scrap material), and unverifiable (does not match reality or their own documents).Do not use this company. Don't trust any of their information.Review fromChristopher W

1 starBought a new unit 2 years ago. ** stopped working this year they got to me 4 days later. Said I needed a 1k dollar part. Paid 1100 dollars for the part said they would be back the next day didn't show up until the next day. Fixed it but only for 24 hrs. Broke again I researched it and figured out the line was clogged cleaned it out and it came back on now wondering if I even needed the 1100 dollar part. When it broke again today before I cleaned it out called and asked to speak to a manager...no call back. Never would recommend this for anyone.Review fromEmy C

1 starAvoid Michael and Son for your **, heating, and plumbing needs. I signed up for their ********************, expecting quality and responsivenessbut when the ** went out at one of my rental properties, the experience was anything but. A technician came out, diagnosed a leaking refrigerant, and said a part was needed. I was told it would take 3 to 5 days to arrive. Its now been 12 days, and I still dont have the partor even an estimated arrival date. Ive called every day, and each time Im told theyre doing their best to contact the manufacturer, yet they cant provide a single meaningful update. The lack of communication, urgency, and follow-through is completely unacceptable. I will not be using this company again.Review fromVannie C

1 starI will never use this company again. I hired them for water damage restoration, but during the initial inspection, they did not provide a price quote. I assume they expected the insurance company to approve everything. However, when the claim was denied, they stated that I owe them $3,000 for work I neither authorized nor was informed about. If I had known it would cost that much in the event of a denial, I would have never allowed them to start any work. Its unacceptable to begin work without ensuring that the customer is fully informed about potential costs, only to later make me responsible for their failure to get the claim approved. The work they did involved using fans to dry the floor and the basement ceiling where water had leaked, which hardly justifies a $3,000 charge. I am incredibly disappointed and will not be returning to this company, especially after being a loyal customer for nearly ten years, despite always feeling they were overpriced.Review fromStephanie T

1 starThey really deserve no stars. We purchased a ************** Agreement from them in 2021 for $398 a year, but they refused to provide priority service as contracted when we needed a HVAC technician during a heat wave. They claimed to be so backlogged with appointments that the next opening was 4 weeks away, then cancelled the Agreement via email the day after we attempted to schedule service. Stay far away from these scammers!Review fromLA F

1 starDon’t use this company. They charge a lot of money and don’t reimburse if it is not fixed and they try to charge you more when you call saying someone needs to come out to do the original work. They also take appointments and never tell your why’re not coming so you sit and wait for them all day not knowing they’re not coming. That happened to me twice. Customer service is very rudeReview fromJohn F

2 starsI had a simple kitchen clog drain turn into a nightmare of over ten visits, which ended in oddly and electrician getting added to the job of what should have been a simple unclogging of a drain. The job took about three weeks. I had a review from the plumbing supervisor who agreed that it wasn't done efficiently and plumbers were being trained to be too specialized. I was credited $360, a third of my expenses, to pacify me, which I accepted as a way to formally avoid complaining. After over a month, after not receiving any credit, I inquired, today, where it might be. I got evasive answers from ******* *****, customer relations, who just said "it seems like a check went out.." or "your mastercard that was used for the service..." when I inquired where the credit might be. I asked four more times if he could give me more information, also verifying with him I didn't see a credit in my cards. I told him I'd file a complaint because I couldn't get specific information. He wrote "lol Please stop with the 100 emails I am working on it." This just underscores how they treat customers and don't realize when we're already frustrated and finally get a credit that we can't verify with the same company that we lost trust in, an LOL response reflects the overarching philosophy of their respect for customers. My advice is go elsewhere, where a company can do more than one thing, where the employees aren't desperate for bonuses from good reviews, and where you don't get laughed at after being frustrated thoroughly.Review fromShana J

1 starThis company stated that only women can have hair and if a man with hair is hired he is required to cut his hair. Maryland has the Crown Act and making someone cut their hair is discrimination. Many individuals have locs and long hair based on their religion and beliefs.Review fromRose T

I had ************************** in my home on 11-13-24 to clean the ducts of my HVAC system. The home is fairly new and I kept getting lots of dust everywhere. The technicians were hardworking but were not careful with the contents in my home. Prior to the service, I had discussed with *****, the scheduler that I had a vent directly over the master bedroom bed and the bed needed to be moved for easy access. ***** contacted a cleaner and told me they would discuss ways of reaching the duct when they arrived. On the day of service, the technicians said they could reach the duct with their ladders. When I went into the room, they were hanging off the side of a ladder to remove the duct. In the process they dropped the metal duct onto the headboard of the bed causing two scratches. The technician told me to "get one of those markers for furniture and color it ." While the scratches are small, one goes through the finish into the wood. The other scratch is in the finish but has not damaged the wood underneath. I called scheduler back. She sent me a document, that I was told allowed them to enter my home, it states basically they are not responsible for any damages to any of my possessions, including furniture, carpets, rugs and, if working outside the home, shrubs. I have a service gold plan on both my residence and a home I rent. I also have a HEPA filter installation scheduled. I plan to cancel everything. Following the service, I was told my system had lots of wallboard dust and that was the reason my home was so dusty. I was surprised to find wallboard dust all over my home after the service that I had to clean after them, especially since they carried a shop vac around the house.I have used this vendor for other services and had excellent results. The previous technicians were very professional and careful. They cleaned up as they went and the area of my home where the worked was left clean and tidy. I no longer trust or recommend this company.Michael & Son Services Inc

3 starsI received the fall hvac service at my home last Saturday. The service included vacuuming out the hvac unit. The technician unplugged a component of the hvac system in order to plug in his vacuum. After the tech left, I had noticed that he had left the component of the hvac system unplugged. I phoned Michael and Son and let the representative know that I was concerned about the operation of my hvac unit if the component is no longer plugged in. I had even requested a tech phone me (preferably same tech) and allow me to submit a photo to show the component and get instructions. I was curious as to know if I should insert the plug myself or should the component be left unplugged until I plan to use the hvac system? Needless-to-say, I have made several telephone calls to Michael and Son since last Saturday and each time I have received an apology and a promise from a representative stating that either the manager or a tech would be phoning soon. To date, nobody has contacted me regarding my dilemma. The technician who serviced my hvac unit last Saturday should have focused more on properly completing the service that I had requested from Michael and Son rather than his trying to persuade me to take a couple of offers for additional services that day.
